14. Facing Fears (My Captain)
(Flashback)
Things couldn't be much worst for Juliet because Carlotta dragged her to the dungeons and locked her up in the most horrible place a child could be locked up in.
"Move, move, you ungreatful rat!" the cold woman yanked on the girl's arm like if she was going to rip it off her shoulder.
"NO, NO, DON'T LOCK ME UP, PLEASE!" the Red girl cried with fear and tears.
"SHUT UP! This is where an ungrateful brat like you belongs" she pushes and locks Juliet into a small ancient cell covered in spider webs and rust.
"Please, don't leave me here..."
"You'll never get out of here. NEVER! Now you'll learn how to obey my rules, little rat!"
"NO, PLEASE! I WANNA SEE MY DAD!"
"SHUT UP! SHUT UP NOW!" and with that, Carlotta leaves the child down there in the dungeon
"Please... I just want to see my Daddy... I WANNA SEE MY DADDY! LET ME OUT OF HERE! I WANNA SEE MY DAD..." she slides herself against down the rusty old bars & cry in pain.
Suddenly, The Ghost Girl appeared.
"Juliet. Juliet, forgive me. Forgive me, it's my fault you're locked down here"
"No, it's not your fault. I'm the one who got caught"
"Don't worry, Juliet. I'm going to help you get out of here"
"Really? You're going to help me get out of here so I can see my Daddy?"
"NO, Juliet, I wish I could but I can't do that but I can take you to a place where you can see him. Even if by far"
"I'm going to see him when he arrives on my Old Man Barracuda's boat?"
"Yes, Juliet. You want me to take you there?"
Julie nods like crazy "Yeah, please take me. I need to see my Dad when he gets here"
"Then follow me"
Ghost Girl disappears for a few seconds and reappears inside Juliet's tiny cell.
Sailing on the salty fresh crystal clear oceans, Old Man Barracuda's boat was navigating the small ocean the separated his home of Hope Port and the dreadful San Felipe castle. He had a guest on his boat and was going to take him to that ugly place to see the light of his life, his daughter. Lord Redbrick can always count on his old friend for any favour he needed, especially if it involves his daughter
"Oh, how pretty is the sea..." Barracuda's parrot, Coki sang while sitting on his owner's shoulder
"That's right, Coki. You're also excited to be out at sea today?" Barracuda chuckles.
"I got to admit also, it's been so long that I haven't been out at see since Marina died but for our little Juliet, I'll take any risk. Thank you so much for this, old friend" the red pats his friend's shoulder.
"No, you don't need to thank me, Redbrick. You know I love Juliet like my own too. And it also hurts me she's in that dreadful place and I wish you all the luck that you will get her out of there and you know you can always count on me"
"That's right, my dear Barracuda, its good to feel that fresh breeze against the face. I missed going out to see with my wife and my child and now I can do it all over again once I have her back. You hear that, Marina?!" he yells to the horizon "You must be very proud of me cause I'm fighting for our daughter, I'm letting go all of my worries and fears for her sake. And I promise you on my soul that I will get out child back and be a much better father for her and never ever let her go again!"
"I am also very proud of you, compadre. And I'm pretty sure Lady Marina, wherever she might be, is too"
"No doubt on that, my friend. And I'm also sure my girl Juliet will be very pleased to know of how I'm not letting my fears control me no more and everything will be much different from now on, that I promise you"
"Well, prepare yourself, my friend because we will be docking in 10 minutes. San Felipe is just straight ahead"
"Straight ahead, Redbrick. Straight ahead" Coki repeats and flaps his wings.
Juliet follows her thru the tight little tunnel until she could finally see a light and made it to the other side of the tunnel. Unfortunately, the exit was bared, so she couldn't get out but at least she could see the ocean 2 feet were she was standing and could feel the salty fresh air against the face and the bright sunlight on her face. It was the one time she felt so calm and relax since she got to this dark place.
"There it is! The Buccaneer!" she gaps excited when she saw Old Man Barracuda's boat parked on the edge of the docks. That's when she saw Lord Redbrick!
"DAD! DADDY! You're here, Daddy! I can't believe it. you came for me. You got over your fears to come see me" she smiles.
"DAD! DAD, I'm OVERE HERE! TURN AROUND! I'm OVER HERE!" she calls to him as Lord Redbrick look around his surrounding to find the entrance and unaware his daughter was closer than he thought. But no matter how much she called him, he couldn't hear her and he walked away. Juliet frowns in disappointment, and slide herself against the bars and sat down.
