First off sorry I take so long to update I really do apologize and I know I suck. Secondly White Bishop I'm sorry it took me so long to write this but I finally got it to where I liked it and I hope you approve, thank you for the idea and if you have another I'd happily write it for you, Thank you soccernin19.

As Dick walked back into the team's section of the watchtower all he could think about was how badly he wanted to sleep and kiss Babs, yeah those two things sounded great. He'd been on a weeklong mission in Kosovo with Beast Boy, Guardian, Blue Beetle, Static, and Superboy to stop the Injustice league from doing their usual evil take over the world thing.

"Good work team, get some rest I'll see you in two days" Nightwing smiled at his team as he finished his debriefing and they left either to the Zeta tubes or to their rooms.

Once everyone had left Dick allowed himself to release a tired sign, he had to run back to his and Babs' apartment before patrolling Bludhaven and only after would he be able to sleep for an hour or two before heading to work.

Releasing another sign Dick headed to the Zeta tubes, the bright light engulfing him for a second before he found himself in the abandoned warehouse that hosted one of Bludhaven's Zeta tubes. Existing he took out his grabbling hook and shot it at a nearby building, allowing it to pull him to the roof of the building where he began the familiar dance of jumps and flips as he raced across roof tops.

Within minutes he was on top of their apartment building, he could hear Babs' voice carrying out an open window followed by several other familiar voices. Smirking Dick pushed at a panel on a ventilation shaft, the shaft shifting sideways revealing a staircase to what he had affectionately named the nest.

Entering the shaft quickly shifted it back into place hiding any existence of either the nest or Nightwing. Inside was a room filled with everything he or Babs would need for their nighttime lifestyle, the only things not in his nest were their motorcycles which were hidden in the warehouse that had once been the Team's headquarters. Which he had turned into a second nest should he or Babs not be able get back to the apartment.

Dick stripped himself of his week old uniform and threw on a pair of sweatpants and t-shirt, moving to the only empty corner of the room he pressed another panel and the floor there also shifted and unfolded a stair case which he promptly climbed down, ending up in his and Babs bedroom. Reaching up he pulled the cord on the ceiling fan several times causing it to close the opening he had just appeared from.

Once satisfied that everything was sealed up he headed to their living room where several voices could be heard. Entering the living room he saw Babs along with M'gann, Artemis, Zatanna, Raquel, Karen, and Cassie all sitting on the couch and various other items in the room talking and laughing.

"Hey Babs" he kissing her gently on the cheek "Ladies" he greeted the other occupants.

"I just wanted to stop in and say hi before heading out" he told Babs who looked at him expectantly. Dick cocked his head to the side questioningly but she said nothing.

"Alright well I should get going, have a good night ladies" he pressed another quick kiss to Babs lips "I love you" he whispered to her before turning and heading back into the nest he quickly changed and left taking to the roofs of Bludhaven.

Within an hour he had stopped three muggings, two murders, two rapes and four robberies, at the moment he was sitting on the ledge of the tallest building in Bludhaven the streets currently quiet.

It was in that moment that he realized his mistake. Today was September 23 and he was an idiot! How could he forget it was Babs' birthday! Looking at his watch Dick realized he had fifteen minutes before it was technically no longer Babs Birthday.

Dick abandoned his perch and raced back to the apartment hoping that Barbara would forgive him for being a morn and forgetting it was her birthday. Skipping the nest Dick went right through their bedroom window and raced into the living room hoping Barbara would still be there.

Instead he found a note on the coffee table picking it up he read the simple message,

Went out with the girls, thanks for remembering~ Babs.

Oh he was in so much trouble.

Dick sat down on the couch with a heavy sign how could he have forgotten? He ran a hand through his hair trying to figure out what to do next. Finally settling on calling Wally, surely the speedster would have some idea as to what he should do to make this better. He did forget Valentines four years in a row!

Dick listened to the phone ring several times before the familiar sound of Wally's voice drifted through his phone.

"Artemis told me you forget Babs birthday you are so screwed" his voice carried with amusement.

"Gee thanks you're so much help" Dick replied sarcastically.

