196. Jelly Slugs
They didn't hold the candle to Chocolate Frogs
but they were still a world apart
from the same dried corn beef sandwiches
every day
And he could only eat so much chocolate after all
before they clung to his teeth,
or he had too many copies of
some common card or other
and the jelly slugs were just one of many other
options to satisfy his hunger for more sweets.
He didn't get them often: less often even
than the Chocolate Frogs he loved oh so much…
and maybe that was why
they were so precious to him.
