189. She Wished She Could Say
She wished she could just say the words she meant
but they froze in her throat: stayed stuck somewhere
in her chest, wrapped in fear.
She didn't want this anymore: want their lives
so torn apart, so pressed, but there was nothing
she could do; they'd signed their lives off
long…ago…
She wanted to stand up; to do something,
turn back time and save a little face
but she could not; the words would condemn
them all, and all she could do was sit silently
and hope – hope there was someone else out there
saying the words she could not.
