225. Without Makeup

For most people it was too easy to hide their face
under lipstick and mascara and sorts of glamour
and too easy to see underneath.

She, however, was an enigma.
She stood behind clear glass with dust and grime
and her form clear, rippling without the wave
and yet there was a sense of murkiness beneath the glass
that would fade despite how she rubbed at its face.

She smiled and there was no malicious intent
with that smile, nor in her eyes: those bright glittering orbs
that sparkled not like jewels but like the stars in the sky
that told of times of peace and war and other things
that only the Centaurs could grasp…

And she wanted to grasp this: this girl, that mystery
that couldn't be smudged by a bit of polish, a bit of foundation
but that wasn't so clear that she looked once through the glass
and was already bored.

She doubted she would ever be bored
of her.
