158. Ugly Beast
He saw himself in a mirror
and just saw an ugly beast
turn apart.
She looked at him
and saw a handsome young man
without a smile
So she tried to make him smile
while he tried to push her away
and they had a magnificent tug of war
that ended with her in tears
and his little mental mirror
in a thousand pieces
And he couldn't deny it then;
she saw something in him,
something she couldn't let go
and he'd smiled, he'd smiled for her
and he couldn't let her go either
after that;
that feeling was just so addictive
that he had to have more:
more of her laughter,
more of how his smiles
made her smile
as well
and how he could look at a mirror
without seeing the ugly beast
stare back.
