Chapter 18- Houses, birthdays and meals.
"Sirius this is absolutely perfect!" Olivia squealed as she ran around the empty apartment, that so far only contained a mattress, kettle, a few snack foods and a bit of cutlery, that had once belonged to Sirius' Uncle Alphard.
Sirius laughed and watched his happy girlfriend as she moved quickly around their new home and then caught her around the waist as she went past him.
"I'm glad you like it baby." He smiled and kissed her neck.
"I'm so excited, we're going to be living together, on our own. Obviously when we have our kids we'll need to get a bigger house..." She trailed off and then snapped her mouth shut.
Sirius looked at her confused "What's wrong?"
"I'm sorry, I didn't mean to get carried away, and I'm not expecting us to have kids right away or even ever if you don't want to." She told him nervously.
Sirius tilted her chin up to face him. "Don't panic about it Liv, I love that you want to have children and a family with me, I want exactly the same with you and I don't care when it happens." He smiled and kissed her head.
Olivia breathed out a sigh of relief and leant into his chest. "I'm so happy right now... I mean I'm sad to leave Potter Mansion but I just can't wait to properly start our lives together."
Sirius smiled at her and held her close "Me either, I feel like I've been waiting for this for a lifetime."
Olivia hugged him and ran her hands up and down his back and then ran her fingers through his hair, smiling when he buried his face in her neck.
They were broken apart by a knock on the door and smiled at each other before Sirius went and opened the door.
Olivia smiled as she head a cheery voice exchange pleasantries with her boyfriend and walked over, standing next to him and also smiled at the eighty-ish year old women who stood beaming at their front door.
"This is my girlfriend Olivia." He introduced her "Livie this is Josie, she lives next door."
"Hi Josie, it's nice to meet you." Olivia smiled glad they had at least one nice neighbour and wrapped her arms around Sirius' waist snuggling into his side and sighed happily when he wrapped his arms around her, pulling her close.
Josie beamed at them and smiled "Young Love." She gushed "I can tell just from meeting you that you're special to each other." She smiled.
Sirius smiled down at his girl "She's very special."
"As he is to me." Olivia leant up on tiptoes and placed a little kiss on the tip of his nose.
Josie smiled and held up a bouquet of flowers and in her other hand produced a basket full of homemade cookies that were still steaming.
Olivia smiled gratefully at her and took the flowers, bringing them to her nose and breathed deeply, taking in the smell.
"Thank you so much, they're beautiful." Olivia smiled.
"And these are immense!" Sirius groaned with a mouthful of the cookie that he had taken from Josie.
"I make them so anytime you want a snack let me know and I'll whip some up for you." She smiled and Olivia took a bite of the cookie herself and moaned
"Holy mother of God... These are heaven." She moaned again.
Josie looked please with herself and even blushed a little "Oh I also know that you're a wizard and a witch, so please don't worry about having to watch what you say in front of me."
"You're a witch?" Sirius asked.
"No dear, I'm a squib, but I knew your uncle and he told me he was writing you into his will, so if you chose to live here then I would be able to tell you I knew."
"Oh.. Okay, well that's pretty handy, thank you so much for the flowers and cookies." She smiled.
"No problem dears, anything you need just pop next door." She said and walked back into the door next to theirs.
Sirius closed the door and Olivia took another bite of the cookie in her hand, moaning at the amazing flavour.
Sirius put the basket of cookies down on the empty counter and turned to face her "I kinda feel like you're cheating on me with that cookie."
"I'm not going to lie to you baby, I think I am." She giggled finishing off her cookie.
Sirius slapped her ass as he walked past "Maybe I need to confiscate them, or I won't be responsible for my actions with you moaning like that."
Olivia grinned wickedly and took a bit of a fresh cookie, moaning on purpose and winked at him as she saw his eyes darken.
"Fine you want it that way." He said and took the cookie from her hand and threw it on the counter and then tossed her, squealing, over his shoulder, carrying her to their room to Christian their new mattress.
"James this is ridiculous!" Lily shouted in frustration as she paced around her boyfriends room, while he lay on his bed watching her.
James sighed and pushed up on his elbows "Lil babe, calm down okay, we're going to find a place we just need to wait, there's no point buying one for the sake of it, it needs to feel like home, not a convenience buy." He explained.
Lily hung her head and nodded "I know." She said as she dropped down onto the bed next to him, it's just everybody is settling down and starting their lives and I want the same with you."
James kissed her head and wrapped his arms around her. "I know baby, I want that too, it will happen soon I promise you." He smiled.
Lily kissed his cheek and laid her head back against his shoulder as he rocked her gently.
James looked up when someone knocked on the door, calling for them to come in, he smiled when his mother popped her head around the door.
