There is some parts from Stages of Grief by Foxy'sGirl. She gave me full permission to have. Some are details are changed. You could say it's a 'twisted' branch from her story. Modern AU. Author's Notes

I know it has been a long time since I updated last. School just got in the way, and I just got back from vacation. I got a review on this story and it made me want to come back to this story. I have been listening to songs that I want to put in here to increase the emotions to the couple. I now have it down and plan on focusing on adding some more chapters to this story.

I don't own; HTTYD or Right in by Skrillex or Goodbye my lover by James Blunt (I know it's weird song, but it fits in this part)

Chapter 4: Last Moments

Astrid's POV

Just sitting in the waiting room to see what is wrong with Hiccup, is making me break down. I began to think what it could be and how I could of stopped it. OH GOD. I was becoming soft now, how could these happen to me. Why me? Why now? Why couldn't these happen after Worlds? As I was going on and on with questions, the doctor walked over to us.

"I have some bad news," the doc said, while looking at the ground. Could Hiccup be dead? What would I do? I just couldn't handle that.

"What is it Doctor?" Stoick asked, as I was coming back to reality.

"I'm sorry to say your son is..." Before he could finish a nurse came out and yelled for him. "I will be right back," he said before running off.

This got me thinking about what he said. Was Hiccup dead or alive? Before I knew what was happening, I felt a big hand land on my shoulder. "Astrid it's alright," Stoick said to me.

I now notice I was crying, "H-h-how co-co-could you think it is alright." I said while sobbing.

"I just know. I just know." He said to comfort me. Which worked out perfectly.

A couple of minutes later, the doctor came back out. "Sorry for that. But on to the news, we thought we've lost him... But there is a little sign of life in him..."

"Oh thank god," I blurted out, before he finished.

"But it is slowly decreasing as we speak..." Oh god, he was really dieing I thought to myself. "We have put him on life support, but I think this is the last you will get to talk to him." The doctor finished and said we could see him now.

As Stoick and I walked over to Hiccup's room, Stoick told me to stay out for he can talk to him alone. I agreed to this. While waiting, I decided to listen to some music. I played the first song on my phone (Right In by Skrillex) and sung along in my head.

Finally Stoick was done with Hiccup and I walked in. While forgetting to turn off my music.

Just walking in to see Hiccup's face, made me break down again. "How could you do this to Hiccup?" Knowing he wouldn't answer. I grabbed his hand and begged, " Please Hiccup, please don't leave me."

Then I heard my phone start to play a song (Goodbye My Lover By James Blunt). It was the song my Dad played when my mom was dieing. I got an idea, if I sing to Hiccup will he come back to me? It was worth a try, so I began singing the song to him.

There were only some parts I wanted to sing. "Did I disappoint you, Or let you down?... Should I be felling guilty,... or let the judges frown?.. The I saw the end, Before we'd begun,... Yes I saw you were happy, and I knew we had won."

"It may be over, But it won't stop there, I am here for you." These was the part that made me cry, "I've kissed your lips and held your head. Shared your dreams and shared your bed."

"I know you well, I know your smell. I've been addicted to you."

These got me to my knees crying, "Goodbye my lover. Goodbye my friend. You have been the one,... you have been the one for me." With that said, I let it play out while hold his hand.

When the song ended, I got up from the ground. And let go of his hand, watching it fall limp. I then leaned over and kissed him on the lips for a good five seconds. And said, "Goodbye Hiccup."

When I left the Hospital, my eyes were red from crying. Stoick wanted to stay there, so I called Ruffnut to pick me up.

"Hey there cry baby," Ruff said, but not knowing what happen to Hiccup.

"Shut up," I said in a weepy angry voice.

"Jeez, what's up with you? How's Hiccup doing?" She said not allowing me to answer the first question.

"Nothing is happening to him." I couldn't say his name without crying.

"What do you mean by 'nothing'?" She asked.

"He is..." I can't say it.

"Spit it out Astrid."

"He is dieing." I said before I had another break down.

"I'm... sorry." Ruff said. After that the ride was quiet.

Two days before Worlds

Gobber didn't let me see Hiccup, because he thought it was going to make me do bad at Worlds. And he thought if we go to Australia early, I can get better at breathing.

So that is why were at the airport waiting to leave. I text Hiccup's dad to see if anything has happened. And of course he takes forever to answer.

When Gobber and I got our seats in first class, I checked my phone again and still no answer.

Then that famous words, "Put your phone in airplane mode" were said. Suddenly I heard my phone ring.

I pulled it out and read the text from Stoick, "Going to pull the plug".

I know this is a mean ending, but it still makes you read on. I'm trying to update more often now. I plan on adding two more chapters with this one. I know this is short, but I wrote these pretty quick. May update tomorrow.
