Happy Monday guys. Did anyone watch the Super Bowl on Sunday? I didn't, but Dogs did. Did you have a good Groundhog Day?
"You're going to fucking listen to me, right?" Lovino asked as he kept his eyes on the road while driving. "No running off on your own and shit."
"Veh, I know~!" Feliciano chirped, rubbing his palms on the seat as he felt the texture, paying attention to it for the first time rather than appreciating it's appearance. "Lovi, this upholstery is great~! It feels wonderful~!"
"Hmph. Better feel good, dammit. Nonno paid a lot for the damn thing," Lovino answered. "Now hold on, dammit. I'm making a turn."
"Okay~!"
"So why the hell are we going to the damn park again?"
"Because it's fun~!"
"The hell? Are you five or something?"
"If that's how old I have to be to go to the park, then si!" Feliciano giggled.
Lovino scoffed and rolled his eyes. "Dumbass."
"But you still love me~."
"What does that have to do with anything?"
"I have no idea~!"
"Ugh... Once again... Dumbass," Lovino muttered then pulled into a parking spot and turned the car off. "We're here, dammit."
"YAY~~!" Throwing off his seat belt, Feliciano scrambled out of the car, tripping and falling to the pavement. He quickly hopped back up, bouncing with excitement. "Fratello, fratello! Help me find the swings!" he requested, starting forward with his hands stretched out straight ahead of him.
"I WILL if you fucking wait for me!" Lovino snapped as he chased after Feliciano when he finished locking the doors to the car and tucking his keys into his pocket.
Laughing, Feliciano continued forward, being sure to listen for anything, like a small child, that might run in front of him and cause him to fall.
Lovino growled and ran up behind Feliciano and caught him by the back of his shirt. "I said to fucking wait for me!" Then he held on as he led Feliciano to the swings and forced him to sit down. "And you're on a damn swing now."
"Yay! Grazie, fratellone!" Feliciano began to swing, giggling and chattering away like a child.
"Be careful, dumbass," Lovino warned as he sat down in the swing next to Feliciano then looked around.
"Weeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee~~~~~~~~~~~~!"
Lovino rolled his eyes as he glanced back over at his brother. "The hell did I say?! Watch it, dammit!"
Feliciano simply swung higher and higher until his body was almost parallel to the ground as he went swinging back and forth.
"Fucking dumbass…." Lovino grumbled then continued to watch Feliciano. "Doesn't know how to fucking listen…."
Suddenly, Feliciano's sightless eyes shot wide and as he swung forward again, he slammed his feet down, stopping the swing dead. His head swiveled back and forth, listening intently as he slowly inhaled the scent. "They're near..." he murmured.
Lovino scowled as he looked around and smelled the air. "… They're coming from the woods. Come on. We need to get to the damn car now." Then he carefully stood up and help Feliciano up before starting to lead him to the car.
"We aren't going to make it," Feliciano said, feeling the vibrations of the running Hunters through the ground. "We have to fight them off."
"Fine!" Lovino growled. "I'll fucking do it so you stay quiet!" Then he shoved Feliciano into a nearby bush and braced himself for the hunters to come.
Feliciano had to slap his hand over to mouth to keep his cry of protest from being heard as an idea come to him. If he stayed in the open, he would be either captured or killed. If he hid for now, he could provide a valuable surprise attack to aid his twin. This thought in mind, he forced himself to stay still and listen as he slowly took out the phone Ludwig had given him, and speed-dialed Antonio.
Lovino didn't spare any time waiting as he punched the first hunter who came near him then kicked another one in his stomach. "What the hell is your fucking problem?! You're supposed to leave us alone, dammit!" Lovino snapped and growled as his eyes flashed gold. "You heard those vampire bastards, so fuck off right now!"
"Kill him," the leader of the group said simply, ignoring Lovino as though he hadn't spoken at all.
