Chapter Sixteen

Loki stared down his nose at Thor, or he would have, if the bumbling fool hadn't been taller than he. "I know nothing of what you speak, brother mine."

He could have repented for the rest of his life and Loki still wouldn't have been completely free of the bitterness. There was something when he looked at his dear brother that brought out that chilling calm. Thor had forgiven him, but Loki wasn't so sure that he himself had gotten over the crime of being in Thor's shadow.

There would be shared laughter. Loki loved to mock and belittle Thor.

But now Thor was accusing him of a crime that was...

All too true.

Loki took a seat and crossed one leg over the other, looking the prestige of villainy. "What need would I have of that chattering imbecile?" He looked around the empty room and swept his arm out in a silent gesture. "Do you see her, Thor?" Loki leaned to the side and pulled open a door. "Would she be hiding in the closet?" He asked in mockery.

They were now looking for the very same Darcy that he'd abducted. Funny, how he didn't see it quite as abduction. She'd went all too willingly. She'd been more than willing to learn the tricks of his trade.

"The Director saw you leave with Darcy Lewis, brother..." Thor was abadoment.

"Did he?" Loki questioned.

He got the response he sought when doubt crossed Thor's face. Loki kept his face expressionless. His apparitions were well known. He'd used the faux more times than he could count and judging Thor's expression...

Loki fought a snicker.

His brother was easily fooled because he believed too much in the greater good.

He could easily have fooled the Director into believing that he'd kidnapped the poorly educated Miss Lewis. It pleased Loki that he had taken her.

He arched an eyebrow in Thor's direction, daring him to say otherwise. Meanwhile, Darcy stood behind Thor, doing a rather beautiful imitation of Thor throwing his hammer.

Loki fought the urge to grin. Darcy was rather attentive when she wanted to be. She was learning quick how easy it was to hide oneself from even the Asgardian eye. That she could hide herself in plain view from even the God of Thunder brought pride.

The fact that she was mocking Thor's every word silently, every move, made the moment even more enjoyable. He waited in silence as Thor contemplated on whether or not he was telling the truth before sighing and nodding farewell before he left the room.

When the door closed, Loki arched an eyebrow and folded his arms. "Are you done?"

Darcy opened her mouth, silently saying only God knew what and lifted her hands once more, holding onto an imaginary hammer and slammed it into the ground in a perfect imitation of the God who'd just left. She then lifted her hands in a mock rock God symbol and stuck out her tongue.

Loki rolled his eyes. He would never understand her human mannerisms. The thought came often but it never came any less amusing.

Darcy couldn't contain her enthusiasm. She could be in—fucking—visible. She hadn't been able to pull it off on Loki but it sure as monkey balls had worked on Thor. Thor was a freakin' God and she had played the ultimate prank on him. The fact that Thor was looking for her, she could have cared less about. Mainly because it was at Nick Fury's order.

In her mind, she was rubbing her hands together. She was having too much fun. "Do I look done to you?" Darcy said. Hell no she wasn't done. She was a God!

"As you keep telling yourself." Loki said, reminding her that he was ever present in her mind.

"Isn't there some way that I can like, block you from doing that?"

Loki laughed softly. "I think I much prefer to know what you are...planning, Sigyn."

Darcy snorted. She may plan, but that didn't mean that she stuck to the plan. Darcy Lewis didn't come with a plan. She was like Heath Ledger's Joker. Did she look like a girl with a plan? Though, turning Jane's hair purple had been a good plan. "That's not permanent, is it?"

All Loki did was shrug and Darcy fought a grimace. Going a color so tame as Sif's had been too boring. Darcy wanted something more dramatic and what was more dramatic than purple hair? The look on Jane's face had been priceless and Darcy had wanted to high five herself for her own creativity and the ability to hold onto the invisibility shit for so long.

She was sure that being a Goddess had nothing to do with the pranks she was growing fond of, but she had Loki to blame for that. What did Odin-your-highness expect? Loki was under suspect of her disappearance and Thor knew it.

"I could so love you for this shit." Darcy said.

Loki rolled his eyes.

At least his punishment was over. If Darcy wasn't so terrified of bad ol' dad Odin, she would have put some of these powers to use on him. But being that he'd been the one to give her these—for whatever reason—she thought the better of it. If he sewed Loki's lips shut, imagine what he would do to her?

The big shit on the throne deserved it. "So..." Darcy said, trying to make light of the question. A lot of things seem easy peesy if Loki was right there. She could so take on a God king. As long as Loki was beside her. "...you ever like, played a trick on dad?"

He didn't answer her, which surprised her. Whenever it came to jesting about dad, Loki normally had a good pun to make her laugh. She'd grown to know Loki over the past few weeks. She was sure that she'd seen a side of him that not even Thor had seen. Whatever it was, she caught the flicker of emotion in his green eyes when he looked away and his expression turned cold and sullen.

What? What did she say?

She swore she could feel the sudden anger pulsing in the air and the annoyance when he refused to look at her. Her confusion turned to outright shock when he lifted his hand and waved it in her direction.

"Enough. This is non-sense."

Being a Goddess and all, Darcy didn't feel the nauseating twist as Loki thrust her back into her own time-frame and on top of an office table where Nick Fury and his goonies surrounded, discussing her disappearance.

"What did I say?" Darcy said loudly as she looked up at the ceiling, ignoring Fury's shout at her sudden appearance.
