And yet another chapter! This chapter is not much but it introduces a new character which will contribute to the story in future.

CHAPTER 15

"I'm pregnant", she shouted, not able to take his rant anymore. That seemed to do the trick, since he just stood still, eyes held wide. He was just staring at her, shocked to silence. "Nathan say something", she all but whispered but the silence continued at the other end. This definitely changes things between them but was it for the better or worse?

"How", Nathan whispered after what seemed like hours but in reality, just minutes passed by in silence.

How? What kind of question is that? Haley gave him an incredulous look, "How do you think genius?"

"But", Nathan was at loss for words, "you were on the pill right?"

"Yes but it didn't work. I got pregnant anyway", she said weakly. How was she supposed to explain this?

Nathan could feel panic and anger taking over. "Did you do this on purpose?"

Haley was taken aback by his accusation. Was he serious right now? "Yes I did it on purpose. Because it was my ultimate aim in life to get knocked up by you at age 17", she bit out, sarcasm dripping from her voice.

"Exactly Haley! How could this happen? We are freaking 17 years old ... this isn't...", Nathan was breathing heavily. He was in full panic mode thinking about having a child. And not just any woman, this was Haley, the woman who he loved to no extent, also the same woman who he did not trust anymore. "How long did you know?"

"A few weeks", she replied weakly.

Nathan could feel his blood boiling. "Why didn't you mention this in one of your letters?"

"I wanted to but it didn't feel right".

"Is this some kind of sick joke? Are you lying just so that we could get back together?"

Haley couldn't believe her ears. She could feel her throat tightening and tears stinging her eyes but she stayed calm. Since Nathan was already panicking and spitting out the most ridiculous theories, at least she had to keep a straight mind. "I know this is really a shock-"

"No shit" he mumbled but she carried on like it didn't affect her.

"-but I thought you have the right to know that I'm having this child", she maintained her voice at a low tone and she felt proud of herself for keeping it together at such a sensitive situation. "I have an appointment on Wednesday and you can come if you want to".

"How do I know if it's even mine?" Nathan asked before he stopped himself. "It could belong to Keller for all I know". Seeing the look on her face nearly killed him at that moment. She looked so hurt.

Haley couldn't help the lone tear that rolled down her cheek when she heard those hurtful words. Nathan was one of the few people who knew how she was about sex. "I didn't sleep with Chris. Nothing happened between us I-" she couldn't help the sob that escaped her.

He couldn't take it anymore. Wanting to hurt her is one thing but actually letting it happen is something else. "Haley-" he tried to step closer to her but she stepped back while shaking her head. He watched helplessly as she walked away.

She turned around and walked away quickly, not wanting to cry in front of him. Damn you pregnancy hormones. Keep it together Haley, she coached herself, all this stress is not good for the baby.

Haley was at the hospital waiting to be called for her monthly check-up. The hospital was quite busy with people walking around in a fast pace and someone probably died because a crying female could be heard from somewhere in this depressing building. But Haley was completely unaware of the activities around her. Her thoughts were drowned on her pregnancy and the father of her child who is MIA. She wanted him to come and she made sure he knew what the schedule is but he still hadn't showed up. Maybe he decided to have no part in this. But that is something Dan would do. OMG! I am Karen and Nathan is Dan. I could totally see history repeat itself. Now all that has to be done is for Nathan to sleep with Peyton and have a child with her. That way he can marry her for her money and raise their jackass child together.

"That sounds like a good plan but you have a lot more money that Peyton", her wild mind was interrupted by the voice of Nathan. Crap! Was I saying all that out loud? Great job Haley! He's gonna think you finally lost your mind.

He had an amused smile on his face, all his worries for the day gone when he heard her ridiculous mutterings, "and I am nothing like Dan", he said in all seriousness as he took a seat next to her, "although the circumstances are not in our favour, I will stand by you through this", he laid his hand atop hers while looking at her with sincerity.

Haley felt her heart racing at his admission. She knew she shouldn't get ahead of herself but couldn't help feeling a little bit of hope that they might get back together again. After their break-up, her life went back to the same old lonely routine. She still had Lucas and Brooke (who is currently living with Haley) but she still missed Nathan so much. He was the only family she had ever since her father got locked up.

