Hello, fast update here minna-san! I'm sorry I just realized that I had made a mistake before. The story about Aoki is take place when Aomine was still in Teiko, in his 3rd year. So I made minor change, as had stated before that Aoki's school didn't make it on 'Interhigh' preliminaries, I changed it to Nationals preliminaries, because they were still in junior high. Also the school that Aoki had attended to, it's not St. Marie High School. Instead, it's St. Marie Junior High School :) I'm sorry for this stupid mistake, minna-san!.
Well, as for Human Marshmallow-san, your worries turn into nothing here, hehe ;-) Enjoy this chapter as well! Feel free to review, minna-san~~
Disclaimer: I do not own Kuroko no Basuke and all characters inside except for the OC characters. The plot belongs to me.
Pairing : Aomine x OC
Maybe OOC. Maybe AU.
Chapter 22 : I was the one that responsible for this
Aomine couldn't help but felt like a heavy burden on his shoulder had been lifted instantly. His body unconsciously moved, his lips unconsciously spelled her name. Aoki had finally woke up, though she still had trembling hands and limp body, she was actually got up, awoke from her trance.
How he had awaited this moment, how he had prayed inside his heart that he could see Aoki's eyes opened. He was not the one who often pray to Kamisama and other Gods, but for couple of days he couldn't help but prayed for Aoki.
At that time when he heard the sound of breaking glass, his mind had flashed Aoki's image who tried to get up and reach something but instead nudge the glass on the table. His heart suddenly filled with hope and expectation, and Kamisama along with other Gods still very kind, granted his wish despite his bad attitude. There was Aoki, half-lying in the bed, seeing her two friends that still standing by the doors. She didn't say anything, but her eyes sparkling, as if answering the worries that had been occupied him and Satsuki for these days, as if she was trying to say that she was alright upon seeing her friends' worried faces.
Aomine saw Aoki's lips moved a bit, then couple of seconds later a weak voice spoke up, "Aomine-kun, Satsuki-chan."
"You finally awake Aoki-chan," Aomine heard the childhood friend of his finaly able to speak, then followed by big steps toward Aoki's bed. Aomine could bet that Satsuki nearly death by resisting the urge to hug Aoki, but she was not dumb to do it for a patient that had just awaken from her trance. Instead, she just muttered a 'yokatta'.
"Glad to see you, Satsuki-chan," was the reply from Aoki. She gave Satsuki the look of a kind, calm face that reassuring the pink haired girl. Then Aoki's eyes reverted to me.
That's it.
Aomine was known as a monster in playing basketball, but he was not good in studying. He was often called as Ahomine. But, in that flash, he could see all the feelings from Aoki that reflected clearly in her eyes. He knew, Aoki tried to reassure him, soothe away all the worries. Aomine stepped forward, he wanted to get closer to Aoki went suddenly the door was opened by the doctor and nurses. The room soon filled by noises, busy by examining the patient's state, that Aomine almost couldn't see Aoki's slender body among those people. He wanted to go berserk, kick all the paramedics away and hug her body, but he remembered the last thing he said to Nakamura Takatsu before Aoki awoke.
I won't make an attempt to meet her again if you can let me see Aoki this time. Just to see her, for couple of minutes.
Aomine stopped on his track.
Sou ka, so this is the last time he could actualy see Aoki?
He maybe a jerk, a bastard, but he was a man who kept his words. He would do as he had said earlier, even though it's painful for him.
"Yokatta na, Aoki. Sayonara," mumbled Aomine with the sound that could be compared to the whisper of the wind. He then turned his body around, walked towards the door.
"Dai-chan, where were you going?" he heard Satsuki called him. He didn't bother to reply that, chose to wait for his childhood friend outside. After all, Takatsu only said that he could allow Satsuki to visit Aoki but not him. True that Takatsu hadn't answered his plea, but judging from his attitude and way to get the decision, he would not allow him definitely. Rather than that, he was actually pretty surprised by Aoki's mother. That woman had been consumed completely by rage at the first time he met her, that night when he brought Aoki to this hospital, but today she was even told them to come again another day when Takatsu was not in hospital. Seriously, was she had something like bipolar personality?
"Matte yo, Aomine-kun!"
His head swung backwards upon hearing Aoki's voice. Everyone stopped on their dead track, surprised by Aoki's cracked, shouting voice. Aoki's frowned like an angry person, but her eyes was about to cry, pleaded him to stay, "Please wait after the doctor had examined me.
Aomine was just staring blankly, and hummed a little 'okay' as the reply.
It didn't take long for the examination, and the doctor suggested her to take rest more, regarding the fact that she was still in a very weak condition. Now that the paramedics had gone, all the people left in the room were Aoki, Aoki's parents, Aomine himself, and Momoi.
"Aomine-kun," called Aoki, "why did you say sayonara earlier?"
The boy, who stood two meters away from Aoki's bed, sighed, "It's because I have promised that once I could got the chance to see you awake, I wouldn't disturb you anymore." Shit, being honest never felt this hard before.
Aoki looked displeased, "For whom you made that stupid promise, Ahomine? Who will be disturbed anyway?" said Aoki as she adjusted her position in bed so it was more comfortable for her body.
"I am," answered Aoki's father, Takatsu. Aomine could see a hint of fear, also disapproval on her face. He could see that Aoki gulped, before she bowed her head, "I'm sorry, Otousan, I was the one that responsible for this. Despite of my health condition, I did far beyond my ability and played irresponsible. I know," she paused, "I know that I had lied to you and Okaasan many times before, but from now on I swore I never go to play basketball anymore."
Aomine and Satsuki didn't know what to say hearing all the explanation from Aoki. It seemed a bit too formal, for a daughter plea to her own father, but that's what Aoki said in front of them. The hell, I never speak this formally to my old man, thought Aomine. Her father, took a seat beside her bed, stroke her hair gently, "I forgive you, Aoki. Could I hold onto your words just now?"
Aomine saw that flash moment, when Aoki bite her lip and forced a weak smile on her face, then she nodded, "Sure thing, Otousan. But once more, please let Aomine-kun and Satsuki-chan to come here. I promise that I won't go anywhere, I won't ever slip away again like an eel, if only you permitted them to visit me."
Aoki's mother, Yukiko, just nodded frantically. Seriously, she had a strange personality, thought Aomine. His heart was racing, waiting for Takatsu' answer to his daughter. That man sighed, "But Aoki, didn't you go there to meet this boy? He had brought a bad influence to you, so I won't allow it."
What the hell was that man said? I didn't even remember to persuade Aoki every now and then to come to meet him!
Aomine just about to take a step forward and confronted the older man when Satsuki held his arm. He saw that the girl shook her head. Aomine turned his head again when he heard Aoki's voice again, "Please, Otousan. I know that what I did before was so wrong, but please let both of them to come here, as they are my only friends. Please."
Aomine and Momoi were taken aback by Aoki's words. Her… only… friends? He… and Satsuki?
"Please," pleaded Aoki once again. Now even she got her body bowed a little bit.
Takatsu, seeing so much effort from his daughter, only sighed, "Fine then, but you had to go through total treatment, that had been postponed since you were so persistent to go to school before." The 40-years-old man then got up from his seat, "I had to see the doctor first." And with that, he walked past Aomine and Momoi.
"Hontou ni arigatou, Otousan," was all the reply from Aoki. Her face filled with joy, embraced by her mother in a warm hug. Momoi then joined them shortly, leaving the tan boy behind, smiled in relieved.
Thank you, Aoki.
