Chapter 36: Brother vs Brother

Normal POV

September 1; 20 minutes before Raw

"So . . . let me get this straight?" said Sheamus, his face all serious as he looked at the Viper with narrowed eyes. "You faced off against your MMA fighter brother Nate . . . and you lost to him?"

"Uh . . . yeah," said Randy, his voice sounding very reluctant to admit it . . . for the third time in a row in fact. They were all gathered around a round table in one of the private break rooms within the arena's backstage area. Conveniently enough, Randy was standing under one of the two light fixtures that shone in the room, the glow of it shining down on him like he was the main attraction in a sideshow. "My brother beat me . . . What about it?"

"Dude . . . your YOUNGER brother beat you . . ." said Kofi as he looked at the taller man in astonishment. "Nate actually beat you . . . in an actual match?"

"Well . . . it wasn't really like the matches we usually do on Raw and SmackDown . . ." said Randy as he let out a small breath. "It was basically a full on family affair. Nate and I fought it out in the ring while the rest of our immediate family just watched on the sidelines."

"But how did you let Nate beat you?" asked Edge as he crossed his arms with an intrigued look on his face. "I am very interested to hear what you have to say about this Mr. Orton."

"You can hear what Mr. Orton has to say, AFTER he gets ready for tonight's show," said Amanda as she walked into the room with one of Randy's black suit jackets, a pressed white button down shirt, and a black pair of pants in hand. "He's part of tonight's opening segment, and I don't want Hunter coming in here a minute before show time to see that Randy's still not ready."

"I thought I would never say this in my life, but I'm actually happy to have to leave a conversation because I have to change into a more formal looking outfit." said Randy as he took the hanger that the clothes were hanging on from Amanda's hand. He quickly pecked his mate on the lips before making his way out the room, leaving the Anaconda to deal with the room filled with curious men.

"Great 'Manda . . . we all know that Randy's just going to take his sweet time changing his clothes to avoid talking about his defeat," whined Ted as he crossed his arms. "He'll probably be done by the time the Highlight Reel is supposed to begin, and if that happens, we're going to have to wait a little longer to hear about how Randy got his ass kicked by his brother. . ."

"Yeah, but by the time Randy comes back from the Highlight Reel, he's going to try his hardest to avoid the topic altogether," said John as he let out a small whistle. "We all know Randy's very good at being silent, so it may take longer than just a little while to get the answers out of him."

"Uh . . . why don't you just ask me what happened during Randy and Nate's match?" asked Amanda as she took a seat next to Wade. "I was there you know . . ."

"Oh . . . we know . . ." said Cody as he shook his head. "We just figured that Randy made you promise him to never reveal what happened to him during that brother grudge match he and Nate had to the rest of us."

"Yeah . . . Randy made me promise him no such thing . . ." said Amanda as a small smirk came across her face. "So in all honesty, I can talk about Randy's defeat to anyone I want to, as much as I want to."

"Including us?" asked Edge as a childish grin came across his face.

"Including all of you . . ." said Amanda with a childish grin of her own. ". . . So . . . shall I start the story or not?"

"Wait a minute . . ." said Ted as he quickly ran out the room. He ended up coming back two minutes later with some of the Divas following right behind him. ". . . I figured our girls deserved to hear the story too."

"As soon as Ted uttered the words 'Randy got beat by Nate', we were instantly hooked and wanted to know more," said Lita as she took a seat on Edge's lap. ". . . So, how bad was Randy's beating anyway?"

"Well . . ." said Amanda as she let out a small chuckle. ". . . It definitely hurt Randy's ego a bit, I'll give you that . . ."

A couple of weeks ago

"Alright boys," said Bob as he turned to his two grown sons. All three of them were currently standing in the middle of the ring. Everyone else was seated in chairs out on the sidelines, all of them eager to see which brother would win in this familial matchup. "I want a clean and fair fight. I don't want any cheating from the two of you, you hear me?"

