Chapter 22: Reunion Pt 1
Normal POV; June 28, 2014
"Wake up Sleepyheads!" exclaimed Monica as she ran into her sister's room with a skillet and a wooden spoon in hand. She then began to bang the two together to wake the slumbering vampire couple up, and unlike the sleeping couple, she was dressed and ready to embrace the day. "It's time to wake up you two! We have a big day ahead of ourselves!"
"What the hell are you doing sis? And why the hell do you have to make so much noise," moaned Amanda as she folded her pillow over her head. Randy continued to sleep like he never heard a thing, however, the small movement of the corner of his mouth almost indicated that he was about to smirk. "We're trying to sleep right now and I don't need you ruining that! Let us sleep in peace!"
"But sis . . . we had plans for this morning remember?" asked Monica as she walked over to her sister's side of the bed. "We planned to meet with our old high school volleyball teammates for breakfast this morning and we can't be late. This was planned weeks ahead of time you know!"
"I know that . . ." Amanda moaned into her pillow as she let one eye crack open. "But I still want to sleep. Just give me five more minutes okay?"
"Nope . . . you need to get ready NOW!" said Monica as she continued to bang the skillet and spoon together. "Now wake up or else I'll annoy the hell out of you with my trust skillet and spoon!"
"Monica . . . stop," mumbled Randy as he slowly cracked his eyes open to look at the younger twin. "Let Amanda sleep for another couple of minutes. I promise I'll wake her up and make her get ready for your trip to breakfast with your old teammates okay?"
"Fine, but you better have her ready to go or else I'll drag her ass out of here, even if she's still in her PJs." said Monica as she stomped out the room. Randy watched with a smirk on his face as the twin left the room before turning to his mate, who was already well asleep.
"Amanda . . . 'Manda baby . . ." Randy whispered to her as he began to lightly tap her on her ass to get her up. "You need to wake up . . . you can't be late today babe. Your old teammates will be disappointed if you are a no-show."
"We got in late Randy . . . like, 3:00 in the morning late," she said with a groan as she opened both her eyes. "I didn't get my usual hours of sleep. . . Just give me five more minutes okay?"
"Nope, I can't do that . . ." said Randy as he slid his hand along her back. "Once you fall asleep, it's hard to wake you up again, and I don't want Monica breathing down my neck because I couldn't get you to wake up so you could get ready and get to breakfast with your old volleyball teammates on time."
"Well . . . if you put it that way, fine . . ." mumbled the Anaconda in a pissed tone of voice as she slowly sat up. "I'm going, I'm going."
"Hey!" said Randy as he quickly grabbed his mate's wrist in order to stop her from going any further. "I know you're mad because you didn't get to sleep in, but don't I get a good morning kiss?"
"You will . . ." said Amanda as she removed her wrist from Randy's grasp. ". . . But not until after I get ready for the day."
"Fine . . ." said Randy with a small shrug as Amanda began perusing through her drawer. She grabbed a bra and a pair of panties before walking over to her closet, grabbing a purple maxi-dress from it before quickly making her way to the bathroom. Once she closed the door behind her, Randy got out of bed himself and quickly changed into a t-shirt and a pair of sweatpants before walking out the room. He walked into the kitchen to see Monica already using the coffee machine, a steaming pot of Joe just freshly made. ". . . Can I have some? Or are you going to have that all to yourself?"
"I'm not that greedy. Sure you can have some . . . there's plenty to go around to, tell you the truth," said Monica as she shrugged her shoulders. "So . . . You and 'Manda are going to drive from here all the way to Hartford for Raw on Monday right?"
"Well . . . not exactly," said Randy as he poured himself a cup of coffee. "We're driving, but we're not going to use my Hummer anymore. We're going by tour bus this time around."
"Tour bus?" asked Monica as she raised an eyebrow. "Neither of you guys currently have a tour bus."
"Well . . . not anymore we don't," said Randy as he took a sip of his coffee. "I asked my dad to look into potential tour bus drivers for 'Manda and I. He said he found a guy that may be a good fit for us, so I'm going to meet with him at my parents' house while you two are out to breakfast."
"I see . . . but why the change?" asked Monica as she took a seat at the island in the middle of the room.