"Dinners ready you two." She smiled taking in the scene before her, loving how happy all three of her children were."
"Thank you for letting me stay Emma." Lily smiled. The Potters as well as her parents had said that since her and James would be living on their own soon, Lily may as well have stayed at Potter manor until they moved out, otherwise it wouldn't have really been fair that they were apart while their other friends were already living together.
"Don't thank us Lily, you're a pleasure to have and you make my son happy, and that is all I can ask for as a mother." She smiled and went back down stairs.
They walked downstairs together hand in hand and sat down at the table with his parents, letting the small talk takeover.
"Did Olivia and Sirius get their Auror acceptance letter too?" Richard asked.
"Yeah, they got them yesterday, they were getting worried that mine had come the day before but it turns out the owl got confused because of them moving into the apartment but they're in for the training too."
Richard scoffed "Of course they're in, you think I'd let my other two children who have amazing potential, be written out from my department."
Emma rolled her eyes at her husband's forever cockiness then smiled lovingly at him as he winked at her.
"Lily I've managed to get you into my healing group." Emma smiled.
Lily's eyes widened "No way!" She gasped "Oh my god Emma, I'm so honoured!"
Emma laughed at the girl's enthusiasm "You should get your letter on Wednesday, but I didn't want you to wait while everyone else was finding out their results."
"I'm so proud of you babe! I knew you'd do it." James smiled and wrapped an arm around her, kissing her head and Lily blushed but leant into him still.
Emma and Richard sent smiles to each other across the table, remembering when it had been them that were young and in love. Of course they were still in love, even more so now, but knowing their son felt the way they did made them feel like the best parents in the world.
Remus sighed as he looked down at another rejection letter, the fourth this week, he knew job prospects when you were a werewolf weren't great, but he was never expecting this kind of prejudice.
He sighed and looked up when he heard then saw his beautiful girlfriend appear through the front door with a bagful of groceries.
"Hey." She smiled dropping a kiss to his lips.
"Hey." He said back wincing when he realised how defeated he sounder.
Amelia looked down at the letter he was holding and picked it up, reading it then rolled her eyes, ripped it up and threw it in the fire.
Remus hung his head still amazed that she was with him after all this time, he would never be able to provide for her if he wasn't earning any money and he point blank refused to live off any of the money she made with her new job as a journalist.
"Hey... stop that." She said and sat next to him on the couch, taking his hand.
"Stop what?" He asked looking up but not at her, instead focusing on the flames beside her head.
Amelia put her hand on his cheek and turned his head so she was looking into his eyes. "Stop thinking you're useless or a monster, or whatever horrible name you're using to describe yourself. You are my handsome werewolf boyfriend, the sweetest guy I've ever met. You'd never hurt me Remus, you would rather die first, you've told me this before. I trust you with my life." She whispered laying her forehead on hiss.
Remus closed his eyes taking in the words he so desperately needed to hear from her. He stroked her hair and breathed in her scent "I love you so much" He told her.
"I love you too Remus, always." She smiled "Screw what the job applications say, go out and find yourself a muggle job nobody needs to know...hell no-one would believe you even if you told them! You could be free of the prejudice and earn a living too." She smiled.
Remus beamed at her, he had completely overlooked the possibility of getting a muggle job...He didn't even care how little he was paid, it was better than nothing and would allow him to get his Amelia a beautiful engagement ring, because after everything she'd done for him and helped him through, he wanted to make her his for all eternity.
Olivia rolled over, keeping the sheet close to her chest and laid her head on Sirius' bare chest where they had been sleeping.
"Mornin'" He mumbled sleepily rubbing his hand up and down her bare back.
"Happy Birthday." She whispered kissing his chest.
Sirius opened one eye and looked down at her smiling "Thank you baby."
"Come on get up, I wanna give you your presents." She smiled excitedly.
Sirius raised his eyebrows "You mean all of last night wasn't my only present?" He winked.
Olivia giggled and kissed his neck "Nope, besides I think that I was treated last night too, so technically it wasn't just your present."
Sirius grinned and rolled over her "You know, I could just have you as my present again instead of the other things." He said kissing her neck.
Olivia bit her lip and smiled then pushed him off her, then grabbed his shirt from the floor from where she had torn it from him the night before and slipped it over her head.
Sirius watched her with his hands behind his head "I love seeing you in my shirt."
"Well I love seeing you without it so I guess that works out well." She winked.
Sirius groaned and got up pulling on his underwear and followed her to the living room in just his boxers.
She pushed him down on the settee "Close your eyes." She smiled.
Sirius smiled at her excitement and closed his eyes, listening as she wandered about the room and waited for her to come back.
Olivia came back in and straddled his lap, smiling as his hands went to her hips to steady and hold her close. She dropped the presents into the gap between their bodies.