"Fine by me . . . I don't need to cheat when it comes to fighting Randy here . . ." said Nate as a cocky smile came across his face. "Unlike Randy here, who needs some assistance from his Authority allies from time to time these days . . . Now that I think about it, you're not going to have 'Manda help you out to win this match are ya? Now that just won't be fair at all . . ."

"Yeah . . . I don't need 'Manda's help to beat you . . ." said Randy as he cracked his knuckles. ". . . This will be a piece of cake."

"Hey . . . can you guys stop talking so you can get your match started already?" asked Becky as she walked into the room with a bowl of popcorn in hand. "Some of us actually want to see a match between men, not a verbal argument between boys."

"Fine . . . and when did you make popcorn?" asked Nate as he raised an eyebrow at his sister.

"Just now . . ." said Becky as she sat down next to her mother. "Now . . . get on with the show will ya?"

"You know . . . if this was an actual regulated match, we could have you kicked out for being unruly." argued Nate as he scowled at his sister.

"Well . . . lucky for me that this isn't a regulated match huh?" asked Becky as a childish grin came across her face.

"Can we actually get back to the real task at hand?" asked 'Manda as she raised an eyebrow. "I would actually like to see this match happen before fall arrives people."

"Well aren't you impatient . . ." mumbled Nate as he turned his scowl on Amanda.

"She does have a point Nate . . ." said Bob as he let out a small chuckle. "We should probably get this match started already, before some of the audience members fall asleep on us."

"Fine . . ." said Nate as he turned his focus back onto Randy. " . . . Now, where were we again?"

"I was just saying that beating you will be a piece of cake . . ." answered Randy as he rolled out his shoulders.

"Oh yeah . . . we'll see about that . . ." said Nate as he got into a crouching position.

"Okay . . . I see that you two are ready?" said Bob as a small smile came across his face. "Alanna . . . are you ready to ring the bell?"

"Yes Grandpa!" called the little girl as she held the metallic ring bell right in her lap while clutching a matching hammer in her right hand. "I'm ready to go when you are."

"Alright . . . as soon as I give Alanna the signal to ring the bell, you guys can start . . ." said Bob as he locked eyes with both his sons. ". . . Are you two ready?"

"I was born ready . . ." said Nate as he began to do a few jumps in place. Randy only nodded his head for a response, his steely gaze glued on his brother the entire time he did so.

"Alright then . . ." said Bob as he shot Alanna the signal. The little girl swung her hand and smacked the bell with the hammer three times, each ring sounding louder than the last. It might as well been a shotgun firing to signal the beginning of a race, because Randy and Nate started wrestling with each other after the first ring.

"That didn't take long now did it?" asked Calypso with a small chuckle as Randy managed to push Nate into one of the corners. Randy landed a series of punches across Nate's abdomen before whipping him into another corner across the ring. Randy went in for a clothesline, but Nate managed to jump out of the before the Viper could connect. He landed one hard kick right into Randy's gut, which sent him into the turnbuckle back first.

"Remember Randy, as an MMA fighter, I know both wrestling moves AND martial arts." said Nate with a grin as he began to kick the crap out of Randy's legs and abdomen. Randy went on the defensive for the moment before thrusting himself out of the ring and landing a clothesline right into Nate's neck, sending the younger Orton right into the mat with a loud thud.

"Better shut your trap or else I'll knock your teeth out . . ." said Randy with a smirk as he began to stomp out each of his brother's limbs. He started with Nate's left hand before moving around him in a circle, stomping each limb as he went. Once he reached Nate's head, he went in for the knee drop, but Nate rolled out of the way before the move could connect, which resulted in Randy hitting the mat knee first.

"Ooh . . . you better hope you don't suffer from any long term knee pain from that move. Knee pain can be a killer for an athlete's career." chided Nate as he began to jog in a circle around his older brother, who was now clutching his right knee.

"Shut up!" scolded Randy as he grabbed Nate's right leg and tripped him up, again sending Nate back first into the mat. "Better be careful . . . I heard back pain can be a real pain in the butt too."

"Wow . . . there doing as much talking as they are wrestling . . ." mumbled Marvin as he did a small roll of his eyes.

