Chapter 25 : Can I…

-General POV-

The hospital is as lively as usual. The corridor was pretty crowded with many people, either they are one of the patients, the doctors, the nurses, or the relatives of the patient. Today was a warm morning, not much heat after the rain that poured down last night. People could easily find a dew lingering on the tip of the leaves. That's what a dark blue haired girl did. On the hospital little garden, she sat on the bench, watching closely to the nearest leaf. She then smiled when a drop of dew fell from the leaf before she inhaled a huge amount of fresh air. What a refreshing air, she thougt.

"What are you looking huh?"

Aoki turned her head as she heard a deep voice on her left side. Aomine sat beside her, with usual bored look on his face.

"Dew."

"Are you going insane already? What's the point in watching the dew?" Aomine asked with a what-a-fucking-boring-thing-to-do face expression.

"Hmm, nothing, just feel like I want to do it. Beside, what are you doing here Aomine-kun? Isn't it too early to come here? I don't remember anyone beside family could visit the patient early in the morning like this," Aoki protested the boy. If she could recall, it was just 7 in the morning when she decided to have a walk on hospital garden.

"Like I haven't done it before," Aomine stretched his arm and yawning, "I told ya, there is a shortcut to enter the hospital. I like to use it rather than the front door."

Aoki sighed, "Yeah, yeah, whatever. Seriously you have an amazing skill to sneak in, are you skilled enough to be a thief at night? Or do you use it to sneak into girls bathroom?" Oh yeah, what the hell I'm saying right now, thought Aoki. Once she felt better, she couldn't help her other personality to come up. She knew that she couldn't watch her words sometimes, talking like a boy for example.

"Fuck, just what kind of boy do you think I am?" growled Aomine. Aoki chuckled. Yeah, she know that it wasn't the way how someone who was in love to talk. But, to just talk random things and throw jokes like this with Aomine, was one of the precious memories she hold onto dearly.

"Or," suddenly Aomine closing the gap between his face and Aoki's face, "should I sneak in to your room at night huh?" he said with a sly grin plastered on his lips.

Aoki couldn't move at all. Aomine was staring right into her eyes. Those dark blue orbs were so mesmerizing, almost made Aoki weak on her knee. Aoki felt relieved at the fact that she was sitting on the beach right now. If she was standing, she would turn into jelly for sure.

"What are you doing in the early morning like this Aomine-kun," she tried to avoid his eyes by pushing Aomine's cheek with her palm, "beside you will get nothing if you do it. Do it to one of your fangirls. Satsuki said that there are many girls who admire you. Maybe one of them will be your girlfriend and squealed like crazy if you do that?"

Damn, what I've been said, thought Aoki.

"No way," Aomine straightened his back, "well I don't care with them anyway." He stood up and offered a hand to Aoki, "Let's get back to your room. You are not that healthy to wander around the hospital like this."

Aoki pouted a little, "I'm not that weak you know. At least I could stand by my own self," said the teen girl before got up from the bench.

"See? I'm getting better day by day, so you shouldn't worry too much," said Aoki, right hand was holding the infus pole and dragging it as she was walking through the corridor. She earned random mumbles from Aomine, covered up by the noises coming from other people around them.

"Ah it's summer festival next week."

Aoki turned her head as she heard a girl's voice. She stopped on her track, watching as the young couple was giggling to each other. They were holding hands, eyes beaming with clear happiness.

"Yeah, we should go there. It's so unfortunate that Fuuto couldn't join us," the boy replied. Aoki could see a glint of sadness on the girl's eyes.

"Yeah, you can see that he is still unable to walk by himself. I think I would buy a candied apple for him."

Aoki still watching them eventhough she couldn't hear their conversation anymore. Summer festival huh? She never go to that kind of event. She's not always in a good condition, yet there is no one who would take her to the festival. Just what kind of life I've gone through all this time.

