213. The Loss of a Child
The pain of losing a child
never fades away:
not with time,
not with new children:
grandkids, to fill up the empty space,
not with weddings and christenings
and lots of new babies to play with
and feed, and happy times
with which the future fills
or the touches and whispers of a ghost
watching them from Heaven's sill,
smiling, wishing her happiness
and a long life…
But none of that can take away
the pain completely
of having lost a child.