"You know Boy Wonder you could just apologize, make tomorrow special and I'm sure she'll forgive you it was an accident after all." Wally offered.

"That's very true" Dick replied "Thanks Kid Klutz and I better see you in the next few weeks I've missed my favorite speedster"

"Oh I've missed you too Robbie Boy and good luck" Wally answered then hung up.

Running a hand through his hair Dick released a heavy sign, "I've got a lot to do" he mumbled to himself before getting up, changing and once again existing the apartment.

Barbara awoke the next morning to the smell of freshly made pancakes, bacon, and eggs. Opening her eyes lazily she rolled over and saw that on the table next to her side of the bed lay a tray filled with pancakes, bacon, eggs, coffee, a single rose and letter. Despite the grumbling of her hungry stomach her curiosity won and she opened the letter first.

Babs,

I'm sooooooooooooooooooo sorry I forgot your birthday I'm such an idiot. I'm going to make it up to you I promise, so enjoy the breakfast I made you, get dressed, and meet me in the park by your favorite pond….and yes I mean the one I fell into.

A smile lit up Barbara's face at Dick's kindness, but she couldn't let him win her over this easily, after all it was her Birthday he forgot.

She quickly ate the breakfast he had made her enjoying every bite and then got dressed in a pair of skinny jeans, flannel, and converse. She swiftly left the apartment locking the door behind her and heading to the park by their apartment.

There at the pond he had fallen into the previous spring stood Dick a bright grin on his face.

"I'm glad you weren't so mad that you did show, I was a tad worried" he admitted sheepishly as Barbara stood in front of him doing her best to seem more upset than she really was.

"Babs I am really sorry I forgot" he told her pulling her into a tight hug and kissing her forehead.

"Well I'm giving you the chance to make it up Former Boy Wonder so you better use it" she replied her tone a mixture of serious and joking.

"Oh trust me I plan too" he replied releasing her with a grin.

"Soooo" Babs asked with a grin "do I get my present now"

Dick smirked down at her, "not yet we have something to do first"

"Oh and what's that" Babs asked to which Dick turned around revealing both their motorcycles.

"Mind playing a little follow the leader?" Dick questioned a knowing smirk on his face.

"I don't think I have much of a choice" Babs replied smiling at him.

"This is very true" Dick commented as we swung his leg over his motorcycle, Babs imitating the motion on her own bike. And with that they were both off Dick in the lead with Babs following close behind as they weaved through the crowded streets of Bludhaven.

Soon though they left behind the crowded smug filled city and replaced it with quiet beautiful country scenery. Curiosity nipped at Babs as the continued up winding hills and a dirt road, were could he possibly be taking her. At the very top Dick slowed to a stop and Babs followed suit, a beautiful clearing sprawling in front of them.

Dick removed his helmet and smiled at Babs, "Almost there" he said simply. Dismounting his bike and walking forward a few steps as he waited for Babs to follow.

"So you take me out here to murder me and bury the body were no one will ever think to look" Babs teased a wide smirk playing on her face.

"Naw that would be too easy" Dick teased back as he interlaced his hand with hers, "Plus I don't think your father or Bruce would really approve"

"This is very true" Babs replied thoughtfully, Dick laughed shook his head and moved forward taking Babs with him.

They walked for a few minutes more before they reached the very top of the clearing where a picnic was laid out. Displayed was all of Barbara's favorite picnic foods including champagne and some of Alfred's world famous cookies that she oh so loved.

As they stood there Babs' realized that they were overlooking a valley that displayed the beauty that is early fall the leaves below all a beautiful mix of pink, red, orange, and yellow.

"Dick this is amazing" she breathed as he came up behind her hugging her around the waist.

"Barbara I really am sorry I forgot it was your birthday and I hope this makes up for it even just a little bit." He said as he turned her around staring into her eyes with his brilliant blue ones.

"Oh Dick you goof I forgave you the second it happened, you were busy and had a lot going on plus the fact that you went through all of this trouble to make up for it. You are be on forgive. I love you Dick" She said before kissing him.
