124. Between Two Spiders
He'd been chased out of the castle like the murdering beast
he'd been stamped, and left to the treacherous forest
without a light, or a friend.
All he could do was kill, and carve his path and home
with bloodied skulls
and sharpen his arms until they were sharp pins
that could cut through even the most sturdy of foes
And his pincers tore at their flesh and crunched
their hard shells
And that was his life
Until something changed
and he had a partner, then more friends
and family: others like him, and that female spider
who'd also had blood on her pincers
from necessity.
They'd fought quite bitterly at first, and she'd beaten him
but she'd also saved his life;
he didn't understand it, but they grew closer by the day
and, to be honest, he wasn't about to complain.
