"You used us!" Sakura declared suddenly making all eyes turn to her, even Sasuke was a little taken aback, though he didn't show it, "you lied and used us just so you could get close to Sasuke! That's what you wanted all along you little sneak, to get close to him and manipulate him into doing what you wanted. I knew there was a reason why I didn't trust you. Using Naruto's feelings like that is despicable and you dare have the cheek to complain at me for being a little bit mean to him sometimes. You probably want them both so you can use both their powers for some evil scheme of yours. It's why you tried to kill me!"
"No!" Her eyes sought out Naruto's desperately but the blonde looked away from her, "what would I gain from doing something like that? I wouldn't-" she was cut off from her speech as she was punched hard in the stomach sending her flying up in the air and landing on the dirt above them. She clutched her stomach as pain filled her, slowly she rose to her knees and coughed hard as the wet sound of her blood hit the floor. "All this," she gasped out, sorrow filling her eyes, "because you're jealous he kissed me?"
"That has nothing to do with it!" Sakura screamed at her even though it was clear she was lying, "It's because you have betrayed Naruto's trust and as his friend it's my duty to protect him from people like you. You're just an evil person, who wants to hurt those Naruto cares about."
"Now that's just mean Sakura," Orocimaru's hissing, laughter filled voice sounded from behind Ana and suddenly he was there with Kabuto. "Sasuke don't you feeling guilty for causing this trouble? Poor Ana."
"This has nothing to do with me, Sakura is the delusional one." Sasuke shrugged.
"Naruto," Ana called out to the boy who just ignored her, tears welled in her eyes, "Naruto please just look at me." She was ignored again and the tears began to fall, there was a tense silence one that nobody dared to break not even as Yamato and Sai arrived on scene.
Naruto had his hands clenched by his side and confusion swam within him as Sakura's words echoed within his mind. Was it true? Was she just using him? He had begun to distance himself from his friends and rely on her more and more with each passing day. Sakura had become less involved in his life, he thought it was because he was seeing how cruel she actually was to him but what if that was just Ana manipulating him. He made a connection with her from the moment he met her but that could have been her plan. Was he just a tool for her? What if Ana hurting Sakura was on purpose? He knew Ana didn't like Sakura, despised her even. What if her being possessed was an excuse to harm Sakura? What if she hurt those he loved?
"Naruto," Ana cried, her voice small and desperate as her head bowed, her hands grasping at the dirt between her fingers.
"I shouldn't have trusted you," Naruto whispered, his quiet words seeming to be a roar in Ana's ears as she felt her heart shatter in her chest. "I shouldn't have… it was so easy you made me like you so easily… was it a lie? Your past I mean. Was it all made up so that I would drop my guard and you could use me like your own puppet."
"No, I never lied, not once." Ana said. She didn't care about what happened with Sakura at the hospital, she didn't care that she felt betrayed. Not if it meant losing Naruto for good.
"I don't understand, why else would be here? I just…" Naruto trailed off, his voice heavy with emotion. He was confused and torn and the only way he could see himself thinking this through properly is without Ana or Sakura around. But he couldn't get rid of Sakura, she was his teammate and a certified leaf kunoichi. So with a heavy heart, refusing to look at Ana knowing that if he did his resolve would break, he spoke. "Just leave Ana, before you cause any more problems," his voice was hard, his hands clenched tightly by his side.
"I can't Naruto, I made a promise and I don't break my promises." Her voice sounded pathetically weak even to her.
"Just go away, I don't care about your stupid promises," Naruto shouted, sad blue eyes glaring holes into the ground before him. He needed to think and he needed space away from Ana for now. He didn't want to sound so mean, but it was the only way he could get Ana to go.
"Naruto that's a little harsh don't you think?" Kabuto asked, though he didn't particularly care for the girl in front of him, the words he had spoken were unusually cruel and out of character.
"You don't mean that Naruto, please don't mean that." Ana looked desperately at him wanting him to lift his head so he could see the truth in her eyes but he never.
