A/N: Whoops forgot to post the chapter *rubs back of neck awkwardly*
Okay that recent chapter of FT...Mashima just throwing in a bit of GaLe for us fans and it had me dying of laughter and my own tears of happiness because GaLe is hands down fave fairy tail ship.
Anywho...
The sounds of her footsteps as she ran echoed throughout the street. Many of the passersby quickly moving to the side to avoid crashing into the salmon haired woman, whilst Lavender flew overhead and not too far away from Rissy as the pair headed for Magnolia station.
The bandages were still wrapped around her left leg and right arm, and even though she should have taken the advice of the hospital to not do an vigorous exercise, the hospital nurses didn't know a pissed of red head.
"Rissy-Chan we need to hurry before Erza kills us!" Lavender exclaimed as they turned another street.
Rissy hoisted the bag on her shoulder before turning to face her partner.
"I know and I don't wanna die!" She exclaimed as they ran into the station.
Lavender swooped down before her wings disappeared, Rissy stretching out her arms to catch her friend. All of the team were there, minus Wendy, the young sky mage having opted out to train with Chelia.
Erza turned to face her however to Rissy's surprise she didn't look angry at her tardiness.
"We're still waiting on one more" Erza stated causing Rissy to release a quick sigh of relief.
"However..." She started which instantly caused Rissy to pale.
"If you're late again you will be punished" She told her in an eerily calm voice which had all of team Natsu shivering in fear.
Rissy quickly nodded along with the other members.
"Yes sir... I mean ma'am" Natsu declared quickly correcting himself due to the glare Erza was sending him.
It was then that Erza's glaring ceased due to the arrival of the newest addition.
"Sorry I'm late" Rinan stated quietly as he appeared.
Erza nodded with a smile causing the others to get confused as to why she was yet to threaten the new guy.
"Right then let's depart" Erza stated as she started on ushering the team onto the train.
She was quick to step on due to not wanting to face Erza's wrath however, she couldn't help but notice the look of pure suspicion that Lucy and Natsu were sending towards Rinan.
Now she literally only knew the dark haired teen for a day, but something about him just made her want to trust him. Perhaps it was the way he flicked his head to the side to shake his bangs out of his eyes - the same way she had often seen someone close to her do. But she ushered her thought away as the train pulled out of the station and the sickness started.
He was certain that both Natsu and Lucy had their eyes on him though he feigned innocence and ignored the stares. He kept his eyes downcast the entire journey, only to raise his gaze whenever Rissy addressed him.
She was sitting opposite him with her head rested against the window and her eyes attempting to roll into the back of her skull. She suddenly placed her hands over her mouth as if bile was attempting to release itself.
"I hate trains..." She muttered as she pressed herself closer to the wall.
He smiled slightly before turning to face the window himself, the treeline along with the silhouette of passing towns whizzed by and it too was starting to make him a little queasy. He quickly turned around, slouching in his seat slightly and looking a little pale.
He tried to hide his discomfort however Rissy seemed to notice and frowned slightly.
"You okay, Rin?" She asked before covering her mouth once more.
He placed a small smile on his face, she had always called him this name even when he specified his dislike for it.
"Fine" he answered through gritted teeth. He said his reply a little too forcefully as Erza, Gray, Natsu and Lucy all turned to him in confusion.
He shrank back slightly in his seat, both Natsu and Lucy watching him carefully. Rissy, however seemed unfazed by his answer and frowned once more and he smiled for she was able to see through his lies.
"You so aren't fine..." She muttered, placing her head into her hands.
"If you want I can knock you out too" Erza suggested with a smile. Rinan paled slightly at her question hoping that the redhead wasn't a dressing him, however he realised that was definitely talking to Rissy.
Rissy was ready to protest however nodded.
" I guess I could catch some rest-" she said before Erza took that as confirmation to knock her out cold and causing him to flinch. He just hoped the train ride didn't last too long for he wasn't too fond of getting knocked unconscious.
The bump on her head still throbbed as they walked through Rozu town; the town where their next mission were to take place.
"Erza hit me a little too hard..." Rissy muttered as herself and Rinan continued to walk down a street in search of the rogue mages.
They had split up earlier before into groups of three - minus Erza and Gray who were a group of two. She kind of like talking to the new mage, even though he was quiet she didn't mind that since she could do more talking for the both of them.
"Maybe we can get Gray to ice it?" Lavender suggested as she walked beside them.
She shrugged as she skipped ahead, she was eager to catch these rogue mages. Rogue mages she thought to herself with a smile.
"Hey guys" she said as she turned around with a grin.
Both Rinan and Lavender turned to her in confusion. She had to double blink at Rinan's confused face, for it mirrored her own.
"Well we're looking for 'rogue mages' and we know someone called Rogue...he's my boyfriend" She said with a grin. Lavender sniggered slightly whilst Rinan cracked a small smile.
His smile was familiar and it was starting to frustrate her as she knew she had seen in before.
"A very nice observation.." Rinan commented - that familiar smile still evident.
