Chapter 44: The Homecoming
Normal POV
"So, how did the whole labor process go huh?" asked Lita as everyone gathered round in the decorated living room. "I bet it hurt like crazy . . . I would have used a stronger phrase than 'hurt like crazy', but there are kids here and I don't want to be the first one to get in trouble for cursing around them today people."
"It definitely hurt like you wouldn't believe . . ." said Amanda as she shook her head of the memory from yesterday. "And I didn't have the comfort of drugs to help lessen the pain either . . . They wouldn't work for me anyway."
"Well, that's not something I like to hear . . ." mumbled fellow vampire Kaitlyn as she shook her head. Cody turned to her with a sheepish smirk, him feeling a little sorry about her having to go through the child birthing process, and the pain that comes with it, someday in their future.
"Hey! Did you happen to break Randy's hand when you were giving birth?" asked Edge as he raised an eyebrow. "I'm just curious. . ."
"I . . . think it cracked in a few places . . ." mumbled Amanda as she turned to Randy, who only looked at her with an eyebrow raised. "What I said doesn't describe it enough does it?"
"You think you cracked it in a few places?" asked Randy as he passed Gabriella over to his mother right next to him. "I actually let the doc x-ray my hand after you gave birth. When I saw the results, there was this long crack that went from an inch below my thumb all the way to the base of my pinky. Every time I tried to bend my hand, it would sting . . . painfully sting might I add."
"See, this is why it's dangerous for the man to let their significant other hold their hand during childbirth," said Nate as he shook his arm. "It never ends well for the part of the body that the woman holds onto . . . Didn't you say that when Sam gave birth to Alanna, she held on to your left wrist during the process? If I remember correctly, you said that she cracked it so badly, that it would have to have been surgically repaired if you were human."
"Now that begs the question . . ." mumbled Kofi as he brought a hand to his goatee-growing chin. "Who had the worse grip: Amanda or Sam?"
"It doesn't matter whose grip was worse. What matters is that both women's grips were definitely a brutal thing to go through," said Randy as he shook his head. "A word of warning for the rest of you guys: Even if you want to avoid the pain, you are going to feel compelled to hold your girl's hand. And when you do, you better brace yourselves because it's going to hurt, no matter what kind of species you are."
"That is some good advice," said Cody as he shook his head. "Well, you should be glad that vampires are fast healers Ran, because it just means you don't have to worry about missing work . . . And speaking of missing work . . ."
"I don't have to worry about my movie right now guys," said Randy as he let a small smirk come across his face. "Filming has been postponed till Monday."
"We figured that would happen, but that's not the kind of work Cody was talking about," said Ted as he shook his head. "What he meant was wrestling work . . ."
"I'm not scheduled for any WWE events throughout next month . . ." said Randy as he looked at his friends suspiciously. "What are you getting at now?"
"Well, yesterday . . . you weren't scheduled for and WWE events till next month," said John as he shook his head. "But I heard it from Steph and Hunter myself before I flew out here yesterday . . . They have decided that you're going to be heading back to work a little sooner than expected man."
"Great . . ." mumbled the Viper as a scowl came across his face. "When am I supposed to start working again?"
"You come back to work during the first WWE house show after Christmas up at MSG in NYC," explained the Cenation leader as he adjusted the baseball cap on his head. "That happens to be Friday, December 26, which is the first day after Christmas . . . Sorry."
"So you're telling me that I basically have to fly out Christmas night in order to make it to work on the Northeast the very next day . . ." said Randy as he raised an eyebrow. "So much for a relaxing Christmas vacation with the family . . ."
"Hmm . . . I see you're a little mad. I guess it would be a bad idea now to mention that you also will be making an appearance on the first Raw after that in DC I believe . . . I'm not certain on the details just yet, but I think you're supposed to show up for work that day too . . . It could be just a rumor, but I doubt it," said Edge as he let out a nervous chuckle. When he noticed that the Viper was giving him his signature ice cold glare, he quickly turned away and headed straight for the kitchen. "Do y'all have any beer here, because I'm thirsty?"
