119. Hiding in the Bookshelves
He acted as though he searched for an elusive book
but in reality it was something else he craved:
her long bushy hair obscuring the zipper that kept her dress
on her back, and whatever lay in front:
A book, of course it was a book
with her, one that had devoured her attention –
But no, she was looking up every now and then,
looking up from the book he competed with, to stare at him
And he'd ignore the way her lips curled with displeasure
as she returned to her book; he was distracting after all:
he knew, because of the giggles that followed him
But that was unavoidable, and it was her, her company
he sought.
It might have been less distracting if there was a window through the books
but there wasn't.
