Lucas opens his eyes to see Sami.
Sami
"Good afternoon sleeping beauty."
Lucas
"Afternoon? How long was I out?"
Sami
"Long enough for me to miss you."
Lucas
"Aww shucks."
Sami smiles.
Sami
"How do you feel?"
Lucas
"Like half my liver is gone."
Sami
"Hmm….that sounds about right."
They smile at one another.
NURSE'S STATION
Melanie's looking through some files when Nathan walks up. Melanie looks over and smile.
Melanie
"Ooh sex Dr. Horton reporting for duty."
Nathan looks through some files.
Melanie
"What's wrong?"
Nathan pauses.
Nathan
"Just thinking."
Melanie
"About what?"
Nathan
"What if Nick really got a job here? Then we would have to deal with him all day."
Melanie
"Forget about Nick."
Hope walks up.
Hope
"What's this about Nick?"
Nathan and Melanie look at her.
Nathan
"Nick is out of jail."
Hope is shocked.
JAVA CAFÉ
Chloe gets some tea. She turns around and runs into Daniel.
Chloe
"Oh I'm sorry."
Daniel
"It's fine. No spillage."
Chloe
"Good I'm glad."
Chloe smiles then starts to walk away. Daniel stops her.
Daniel
"Wait, Chloe."
Chloe stops and turns around.
Chloe
"Yeah."
Daniel
"How…how are you…and the baby?"
Chloe touches her baby and smiles.
Chloe
"We're doing great."
Daniel
"I'm glad."
Chloe
"How are you doing?"
Daniel
"I'm…I'm doing fine."
Chloe
"Good. I'm glad."
Daniel
"Well I better get to the hospital."
Chloe
"Well have fun."
Daniel
"Always."
Daniel heads towards the door. Chloe takes a seat. Daniel turns around and looks at Chloe one more time before he leaves.
UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Stephanie and Phillip bump into each other.
Stephanie
"Phillip, well I can't say I'm surprised that you were released."
Phillip
"Not just released, but all the charges were dropped."
Stephanie
"What? How?"
Phillip
"There's no proof that I did it."
Stephanie
"Except for a video that clearly shows your car plowing into Nicole then driving off."
Phillip
"Justin told the judge that the tape went missing for some time and could have been tampered with."
Stephanie
"Uncle Justin ratted me out?"
Phillip stares at her
KIRIAKIS MANSION
Gus comes downstairs with a bag.
Gus
"Madam, you forgot one bag, but I have it."
Gus gets downstairs.
Gus
"Madam?"
Gus walks towards the living room and notices Vivian on the floor.
Gus
"MADAM!"
He kneels down to check on Vivian.
Gus
"Oh no. What happened? Madam? Answer me?"
He gets no response. Henderson walks to the door.
Henderson
"Is everything ok?"
He sees Vivian on the ground.
Henderson
"Oh my goodness. What happened?"
Gus
"I'm not sure.
Henderson
"I will can for an ambulance."
Gus
"Ok."
Henderson picks on the phone to call 911. Gus holds Vivian in his arms and brushes her hair.
LUCAS' ROOM
Lucas
"So how is Johnny?"
Sami
"He's doing great thanks to his daddy."
Lucas
"I'm happy to oblige."
Sami
"It's just so amazing how the last couple of days have gone. One minute I fear that I would lose Johnny to EJ to fearing I was going to lose Johnny after the accident to Johnny's not EJ's he's yours and you saving his life."
Lucas
"Yeah it is."
Sami
"Now I just worry about Sydney."
Lucas
"Who may not be yours?"
Sami
"I've been thinking about that."
Lucas
"And?"
Sami
"I agree. We should do a DNA test to know for sure. Is Sydney mine and EJ's or EJ's and Nicole's?"
Kate walks in.
Kate
"Well, well, well."
Sami and Lucas look at her standing in the door way.
NURSE'S STATION
Hope
"When did Nick get out?"
Nathan
"Last night. He just showed up at Maggie's."
Hope
"Wow, this is great."
Melanie
"Yeah, great."
Hope
"I know you don't like Nick."
Melanie
"It's not that I don't like Nick, it's just I was caught off guard about him just popping back up in town. That's all."
Hope
"How about you Nathan?"
Nathan
"I think it's just all a little weird. I mean I don't know the guy very well, but still. And he wants to come and work at the hospital."
Nick walks off the elevator and sees Melanie, Nathan, and Hope. He walks over to them.
Hope
"That's great. Nick was a great chemist."
Nick
"Are you guys talking about me?"
Hope
"Hey cousin."
Hope hugs Nick.
Hope
"I'm so happy you're out."
Nick
"Thank you Hope. So how are you and Bo and Ciara?"
Hope
"Well Bo and I are divorced."
Nick
"Oh I'm sorry."