"Hey Aoki, what are you doing here? You made me look like a fool! I was walking and talking to myself!" flustered Aomine came and scolded the teen girl. Aoki just laughed, "Okay I'm sorry, let's go."

They soon arrived in Aoki's room. Aomine helped her to get back on the bed, while her mother and father just came back after had the breakfast.

"Oh, morning Aomine-kun! You sure was early," Aoki's mother, Yukiko, greeted the teen boy.

"Morning, Nakamura-san." Aomine greeted back the woman, then he switched his attention to the man that standing beside Nakamura Yukiko. He earned a sharp eye gaze from Aoki's father. Being a stubborn Aomine, he just went away with it. It's not a great deal, after he used to came everyday and met him occasionally. They didn't start the conversation yet when the doctor and nurses came up. They agreed to leave Aoki in her room to do daily examination before the doctor got out from the room.

"Nakamura-san, could you please follow me to my room?"

"Sure thing," replied Nakamura Takatsu, then gave his wife a look before follow the middle-aged doctor.

Aomine wondered what kind of conversation they would have as he followed Yukiko entered Aoki's room. Aoki was sitting on her bed, gloomy expression start blooming on her face. Yukiko realized this right after she entered her daughter's room.

"What's wrong Aoki-chan? Are you not feeling well?" She looked worried upon her daughter. After all, Aoki was getting better day by day, but suddenly she had that look again on her face.

"Nothing, Okaasan," mumbled Aoki, looked hesitant. Her mother was about to take the mineral water for her when she suddenly reached Yukiko's hand, "Okaasan, could I ask you a favor?"

It's sure strange, thought Yukiko. After being hospitalized, Aoki was never acting like this. She could see that right now her daughter was about to utter a plea.

"What is it Aoki-chan?"

Aoki showed an unsure expression, "Can I… go to the summer festival next week?"

Both Aomine and Yukiko frowned upon her words, "Ha? Why you suddenly wanna go to the summer festival?" Aomine asked with a confused look.

"Isn't it the day of summer festival next week?"

Aomine scratched his cheek, "Maybe, I don't know, but why then you asked to go there out of the blue? You shouldn't go to there, can you see that you're not in a good shape to come to that place?"

"That's right Aoki-chan, you should listen to Aomine-kun. He is right," her mother eventually joined on Aomine's side.

Aoki just look away, "Well I think I should go to that kind of event. I haven't been to such a place even for once."

"Whaat? Are you kidding me? You haven't go there once?" Aomine gave her a disbelief look, only earned a sad look from her. She didn't lie. Aomine always think that go to a summer festival was a pain, especially with too-excited-Momoi-Satsuki. He always being dragged by her every year. Where is she again, why Satsuki hasn't bugging me to go that damn summer festival, thought Aomine.

"You can go there with Satsuki-chan and Aomine-kun, but not next week. You're not in a good condition," Yukiko added. That's true, she never let her daughter go to the festival and eventhough she want to let her go there, Aoki never showed her family that she actually interested to go. She herself hasn't came to such festival since she gave birth to Aoki. Her husband was so busy working to the point he couldn't get free time to take his dearly wife and daughter to the summer festival. And now, when Aoki was hospitalized suddenly she wanted to go. Yukiko couldn't help but felt guilty by looking to the sad face of her daughter.

"Wait here for a while Aoki, okay?" Yukiko said before she went out of the room. She wanted to talk to her husband. Maybe, if Aoki get better day by day, she could convince her husband to ask the doctor, to give a permission to Aoki so she could leave the hospital for a while, just to come to the summer festival. She didn't want her daughter to be caged in cellar named hospital and home. She had caged her daughter for all this time, prohibiting Aoki to go play outside.

Yukiko just arrived in the doctor's room when she found her husband immersed in a deep thoughts, both hands covering his face. Her husband let out a heavy sigh, before he said, "So should we bring Aoki to Europe or America?"

Wait, what happened here?