"Dad, I'm sorry for everything that's happened. If I could tell you the truth, I would. But not matter how much I wanna go with you, I can't because I have a mission and you're the one who taught me how to be brave" and that's why I have to help the kids and Ms. Minerva. I have to find the Crystal Heart. I just hope you don't get mad at me because I got punished" she frowns.
Meanwhile, Lord Redbrick finally found the entrance of the castle and walked directly to the door. But as expected, the gates were locked, so he had to wait until he was received. That's when the old hag herself come out.
"What is your business here?!" Director Carlotta scowls at him.
"Afternoon, my name is Lord Redbrick , I am Juliet's father. Since it's today is Sunday, I can to see my girl. Because I really miss her and..."
"I'm sorry, Lord Redbrick but Juliet is right now punished for misbehaving today. So she will not be receiving any visitors from anybody today"
"Punished? No, no, that can't be. I came from Stratford Upon Avon to come see her. And you have no idea everything I have to do to come see her"
"Listen, Lord What's Your Face, you are nobody to tell me how to do my job! And YOU have no idea what I have to do to control your daughter when she got on my nerves! That child is a spoiled little brat with a big mouth and ungrateful attitude! She needs a high discipline for the next 20 years! She behaves like an animal, doing trick after tricks! And I don't doubt I have to owe you for that, it's clearly your fault of why she behaves like that. For not raising her like a parent should raise their child and is right now punished until I DESIDED!"
"Yes, maybe you're right on something. Maybe I wasn't the perfect father, ma'am..."
"Director Carlotta!" she corrects him.
"Very well, Director Carlota, as I was saying… I may be the one who caused this but she is not to be blamed for my errors. So don't punish her because that's how she is, she can't help being like that. My girl is not used to being locked up inside places; she likes to escape places and run off on adventures and be free. She just a child that wants to have fun and I'm sure that's why she's behaving like this. She's too rebels and feisty"
"Here she will learn how to be discipline and how to behave like if she was in the military! And if I have to use force and the cruel kind, I WILL DO IT! And she is punished and I don't plan on rewarding her on accepting your visit"
"Please, ma'am..."
"DIRECTOR CARLOTTA!"
"Yeah, yeah, Director Carlota, whatever, just this once please let me see my child. I know she will be behave once I talk to her. I beg you"
"I don't need your help on how to run my job. I will get her to behave like I did with all those other brats in there. So leave my castle because I can assure you that you not see Juliet IN A LONG TIME!"
"You cannot do this. This is an abuse of power and I will denounce you for this. I have the full rights to see my daughter. What is this!? A jail!? A jail for children!? I am not leaving this place until I see my daughter" he was getting angry.
"Well, for me you can rot and die on this spot all you want because I am not going to allow you to see her, EVER!" she grits thru her teeth.
"Listen to me, he next time I come here, I'm going to be taking definitely her form this place and bring her home where she belongs... Director Carlotta"
Carlotta started laughing evilly like if she just heard a joke "WE SHALL SEE THAT!? & If only if I allow it or over my dead body! She is a spoiled brat, who shall never see that light of day EVER AGAIN! And I will make sure of that!" she stated and walked away from the gate, with her head high up with pride.
"I'm going to report you to the authorities, madam Carlotta! Or whatever you're called! The next visit will be when I come to take my child from this place! I PROMIS EYOU THAT! YOU HEAR ME!? THIS IS A JAIL!? IT'S AN INJUSTICE YOU'RE DOING HERE!" Redbrick cried from the gates as she walked away.
Carlotta just kept ignoring him and entered her dark castle, leaving Redbrick angry at the gates and he at some point had to leave the spot and head back to The Buccaneer where Barracuda was cleaning up a little.
"So, how's it go, Redbrick? Did you see her? How is she?" Barracuda asked as he wrapped some rope and store it away.
"I didn't see her, Barracuda. That demon cruel woman of Carlotta said she was punished and wouldn't let me see her"
"Little Juliet punished? That doesn't sound like her? I mean she likes to get in troubles but nothing serious on getting punished and less in this place"
"I can assure you, Barracuda; this woman is treating my child and all the other children as prisoners. This isn't an orphanage, it's a jail for children and I will report this to the authorities and remove her from this office"
"Well, what should we do? Do you want to head back? Or wait a little longer"
"I don't know, compadre... I feel like I should stay and hear her voice..."
"DAD! DADDY!"
He really did hear her voice.
"Wait, I can hear it too" Barracuda said, also confused.
They silent and listen.
"I'M OVER HERE, DAD!" she cried again with echo.
Both men looked around their surroundings, trying to figure out from where their little child's voice was coming from.
"JULIET!?" Redbrick cried back, looking around.
"I'M OVER HERE, DAD! PLEASE, HELP ME!"