Hope
"It's fine. Ciara's doing great. All A's."
Nick
"Awesome."
Hope
"Well I don't want to keep you from your job hunt. I have to get going, but you should come over for dinner. Ciara would love to see you again."
Nick
"It's a date."
Hope
"Great, see you later."
Nick
"See ya."
Hope heads for the elevator.
Melanie
"So Nick, you're really looking for a job here?"
Nick
"Is that a problem?"
Melanie
"No, you're free to apply anywhere you want to."
Nick
"Good."
Nick smiles then walks away.
Nathan
"Well I need to get back to my rounds."
Melanie
"Wait, are you mad at me?"
Nathan
"No."
Nathan walks away. Melanie doesn't seem convinced.
UNIVERSITY HOSPITAL
Phillip
"No he didn't say that it was stole. Just that it was missing for some time then reappeared."
Stephanie
"So basically he ratted me out."
Phillip
"What? No. Are you even listening to me?"
Stephanie
"Yes I am. I know that Justin threw me under the bus to save your sorry ass."
Phillip
"He didn't mention you at all. My goodness Stephanie, have you lost your mind?"
Stephanie
"My mind is just fine thank you."
Phillip
"I think you should talk to somebody. You've been through a lot with Nathan and then that Eddie guy. I think you need professional help."
Stephanie
"You're the crazy person. This whole thing is all your fault. You just had to sleep with Chloe and get her pregnant so Melanie could go running into Nathan's arms."
Phillip
"I should have never married Melanie. She was clearly in love with Nathan. If I could see it then you should have too."
Stephanie
"So now this is my fault?"
Phillip
"You should have never gotten involved with Nathan just like I should have never gotten involved with Melanie."
Stephanie
"Of course. Everything's Stephanie's fault."
Phillip
"Stephanie, grow up and take responsibility for your own actions."
Stephanie stares angrily at Phillip as Vivian is being wheeled in.
Gus
"We need a doctor."
Gus yells. Stephanie and Phillip look over. Daniel rushes over.
Daniel
"What do we have here?"
Paramedic
"Madam was just fine when I went upstairs. I come back down and I found her passed out on the ground. Please help her."
Daniel takes out his flashlight and checks Vivian's eyes.
Daniel
"Did she ingest anything? Food? Any liquids?"
Gus
"She did have a drink."
Gus thinks.
Gus
"Yes that's the last thing she had."
Daniel
"Roll her to exam room 1."
The paramedics wheel Vivian pass Stephanie and Phillip. Daniel rushes behind them. Phillip approaches Gus.
Phillip
"Hey Gus, what happened to Vivian?"
Gus
"She had a drink and collapsed."
Phillip
"That's weird."
Gus
"Oh no. What if she was poisoned?"
Gus yells. Stephanie looks at him.
Phillip
"Calm down, calm down."
Gus takes a deep breath.
Phillip
"Daniel is a good doctor."
Gus
"So I've heard."
Phillip
"Yeah so I'm sure Vivian will be feeling better in no time."
Gus
"Yes. Oh I should contact Mr. Kiriakis."
Phillip
"I'll take care of it."
Gus
"Thank you."
Phillip
"I gotta get going. Are you going to be ok?"
Gus
"Much better."
Phillip
"Good."
Gus goes to sit down. Phillip turns around and pulls out his phone. Stephanie approaches him.
Stephanie
"I hope that you get what's coming to you just like Vivian."
Phillip puts his phone to his ear as Stephanie walks away. He calls Victor.
Phillip
"Hey dad, there's something up with Vivian. She's in the hospital. I think you should get down here when you get a chance. Ok, bye."
LUCAS' ROOM
Lucas
"Mom, what are you doing here?"
Kate closes the door and walks closer to Lucas' bed.
Kate
"What am I doing here? I'm here to see if my son and my new grandson are alright."
Sami
"How do you even know about this?"
Kate
"EJ."
Sami
"EJ, of course."
Kate
"Yes he's all pouty face that he's not Johnny's father and Lucas' is. I think it's a blessing. Now he's only half done with you."
Kate smiles at Sami. Sami rolls her eyes.
Lucas
"Well I'm fine, so you can go do whatever."
Kate
"Why are you in such a hurry to get rid of me?"
Sami
"Because you're sucking up all the air."
Lucas
"No because I'm going to be fine."
Kate
"Why is Sami by your bedside anyways? Where is Alex?"
Lucas
"She had to meet with a client, it was urgent."
Kate
"What's more urgent that her boyfriend in the hospital?"
Lucas
"I told her to go."
Sami
"I basically had to kick her out."
Kate
"I bet you did."
Lucas
"I don't need the two of you fighting after everything."
Kate
"Well Sami can leave, I'm staying."
Sami
"I'm not going anywhere."