"Get lost, I don't want you to be with me anymore!"
The words echoed hollowly through her mind.
Ana stared with wide eyes as he uttered that sentence, the words being spoken by the one person she thought would never say it. The world before her eyes shattered into a million little pieces, joining the pieces of her heart. She was unaware of Orochimaru's laughter as he congratulated Naruto on breaking her, unaware of blue eyes staring into her vacant green orbs. Slowly she bowed her head and closed her eyes, her hands digging into the ground below her. Distantly she heard Orochimaru saying how she would be an excellent addition to their group and, like the calm before the storm, red eyes opened. Gone was the green and in its place was a cold, dark, burning fiery red and as the met Orochimaru's dead on, he felt like he was looking into the pits of hell.
"Do you think that I would join you?" She asked slowly, "to allow myself to become a tool in your twisted games? You are a bigger fool than I first assumed." She laughed heartlessly and took a step closer to where Orochimaru stood. Kabuto moving in front of the sanin as if to protect him only made her laugh harder. Her dark aura washing over them seductively, the power in it making Kabuto take a step back, suddenly seeing his life flash before his eyes. "Perhaps you may have fooled little green eyes, but she is so easy to manipulate, so trusting," her eyes slid over to Naruto, "such a shame really Naruto because my little green eyes adores you so. She practically worships the ground you walk on, and yet you betrayed so easily and all for what?"
She disappeared, reappearing next to Sakura, the pinkette immediately tried to jump back. She found herself unable as Ana's magic wrapped tight around her. "Don't worry pinky, I won't hurt you this time. Though I had lots of fun last time," the smile on Ana's face was nothing short of immensely creepy. "See if I hurt you then Naruto won't talk to little green eyes and then poor little me doesn't get to come out and play."
"Y-you're crazy," Sakura whispered with wide eyes.
"We're all mad here!" Ana declared, moving away from Sakura, enunciating her words further with hand gestures, "I'm mad, you're mad." (1)
"Ana please just stop, you're possessed again." Naruto said quietly.
"No, no dear boy," Ana walked over to him and placed her arm over his shoulder, "I'm not possessed, possession implies that sweet green eyes didn't want me to take over. But she did, this time at least. Would you like to know why?" She leant into Naruto and whispered, "because you broke her."
She giggled and danced away from him, she was right Naruto realised, this time the possession was different. The red eyed Ana was more carefree than before, more organised and less hate filled. Was this really his fault? Did he do this to Ana? Yes, he realised shortly, it was entirely his fault.
"It's all Naruto's fault…he made green eyes want to hide so she let me come out and say hello. But I'm afraid you won't see green eyes for a while, she's too sad to be here."
"Ana, please come back." Yamato said slowly, approaching the girl with extreme caution.
"Green eyed Ana isn't here right, please leave a message after the beep and she will get back to you at her earliest convenience."
"This isn't the time to play games," Yamato said.
A black blur suddenly speeded towards Ana, sword drawn but he didn't get a chance to land what would have been a painful blow. Ana raised her hand, making Sai hover in the air, her magic making him choke. "Now that was very sneaky and underhanded, attacking me when I'm busy," she grinned before releasing him, "I like it."
Sai coughed and spluttered on the ground, watching the witch wearily now as if he just understood the magnitude of her powers. Ana turned away, looking up at Sasuke and within a blink of an eye she was standing next to him. She walked around him, appraising him from head to toe as he stood there cold and stiff.
"You're such a statue Uchiha," she frowned, not liking his stillness at all. She smirked victoriously as she reached out with her magic and brushed it against him. He twitched, his eyes darkening in lust slightly. "Oh dear it seems you so statue-like after all. Do you get it now? The reason behind your actions earlier, why you kissed green eyes?" She laughed and circled him once more, "it's because of our aura, our magical essence. You're attracted to it like a bee to honey. You like power, you crave it don't you? And see we are like a hive of untamed power, the queen bee, so like a hungry little worker bee you wanted to taste what isn't yours to have."
