106. Trying to Be
She'd loved him too completely to let go; she couldn't let go
of the god she'd made of him, she couldn't
though she'd tried – oh how hard she'd tried to not
bring that shame to her family
and she'd be a few agonising feet away
before sprinting back, frantically, to the arms of love
once more.
She could barely breathe: the desire, the need were so suffocating
that she had to make him his, had to be with him
and then she had him, she brought him into her grasp
and drowned herself like a drunk woman on too sweet nectar
But she was still dissatisfied; she wanted him to love her too,
really love her, like she loved him, instead of the illusion
so she lifted the enchantment from him, watched his eyes open
and him toss the ring that bound them from his finger and storm off
muttering about bewitchments and leaving her heart in shatters
on the floor.