"The fetus growing in Amanda's womb is the main reason why we're switching back to driving by tour bus," said Randy as he let out a small breath. "It'll be much more comfortable for her as we travel. Plus, when the baby is born, I won't have to be missing from the tyke's life as he or she grows up because of my job . . . I won't miss that many milestones in the child's life, you know?"
"I get it. I understand . . . Getting the tour bus is definitely a good call," said Monica as she walked into the living room. "Plus . . . you get to save money on hotels again. There's that!"
"You got that right . . . Although, we may use a hotel here and there, once in a while," said Randy as he followed after the younger twin. "And you know what . . . it'll be nice to have a bus to ourselves again. It's a lot more private than a bustling hotel."
"That is true too . . ." said Monica as a smirk came across her face. "So . . . are you excited about our high school reunion tonight?"
"Of course I am . . ." said Randy as a small smirk as he took another sip of his coffee. "It's the main reason that I'm not doing public appearances for the WWE this weekend."
"Oh . . . you're using our reunion as a reason to get out of work. . . Is that it?" asked Monica as she raised an eyebrow.
"It's that . . . and the fact it'll be nice to reconnect with our old classmates after not speaking to each other since senior year." Randy further added as he watched the younger twin turn on the TV and switched the channel to one that was currently showing the news.
"Now that's a better answer . . ." said Monica as she let out a small whistle. She then turned to the hallway as soon as she heard the sounds of heels tapping on the ground, smirking when she saw that Amanda was finally ready to go, dressed in her purple maxi-dress and a pair of wedge heels that were sensible enough for her to wear. "Oh . . . you're ready to go now huh?"
"I figured I use my vampire speed in order to go quickly so that you won't have to drag me out of here," said Amanda as she walked into the kitchen, stepping back out when she had a granola bar in hand. "Now let's go . . . we said we would be at the restaurant be 8:30 remember?"
"Yeah I do . . ." said Monica as she quickly finished the rest of her coffee. "And by the way, we're taking your Camaro."
"Fine by me . . ." said Amanda as she grabbed her car keys from the kitchen drawer that held all there keys. She walked over to Randy and gave him a slow kiss to the lips before addressing him. "We'll be back later okay?"
"Sure thing . . ." said Randy with a smirk as he pecked his mate's lips again before she could react. "You guys have fun!"
"We will!" called Monica as she and Amanda walked over to the elevator. Once the elevator doors were closed behind the two, Randy finished his coffee, walked back to his bedroom, and grabbed his cell phone to call up his father. His dad answered him after the third ring.
"Hey Dad!" exclaimed Randy as he spoke into the receiver. "I didn't wake you up now did I?"
"Nope . . ." said Bob as he let out a small chuckle. "I was already awake when you called son. The bus driver that I told you about woke me up before you did. He's here right now ready to speak with you about the job."
"Good . . ." said Randy as he put on an old pair of sneakers. "I'll be over there soon. . . Mom hasn't made breakfast for you guys already has she?"
"She's starting on it right now, and yes it involves bacon," answered Bob as he let out another chuckle. "I'll tell her to have a plate ready for you when you get here."
"Thanks Dad . . . I'll see you soon." said Randy as he finished the call. He put his phone in his pocket and walked out the room, grabbing the keys to his Range Rover from the kitchen drawer before taking the stairs down to the garage. He turned on the garage door lift before getting into his vehicle. Once he turned on the ignition and drove out the building, he waited till the lift was finally down before driving out; his parents' house his intended destination.
Randy's POV; Almost an hour later
"Ah . . . there's the house, and I can smell the bacon from here." I say with a smirk as I pulled up into Mom and Dad's driveway. After cutting the ignition and unbuckling my seatbelt, I get out of the car and walk up the walkway to the porch. Once I noticed Alanna looking at me through the window in the door, I knew I didn't need to bother knocking.
"How long have you been waiting at the front door like this Alanna?" I ask with a chuckle as my little girl lets me in. The smell of a familiar scent within the house that wasn't Alanna's, Mom's, or Dad's certainly gets my attention, but I can't currently put a finger on it.
"For a while . . ." she tells me cheekily as she decides to latch herself onto one of my legs again.