"C'mon Randy, knowing Steph and Hunter for as long as you have, you should have expected them to pull something like this one of these days . . ." said John as he shook his head. "It's just in their business type nature."
"Yeah . . . I guess you're right . . ." said the Viper as he shrugged his shoulders. "But I had a good feeling that I wouldn't be called back in for work till the Royal Rumble at least."
"That's Hunter and Steph for ya . . ." said Monica as she let out a small chuckle. "They'll leave you thinking you're gonna expect something good, and next thing you'll know, you're hit with something that you least expect, literally sometimes."
"Well . . . you still have a long way to go till you're back to wrestling again . . ." said Kelly as she crossed her arms. "You might as well enjoy the time you have with your family now while you still can."
"Not just yet Barbie . . ." said Nate a sneaky smirk came across his face. "There's still one more issue to discuss. . . Our resident snake couple has yet to determine who the godparents will be. Isn't that right Randy, Amanda?"
"Way to put us on the spot Nate . . ." mumbled Amanda as she shot him a narrowed eyed look.
"You two still haven't decided that yet?" asked Layla as she raised an eyebrow. "You've had months to decide on that. What's the holdup?"
"I guess it just slipped our minds . . ." said Randy as he shrugged his shoulders. "Besides, it's hard to choose a set of godparents from all of you."
"I guess choosing on seniority is off the table . . ." mumbled Edge as he walked back into the room with a beer in hand.
"And I guess choosing based on how long you've known the person is gone from your list of considerations as well. . ." said John as he looked at the head shaking Viper. ". . . I thought so."
"Eh; you're making things difficult for yourselves," said Bob Sr. as he jumped into the conversation. "Back in my day, we would simply just fight for who gets to be a child's godparent and leave it at that."
"You really did that kind of stuff back then Grandpa?" Randy asked the man as he raised an eyebrow.
"Nope; I thought it would just be a fun thing to say to ease the growing tension in this room," said Bob as he shot his oldest grandson a smug smirk. " . . . I'm surprised you believed that Ran. Who knew you were that gullible huh?"
"That was a bad joke to make, Grandpa Bob . . ." mumbled Nate as he shook his head while Randy just stared at their grandfather in slight agitation. "But what you said gives me an idea. You guys are wrestlers, so do the one thing you're good at the most and just wrestle for the right to be Dani and Gabi's godparents."
"Hmm . . . do you really think having our friends wrestle each other for the right to be Dani and Gabi's godparents is the best idea?" asked Amanda as she raised an eyebrow at the younger Orton. "Hmm . . . I don't know."
"Let's put it to a vote then . . . Who thinks wrestling for the right to be the twins' godparents is the best idea to go with? Raise your right hand for yes. If you're voting no, then raise your left hand." said Nate as he raised his right hand. Randy and Amanda could only look on in surprise as everyone's hands began to rise up one by one by one. Once everyone voted, the snake couple saw that everyone had voted yes. No one voted no.
"You all can't be serious . . ." Randy said as he started to hold back a chuckle. "You are all willing to wrestle for the right to be the twins' godparents?"
"Nate does raise a good point Ran," said Cody as he shrugged his shoulders. "If you and Amanda can't come to a decision on who you want as your girls' godparents, then we might as well wrestle for it. . . We're professional wrestlers after all. We might as well decide this situation with the one thing that we're all good at."
"This place does have a perfectly good wrestling ring in the back . . ." said Alicia as she shook her head. "Plus, it would be a good way to get some practice in before we all have to go back to work."
"Besides some of us needing to change clothes, what's stopping us from doing it?" asked Layla as she let a small smirk come across her face.
"I guess if you all want to do this, we shouldn't stop you . . ." said Amanda as she looked down at Daniela, who only stared up at her curiously. "Besides, it'll be fun to see who can best who among the group."
