160. Can't Stop the Waves
He'd tried to discourage her
from falling in love with him
But love was such a reckless tide
that couldn't
be abandoned
and he struggled under the force
with which it crashed upon him
and drove him down
And even though he'd tried
to toss it the other way
it hadn't worked:
each argument tossed down
by flaming arrows
driving closer to his heart
and melting the icy wall
he'd tried to built
Until she was a mess of tears
against his chest, calling him the idiot
for trying to stop the course
of love, and maybe he was the idiot
but he was an idiot who just wanted
the woman he loved
to be safe.