Kate
"Can you leave for a little while? I would like to talk to my son please."
Lucas
"She said please? This must be important."
Kate
"It is."
Sami
"Fine. I'll go and check to see if Johnny's awake."
Kate
"Good."
Sami walks out. Kate makes sure Sami's gone before she takes a seat at Lucas' bedside.
Lucas
"So what is so important that we need to talk about right now?"
Kate
"You need to stay the hell away from Sami."
Lucas
"It's kinda hard to do so when we share not 2 but 3 kids and we live together."
Kate
"Sami and Rafe still live at your place? It's been months."
Lucas
"They're looking. Sami's been stressed with the EJ drama and Rafe's swamped at work."
Kate
"I don't care about that. They need to move ASAP. If you keep spending time with Sami, you're going to ruin your relationship with Alex."
Lucas
"Alex is fine with Sami and me spending time together. We're just two friends that have kids together."
Kate
"Yeah until Sami wants you back."
Lucas
"She has Rafe."
Kate
"Rafe will walk away from Sami soon enough. They all do. You're the only idiot that keeps coming back for more. Well you and EJ, but he has woken up and moved on with Nicole. Not exactly a better choice."
Lucas
"I just got part of my liver taken out. I don't really feel like arguing with you about Sami. So maybe we can pick this up in a few…never."
Kate
"Whatever. You go ahead and stay connected to Sami all you want to. The only reason you're still breathing is because I'm married to Stefano."
Lucas
"So marrying Stefano does have an advantage."
Kate gets up and walks towards the door.
Kate
"Keep on dealing with Sami. And let her pull you into another one of her stupid schemes all you want, but don't you come crawling to me when it all blows up on your faces."
Kate opens the door and walks out and runs into Phillip.
Phillip
"Mom? What's wrong?"
THE PARK
Baker is sitting in the park reading the paper when Jason walks up.
Jason
"Dr. Baker, long time no see."
Baker looks up from his paper for a second then continues to read.
Baker
"I've been busy."
Jason
"I bet I know with whom."
Baker
"What is it that you want?"
Jason
"I need you to do me a favor."
Baker
"I don't want to do any favors for you."
Jason snatches the paper from Baker. Baker stands up and gets into his face.
Jason
"Tough luck. Do you really think you can get away from The Boss that easily? Especially after everything that's happened? Plus you own me for keeping you out of trouble."
Baker stares angrily as Jason turns to the front paper.
Jason
"We both know that Phillip Kiriakis didn't run over Nicole Walker."
Jason shows Baker the article on Phillip.
Jason
"And we both know he did it."
Hope walks up behind Jason.
Hope
"Hey, is everything alright?"
Jason and Baker look over at her.
Baker
"Hope, hey."
Baker walks over to Hope.
Baker
"Yeah everything's ok."
Jason
"Yes Hope. I was just telling Baker about a new job opportunity."
Hope
"Oh really? Where?"
Jason
"At University Hospital."
Hope
"That's great."
Baker
"Yeah great."
Hope
"I think you should go for it."
Jason
"Listen to Hope, Baker. It's a great opportunity."
Baker
"It is, but I will have to think about it."
Hope's phone rings. She pulls it out of her pocket.
Hope
"Excuse me."
She looks at the id.
Hope
"It's Ciara. I'm going to take this. You guys keep talking."
Baker
"Ok."
Hope walks away. Baker stares at Jason.
Baker
"A job opportunity at University Hospital?"
Jason
"Yes."
Baker
"Doing what?"
Jason
"My assistant."
Baker
"I'm not going to be your assistant."
Jason
"You have no choice. If you don't then I will hand over all the proof I have that Hope ran down Nicole Walker."
Baker
"You said you wouldn't."
Jason
"I saw a lot of things that I don't mean. All I know is that you have no choice so be ready to start work on my command. You only have one more chance to turn yourself around before The Boss steps in again and you don't want that now do you?"
Baker thinks for a moment.
Baker
"Fine. Just tell me where and when."
Jason
"I'll get back to you."
Jason gives Baker an evil smile then walks away. Hope walks up to Baker.
Hope
"Is everything ok?"
Baker
"Yes, everything's perfect now that you're here."
Hope smiles.
Hope
"So did you accept the job offer?"
Baker
"Yes I did."
Hope
"Awesome. Then you'll be working with my cousins. Well one hopefully the other as well."
Baker
"That'll be fun."
Hope
"And I'll get to see you after my sessions."
Baker smiles.
Baker
"I would love that."
Hope
"I have some free time now. Ciara wants to bake cookies at a friend's house. So do you want to get something to eat?"
Baker
"I'm starving, let's go."
Hope smiles.
OUTSIDE OF LUCAS' ROOM
Kate
"Yes, everything's fine."