The couple looked at each other and they lost themselves for a moment before a nurse called out to Haley. "Haley James", the two looked away and towards the nurse that called her name, "we're ready for you", the nurse said and asked them to follow her.

The two followed the nurse into a room with a sonogram machine, a bed a few tables and a changing curtain. The nurse handed a hospital gown to Haley and told her that the doctor will see her in a few minutes. Haley walked over to the changing curtain with the gown but stopped abruptly and turned around to look at him. She looked a little indecisive.

"Turn around", she said almost looking embarrassed.

Nathan could feel a smile forming on his face but he tried his best to hold it in. "Why", he asked.

"Just do it!", she grumbled while rolling her eyes. Gosh why do I feel so shy around this guy?

"It's not like I haven't seen it all before", he had a smug smile on his face.

"Nathan", she all but yelled out.

"Okay", he said holding his hands up in defeat, "Okay". He turned around, his smile still planted on his face. She is too adorable for her own good. As soon as that thought entered his head, he got it out. He didn't want to think like that about her considering he still wasn't ready to be with her that way. But if she keeps acting like this, I'm gonna have a hard time keeping my resolve.

Haley dressed in her gown, laid down on the bed and covered her bottom half with the sheet. She seemed to know what she's doing. This made Nathan wonder about something.

"How many times did you come here?" he asked.

"I just came here once before", she said, "before that, it was to confirm what the pregnancy stick told me".

After a few more minutes the doctor walked in. "Hello Haley. How are you?" she seemed friendly enough, "and I see someone else will be joining us today" she looked at Nathan.

"Hello Dr. Gupta and yeah this is Nathan Scott", she said, "He's the father". Haley seemed a little uncomfortable introducing him.

"Nice to meet you Nathan", the doctor shook his hand, "and getting back to you..." she turned to Haley, "how are you feeling?"

"Fine".

"And the morning sickness?"asked the doctor. Nathan frowned at that. He didn't know Haley was getting sick and that unsettled him. He needs to read some damn books. He didn't know anything about this stuff.

"Doesn't occur very often, thank God for that", Haley smiled.

"Yes that is very normal. Now lift up your gown", Haley did as she told while Dr. Gupta picked up the gel, "you know how this is gonna feel" said the doctor as she squirted some of the clear gel onto her flat stomach.

The doctor switched on the machine and connected the wand. She placed the wand over Haley's still flat stomach and moved it around a bit. Sure enough, an image started appearing on the screen. Haley gasped in wonder while Nathan just looked on curiously. Without noticing, Nathan held Haley's hand and laced their fingers as he looked at the screen in wonder. "And that's your baby", said Dr. Gupta. "Your baby's growth seems perfectly fine and next time we'll be able to tell the sex".

The couple just nodded their head, their focus solely on the monitor. After their appointment, the two walked out of the hospital together. Nathan was still staring at the picture of the sonogram. With the way he was looking, Haley was getting a little nervous.

"Nathan" she called but he didn't listen, "Nathan", she called a little louder which he heard and looked at her with wide eyes. "So how do you feel about this? You've been staring at the picture for a long time".

"It looks like a peanut", he said in all seriousness.

Haley looked completely shocked for a moment before she burst into laughter. Nathan was a little taken aback by her behaviour but he still broke into a smile. Her laughter did that to him.

"I still can't believe this is real that's all" he said. And that comment brought back all the tension that was supposed to be there between the two of them from morning. An awkward silence filled until Nathan broke the silence, "so I should get back... got some... things to do.." he stuttered.

Haley knew that he had his walls up again and that he was pulling away from her. "Nathan" she wanted to ask him out for lunch but he didn't let her finish.

"I gotta go Haley see you around". With that being said, he walked away.

Haley just stood there, staring at his retreating form still wondering if they can ever get back to how they used to be. She sighed to herself and went to her own bike. The doctor probably wouldn't approve of her mode of transport but Haley knew she was fine for a few more weeks.