"Uh . . . there's still one more thing that we have to discuss though," said Edge as he shook his head. "I can't wrestle anymore with my bad neck . . . What am I supposed to do?"
"Uh . . . how about I represent you in the ring . . ." suggested Nate as he walked over to him. "If I can beat my brother in a match, then I should have no problem facing off against the rest of the competition here."
"I had a feeling you were going to bring that up one of these days . . ." mumbled Randy as he noticed that Gabriella was starting to look disgruntled in her grandmother's arms. "Uh oh, what's wrong with Gabi?"
"I think she's hungry . . ." said Elaine as she walked over to 'Manda with the squirming baby in her arms.
"I'll handle it . . ." said Amanda as she passed Daniela over to her sister. Once Elaine passed her granddaughter over to her mother, 'Manda made a beeline to the bedroom she shared with Randy and closed the door behind her. She took a seat on the bed and quickly pulled her shirt collar down to reveal her bra covered left breast. ". . . You are really turning out to be the hungry twin huh Gabriella. I don't think your sister has had as much milk as you had since I birthed you two yesterday girl."
Gabriella only looked at her in response, watching her mother as she unhooked her bra strap from her shoulder and pulled the piece of clothing downward so that her left breast was exposed. Once Gabi latched onto her boob to get her fill, Amanda looked up to see a door in her room that looked fairly new, even to her.
"I don't remember that door ever being there . . ." mumbled the Anaconda as she raised an eyebrow. "I wonder where that came from."
"Oh . . . it was recently put in . . ."
Amanda looked up to see Randy peeking into the room with Daniella in his arms. He opened the door enough for him to slip through and quickly closed the door behind him, mostly to make sure that Nate, who was standing right behind him as he entered, didn't get a glimpse of 'Manda in her state of undress.
"I see you have something to do with this . . ." said Amanda as Randy walked over to stand in front of her. "Why would you have an additional door put in our bedroom?"
"I thought it would be easier to have a door in our room that led straight to the nursery then just having to walk out of our room, into the hallway, and then into the nursery next door to get to our girls." explained the Viper as he began to play around with Daniela's itty bitty fingers, much to the little girl's apparent delight.
"So that door leads into the girls' nursery?" asked the Anaconda as she looked at the Viper with a knowing smirk.
"That's right . . . You wanted a nursery for the girls', and you got one," Randy told her with a strong nod of his head. "And it's just behind this door. I'll show it to you now if you want."
"Oh you know I want to see the results for myself . . ." said Amanda as she dislodged Gabi from her breast. Once she finally covered herself up and burped Gabi, she followed Randy over to the door, anticipation and expectation already building up inside her. "Are you ready to see your new room girls?"
"Of course they're ready . . ." said Randy, becoming the twins' mouthpiece in the process. "They are going to love their nursery once they see it."
"Well we'll find out for ourselves once you open that door . . ." said Amanda as she let cradled Gabi in her arms. "Now stop delaying it and open the door already."
"Alright, alright . . ." said Randy as he held Gabriella in one arm and grasped the doorknob with his other hand. "'Manda, Dani, Gabi; I would like to introduce you all to the loft's new nursery! Ta da!"
Randy swung the door open to reveal the darkened room. Once they had stepped inside, Randy quickly flipped the light switch on to reveal the room, and it left Amanda speechless. The Anaconda could only look around wide eyed at the room, which was converted out of one of the guestrooms. The baby cribs were located on one side of the room, right by the changing table. A rocking chair was on the other side of the cribs. The room held a purple and blue color scheme to it and it basically contained all the necessities of the usual nursery. Amanda couldn't be happier.
"So babe . . . Do you like it?" asked Randy as he walked over to the stunned silent Anaconda. "You haven't said a word since we walked in here. . . Are you okay?"
"I'm okay . . ." Amanda managed to breathe out as she continued to look around the room. "I'm just amazed at what you did . . ."
"It was a combined effort between me and Sam, but thanks for giving me most of the credit . . ." said Randy as he shook his head. "It's most appreciated. . . Do you like it?"