Phillip
"Who were you visiting?"
Kate
"Lucas."
Phillip
"What's wrong with him?"
Kate
"Oh I'm not the only one that was out of the loop. Well Lucas gave a part of his liver to his son."
Phillip
"Why did Will need a new liver?"
Kate
"Not Will, Johnny."
Phillip
"What? Johnny's EJ's son."
Kate
"Not anymore according to Daniel and Lexie. They ran some test to see if EJ would be a match and they find out that they aren't even related. So the only other possible father was Lucas and Lucas was a match."
Phillip
"Wow. Things you miss when you're locked up."
Kate
"You were locked up? For what?"
Phillip
"Hit and run."
Kate
"Who did you hit?"
Phillip
"Nicole."
Kate
"You're the one that hit Nicole?"
Phillip
"Yeah apparently, there was a tape that showed a car hitting Nicole and it looked like mine, but Justin and Nicole got me off. So I'm good."
Kate
"Well next time you should back up and run over her again to make sure that she's dead."
Phillip
"What? Mom, come on."
Kate
"What? I'm just a mom trying to give her son some hit and run pointers."
Phillip
"That's not normal."
Kate
"Well suit yourself."
Sami walks up.
Sami
"Phillip, nice to see you."
Phillip
"I'm sure."
Sami
"If you're here to see Lucas, you'll have to wait. They're about to run some test on him."
Phillip
"Well good that gives me some time to call Chloe."
Phillip takes out his phone and prepares to call Chloe. Kate and Sami laugh.
Phillip
"I heard that."
Phillip walks away to call Chloe. Kate turns to Sami.
Sami
"Well at least we have something in common."
Kate
"Our dislike for Chloe."
Kate starts to walk away, but she turns back around.
Kate
"And Mia."
Sami
"Don't get me started on that one."
Kate
"You and Mia are pretty similar. Annoying little tramps that are trying to sink their claws into my son and grandson, but just so you know Sami. I know you're up to something and you're dragging Lucas into it. I will find out and I will eliminate you from Lucas' life…for good."
Sami gives Kate a sly smile.
Sami
"I'm not up to anything Kate. So you can snoop or do whatever it is that you do, but you'll come up empty."
Kate starts to walk away, but Sami follows.
Sami
"And there's nothing that you can do that'll kick me out of Lucas' life."
Kate turns back around.
Sami
"Like it or not. I'm the mother of his 3 kids and that'll never change."
Kate
"Unfortunately, but don't ever underestimate me."
Sami
"Oh I'll never do that Kate. Even though everything you've tried to do to keep Lucas and I apart hasn't work and will never work. It's just a temporary thing that can be easily fixed."
Kate
"And how does Rafe think about this? Hmm?"
Sami
"Rafe knows Lucas and I are great friends."
Kate
"Rafe will walk ways in due time and I hope I have a ringside seat to that disaster."
Kate gives Sami one last smile before she walks away.
Sami
"Whatever I'm not going to lose Rafe or Lucas."
Sami says to herself. In the corner, Phillip talks on the phone with Chloe.
Phillip
"Hey Chloe."
Chloe
"Hey, what's up?"
Phillip
"Change of plans. I'm going to be at the hospital for a little while longer."
Chloe
"Why? What's wrong?"
Phillip
"Lucas is in the hospital."
Chloe
"Why? What happened?"
Phillip
"He gave part of his liver to Johnny who is now his son."
Chloe
"What?"
Phillip
"Yeah crazy right?"
Chloe
"Uh, yeah."
Phillip
"So is it ok if we just meet up for dinner?"
Chloe
"Of course."
Chloe smiles through the phone.
Phillip
"Great, I'll see you at The Pub. I'll text you when I'm about to leave."
Chloe
"Ok. Bye."
Phillip
"Bye."
They both smile as they hang up. Before Phillip could turn around, someone hits him over the head. He falls to the ground. In the waiting area, Daniel finds Gus.
Daniel
"Gus"
Gus rushes over.
Gus
"Is Vivian already?"
Daniel
"I'm afraid that Vivian has slipped into a coma."
Gus is devastated.
NURSE'S STATION
Nick and Lexie approach the desk.
Lexie
"Well Nick, I'm happy that you're doing better and that you want to work here at the hospital."
Nick
"Thank you Lexie. I do look forward to working here."
Lexie
"There's a lot of great reasons to work here."
Lexie gets a page.
Lexie
"I gotta take this, but I'll give you a call when I get more on that position from Dr. Walters."
Nick
"Ok. Bye."
Lexie walks off. Nick heads to the elevator. He turns back and sees Melanie walk up to the desk.
Nick
"Lexie's right. There are so many reasons to want to work here."
Nick smiles. Melanie turns around and sees him smile. She smiles back. Nick turns and gets on the elevator.