"Hey! You didn't have to live with their trash talking all your life like I did . . ." grumbled Becky as she dropped a handful of popcorn into her mouth. "Even though I'm used to it now, it was a real pain in the butt to hear them bad mouth each other night and day every day."

"I actually second that statement . . ." said Amanda as she raised her hand in the air. "Those two can get quite annoying with their trash talking sometimes."

"Bob, you were quite the trash talker during your days in the ring . . ." said Rita as she shot her husband a small smirk. "Maybe you can give your grandsons some lessons."

"Maybe . . . they could use a couple of tips . . ." mumbled Bob Sr. as he kept his eyes on the ring. "Then again, the quality of trash talking isn't the same as it was during my best years."

"It has been lacking to a degree . . ." agreed Amanda as she watched the match. Her eyes turned to Nate, who looked completely contemplative as he stared his brother down. ". . . Hmm, Nate's thinking of something in that cocky head of his."

"He's probably thinking of a new strategy to combat Randy's tactical skills in the ring . . ." mumbled Akbar as he looked at the ring with a scrutinizing eye. ". . . Then again, that's just a guess from my point of view."

"Well . . . it's definitely a good guess," said Amanda as Nate suddenly rolled out of the ring. ". . . Now what is he doing?"

"Retreating?" suggested Mason as he grabbed a handful of popcorn from the bowl in Becky's hand. Randy quickly followed him out the ring while their father started counting to 10. As soon as the Viper reached out to grab his brother's left shoulder, Nate spun around and kicked him right in the side of his head. ". . . Or maybe not."

"Huh . . . Nate played him," said Amanda as she looked on at the scene with a smirk on her face. "He lured Randy in and took advantage. . . I'm impressed."

"Uh . . . you sound like you're supporting Nate in this match . . ." said Mason as he looked at his little sister with an eyebrow raised.

"No . . . I'm just being observant and expressing my opinion, that's all . . ." said Amanda as she shook her head. "Besides, if Randy found out that I was on Nate's side in this match, then he would never forgive me for it."

"You know he won't do that . . ." said Mason as the siblings watched as Nate rolled his brother back into the ring. "Randy loves you too much to hold that against you forever."

"You're right . . . he does love me too much to hold it against me forever," said Amanda as Nate got into the ring before Bob could utter the number 10. "But he will try to hold it against me for as long as he can . . . That's just the kind of person Randy is. . . He'll hold something against you, but he won't hold it against you forever."

"That is true . . ." said Mason as he began to dig into his popcorn. ". . . That is so true."

"Ah . . . is someone seeing stars already?" asked Nate as he crouched down to his brother's level. "I hope I didn't give you a concussion Randy. . . I don't want to win the match just because you got injured and couldn't continue."

"What do you take me for? A sissy?" exclaimed Randy as he suddenly tackled his brother down to the ground. He landed a few, yet very hard, punches across his brother's skull before Bob came in to pull him away. As Bob began talking to Randy to calm him down, Nate slowly got up to a crouching position and appeared disoriented. Once Bob finished speaking, Randy turned to his brother and smirked when he saw that his brother was looking so confused. His eyes widened for a split second before they narrowed once again; his growing even wider when he spun down to the mat and began to bang it with his fists.

"Uh oh . . . we all know what that means . . ." said Calypso in a sing song voice as Randy got into his Viper stance.

"Daddy's gonna win! Daddy's gonna win!" Alanna started chanting as she began to shake her fist in sync with her victory chant. Josh was doing the exact same thing, but instead of chanting for Randy, he was chanting for Nate, much to Sam's chagrin.

"Looks like Nate is going to lose after all . . ." mumbled Becky as she ate another mouthful of popcorn. "I guess the older sibling beats the younger sibling in the end after all."

"I hope Nate likes the taste of mat, because he's going to be eating it in just a few seconds . . ." mumbled Marvin, his eyes widening in anticipation as he started to lean forward in his seat.

"Hey . . . why aren't the psychics saying anything?" asked Rita as she turned to Amanda and her family, all of them eerily silent as they watched the ring.