Ana moved away from him slightly, "the kiss was hot, really it was, but green eyes is so innocent she never got a chance to appreciate it. Honestly, I get why girls like pinky go all goo goo eyed over you. You're handsome and have a killer body to boot, but other than that what are you? A moody cry baby who can't get over his inferiority complex he has with his brother." She sighed dramatically, "this whole tragedy thing with you and your brother has Shakespeare written all over it. To be or not to that is the question…"
"Don't speak about my brother," Sasuke said, his voice dangerously low as his hand hovered over the sword at his side.
"Okay, okay I get it, Itachi Uchiha is a forbidden fruit." she laughed backing away from him, "oh I like myself some forbidden fruit. There is something so delicious about it, perhaps I will go have myself a taste."
Ana found herself lifted into the air and a hand round her neck, Sasuke's face inches from her own seething with a restrained anger. "Itachi is mine," he hissed at her but Ana only laughed and extended her aura around everyone. Laughing harder at each person's reaction to it.
"Possessive much? Does the ickle baby Uchiha want his big brother all to himself? That's not nice, didn't your mother teach you to share?" the hand around her neck tightened, "you want to kill your brother fair enough. I mean he killed your family, revenge is pretty much a given." She disappeared from his grasp and appeared a little ways away from them. "But haven't you ever wondered why he did it?"
"He did it to test his strength," Sasuke's jaw clenched tightly.
"I call bullshit!" Ana declared happily, throwing her arms wide.
"Itachi wanted to te-"
"Lies," she shouted, interrupting him, "Sasuke be a dear and shut the hell up, now just stop and think about it for a moment. What was Itachi like while you were growing up? Now compare it to his actions and the days leading up to the event. Why would a guy who just wanted to test his strength and slaughter his clan keep his brother alive? Why are you alive right now Sasuke?"
"Because he wanted me to take revenge…" there was a slight waver in voice, as though he was unsure.
"True, true, I can't argue with that. But did you ever stop to think that he kept you alive because he couldn't kill you? An innocent child he loved? Did you think that he wants you to avenge your clan because he feels guilty for doing it? No? Well I'm sure you will now."
Sasuke remained silent and Ana laughed again, pleased that she had caused him to rethink things and send his mind into a spiral of doubt. She loved playing with people. She stood straighter and clapped her hands together. "Right, I'm off to find some real information, arrivederci my friends," she paused and sent a piercing look at Naruto, "oh wait, I forgot, you aren't my friends. Ciao." She disappeared with a swirl of magic.
She appeared in a woods and, grinning, she sat down by a tree and waited. Her red eyes glancing around, taking in the trees until finally they stopped on one tree. She didn't have to wait for long. Two figures emerged from its shadows, one she was familiar with and the other she knew from the rumours and stories. Her grin slowly transformed into a smile as the figures noticed her, their black cloaks shifting in the wind, making the red cloud pattern on them dance.
"You," one of the men said, though in Ana's opinion he was more of a fish than a man. "What the hell are you doing here?" He grabbed his sword but Ana, not even looking at the figure, merely waved her hand and sent him crashing back into the trees. Her attention was on the other figure.
"Uchiha Itachi I presume." She stood then and slowly approached him, staring without fear into his eyes. "I'd like some answers from you. Oh I should warn you, your little eye tricks won't work on me, you see I have very strong barriers around my mind."
(1) A little quote from Lewis Carroll's Alice's Adventures in Wonderland.
A/N: I had to leave it there, I just had to! Naruto isn't sure about anything anymore, the poor lad and Ana has officially gone off the deep end and has allowed 'Tom' to take over. Sakura is being mean :'( and Sasuke is just being, well, Sasuke.
So next chapter will have Itachi's and Ana's first meeting and a deeper explanation of Ana's psyche.
Please Review.
