That day we do a few exercises, and run up Currahee with Winters leading us this time. After our run I head off to the showers, Dick and Luz trailing behind. I stop by my barrack and grab my uniform. When I arrive at the shower I choose the one closest to the door because it seems to give me the warmest water. I strip my clothes off and keep my underwear on. I let the water run over me for a minute then I wash my hair. I hear someone open the door and I freeze. I quickly cover my chest and turn around to see who it is. I see a blushing Dick standing there. "Carry on," he says slowly turning around. I feel my cheeks burning up as I turn around and finish my shower. As I dry myself I softly sing to my self, and I guess my soft singing got louder and louder ;cause I hear Dick let out a chuckle.
"Sorry," I say.
"It's alright,' he reply's, drying his hair with his towel. I wait for him to put his boots on, and we head to the mess hall together. When we get there the only people there are Luz, Bill, and Annie. I run up to her and give her a hug.
"You know her Ash?" asks Luz.
"Ya I've known her since like forever," I reply.
"Hey Ashley?" asks Annie.
"Ya." She lifts her hand up and I see that she has a jump rope in her hand. "I want to jump rope!" I squeal.
"Okay. Hey can Bill come over here and take the other end," she says.
"Okay," he answers, taking the other end. When they start swinging the rope I jump in and start singing:
"Cinderella dressed in yellow,
went up stairs to kiss her fellow,
by mistake she kissed a snake,
how many doctors will it take." I get all the way to 20 before I trip.
"Hey I got one! Remember the one were we say the alphabet and whatever letter u trip on that's what your lovers name has to start with," says Annie.
"Oh yeah!" I say, as the begin to swing the rope again. I get all the way to R before I trip again. immediately Luz and Bill shout Richard, and I see Dick blush a little.
"Okay what about Fudge?" I ask.
"Okay," she says and starts to swing the rope again.
"Fudge, fudge call the judge,
Ashlynn's having a baby,
her boyfriend going crazy,
how many babies will she have?" I get all the way to 20 before I trip again.
"Damn girl 20 kids! that's a lot!" exclaims Bill. I smirk at him.
"What about lemon lime?" asks Annie, swinging the rope.
"Sure," I say.
"Lemon lime,

how many boys can u kiss in an hour?" I reach 18 before tripping once again.
Annie goes and puts the rope back in its place, as I take a seat at the table.
I reach into my pocket, and pull out the song I'm working on. I read it over to see if I need to add anything else, when Bill pears over my shoulder."Whats that?" he asks.
"Oh its just a song im working on," I say.
"Ooo! Can we sing with you too!" George asks excitedly.
"Ah sure," I say.
"Hey Ashley you gonna sing again?" Bill asks.
"I sure am," I say.
"And she said we can sing along too!" George says excitedly.
"Alright I'm up for it," says Dick.
"Alright who else?" Just then Nix and Jo walk in.
"Hey you guys, Ashley said we could sing with her today!" George says in a girly voice.
We all start laughing. I lay out my papers and we all take a seat. I circle the parts that they have to sing. I tell them that one of them has to pluck the guitar while someone bangs on the table. I show them the beat and they do surprisingly well. I suddenly get a sharp pain in my stomach. I drop to the floor and curl up into a ball
"Ashlynn are you okay?" Winters asks crouching down beside me.
"Yup I'm fine. Annie?" I ask looking up at her, raising my eyebrows.
"Oh dear! I'll be right back!" She says jogging off.
"Hurry!"I shout after her. At that point I think the boys realise what's going, and they all fall into hysterics. I quickly get on my feet and cross my arms.
"It's not funny!" i say. That just caused them to laugh even more. I roll my eyes and walk over to Jo i pull his ear.
"Ow, ow ow!" he shouts.
"This isn't a laughing matter. I can imagine you men don't have any clue about what it feels like. I know its silly ok but it really hurts," I say still holding Lieb's ear.
"Okay I get it can you please let go?" he says, and when I release it he starts rubbing it. That's when people started piling in. I feel something go drip down my legs.
"Are you ok?' asks Luz.
"No," i answer staring at the doors. Just then Annie burst in pad and clean underwear in hand.
"Ashlynn I-got-it," she says panting. I run over to her and i grab the pad, and underwear from her hands and I run to the nearest rest room.
I walk through the doors, and sit straight to my seat. "Are we still doing it or not?" Bill asks.
"I'm not sure, if u guys want to?" I say.
"Of course we do! We don't know about Winters and Nix tho," says Luz.
"Wait I have to get some grub." I stand in the line take a tray with food and head to the table. I quickly eat my food just as a bottle of wine makes its way to our table. Luz grabs it and hands it to me telling me to drink at least half. I chug down half the bottle and the boys start shouting like crazy. I feel someone lift me up. I turn to look at the person and it's Dick.
"Come on while there distracted." I take a seat on a stool, while Annie sits at the piano and Bill takes the guitar, and Jo dick, and lu sit at the table. I let out aloud cough and the boys bang the beat on the table while Bill plucks the guitar. I take a deep breath and start singing.

