101. An Unlikely Pair
The hero and the one they looked down upon couldn't stand side by side
and yet they did: together, even arm in arm, fingers interwoven,
hers running soothing circles into his from prying eyes
Because that was why he went with her, why he fell in love:
he didn't care about his fame after all, and nor did she –
they were two people, free to fall in love
And they did fall in love, fall in love together
and it was a relief for him, for her to sooth his tension lines
and his smile, and she could be free as well, from the laughter
that had clung to her like a cloak
And it didn't matter how strange it was, to fall in love like this:
this love that didn't even seem to be love,
But if all they wanted to do was be together…
what else could they call love?