Back at the Vargas' home where Antonio and Ludwig were waiting, Antonio's phone began to play a song Gilbert had set Ludwig's ringtone to. "Disco pogo! Ding-aling-aling! Ding-aling-aling!" Pulling the device from his pocket, he answered. "Hola? Feli? Lovi?"
"Antonio," Feliciano's voice whispered. "We're being attacked. Lovi hid me in the bushes. H-He's fighting by himself. There are t-to many for him to win alone. H-Help."
Instantly, Antonio was up and going for the door. "We're coming, Feli. Stay hidden, don't get caught. We'll be there soon." Then the line went dead as Feliciano hung up to avoid detection.
"What happened?" Ludwig asked.
"They're being attacked at the park."
"WHAT?!" Ludwig exclaimed then rushed off out of the house.
Back in the park, Lovino continued fighting and trying to knock out the men attacking him, slowly drawing the group away from Feliciano's hiding spot. "Fuck you, bastards! Let us go! We haven't done anything to you!"
Still the Hunters refused to speak, acting as though Lovino wasn't addressing them.
Hearing the group moving away, Feliciano began to get nervous. If they got to far, then he wouldn't be able to help effectively. He would be spotted long before he got close enough to make a surprise attack.
However, before he could think on this any longer, a hand was thrust into the brushes and his hair was grabbed, yanking him from his hiding spot with a harsh tug then sent him sprawling in the dirt with a pained yelp.
"I found the other dog!" the man who had captured him yelled, planting his foot on Feliciano's back and pressing down on his to pin on the ground. Feliciano yelped again, the air crushed from his lungs. "I can take care of him now." There was a click as the man cocked his rifle, freezing Feliciano in place as the fire arm was set against his soft skull. "In less than one second I can get rid of this disgusting creature."
"GET THE FUCK OFF HIM!" Lovino snarled as he rushed forward and slammed his fist into the man's face and beat him into unconsciousness then turned to the next man until he was yanked away from Feliciano while the man blew a dog whistle loudly, right into his ear, causing him to scream out in pain then stumble back.
Feliciano covered his ears and winced at the nose, slowly getting to his feet. "L-Leave fratellone alone!" he cried, running forward to the noise. He grabbed the man who had blown the whistle and landed a solid punch in the man's stomach. As he doubled over, Feliciano's foot connected with the side of his head, sending the man flying to the side, out cold.
The younger twin stood in front of his brother in a defensive stance, listening closely for any sounds of an attacker approaching. He felt as his nails sharpened into claws and his teeth became fangs as he let out a low growl, ready to protect his downed alpha from any threat.
Lovino stumbled more as he fell to his knees then looked around wildly while trying to wipe away some of the blood that was coming out of his ears.
Then, a few moments later, Ludwig burst into the clearing and slammed the closet man into the ground.
Antonio was there seconds later, taking out three more men near his precious Lovino.
Catching the scents of the vampires, Feliciano jumped forward, sinking his teeth into the shoulder of the Hunter before him and ripping off a chunk of flesh. The man screamed and fought to get Feliciano off him, hitting at him with the end of his gun.
Ludwig rushed over and yanked then gun away from the man then punched him into unconsciousness.
At the same time, Lovino staggered to his feet and went to run over and help until one of the hunters came up behind him and got him into a choke hold.
Feliciano heard his brother's struggles for air and he ran to his twin's side, slashing his claws across the hunter's face, giving him deep gashes and forcing him to let go. He growled, pulling Lovino close to him.
Antonio appeared seconds later, taking care of the man.
In a matter of seconds, all of the hunters had been either knocked out or had run off, leaving the group standing there, panting for breath while Lovino was feeling his ears and trembling when he couldn't hear anything through them.
"F-Fratello!" Feliciano whimpered, feeling around until he found his twin and hugged him tightly.
"Lovi, querido, are you alright!?" Antonio cried, almost hugging him.