She grinned at him, though something did cross her mind; where did Rinan come from, why Magnolia and...
"What happened to your parents?" She asked.
She noticed him stiffen slightly and she silently cursed her big mouth for treading on a touchy subject.
"Sorry I-" She starred attempting to clear the air, however he held up a hand as if to stop her with a small smile on his face.
He sighed as he ran a hand through his wild locks before turning back to her. She noticed his eyes were glassy, the emotions of a recent memory replaying before him.
"My mother...She died" he told her grimly.
She gasped slightly, Lavender wrapping her arms around her leg as she whimpered slightly. No one deserved to lose anyone close to them, and she knew all too well what it felt like for it had happened multiple times.
She turned back to face him with a small smile, however his lips were now pressed into a thin line.
"W-what about your father, is he...?" She asked, her voice trailed off for she feared the worst.
He shook his head slightly and her head perked up in happiness, however that quickly faded once she noticed his lost look.
"But he's not around...is he?" She asked - though rather stated.
He nodded once more before running a hand through his hair - a habit of his she had noted.
"After mum died...He changed.." He sighed and she deflated slightly.
She sighed herself before placing a hand on his arm. It was supposed to be comforting however as her skin touched his, something sparked. Images flashed before her eyes of a boy, wild dark hair billowing behind him as he ran through a meadow, a woman with salmon coloured hair chasing behind him with a wide grin plastered across her face. She quickly pulled away at this, the frown evident on her face since he too was frowning.
"Are you alright?" He asked as he turned to face her.
She narrowed her eyes at him, a little confused - and more than usual.
"Who are you, Rin?" She asked, her eyes searching his for an answer.
He opened his mouth as if to speak, however to her surprise his eyes widened and he quickly pushed her to the ground. She was aware of Lavender shuffling beneath her, and she started to shuffle beneath Rinan's weight. Glancing around she noticed the smoke that had started to form around them.
"Rissy-Chan..." Lavender whimpered as she hugged herself closer to her.
Suddenly to her surprise a shadow dome had appeared around the three of them. The dome protected them from the smoke however she knew that it had to be taking out magic energy for Rinan to keep up.
She staggered up slightly, turning to Rinan in confusion. As if sensing her eyes on him he turned to face her.
"Rissy, I'll give you the answers you seek, but you see him..." He told her before gesturing to the cloaked man who was now stepping through the smoke cloud.
"He's like me...not from around here but the only difference is he's a killer and you can't reason with him" he continued, his gaze dark.
She nodded before turning back to the cloaked man, he was now firing blasts of the familiar purple liquid and she found herself ghosting over her bandaged arms, remembering all too well the pain said liquid caused.
The sky was starting to get filled with strange clouds, and a grotesque smell of burning flesh filled the air. Lucy frowned slightly before turning to Natsu and Happy, both her companions sharing the same look of disgust.
"Natsu I think Lucy needs a shower.." Happy loudly whispered before sniggering to himself.
Lucy sent the exceed a glare, though he quickly feigned a look of pure innocence causing Lucy to shake her head slightly.
"Why do you think Erza invited him?" Lucy asked as herself and Natsu walked down the town's streets.
Natsu shrugged before turning the Happy; the blue exceed sharing the same look of confusion.
"Maybe she was being nice?" He suggested.
Lucy hummed though she was suspicious of the new addition to the guild, she felt almost as if he was someone worth trusting and she didn't know why.
"But I hope that Rissy's alright with him" she muttered as they continued on, however Lucy knew that if Erza trusted him then she couldn't doubt the redheads judge of character.
"His name means 'rain'" she overhead Happy telling Natsu.
Natsu nodded before turning back to his partner.
"And rain is Rissy's favourite thing" he ponder out.
Happy frowned slightly at this, Lucy too. That couldn't have been a coincidence...
"The two are connected somehow" she muttered to herself than anyone.
"Those dark eyes too..." she continued with a small pout. She just couldn't forget gid familiar dark eyes, they always seemed so hopeful.
"It's almost as if he's -" She started however it was then that the smoke started to get thicker, and the scent stronger. It was so repulsion that Lucy had to cover her nose and mouth with her hands to prevent herself from throwing up. However that wasn't the only effect the smoke had; it was starting to make her rather dizzy.
"Natsu...you do smell that?" Lucy asked, her voice muffled due to her covering her mouth.
Natsu and Happy both nodded in unison. Though Natsu was sporting his scarf as a gas mask of sorts, as he using it to cover his own mouth.
"Luce, it stinks..." He muttered
She nodded before staggering slightly, using one of the walls as support for she was feeling rather light headed.
"Natsu, I'm kinda tired..." She mumbled before she lost her grip on the wall and proceeded to fall to the ground, darkness filling her vision as the scent of burnt flesh overwhelmed her.
It was hard for Erza to ignore the pungent smell of burnt flesh as herself and Gray continued to search the town for the rogue mages, the smell only continued in its intensity and was threatening to overwhelm both of the Fairy Tail mages. Erza resisted the urge to cover her nose and mouth, however she knew that she needed to stay alert in case the mages attempted on a sneak attack.