"Happy birthday baby." She whispered and kissed his forehead.
Sirius opened his eyes and looked at the small pile of presents between them and smiled, but instead of diving straight in like Olivia thought he would, he leant forward kissing her gently.
"I love you." He told her stroking her cheek.
"I love you too." She smiled "but hurry up and open your presents." She giggled jumping up and down on his lap.
"Baby you keep moving like that and we won't be getting anything done today." He winked.
Olivia rolled her eyes and grabbed a present "You're in a naughty mood this morning... hurry up or I'll open them and keep them."
Sirius laughed and opened the present, raising an eyebrow "You would have kept these boxers?" He asked looking down at the cheeky underwear she'd got him.
Olivia shrugged "I wear your underwear to bed all the time."
Sirius' eyes widened "That's actually pretty hot."
Olivia laughed "Get your head out of the gutter Sirius, they're comfortable that's all."
Sirius carried on opening the little presents she'd got him, including a prank set, muggle movies they both liked and Bon Jovi record and a lot of chocolate.
"Oh and we're going out for dinner later, five star, private seating." She winked.
"How an earth did you pay for that." Sirius asked her shocked.
Olivia laughed "Having a rich family comes in handy sometimes."
Lily stood outside the restaurant that Olivia had told them to be at by 7:00pm. Them being her, James, Frank, Alice, Remus, Amelia, Emma and Richard.
Lily blushed when James' arm slipped around her waist stroking the bit of exposed skin on the side, where her dress cut-out.
"Behave, your parents are right over there and we're in public." She whispered to him.
"Well if you stopped being so damn sexy I'd not be as tempted." He whispered back to her.
Lily rolled her eyes and pushed him away, smiling as he winked at her, then smiled again when she saw Olivia and Sirius walking hand in hand over to them.
Olivia grinned up at her boyfriend, who hadn't known she'd invited all their friends, "Surprise!" She giggled.
Sirius laughed and hugged her close "Again, thank you baby, nest birthday ever."
Emma wrapped Sirius and Olivia in a big hug "I've missed you two so much! The house is too quiet without you." She smiled tearfully "Happy Birthday darling." She said kissing Sirius' cheek.
"Thank you." He smiled and kissed her head then ran his hand subtly down Olivia's side, to her thigh and played with the hem of her sexy dress, pulling it up slightly.
Olivia rolled her eyes and smacked his hand away "Bloody hell, keep it in your pants babe."
Sirius smirked at her and wrapped his arms around her waist from behind. "I'm not the only one." He whispered and nodded his head towards their group where Remus was whispering into Amelia's ear, making her blushed, Frank was kissing Alice's neck and James was still stroking Lily's exposed skin.
Olivia snorted "We fell in love with a bunch of horny bastards." She told the girls making them laugh.
James groaned "Well if you don't appreciate it then we should go inside and get food, food will appreciate it."
Lily laughed and steered James towards the restaurant. "Come on let's get you fed." She smiled.
"To Sirius." Olivia smiled holding up her glass of wine.
"To Sirius." The rest of the table chorused.
Sirius smiled and leant down kissing Olivia gently on the lips. "Thank you baby." He whispered.
Olivia smiled "You deserve it." She said stroking his cheek and then turned back to the table, eating her pasta.
"So Frank, Alice how was Cornwall?" Lily asked referring to the weeklong trip that they had gone on with both of their parents.
Frank smiled smugly and Alice blushed crazily, causing their friends to look at them with raised brows and cocked heads.
"Ladies and Gentlemen, I would like to introduce you to my beautiful wife." He said and kissed her hand as gasps rang out across the table.
"You didn't!" Amelia cried out.
Alice smiled shyly and nodded creating happy squeals from the girls around the table and the scrapes of chairs as they got up to hug Alice.
"I can't believe you got married in secret!" Lily smiled admiring the simple wedding ring that sat on Alice's finger with her beautiful engagement ring.
"We saw this beautiful little chapel, right next to the beach and just looked at each other and knew that was what we wanted to do, we had our parents as witnessed and it was perfect." She sighed dreamily.
"Alice I'm so happy for you! But if you didn't get a picture of your dress I'm going to cut you." Olivia threatened smiling.
Alice smiled and brought out a freshly printed picture of her and Frank standing outside the little chapel, arms around each other's waist while they stared into each other's eyes.
Her dress was simple but beautiful, it was short at the front with a beaded bodice, but the back flowed down into a lacy train that lightly touched the floor. Her pixie like hair had been pinned up on one side with a beautiful flower and sequin clip.
Amelia covered her mouth with her hand "You look gorgeous Alice!" She whispered.
"Thank you." She hugged her with tears in her eyes.