Lovino jumped in surprise at the sudden contact and looking between Antonio and Feliciano with wide frightened eyes that were now starting to turn gold due to Lovino's distress. "W-What the hell are you saying?! I-I can't hear you!" He stuttered in a bit too loud voice.
Feliciano winced and moved back, his ear having been right next to Lovino's mouth. "F-Fratello...?" he stuttered.
Antonio's eyes widened. "L-Lovino... Can you... Are you... deaf...?"
Lovino trembled and squeezed his eyes shut, not hearing either one of them at all.
Watching them, Ludwig frowned then said. "We… We have to figure this out later. We should get out of here right now while we still can."
Antonio nodded. "Take Feli, I have Lovi," he said, gently prying Feliciano off his brother and passing him into Ludwig's arms. "Go on ahead. We'll be right behind you."
Feliciano clung to his German, scared. "L-Luddy, what happened to fratello?" he asked, his voice shaking slightly.
Ludwig held Feliciano close as he started heading back to the car. "I'm not sure… Did you hear anything out of the ordinary…?"
"I-I heard a dog whistle. I-It was really loud, right next to fratello," Feliciano informed him.
"I see…. We better call Yao and have him check over your brother when we get back to your house."
Feeling the loss of contact with his brother, Lovino snapped his eyes open and growled while baring his teeth until he noticed that it was Antonio who had done that. "A-Antonio….?"
Speaking slowly and being sure to form the words carefully just in case Lovino could read his lips, he said," "Lovino, can you hear me at all?"
Lovino stared at him. After Antonio was, he finished shook his head no.
Antonio bit his lip. Not knowing what else to do, he pointed to the car, then held his hands up over his head to form a roof, asking Lovino if the Italian wanted to go home.
Lovino nodded and pulled out his keys and headed to his car and unlocked it then slipped into the driver's seat and started up the car.
The vampire frowned and went over. He opened the driver side door, picked Lovino up, and placed him into the passenger side seat as he sat in the driver's spot. "No way are you driving, Lovino," he mouthed and gestured as best he could. "You can't hear. It's to dangerous."
Lovino glared at him and crossed his arms. "MY damn car! So I fucking drive! Got that bastard?!"
"No, Lovino. If I have to, I will just leave your car here for Romulus to pick up and carry you back myself," Antonio said firmly, for once not giving in to his boyfriend's demands.
Lovino growled and started trying to climb over into the driver's seat from the passenger side.
Antonio easily kept him back by setting his hand against the other's chest. He didn't even need to push. "No, Lovino."
"Fucking move. NOW," Lovino snapped and swatted Antonio's hand away.
"Antonio?" Ludwig sighed. "Can you move him to the back with Feliciano? I'll ride up front with you to keep him from trying to get in the driver's seat."
"Okay." Antonio pulled Lovino from his seat across the control panel thing with all the buttons and the clutch and got out, holding him. He opened the back door and set him onto the seat, buckling him in. The buckle's click alerted Feliciano to his presence and the younger twin quickly latched onto him.
"W-What the hell?!" Lovino sputtered as he tried to squirm free while Ludwig moved into the front seat and buckled up. "What the hell are you doing?!"
"We should get out of here now, Antonio," Ludwig said as he locked the doors using the buttons on his side of the car. "Before they come back."
"Si." Antonio checked the mirror to make sure the twins were safe before pulling out of the lot and driving back towards the boys' home.
As soon as they pulled into the driveway and stopped, Lovino was the first one out, and, after leading Feliciano back into the house and over to the couch, headed upstairs to his room and curled up on his bed.
Being sure to follow much more carefully this time around, Feliciano stood up and followed, going to his twin's door and knocking. "Fratello?" he called. "Fratello can I come in? Are you okay? Fratello?"
Being unable to hear Feliciano, Lovino only shifted around and curled up again.
Opening the door, Feliciano stumbled in. "Fratello?" he asked again. "Aren't you in here? Hello?"