"JULIET?! WHERE ARE YOU, GUPPY!?" Barracuda cried back and helped his friend search for the girl.
Both men walk/ran across the coast that surrounded the lower mountains and cliffs, listening to the child's voice getting louder and closer to where she was,
"JULIET!" Redbrick cried, desperately.
"DAD!"
"JULIET!" Barracuda called.
"I'm OVERE HERE, DAD!"
"JULIET! JULIET, WHERE ARE YOU! ANWSER ME!"
"I'M OVER HERE, DADDY!" Juliet waved to him when she sees him. "I'm OVER HERE, DAD, BARRACUDA! OVER HERE! HERE, GUYS!"
Finally, Redbrick and Barracuda turned and they see her behind the cell bars and they ran to her.
"Juliet, Juliet, my girl!" Redbrick kneels to her heights and tried to hug her as he can thru he bars and kisses her cheek of much he missed her.
"Goodness, child. What are you doing here?" Barracuda also hugs her thru the bars.
"Daddy, Barracuda, I'm ok, really. Don't be sad, Dad" she caressed her father's face who was really upset to see her like this and in this place.
"Why are you down here and in a jail cell, guppy?" Barracuda asks.
"It's a long story, Old Man Barracuda"
"Who locked you in here, my girl? Tell me, who did this to you?" Redbrick asks, upset.
"The Director Carlotta, Dad. She's really cruel and is always punishing us for no reason. But mostly with me because I'm a lot of trouble" she frowns.
"Director Carlotta is going to pay for everything she has done" Redbrick stated, furious.
"Your father is right, child. Nobody has the right to lock somebody up in a place like this" Barracuda steps in.
"Dad, I didn't think I was going to see you again. And you too, Barracuda"
"Don't worry, my girl because I'm here now, we both are and we are going to get you out of here. I promise you that. I'm going to do everything, EVERYTHING to get you out of this place so you won't have to spend one more day in this horrible place"
"Dad, I want to see you. I don't care anymore if I'm behind these bars. I got worried when I heard you got sick"
"Well, I'm better now that I got to see you, sweetheart. Barracuda here is helping me do everything to get the money we owe and to get you out of here. And this, crazy coward has faced his fears of crossing the oceans to come see you"
"No, Daddy, you are not a coward. On the contrary, you're very brave to come here. you're the most brave, kind, handsome Daddy in the world!"
"Redbrick chuckles "That's what I wanted to see from you, princess. To see you smile. And by the way, I brought you a little something" Redbrick hands her a medium size package that fits thru the bars.
"From me?"
"Yes"
"But I've been misbehaving"
"NO, no, my love. I'm the one who's misbehaved. For letting them bring you to this place so horrible"
"I also have a surprise for you"
Redbrick was surprised "Oh really?"
She nods "And I know it's going to make you every happy"
"Believe me, nothing can make me more happy than just seeing your glowing beautiful little face and smile", my girl. And have you back home with me"
"Just close your eyes and hold out your hand" she says and he obeys
Redbrick closes his eyes and holds out his left hand and Juliet put the rare black pearl in his hand.
"You can open them now" she says
He opens his eyes and gasps "The Pearl! Your mother's Pearl! Where did you get it?!"
"I found it in Director Carlotta's room. I knew it was going to make you happy in seeing it again. And not only that but Carlotta has more stolen things in her room"
"What?! You saying she's a thief, Juliet?"
"Yes. She steals the kids toys and a lot of rare jewels. I could only rescue your pearl. I knew it would make you happy, Dad"
"Yes, yes, my child, it does but not as much as seeing you again. Because my most rare and unique jewel is you! And I will get you and your brother back with me, this I swear it"
"I miss him too, Dad? Any word from him?"
"Not yet, my love but I will make sure he hears from you even if I have to go out and get and bring him here to see you. My angel, promise me you are going to behave. I know you are too feisty but you need to control it to behave and that will make us get back together sooner than we thing. Can you promise me that, Juliet?"
"Yes, Dad, I promise you"
"Me and Barracuda are going to go now with the lawyers and let them now about this injustice that's happening, isn't that right, old friend?"
"Of course, my friend. You take care of yourself, guppy. I shall see you soon" Barracuda kisses the child's head and says his goodbye as he goes back to his boat, leaving the father and daughter alone for a little while longer.