"Simple my dear . . ." said Bob Sr. as he turned to his mate. ". . . They simply know something that we don't."

"I can taste victory now . . ." Randy whispered to himself as Nate finally got back onto his feet, although his face still looked a little confused. Randy slowly got out of his stance and back onto his feet. With a smirk dotting his face, Randy went in for his RKO, but Nate dodged it just in the nick of time, escaping the hold before Randy could get a firm grasp on him. Nate quickly shoved his brother into the nearest turnbuckle chest first and whipped him into the matching turnbuckle across the ring back first. Randy quickly launched himself out of the corner and tried to go in for another clothesline, but Nate quickly dodged him and got into a fighting stance.

"EAT THIS!" exclaimed the younger Orton as he did a Chuck Norris style roundhouse kick right to the side of Randy's head. The sudden hit got Randy right in his right temple, stunning him in place, but soon enough he crumpled onto his knees before falling face first into the mat. Nate quickly rolled his brother over and covered his chest before hooking up one of Randy's legs ready for his father to count the 1, 2, and 3.

"One . . . two . . . three! Ring the bell!" exclaimed Bob as he got back onto his feet. Sam ended up ringing the bell since Alanna was so stunned to do so. As Bob raised Nate's hand in victory, Randy slowly sat up looking at his brother in complete shock as he brought a hand to his reddening right temple.

"You . . . you actually beat me?" said Randy as he looked at his brother in absolute disbelief. "You actually beat me?!"

"Heck yes I did!" exclaimed Nate as he did his brother's signature pose on the second turnbuckle, adding insult to injury. "I beat you, which means I'm the superior brother!"

"Well done Nate," said Elaine as she walked over to the side of the ring. "Although, the bragging after the win is not needed if you ask me."

"Not needed?" asked Nate as he looked at his mother in shock. "Are you kidding me? Of course it's needed! I just beat my brother fair and square! This deserves some bragging! I may even brag my win on social media!"

"Don't you dare!" said Randy as he shot his brother a murderous look. "If I see any hint of you mentioning this match on any of your social media accounts, I will destroy you!"

"Hmm . . . someone's a sore loser," said Nate as he stuck his tongue out at him. "Fine, I won't mention this on social media. I'll give you that . . . But you are going to have to live with the fact that your little brother beat you in a match fair and square, in front of friends and family no less. . . You must feel so ashamed right now."

"Nate, now you're just pushing it . . ." said Rita as she shook her head at her grandson's antics.

"Why are you guys acting like I'm the bad guy?" asked Nate as he looked at them accusingly. "If Randy won, he probably would've acted the same way I'm acting right now."

"Actually . . . he makes a good point . . ." said Sam as she reluctantly came to Nate's defense. "Randy's does share some similarities in attitude with his brother. It's possible Mr. Viper over here would have acted the same way."

"Thank you Sam . . ." said Nate as he turned to his ex-sister in law.

"Okay, okay . . . enough with the accusations . . ." said Bob Sr. as he let out a small chuckle. "Let's have cooler heads prevail here people . . . How about we all go out to get something to eat?"

"That sounds like a good idea Grandpa . . ." said Nate as he rolled out of the ring. ". . . I am a little famished."

"Huh . . . I would have expected you to say something along the lines of 'We can treat it as my victory meal' or something . . ." mumbled Becky as most of the group made their way out of the room.

"Oh . . ." said Nate as his eyes widened in realization. ". . . I never thought of that. Thanks Becky!"

"Don't mention it . . ." said Becky as she just shook her head disappointedly. Once most of the room was evacuated, Randy rolled out the ring with a disappointed look on his face. Once he had his feet firmly planted on the ground, he looked up to see that only Alanna and Amanda remained; their looks solemn as they remained silent.

"I thought you two would have left with the rest of them . . ." said Randy as a small scowl came across his face.

"I'm just about to . . ." said Alanna as she began to walk away, but then she turned around to address her father one last time. "Even though you did lose, you were definitely the better fighter Daddy."