Once again, Lovino didn't answer back, only lay there on the bed facing the wall while rubbing his forehead with his hand, mumbling a soft, or what he thought was a soft, "Dammit".
Ears pricking, Feliciano rushed to the bed, wrapping his arms around his twin. "Lovi!"
Lovino immediately jerked back with a startled yelp of surprise as his back hit the wall. Then, a second later, he realized who did it. "F-Feliciano?! W-What the fuck was that?! Give some fucking warning next time will you?!"
Pulling Lovino back towards him, Feliciano hugged him once more. "I-I did! I was calling for you!" he sniffed. "W-Why didn't you answer me? Are you ignoring me? Are you angry with me? Please don't be angry at me, fratello!"
Lovino carefully watched Feliciano's lips. When his twin was done, he groaned. "Feliciano…. I can't fucking HEAR you right now! So how the hell can I answer you?! And no. I can't hear you right now. At all. I was reading your damn lips."
Feliciano stared towards Lovino's face. After a short second of silence, he burst into tears.
"! F-Feliciano?! W-Why the hell are you crying?!"
"This is all my fault!" he wailed. "If I hadn't wanted to go to the the park, you could still hear and we wouldn't have been attaaaaaaaaaaaacked!"
"I-It's fine, dammit! D-Don't cry!"
Downstairs, the vampires entered the house, Feliciano's sobs echoing loudly throughout the Vargas mansion.
Antonio frowned. "This problem is getting out of hand," he said, turning to Ludwig. "Lovi can't hear, Feli can't see, and I have no clue where Romulus disappeared to. Do you know where he went? I know he showed up to the school, but I didn't see him leave."
"I didn't either….." Ludwig replied with a frown. "Do you know of if he has a cellphone number we can call? And we should probably get Yao over here as well to check Lovino."
"I have no idea," Antonio sighed. "Here, you call." He handed his phone to the German boy then started towards the stairs. "I'm going to check on Lovi."
Ludwig nodded and dialed the number.
"Yes, Ludwig?" the voice on the other end of the line picked up after only one ring.
"Can you come to Feliciano's and Lovino's house? We… er… need you to check Lovino... He's lost his hearing."
"His hearing? Aiyah... It's just one thing after another for you boys," Yao sighed. "Yes, I'll be there soon." There was a click and the line went dead.
Ludwig sighed as he put the phone away then went to go wait for Yao to arrive.
Meanwhile, back upstairs, Lovino was still trying to calm Feliciano down. "J-Just stop crying, dammit... You know that does help!"
Feliciano refused to stop, blaming himself entirely for the event. Thus the scene Antonio walked in on was Feliciano collapsed across Lovi's lap, arms around his brother's waist as he sobbed and blubbered while Lovino frantically tried to sooth and calm him by talking and gently petting the younger's hair.
"Calm down, dammit…. Just calm down…"
Antonio waved his arms around in the air, trying to gain Lovino's attention from the doorway rather than just sneaking up on him.
Catching the movement out of the corner of his eye, Lovino glanced over and frowned. "What the hell are you doing bastard?"
Antonio smiled. "I didn't want to startle you," he said, going over to the brothers.
Feliciano's loud cries had quieted to soft whimpers and sniffs, though he continued to cling tightly to his twin.
Lovino nodded and looked down at Feliciano. "Don't know what to do…"
Making sure Lovino was again looking at him, Antonio said, "Ludwig called Yao. He'll be here soon to check on you."
"Ugh…. Isn't that fucking great….."
Noticing that he couldn't hear anymore sound coming from Feliciano, Antonio looked down at him. "Feli fell asleep it seems."
"Huh? He did?" Lovino asked then glanced down at Feliciano.
Indeed, Feliciano was out like a light, arms still wrapped loosely around his twin, face coated in tear tracks.
"…. Never going to get that dumbass…. How the hell can he fall asleep just like that….?"
"I guess it's a special talent," Antonio said, smiling a little.