"Is your Mom or Josh here?" I ask with a smirk as I close the door behind us.
"Nope . . . they went to work," she tells me as she lets me go. "My usual babysitter is out of town, so grandma and grandpa are babysitting me for the time being."
"How long ago did they leave?" I ask with a smirk as I picked her up in my arms.
"Only about an hour before you got here . . ." she tells me with a grin as she faces forward. "There's a visitor here who wants to meet with you. . . He's here for that job to be your new bus driver."
"Yeah . . . that's why I'm here in the first place sweetheart," I say with a smirk as I start walking toward the kitchen, the smell of Mom's good ole home cooking leading me forward. "So . . . School has been out for the summer starting yesterday. Have you been good while I've been away?"
"Yes I have . . ." Alanna tells me confidently as she places her hands on her hips, as if she was sassing me. "I've been good, which means you have to take me with you on the road for the summer."
"Hmm . . . we'll see about that once I have a talk with your mother. If all things go well, you can leave out with 'Manda and I tomorrow, if you can get your bags packed quick enough that is." I say with a nod of my head as I stop just before the kitchen.
"YES!" she exclaims with a grin as she practically jumps out of my hands. ". . . And just in time for my birthday too."
"Oh yeah . . ." I say with a chuckle as I brought a hand to my forehead. "Your birthday is on the 12th of next month."
"That's right! I'm going to turn eight that day!" she tells me with a grin as she points to me.
"But Alanna . . . you're not seven years old. You're six," I tell her with a shake of my head as I crouched down to her level.
"I'm six? I thought I was seven years old already!" she tells me in shock as she gives me a wide eyed look. "Are you sure?"
"I am . . . The only reason you thought you were seven already was because your Uncle Nate bought birthday decorations that had the number seven on it instead of the number six for your birthday last year." I tell her as I let out a deep breath.
"But why didn't you tell me I wasn't seven?" she asks me with an eyebrow raised as she crosses her arms. "You had me believing that for a whole year!"
"I know . . . I wanted to tell you, but your mother thought it would be a better idea for you to figure it out on your own," I tell her with a small shrug. "She thought it would be a good way for you to learn how to tell if a person was lying or not. You know, like it was another step of your vampire training?"
"Wow . . . I failed big time didn't I?" she asks me sheepishly as she started to squirm in place.
"Nah . . . you were just slow to learn that's all. Besides, I revealed the secret to you before you could figure it out, so no. You didn't actually fail the training," I tell her with a smirk. "Hey . . . if it makes you feel any better, I'll buy you any gift you want for your birthday."
"Really?" she asks me hopefully with those big blue eyes of hers. When it came to eyes, she definitely inherited that trait from me hands down. "Do you really mean that?"
"Of course I do . . ." I say with a smirk as I placed a hand on her shoulder. "It's your birthday after all, so you are definitely getting spoiled that day."
"Don't spoil her too much mister."
I let a small smirk come across my face as I watch as my mom steps out from the kitchen, a small smile dotting her face as she leaned against the doorframe.
"If you spoil her too much, she may get a big head . . ." my mom says with a chuckle as she shakes her head.
"I wouldn't . . . probably." she tells us with a shrug as she runs toward the living room, leaving me and her grandmother to talk amongst ourselves.
"Breakfast is ready, so come on in," she tells me with a smirk as she walks into the kitchen. "Where's 'Manda by the way?"
"She and Monica went out to have breakfast with their old high school volleyball teammates." I answer her simply as I follow her into the bacon scented room. "They'll be gone for a few hours."
"I see . . . your breakfast is waiting for you on the table under the plastic cover. If you're wondering where your father is, he's out eating out in the backyard with the bus driver he was telling you about." she tells me with a smirk as she looks me in the eye.
"Thanks Mom . . ." I say as I kiss her on the cheek. I grab a fork and my plate before heading out the door. I instantly see my dad sitting at the backyard table talking with a very familiar face, giving off a scent I should have recognized easily from the first whiff I had of it.
"HAL?" I exclaim as I walk over to the table. The two men stop their conversation to look at me, both smirking at what was probably the shock that was showing on my face. "You're the bus driver Dad was telling me about?"