The room erupts into cheers. I feel someone tap my shoulder, I turn around and I see that its Speirs. "You know you talk with an accent right?"
"I do?" I ask cause I never really noticed it. "Well I guess it's a New Englander thing," I say shrugging. Then Nix comes up to me and places his arm around my shoulders. I can tell he's drunk, I can smell it. I grab the whiskey out of his hand and I drink it all. He suddenly picks me up and throws me on to his shoulder. "Lew you put me down now!" I say thrashing around, he still refuses to let go.
"Not until you sing another song!" he shouts.
"Okay fine just put me down." He places me on the ground and hands me my guitar. I sit on the edge of a table. I take a deep breath quickly look around the room then I start playing. But then I just put down my guitar, and take another look at everyone in the room. I smile and start making up the lyrics as went.

I feel someone put their hand on my shoulder and its Dick. I smile at him and he smiles back. I suddenly get lost in his eyes and before I knew it our lips were just centimeters. He was the first one to lean in kissing me. At first I'm to surprised to kiss back then I realise whats going on and I kiss back. I wrap my arms around his neck, and he places his hands on my ass. Unfortunately we eventually have to come up for air. I look at him with a wide smile on my lips, his lips in a similar shape. His pupils are dilated and they're a dark green now, suspect I look the same. I hear someone let out a cough I turn around blushing scarlet red.
"Um," i say lost at words. I see Lew stifling a laugh. Everyone turns away and continues wat they were doing, and Dick takes hold of my hand. I send him a small smile and I suddenly remember prom night. We invited the school to have the prom at our mansion and we sang a song that we made up on a train trip to Michigan with my cousin Rachel. I smile at the memory. I really miss Rachel. I sit between Jo and Luz and I take jo's drink from his hand.
"Hey!" he shouts.
"Hey yourself, I'm gonna show something I made up with my sister and my cousin Rachel," I say after drinking the rest of his whiskey. I place the cup upside and start clapping lifting the cup in such. the whole room goes silent and the only thing you can hear is the catchy beat of the cup.

"Oh how sweet of you," I reply with a giggle. I feel someone tap my shoulder and its Annie. She has I broom in her and. I roll my eyes and get up. I take the broom from her hand and start sweeping. I smile as I remember my sister. I remember the song we used to sing all the time together.

