216. Smiling Scars
She can still smile and laugh.
Maybe it's because the world's changed
all round: her scars mean nothing now
except a show of bravery.
Nothing to be frowned at
or scorned at
or outcasted
or anything like that.
They're just scars from battle she bears
and inside, she's still the same,
with the same friends.
And, as long as she's not mourning
for other friends – lost friends –
she's fine.