Redbrick looks back at his child "I'm gonna come back for you, my love. Be the man I was before because you are my reason to get back and fight and living. SO we can never be separated ever again"
"I love you, Daddy"
"Well, as much as it hurts me, I have to go because if Carlotta sees Barracuda's boat still on he docks, she's going to be furious and might actually sink it or even punish you more"
"I understand, Dad. I'm going to wait the time necessary for you to come back. I promise you I'm not going to get in any more trouble"
"Just remember, Juliet. Even if I'm not near, you will always be in my heart and I'll be in yours FOREVER. And I'll always be with you"

After a few minutes of their long goodbye and encounter, Lord Redbrick had to go even if he didn't want to but he had to so his child wouldn't get in anymore trouble. Juliet had a smile on her face and in her heart to see her father after a long time. She sat down on the ground with sand and opened the gift her father gave her.
"The Star of 5 Points!" she gasps "And it has another point lighten up" she smiles when she turned the star upside down and saw it's arm glow.
"JULIET! JULIET!" A familiar and delightful voice was calling her.
"Mum?! MUM, WHERE ARE YOU?!" She looks around her.
"HERE! OVER HERE, MY GIRL!"
Juliet stands up and hold son to the bars and gasps. There she was! Her mother with her mermaid tail, sitting on the rock just a few small feet away from her. She was happy to see her mother too!
"Mum, you also came to see me!"
"Yes, Juliet and I already know your father came here"
"Yeah and look what he brought me!" she shows her the Star "He brought me the Star and it has another arm lighten up"
"And do you know what's the light mean?" the mermaid asks but Juliet shakes her head in no "It's the second path of light is because you confronted your problems and went against them instead of running from them"
"My problems?"
"Yes, Juliet. You had a lot of courage when you stopped running and hiding in the garden and in Hope Port so they wouldn't bring you here but you and your father faced what was coming to you no matter how painful it was"

"I know that that dungeon has an exit but your challenge is to find it"

In the present, in the hospital
It's been hours since his sister was taken to the emergency room. He just sat there with his hands in fists against the face, re-thinking everything's that has happen between Juliet and him in the past. Especially after finding out her secret and his mother was alive all this time. At first he was mad at her for not telling her about something this important to him? But now that he re-thinks it over again, he can't blame her for everything. He was also too blame for not being there for his little sister when she needed him. She was trying to protect him even she couldn't tell him. Obviously he loved her but didn't know if he deserves her forgiveness for ever being so hard on her. How could he have been so selfish?
"Here, love"
His thoughts were interrupted when his mother comes up and hands him a cup of coffee
"Thanks, mum" he drinks the black coffee
"You should go home and get some rest. You've been here all night"
"No. I'm ok. Not when Juliet is on the edge of death. I need o be with her"
"You do well, my love. But I can assure you, Juliet is not going to die. She's strong and has many to live for. But I do want to talk about what's happened the last 15 years"
"Mum, now is not the time or place to talk about that..."
"No, please, listen to me, Willy. I know I hurt you and asked Juliet to do it too but you got to believe me that everything I did, including faking my death was to keep you and my family safe. I know I've hid the largest secret of my life from you and your father & I regret to tell you but I was forbidden to tell you because if I did, you would be in danger"

"What do you mean they're hunting her, mum?"
Marina signs "Oh, my love. There some things you still wouldn't understand"
"Stop talking to me like I'm a little kid, mom. I'm an adult and I can handle anything that comes from my family. I want to rebond with my sister. And get to know her all over again"
"Alright, she is being hunted by a physo pirate who not only wants her power but her. She has a sick obsession for your sister and he is determine to go over anybody to get to her"
"Over? You mean kill? Even my niece and you, & Dad, & Gnomeo"
"Anybody and everybody, Willy. In fact Gnomeo is the first of his list to eliminate. This obsession started a long time ago. And I'm really afraid for you, for your sister & everybody else of how far this miserable is going too far to get my little girl and her power"
"If he's after her, why can't you take away her power so he'll have less reason to come after her?"
"Because your sister is like the Chosen One and even if I wanted to take away her power, I couldn't. Yes, I'm the one who gave her the powers but I'm not the one who choose her to have them or the Star's and al l it's power."
"So you can't do anything to stop this? to stop her powers?"
"No, Willy. I wish I can but the only person who can do that is..." before she finish her sentence, somebody stood in front of her.
"Excuse me? Marina?" it was a woman's voice.
Marina looked up at the woman and her jaw dropped. She stood up and face the woman and looked at her in the eyes. She couldn't believe it!
"It's you. I can't believe you're here"
"Yes. Hello, Marina. I came to see Juliet"
Those crystal sea blue eyes. That long coloful hair that matched her tail but she was now walking, ON LEGS! Marina recognizes this woman from far away but what's weird she knows her from the sea. She ws here, in front of her. Plus, the seashell necklace was one of the important things she noticed of this woman. Marina hesitated until she found the words to finally speak...
"Cordelia?"