"Hell yes I am!" he tells me with a smirk as he crosses his arms. "And how dare you and 'Manda not call to tell me that you two were expecting a baby together. Better yet! How dare you two not call to tell me that Amanda was now a vampire and that Monica was turned into a werewolf? How could you leave me out of the loop for so long man? I thought we were practically family!"
"Considering we haven't seen you for like . . . a year; and you always had your cell phone off at every possible moment because you hate receiving phone calls, I think the answer is a no brainer, to tell you the truth," I say with a smirk as I sat down across from the two older men. "And by the way, why are you back here trying out to be 'Manda and I's bus driver. I thought you retired from that job when you dropped us off here the last time we saw you."
"I did . . ." says Hal as he bit into his pancake. ". . . But then I got bored driving around the country all by my lonesome self, and then I started missing my old job, driving you two from city to city so that you guys could get to your jobs on time. . . I kinda missed having 'Manda and you riding in my bus and giving me hell night and day. I missed you guys, well, I don't miss the moments when you guys breathe down my neck when it comes to my love for Red Bull, but I did miss the two of you. Honest!"
"That's . . . that's very nice to know Hal," I say as I tried to think of a better response to his explanation. "It was . . . enlightening, and it's nice to know that you still have that Red Bull addiction."
"It's not an addiction . . . . It's a love," Hal counters as he narrowed his eyes at me. "They are two entirely different concepts."
"Uh huh . . ." I mumble as I took a bite out of my bacon, not really believing his last sentence.
"Ah . . . it's just like old times," Dad says with a grin as he pokes at his pancakes. "So Randy, are you going to take back Hal as your bus driver or not? He's actually desperate for a job you know."
"NO I AM NOT!" exclaims Hal as he turns to the retired wrestler. "Now you're making stuff up Bob!"
"Says the guy that lost half of his life savings playing poker in Vegas," Dad says with a smirk as he brought a piece of pancake to his mouth. "Seriously man, without 'Manda helping you out in your matches, you're absolutely worthless in a game of poker."
"Oh . . . so that's why you're interested in the job," I say with a knowing smirk on my face. "You've come back to us because you want to replenish your bank account. Is that it?"
"Aw . . . why do you have to put it like that?" says Hal as he winces at my statement. "Can't I just say I came back because I missed you guys and we just leave it at that?"
"You can, but all three of us would know the actual truth," I say with a chuckle as I shake my head. "However . . . . It's nice to see you come back to your old life, and to know that you do depend on us . . . Welcome back Hal. You got the job."
"Yes!" says Hal as he pumps his fist into the air. "Thank you for taking me back . . . Uh, does 'Manda know about this yet?"
"She knows about me meeting a potential tour bus driver, but I never told her who I would be specifically meeting. So she still has no clue that you'll be driving for us again," I tell him as I swallowed my food. "And speaking of driving, where's your bus now?"
"Oh that?"" asks Hal as he raised an eyebrow. "I traded that bad boy in. I got us a new bus, one that should be suitable enough for the pregnant Anaconda as we travel around the country. That Hummer you've been using for the past few months most likely won't be good for her once she's eight months' along you know."
"That's good to know . . ." I say as I shake my head. "I hope the bus also has room for Alanna. It's becoming more and more likely that she'll be coming with us for the summer."
"Don't worry . . . the bus has enough room for her as well," says Hal as he finished his plate of food and got up from his seat. "Now that I'm finished eating this delicious meal, I'm going to go raid your fridge for Red Bull."
"We don't have any Red Bull!" says Dad as he called after the man. "Don't even try it Hal!"
"Then I'll just head off to the nearest supermarket to buy me some then!" he calls over his shoulder as he walks into the house.
"Eh . . . it's good to have him back huh son?" Dad asks me with a chuckle as he shakes his head. "That man never gets old!"
"You're right Dad . . ." I say with a smirk as bite into my pancakes. "It's good to have Hal back."
Normal POV; Late afternoon
"Randy? Are you done in there yet?" asked Amanda as she knocked on the bathroom door, a look of agitation spreading all across her face as she continued to bang her fist against the wooden surface. "We have to leave any minute now and you're holding us up . . . Please don't tell me you're going through some internal battle with yourself because you can't decide on whether to shave your beard or not."
