"Ino's having a New Year's party," Temari remarked.
Shikamaru didn't even look up from his newspaper.
"If we're at a party, we can kiss at midnight," she tried again.
"If we're not, we can kiss all night," Shikamaru retorted.
"I hadn't thought of it that way," Temari said thoughtfully.
Shikamaru put the newspaper down in disbelief as Temari walked over. Had he actually managed to convince her that he was right?
"Maybe we should stay in," she agreed.
Shikamaru didn't know what had possessed Temari, but he didn't object as she settled into his lap and kissed him.