"Thanks Alanna . . ." said Randy as he shot her a small smirk. Alanna returned it with a smile of her own before running out the room, leaving the snake couple to themselves. "So . . . I'm guessing you had a feeling that I was going to lose right? I noticed you and your family getting all silent toward the end of the match."

"Yeah . . . we all knew that Nate was going to counter your RKO," said Amanda as she let out a small breath. "But none of us expected him to go all Chuck Norris on you and kick you in the side of the head . . . That was definitely something."

"Yeah . . . I should have expected it since he's an MMA fighter after all." said Randy as he did a small shrug. "But still, I thought I had it in the bag once I saw him look so confused and disoriented. . . I guess I was wrong."

"Hey . . . don't be so down on yourself . . ." said Amanda as she brought a hand to his cheek. "You and Nate fought a great match . . . You should be proud of yourself."

"Still . . . I wish I had won the match though, just to shut Nate up . . ." said Randy as he wrapped an arm around Amanda's shoulders as they started to walk out the room.

"You can't win every fight you're in Randy . . ." said Amanda as she let out a small chuckle. "Working for the WWE for over a decade should have taught you that."

"That's true . . . although, I do wonder if things would have went differently if I had on my baby oil likely I usually do . . ." said Randy as he shot his mate a small mischievous look.

"Oh . . . so you're going to blame my mom for your loss?" asked Amanda as she raised an eyebrow. "How childish can you be?"

"Hey . . . it's just a thought . . ." said Randy as he shrugged his shoulders.

"Yeah well . . . that thought of yours is putting you this close to sleeping on the couch tonight . . ." said Amanda as she shot her boyfriend a scowl. "Do you still want to continue blaming my mom?"

"I'll shut up now."

Present time

"Wow . . . so that's how it happened . . ." mumbled John as he looked at Amanda with widened eyes. "Did Nate really beat Randy Chuck Norris style?"

"Yep . . . He roundhouse kicked him right in the head . . ." said Amanda as she shook her head. "You should have seen Randy after the kick. He went so still before falling down to the mat, I thought for a second Nate's kick had frozen him in place."

"Damn, I wish I was there to see that . . ." said Edge as he snapped his fingers. "And none of you guys videotaped it?"

"Nope . . . and if Randy even sees you mention his fight on any of the social media accounts, he will not hesitate to find you and kick all of your asses." said Amanda as she pointed at everyone.

"Well there's no point in that threat," argued Kaitlyn as she let Cody rest his head on her lap. "Randy's not a frequent user of social media, so I think we're safe from the Viper in that area."

"No you're not!" said Randy as he walked into the room, still dressed in the outfit Amanda gave him earlier. "I will look at all of your social media accounts to see if you had even write a hint of my match with my brother, and if I see that any of you had done so, I will kick your ass."

"And the Viper has spoken . . ." mumbled Monica as she resisted the urge to let out a small chuckle. "On to other things, Amanda . . . what's your opinion on the idea of a big party for your baby shower?"

"I would say that if you made my baby shower one big party, I would find every hat you own and tear them to shreds," said Amanda as she turned to her twin. "How's that for my opinion?"

"Okay . . . a small baby shower it is then . . ." said Monica as she protectively clutched the cap that was perched on top of her head. Amanda knew that her sister loved her hats, so threatening her favorite accessory was definitely a strategy that the Anaconda used to get her way.

"Well . . . if you're going to start talking about baby showers, then that means it's going to lead into girls' stuff, which is something I don't want to be a part of right now, so I'll be on my way." said John as he rushed out the room. The other guys, except for Randy, made their way out the room, with Ted being the last one to leave. However, before he stepped out of the room, he turned to Randy with a smirk.

"Oh before I go . . . Congrats on the new movie role Randy." said Ted with a grin before walking out the room.

"Wait . . . what new movie role?" asked Amanda as she raised an eyebrow at her mate. "Ran? What was ted talking about?"

"Oh yeah . . . I guess I forgot to tell you," said Randy as he let out a small chuckle. ". . . To cut to the chase, you won't be seeing me in the wrestling ring for a little while."
