143. Excuses
He pretended to be looking for a book
but in reality, he was just making excuses
and he knew it.
He didn't care about the book;
he could pull one out and try to read
but his eyes would always drift away
because he was admiring her instead
And his attention would drift away as well
because giggles distracted him, distracted her
and put that gorgeously annoyed expression
on her face
before she returned to her book
And he wanted to see those eyes some more,
see that same rapt attention
towards him instead, those intelligent eyes
reading him…
And he was just pretending
when he pulled a book from the shelf
and started reading.