"HEY!" called the Viper as his footsteps could be heard coming close to the door. He opened it enough to create a wedge that his head could fit through, a small scowl dotting his face as he stared at his soul-mate. "I wasn't struggling with that . . . again. I was just thinking about something, that's all."
"Thinking about what?" asked Amanda as she forced the door wide open. "What have you been thinking about all this time while locked up in here?"
"I was just thinking about how much I've changed since our senior year . . . that's all," the Viper answered reluctantly as he walked over to the sink. "You know . . . It's been 16 years since our graduating class was all gathered in one place. . . I wonder how much everyone has changed over that time."
"Well we already know about what happened with one person, whose name will not be mentioned," said 'Manda as she stood right at her beau's side, her memories going back to Sheldon for just a second. "But it'll be nice to see how everyone else turned out. And as for you, when it comes to you changing these past 16 years, to be honest, I don't see much difference between you now and you from 16 years ago."
"Oh really?" asked Randy as a smug smirk came across his face. "You're only saying that because you've been with me these past 16 years."
"Well . . . there's that," said Amanda with a small shrug as she crossed her arms. "But I'm telling the truth when I say this, you are still as abrasive, short-tempered, and cocky as you were when you were still 18 years old and struggling with math in high school."
"Oh . . . so that's what you think of me?" asked Randy as he let out a small chuckle, one that was more sarcastic than disdainful. "Well if you ask me . . . you're still the sarcastic know it all that could never stay away from a track meet or a volleyball practice for long."
"Yes . . . I was that dedicated . . . and really? A know it all?" asked Amanda as she raised an eyebrow. "I wouldn't go that far to say that . . . I believe I was just more . . . 'enlightened' than you were back then."
"Uh huh . . . but you have changed since then 'Manda." said Randy with a smirk as he pulled her into his arms.
"I have?" asked 'Manda as she looked up at him curiously. "How have I changed exactly mister?"
"Well . . . back then, you were a sarcastic know it all, and you still are," said Randy, chuckling when Amanda instantly scowled at his statement. "But now, you are a beautiful, compassionate, and strong WWE Diva that has stuck by me all throughout my life, from childhood to soon enough, parenthood."
"Aw . . . that's so romantic and sweet of you to say, especially since you struggle with voicing emotions that aren't angry or frustrated, and especially in the bathroom out of all places," said Amanda as she pecked his lips. Randy eventually chuckled at the last part. "And I got to admit, you're still a little abrasive and short tempered. But you are a little less cocky than you were in the past, as well as the fact that you're a lot more mature now."
"A lot more mature? Is that all you have to say to me?" Randy asked sarcastically as he raised an eyebrow. "C'mon babe, you can try a lot better than that."
"Well . . . you are a lot more mature now than you were in the past," said Amanda as she nodded her head. "But . . . you have also become a lot wiser. With every mistake you made, you managed to learn from it to get better . . . and you have done a good improvement of your looks since high school."
"Hey . . ." said Randy as he furrowed his eyebrows together. "As we both know, I was quite the ladies' man back in high school."
"Yeah . . . but back then you looked like you could easily be one of those guys from the 'Jersey Shore'." said Amanda with a small smirk as she broke out of his grip and walked out the room, a small chuckle escaping her lips as she walked away.
"Hey!" called Randy as he followed her out the room. "Was it because I used too much hair gel?"
"That's . . . one of the reasons," said Amanda with a smirk as she grabbed her purse. "Now grab your shoes and let's go. We have a high school reunion to get to remember?"
"Yeah, yeah, I'm coming." said the Viper as he grabbed his dress shoes from off the ground. He quickly followed her out the room and into the hallway, instantly noticing Monica tapping her heeled foot impatiently as she waited for the two.
"What's taking you two too so long?" asked the werewolf as she looked at the vampire couple. "We're you two making out or something?"
"Don't be prying into our personal business sis . . ." said 'Manda as he grabbed her Camaro keys. "Now let's go . . . we're burning daylight."
"That's my line . . ." said Monica as she followed her sister over to the elevator. Randy quickly followed after them, silently wondering how their night was going to go down.
The high school reunion happens in the next chapter. Who knows what could happen.