Just then Colonel sink walks in. "Ten hut!" someone shouts. Everyone gets up on their feet.
"I'm sure you all know about Sobel," he says. I look down at my boots as he says this. "He'll be coming back tomorrow. You've all heard about how Japan has set the record of the longest march. They covered a 100 miles in just 72 hours. We are going to be marching the 118 miles all the way to Atlanta in just 72 hours . As you all know we will be leaving the Camp in three days, so tomorrow I expect everyone to be packing up. Alright your free to go."
"Sir!" we all say in sync. As he leaves he sends me a smile and I just had to smile back. Suddenly I feel some one wrap there arms around my waist.
"Your hair is so pretty," Jo whispers into my ear. I can smell the alcohol coming off him.
"Thank you," I say leaning into him.
"No problem," he says turning me to face him.
Just then Nixon stumbles over.
"Just to let you know I'm gonna be heading to town, I got permission from colonel Sink," he says hitting his chest proudly.
"Excuse us we just have to run some errands. Will be back later tonight," says dick.
"Bye!" I say. As soon the doors shut behind them Jo grabs my hand and pulls me into a supply closet. He takes of his uniform top and gestures for me to do the same.
"No Jo, I know im drunk but you shouldn't take advantage of me. I'll give you a hand job though," I say rolling up my sleeves.
"Better than nothing," he says shrugging as he un zips his fly. "Can I get a few kisses to?"
"We'll see," I say.
...
I walk out of the closet Jo trailing behind. We quickly get back to the table before anyone notices. It's to late. Luz grabs my shirt collar and pushes me against the wall.
"I see how it is! You go into the to go making out with Lieb!" he shouts in my face. Suddenly I'm scared of what he's gonna do next.
"You know you can't keep me out of these things," he says tracing my body with his finger. I shiver.
"Luz please," I beg.
"Nope no please, this'll teach you never leave Luzzy Wuzzy outa things like this," he says.
"Luz please I beg you," I say with a tremor in my voice. Just then Juju walks over. He puts a hand on George's shoulder and says"Thats enough luz." he lets giving me a glare before heading out towards the barracks.
"Thanks Juju. I thought no one was gonna save me there," I say.
"No problem. Anyone else bother you just give me a shout," he says.
"I will."
I wake up with start. I look around the room and realise it was just a dream. I immediately break down I cry for a while before I hear someone walking over to me. I look up and see some on coming over. I pull the covers closer to my chest. The person sits on the side of he bed and places a hand on my knee.
"Let's go for a walk," says Juju.
"Okay," I say, sniffling. He offers me a hand. I gladly take it, and he helps me up.
We walk around the barracks no one speaking until Doc breaks the silence. "How long has this been happening?" he asks.
"What?" I ask.
"The nightmares. I know you have them don't deny it," he says.
"Honestly, it's never been this bad usually I just thrash around or flip into different positions. It's never gotten to the point where I scream or shout or even punch or hit things. I don't know whats gotten into me," I say.
"Listen to me you listening?" he asks stopping me turning me to face him. I nod. "If you need anything, anything I'm here for you. Don't hesitate to come to me ok? Especially since Sobel's coming back. I'm sure winters will also be more than happy to help."
"Thank you," I say placing a hand on his shoulder.
"Your welcome. Now you better go wash up," he says turning away.
"Juju wait," I say. He turns his head and looks at me. "I'm scared."
"Of what?" he asks.
"Walking alone," I say softly. Doc just smiles, takes my hand and we walk to the bathroom. He waits outside the door, as I wash my face, then use the bathroom. As we head back to my barrack we see Lewy and Dick walking back. I run into his arms and bury my head in his chest, grabbing his shirt into a fist. I hear him and Doc softly talking to each other. Dick picks me up wedding style in the other direction. A minute or two later a hear a door squeak open and slam shut as Dick places me on a cot. As soon as I feel the other side of the cot droop down I snuggle up against him. I feel him his arm around my waist, and I hear Lew mumble something as he settles into his cot.
That morning I wake up and have the sudden urge to vomit I quickly run over to the door, and run to the side of the barrack. I puke up all the food I had last night. Someone comes up behind and lifts the hair from my face and pulls it up into a bun. I puke up the last of my dinner and turn around and I almost bump into Winters. I fall, but he catches me right before I fall to the ground. "Sobel's coming today you got five minutes to get yourself ready and presentable. Don't forget to brush the dust off those new Lieutenant bars," he says, winking.
"Okay," I say with a smile. I head down to the showers and just let the water wash over me. After I throw my uniform on, and tie my hair up in a bun again,and head out the door. I pass by Bill and ask him if my uniforms alright. He looks me up and down before saying, "You have a duck tale." I smile and tuck my shirt in from the back.
"That better?" I ask.
"Much better," he says. Just then Frank runs past us. I mange to grab his arm.
"Woah there frank whats the rush?" I ask.
"We oughta be out front in a minute," he says frantically.
"Holy crap!" I say running off. When I get there I stand in my place next Lipton. I get there just in time because I see him walk towards us. As I look at him I only have one thought in my head, and I try really hard not to laugh. I can feel my face reddening, I bite my bottom lip to keep myself from laughing. I guess I bit down to hard because it starts bleeding. I don't even hear what he says because I'm to busy trying not to laugh. As soon as he's gone I burst out into laughter. I get looks from the men but i don't care, i just keep on laughing until my eyes start tearing. I fall to the ground gasping for air, still laughing, and wipe my tears. I get up and dust the dirt off my ass.
"Oi, what are you laughin about?" asks Donny.
"Something," i say.
"No shit Sherlock. What's so funny?" Luz asks.
"Oh i was just thinking of my brother Jesse," I say.
"What about him?" Jo asks.
"A lot of things about him," I say.
"Like what? asks Donny.