"Do I like it . . ." said Amanda as she let out a small chuckle. "I love it . . . This room looks amazing babe."
"Do you like it Dani? Gabi?" asked Randy as he turned to his two daughters. Dani just blinked at him while Gabi let out a small sound. "I'll take the eye blinking and the baby sound as a yes."
"I'm sure they'll be a little more expressive once they get a little bit older babe." said Amanda as she took a seat on the rocking chair.
"Yeah, but once they're a bit older, then that means they'll be more likely to talk back to us when something doesn't go their way," said Randy as he shook his head. "I'm not looking forward to that when the time comes babe . . ."
"Hmm . . . The big bad Viper can't handle a little sass huh?" asked Amanda as she rocked Gabriella back and forth gently. "If that's the case, us girls will really overpower you when we need to, and I mean it Mr."
"Not unless I have a little bit of backup with me . . ." said Randy as he let a smirk come across his face.
"Oh no . . . I'm not interested in anymore baby making until our twins here are older, and I mean years older," said Amanda as she adamantly shook her head. "Ask me again in about six to seven years okay?"
"Ah . . . I guess giving you another sibling will have to wait you two . . ." said Randy as he looked at each of the twins. "You're just going to have to settle with your big sister Alanna for now."
"Sorry babe . . . but I at least want a few more years of wrestling under my belt before I officially settle down and go into stay at home mom mode . . " said Amanda as she let out a small chuckle. "That dream of having at least one son to add to the family lineage will just have to wait a little longer."
"That's alright . . ." said Randy as he shook his head. "Besides, you're not the only one who wants to see you back in the ring."
"I'll be back in the ring, just after I lose the leftover baby weight first." said Amanda as she confidently shook her head.
"But you don't look like you need to lose that much weight . . ." said the Viper in a supportive tone as he looked at his mate's frame. "A good ten pounds give or take . . ."
"That's nice of you to say babe, but I'll stop losing weight once I feel I'm back to my old slim down form again," said Amanda, just as they heard a knock at the door. "What is it sis?"
"Everyone's ready to start wrestling!" called Monica as she opened the door and popped her head inside. "Nice nursery! It kinda makes me wish that I was a baby and this was my room."
"Don't let Mom hear you say that . . ." said Amanda as she shook her head. "She'll think that you didn't like the nursery we were raised in back when we were babies."
"You guys can remember that far back into your childhood?" asked Randy as the snake couple joined the werewolf in the hallway.
"Of course we can . . . if we want to," said Monica as she shook her finger at him. "So are the twins ready for their first glimpse into the family business?"
"Hold that thought . . ." said Randy as he quickly passed Daniela over to Monica. "Before we go into the back, there's one thing that's missing. I'll be right back."
"What do you think he's talking about?" asked Monica as the twins watched as Randy quickly went back into the nursery.
"Who knows . . ." said Amanda as she shook her head. The twins waited until the Viper reemerged from the nursery with two baby sized noise canceling headphones in his hands. "You went back into the nursery to get baby sized headphones?"
"Correction: baby sized enchanted noise canceling headphones . . ." said Randy as he began placing one of the headphones over Daniela's ears. "Regular ones wouldn't work for our little girls. Their ears are just too sensitive for loud noises at this stage of their life, and considering the career path we follow, these headphones are going to come in handy when we travel from arena to arena."
"Where'd you get them?" asked Monica as she watched as Randy placed the other pair of headphones on Gabi's ears.
"I had Natalya make them for me . . ." said Randy as he shrugged his shoulders. "Now the girls won't have to worry about the loud noises irritating their poor little eardrums. Not with these bad boys protecting their ears."
"Uh guys . . . are you going to join us back here or not?" asked Becky as she poked her head out of the room where the wrestling ring lay. Randy, Amanda, and Monica quickly entered the room to see all the girls gathered in the ring while everyone else was waiting around the outside of it, ready to get this show on the road.