Across the table Olivia saw Frank get wolf whistles and manly back slaps, the more manly way to say congratulations.
"This is so crazy! You're married! You have a husband!" Lily giggled.
"Tell me about it, it feels like only yesterday that I met him." She smiled and squealed "I'm so happy!"
The girls all wrapped their arms around each other and Olivia grinned wickedly causing the others to groan.
"I know that face. Nothing good ever comes from it." Lily groaned but Olivia ignored her.
"You know what this means don't you? She raised her eyebrows "You get a belated hen night." She whooped.
The guys looked over and watched amused as Olivia jumped up and down excitedly, seemingly forgetting that she was in the middle of a restaurant.
"What is she doing?" James asked shaking his head.
"From what I just heard I believe she's going to give Alice a late hen night." Remus laughed.
"Well that will be interesting, we all know Shadow can throw a damn good party." Frank smiled and then walked back over to the girls, the others following.
"Are we all done here?" Richard asked and they all nodded leaving the restaurant, seen as how Olivia had already paid.
Sirius wrapped his arm around Olivia's shoulders as she shivered "Cold baby?" he asked.
Olivia shrugged but cuddled in any way as they walked in a big group "I'm so happy right now, that I'm kinda numb with it." She laughed happily.
Sirius smiled "I'm glad you're finally happy."
Olivia turned to face him and wrapped her arms around his neck, pulling herself up so her legs were around his waist and smiled as his arms supported her.
"I've been unimaginably happy since the day I met you add even happier when you told me you loved me, then kissed me for the first time." She told him.
"Me too baby." He told her, kissing her with everything he had.
"I've got one more present for you, but you'll have to wait till we get home." Olivia told him as she climbed back down to the floor.
"Another one!?" He asked shocked.
"Yep, but I think that you'll definitely need to unwrap it in private, I doubt you would want anyone else to see it." She whispered then winked as she fiddled with the edge of her dress.
Sirius finally caught onto what she was saying and pulled her close again "I definitely think it will be the best present of the night." He whispered against her neck and she giggled then turned quickly as she heard Emma gasp.
"Oh my God!"
James held Lily's hand as they walked at the back of the group and then took a deep breath as he gently pulled her to a stop.
She looked up at him curiously and smiled "Are you okay?" She asked.
James lost all of the words that he planned to say as his mind went blank, all he could think about was wanting to make this girl his forever.
"I love you." He managed to get out on a strangled gasp.
She smiled sweetly and it once again took his breath away "I love you too James." She said and kissed his cheek, then went to carry on walking, but kept hold of her hand and dropped to one knee before she could go.
Lily looked down at him shocked and then realisation crossed her eyes and she gasped, putting her hand over her mouth. From the distance he could hear his mother say "Oh my God!" So he knew they were all watching.
"Lil I love you and I don't want you to think I'm doing this just because Frank and Alice got married, I've had this ring since Christmas I didn't want to give it to you then, because I thought it was too soon and you would reject me. But now I know you love me as much as I love you." He paused to take a breath and brought out the beautiful ring encrusted with two small emeralds on each side of a bigger diamond.
"James." Lily gasped her hand now over her heart.
"So Lily Evans will you do me the greatest honour of becoming my wife?" He asked, looking into her eyes.
"Yes James." She whispered and dropped to her knees in front of him, wrapping her arms around his neck "Yes."
James sighed in relief and wrapped her in his arms, burying his face in her neck. "You said yes." He whispered shocked.
Lily pulled back and looked into his eyes and placed her hands on his cheeks "Of course I did James, I love you so much. I can't wait to be Mrs. James Potter." She smiled shyly.
"I've already asked your father." James smiled stroking her hair.
"What!? When?!" She asked.
"I met with him for a beer and asked him then."
"He better have been nice to you." She laughed knowing how protective her father was.
"Oh he still gave me the 'hurt my baby girl and I'll kill you in the most painful way' speech but I've assured him that's the last thing I would ever do." James told her and then looked over her shoulder.
"Brace yourself." He told her and smiled when she was pulled off her feet and into a pile of excitedly squealing girls.
"You're getting married!" Amelia said crushing her in a hug.
Olivia gave her best friend a hug and then jumped on James' back hugging him tightly "Way to go Jamey boy." She teased.
"Thank you." He said on a sigh of relief.
Sirius came over and shook his brother's hand, pulling him into a hug. "This is some night." He smiled.
James nodded and looked over at his parents who had congratulated him and saw his mum in his dad's arms as she cried happy tears. "We're all growing up."
Sirius snorted "As if... We'll all be young forever."
James rolled his eyes "Yeah who am I kidding. So when are you going to ask the big question?" He asked and Sirius smiled looking at his girlfriend who was spinning in circles with Lily as they held hands.
"Soon."