"…. Weird," Lovino mumbled then started trying to move himself out of Feliciano's grasp.
With Antonio's help, the two managed to detangle the twins from each other, Feliciano remaining asleep the entire time. "Yao will probably be here soon. Do you want to go down stairs to wait for him?" Antonio asked.
Lovino shrugged in reply as he stood up. "Don't care."
Before Antonio could say anything, the door bell rang. "Yao is here," Antonio said. "He's at the front door."
Lovino nodded and headed to the front door then opened it and glared at the nature spirit.
"Hello, Lovino," Yao greeted. "I'm here to check on your ears."
Lovino watched Yao's lips move then nodded.
The Chinese man led Lovino into the living room and had him sit on the couch. He gently held the eldest wolf's head in his hand and turned it back and forth. He leaned forward and whispered something in soft Chinese into his ear.
"You done turning my damn head yet, you bastard? It feels weird as hell," Lovino asked, not noticing nor hearing Yao whisper to him.
Yao frowned, then went to Lovino's other side and repeated the same process.
"Okay… seriously! What the hell are you doing, you bastard?!" Lovino yelped and jerked away when he felt the breath on his ear.
"Hmm... I'll have to think of something else... By the way, how are Feliciano's eyes?" Yao asked.
Lovino watched Yao's lips then frowned. "…. Still can't fucking see. He's asleep right now."
"Can you wake him up? I need to check his retinas. I might have thought of something that could help," Yao said.
Lovino nodded and motioned for Yao to follow him as he headed upstairs.
Feliciano was still curled up asleep on Lovino's bed, one of Lovino's pillows held in a death grip in his arms.
Lovino inched over to him and started shaking his shoulder. "Wake up, dammit!"
At the touch, Feliciano was instantly awake, shooting straight up and nearly cracking his and Lovino's heads together. "Veh!"
Lovino yelped in surprise as he jerked his head back. "WHAT THE FUCK, FELICIANO?! You almost fucking hit me with your damn head!"
"W-What?" Feliciano reached out and felt around until he located his brother. "O-Oh. Mi dispiace. You scared me," he apologized.
Lovino sighed and patted Feliciano's hand. "The Chinese bastard is here to check on you."
Feliciano nodded. With permission granted, Yao approached the younger twin and checked his eyes. After a few moments, he frowned, checking them again. He turned to Lovino. "Lovino, come here. I need to check your ears again," he said.
Lovino crossed his arms with a glare on his face and stayed where he was.
Yao frowned. "Do you want your hearing back or not?"
Lovino growled and huffed then inched over to Yao.
Yao pulled Lovino to him and looked into his ear again. He tilted Lovino's head so the light would shine into his ear. He then turned and, once more, checked Feliciano's eyes. He nodded to himself, muttering in Chinese.
Lovino frowned in confusion as he watched. "What the hell….?"
"I've discovered the problem with you two," Yao announced.
"Really? Can you fix it?" Feliciano asked hopefully.
Yao nodded. "Indeed I can."
"How…..?" Lovino nervously asked.
"Lovino, we need to clear out your ears. You can't hear anything because when your ear drums burst, your healed so quickly the blood didn't have time to flow out and so your ear canals are filled with dried blood. Get that out, and you'll be fine. Feliciano, you have a kind of thin white film formed over your eyes. If you touch it, it's wet and sticky. We can remove it, but you need to be able to stay very, very still," the nature spirit informed them.
"… you sure about this bastard….?"
"Positive."
"Fine… Which damn thing is easier to do….?"
"Your ears," Yao said. "I can fix that now. Go into the bathroom and kneel next to the bathtub with your head over the tub with your head slightly tilted. Feliciano, you wait here a minute. I'm going to get something."
Lovino scowled and went into the bathroom and knelt down in front of the tub just like Yao said. "Like this, bastard?"
"Perfect. I'll be right back." And with that, Yao rushed from the house, going to get some supplies.