"So, how is this going to play out?" asked Amanda as she and Randy sat down by the ring bell.
"We're doing this battle royal style . . ." said Lita as she sat on top of one of the turnbuckles. "Last person standing in the ring is the winner."
"Alright, let's get this show on the road!" called Calypso as she walked over to the bell with the brass hammer in hand. Once she reached the bell, she smacked it with the hammer three times, signaling the beginning of the match. The Divas didn't hesitate, pouncing on one another in order to get the upper hand, with their men on the sidelines cheering them on. Eventually, Kelly was the first to be eliminated, then Layla, then Kailtyn. It was now down to Alicia and Lita. Alicia tried to do her signature scissor kick on Lita, but the redhead dodged it and used Alicia's momentum against her, sending her crashing out of the ring.
"Ha ha! I win! I'm the godmother!" exclaimed the werewolf as she jumped around in the ring.
"Damn I was so close . . ." mumbled Alicia as Kofi helped her up. "But I'll get you next time Lita . . . I'll get you next time."
"Alright . . . it's our turn now laddies . . ." said Sheamus as he climbed into the ring. All the eligible boys, except for Edge, who was being represented by Nate, and Wade followed Sheamus into the ring. Once Randy noticed that the British werewolf wasn't going into the ring, he raised an eyebrow.
"You're not competing Wade?" asked the Viper as he finally decided to speak up about Wade's apparent lack of interest.
"I have my own reasons for not competing today lad . . ." answered Wade as he snuck a look at Monica, who was talking to her father. When Randy noticed the direction of his gaze, realization dawned on him before dropping the subject. When everyone was ready, Calypso banged on the bell once again, which helped to signal the start of the men's battle royal. Sheamus instantly went for Ted first, but Ted used the Irishman's own momentum against him and pulled the rope down, sending Sheamus out of the ring. Cody quickly eliminated Ted by throwing him out while his back was turned. During this time, John and Nate teamed up to eliminate the wily Kofi, and then Cody quickly teamed up with Nate to eliminate John from godfather contention, leaving the two of them as the only ones left in the ring.
"C'mon Nate, all you have to do is eliminate Cody and you'll have me as your nieces' godfather!" called Edge from the side of the ring. "Do you really want someone who adores looking at himself in a mirror as the godfather? No you don't!"
"Quit with the smack talk Edge!" yelled Cody as he dodged a clothesline attempt from Nate.
"You can't handle the smack talk!" exclaimed Edge as he shook his head. "How can you be a wrestler if you can't handle the smack talk from fans?"
"Shut up Edge!" exclaimed Cody as he turned to face him, but that was a fatal mistake as Nate hit him with a devastating roundhouse kick to the head. The younger Orton then picked up the fallen Dashing superstar and dropped him out of the ring, winning the title of godfather for Edge.
"You sir, have done well . . ." said Edge as he shook Nate's hand.
"There you have it you two . . . You have werewolves for godparents . . ." said Amanda as she looked down at the sleeping Gabriella. Randy could only shake his head in agreement as he looked down at Daniela, who was wide awake for the whole show.
"Now that the godparents have been decided, who wants lunch . . . I'm ordering pizza!" called Elaine as she waked over to the kitchen.
"Impromptu pizza party . . . nice," said Amanda as she let out a whistle. "Looks like I'm going to have put off my weight loss plans another day."
"But hey . . . even if you're carrying your baby weight or your back to your slim down shape, you're still beautiful nonetheless okay?" said Randy as he shook his head. Amanda could only shake her head in response, a smile dotting her face. "Good . . . now let's get to my mother before Nate does. If he takes charge of the ordering, there will be no stopping him."
"You're telling me . . ." said the Anaconda as rolled her eyes. "If we let Nate order, it won't be good for anyone."
"I heard that!" called Nate as he stepped out of the ring.
"You were supposed to . . ." said Amanda as she walked out the room. Randy let a small chuckle pass his lips as he followed the room, leaving Nate to shake his head as he was the last to leave.