It was lunch hour at school and Haley was having one of the busiest days of her life. It didn't help that she was always tired. Thankfully the morning sickness ended completely. That was one less thing to worry about. Another incident that makes her cranky is that everyone is talking about her. She could hear hushed whispers around her when she's at lunch or at her locker. Usually, these conversations go along the line of what a bitch Haley is and that Nathan deserves a lot better than her. She tried not to be affected by all that but sometimes she found herself locked up at one of the bathroom stalls, crying. She knew all this stress is not good for the baby but she couldn't help herself. People didn't know about her pregnancy but it's not like she could hide it for much longer. Everything is already against her and she knew it was all going to get worse when people find out about her pregnancy.

She couldn't ponder much into her thoughts as someone's shoulder knocked her hard. She stopped in her track and winced in pain. She was going to give her intruder a piece of her mind but the other person beat her to it. "Watch where you're going bitch", spat out Paige. Paige is the top player in the

girls soccer team. Haley played soccer too although she didn't take it very seriously like Paige, her coach told he that she was good and that she is an important asset of their team. They were good friends and they hung out at the river court sometimes, of course all this happened before Haley went on tour. Ever since Haley returned, Paige made it very clear that she didn't approve of Haley's sudden departure from school and most importantly from the team. "It's a good thing you're not on the team anymore huh? That tour messed up with your coordination I guess", Paige all but spat out.

"You know what Paige I think you're just relieved that I'm not there to threaten your spot on field anymore", Haley lashed out for the first. Paige had made snide comments about her before but today, she was done taking it all in.

"Bitch please". Paige scoffed and took a step closer, "your ass is worthless. That's why you got kicked off the team. You got kicked off the tour and now that boyfriend of yours won't even take you back". She watched in amusement as she saw fire in Haley's eyes "Besides I don't blame him. He won't give a shit about you considering he fucked my brains out last week".

And that's all that Haley could take. Before thinking, she slapped Paige hard across her face. Paige was stunned for a moment but she looked at Haley again with pure rage. She held a smirk in her face. "You're gonna pay for that", that being said, Paige tackled Haley and the two girls started a full blown brawl.

Nathan was sitting at the benches outside when he heard some commotion. He turned around to see a large group of people huddled around something. Nathan figured it must be something interesting since he could hear a few boys cheering loudly and a few others standing on benches and chairs to get a better view. Nathan made his way over to the crowd and stepped on a table to see. The sight before him drained all colour from his face. Haley and one of the soccer girls, Nathan remembered her name to be Paige, were fighting like they wanted to kill each other. Considering these are two strong, athletic girls, they weren't having a girly cat fight. This was a full blown brawl with punches being thrown.

He watched as Haley winced in pain when Paige slammed her back against a pillar. Nathan had had enough. He got down from the table and made his way through the crowd. He didn't have to push through too much since people made way for him anyway. Perks of being the king of school! He made his way over to the fight scene and watched in shock as Haley threw a punch which almost seemed to break the other girl's jaw. That has got to hurt he thought.

Nathan got in between the two girls and started pulling Haley away. He was thankful when someone else seemed to share his views when this other boy grabbed Paige by the waist and pulled her away too. Nathan could hear a bunch of guys expressing their disappointment in breaking up a fight, Tim being the loudest of them all.

The girls were still trying to wiggle their way out from the guys' strong grasp when Whitey's voice rang through everyone's ears. "What the hell is going on here?" he shouted and suddenly, everyone went silent. Whitey looked over at the two girls who were bruised, out of breath and bleeding mildly and knew who the culprits of all this chaos were. "You two", he pointed at Paige and Haley, "Principal's office now". Paige tried to object but Whitey cut her off saying, "I could make this into a suspension Miss. Rivers" and that shut her up.

The crowd started clearing out. Nathan was still holding Haley's arm. She looked at him and he immediately dropped his hand. She was about to say something to him when she heard Whitey yell again. This made her jump a little and she immediately went into the school building alongside Paige.

Nathan just looked at her retreating form. He knew what the girls at school were talking about her and he wished he could help her with that. All this animosity was taking its toll on her but he didn't think she would lose all regards for the safety of herself and their child like that. He's going to have to talk to her about that. Taking one deep breath, he grabbed his bag and made his way to his next class, his mind still fixed on Haley.

Ta-da! Naley are not back together again because I didn't want the pregnancy to be the only reason they pull it together. The Naley reunion will be a lot more dramatic.