It was when the dark fog started to roll in that the redhead started to get suspicious, pungent smells were one thing - but mysterious weather was a whole other story. She turned to face Gray who in turn looked disgusted by the smell since his jacket was zipped up to nose to prevent him smelling anything.
"This can't be normal..." Gray stated, his voice was muffled due to his coat.
Erza nodded in agreement before narrowing her eyes, the fog was starting to get thicker and the scent stronger. If there was one thing she knew it was that natural weather occurrences didn't leave a person dizzy.
"There is someone else at play..." She muttered to herself as they continued down the street; whoever was causing the strange fog was bound to show themselves in one way or another.
Once the dome shattered, it released a surge of Rinan's shadow magic causing it to fly in all directions. Rissy was knocked back by a stray surge of magic and unfortunately pulled both Rinan and Lavender down with her in the process.
She staggered up, offering Rinan a hand as Lavender stood beside them the three of them ready to fight. Their attacker too seemed to notice and Rissy shivered slightly at the sight of a sinister smile underneath the shadow of his hood.
Rinan stepped in front of her, using an arm to push her behind him and causing her to frown - for if there was one thing she hated it was to be pushed behind like a damsel in distress.
"Hey let me fight too!" She exclaimed as she tugged at Rinan's outstretched arm.
He glanced back at before turning to face the hooded man, he was now walking through the smoke and heading towards them.
"Rissy..This man wants to kill you" he growled out.
She shivered slightly at his tone before turning to the man that would be her killer. Lavender latched herself onto Rissy's leg tighter, as if to save her from the impending doom.
"Me...but why-" She asked with a frown, for as far as she was concerned she wasn't of much importance.
"Rissy...you have no idea of the effect you have on those around you" he stated a small smile forming on his lips, almost as if reminiscing on a fond memory.
She nodded; allowing Rinan to step in front of her and she watched with wide eyes as shadows engulfed his right wrist, creeping up like dark flames.
The cloaked man started on firing the purple liquid at Rinan, though her friend was quick to form a shield created out of his magic, and causing the liquid to bounce off. Her eyes widened at how fast Rinan was, for someone of his build she would have assumed his movements to be slower, however he was able to evade all of the attackers blows with ease and to be fair she was envious.
She gasped as the attacker formed a large hand out of the smoke, this time Rinan wasn't able to evade it and the hand smacked him away into a nearby wall. Rissy quickly sent a blast of multi coloured light at her attacker to keep him away from Rinan, whilst herself and Lavender ran over to help him.
She offered him a hand whilst never taking her gaze off the cloaked man as he advanced towards the trio.
"Rinan...you seem to know him, how do we stop him?" She asked.
Rinan staggered upright before frowning.
"There's no 'we'" he told her with a frown before attempting to get back into the fight.
She frowned before pulling him back by his arm; mentally cursing his stubbornness the whole time
"I'm not letting you fight a killer alone" she said through grit teeth.
He shook his head slightly before smiling.
"Then we do this my way and quickly...the longer we fight the more time he has to study us" He told her.
She nodded before the three if them immediately jumped back into the fray. Lavender had activated her magic and had lifted Rissy above so she could attack from a vantage point.
"Fairy Dragons roar!" She shouted as the multicolored light was released from her mouth and hit the cloaked attacker into a wall.
The smoke was starting to climb higher and was starting to make the three mages dizzy and disorientated.
"Rissy-Chan, I don't know how much longer I can fly for" Lavender said with a frown as she dodged the large smoke cloud heading their way.
Rissy nodding in understanding before gesturing for Lavender to lower them to the ground, the last thing she wanted was for her friend to get hurt. She glanced back to Rinan, who was now getting the upper hand on the attacker and that was when she got a bright idea.
"Rinan!" She shouted as she ran over to him, Lavender beside her. He quickly put up his shield deflecting an oncoming attack before turning towards them.
"Unison raid!" She exclaimed with a grin plastered across her face once more.
Rinan nodded before the two joint hands, ready to combine their magic. A black magic circle appeared in front of their joint hands and a smaller multicolored one appearing underneath.
"Shadow Fairy's booming roar!" They shouted as a black coloured light was released with a glimmer of multicolored light appearing at round it.
The magic attack was sent at the cloaked man and instantly knocked him down, however the attack left both mages a little worse for wear.
"That...that went well" She declared between pants since she had yet to catch her breath.
Rinan nodded in agreement before walking over to wear the motionless cloaked mage lay. She quickly followed behind him, holding Lavender in her arms. They watched as Rinan bent down to inspect the mage however to her surprise as Rinan lifted the hood there was no body in sight.
"Aw come on!" Rissy exclaimed in frustration for it seemed that they were definitely meeting their smokey friend again.
Rinan slowly stood, his lips pressed into a hard line as he faced her.
"Rinan, who exactly are you?"
So what did you think of that?
Just created a cliffhanger, it wasn't on purpose it just happened. I swear!
Stay tuned for next chapter where Rinan explains himself and Lucy has a heart attack.
