So, here's the last Chapter of Lovely Darkness.
Centuries- FOB is on repeat and it's 10:30pm and I'm visiting my family in QLD so! Enjoy my little mofos!
"Jace! Where's Elijah!" Clary called to her husband.
Jace appeared beside her holding their 3 year old girl, Luna.
"I saw him outside last." Jace said, kissing the top of his wife's head.
She leaned against his shoulder for a second, tickling Luna's small foot making her giggle a cute baby giggle. She had white hair. The doctors said it was a harmless genetic mutation she was born with. White hair, very pale gold eyebrows and eyelashes and a mix of gold and emerald eyes. She had been born on a full moon at exactly midnight. Jace had insisted on the name because of when she was born and her white hair, Clary had caved.
"I'll go get the little rascal." Clary said, kissing her husbands cheek.
She pushed open the large glass sliding door and made her way down the path. As she expected he was standing in front of the stables, laughing as the horses all bent down to sniff him. Aussie was laying in the sand arena, covering himself in sand.
"Eli!" Clary called.
Her 6 year old turned around and giggled at her, starting to run away.
"Oh, Eli! Come back here!" Clary said, running after him.
He ran into the tack shed and Clary followed quickly behind but he had disappeared.
"Elijah, we have to go. Your two sisters are ready and you're a mess now. Come out." Clary called, looking under saddle racks and in feed bins.
She finally found him behind the hay and pulled him out.
"You're getting tall." She said, holding his hand and pulling him back to the house.
"I'm gonna be big like daddy." He said, grinning.
"Well you sure have your fathers grin." Clary muttered.
Clary brushed out her sons mop of golden hair as his golden eyes flecked with emerald, skittered around the room. He was always a bundle of energy.
"Go to the car. Dad's down there." Clary said, kissing his head.
Elijah ran off disappearing out side.
"Alexis!" Clary called, heading for her daughters bedroom.
"Mummy! Are we going! I wanna see aunty Izzy and Emma!" Alexis said, running down the hall towards her mothers.
"Yes, you'll see them as well as your cousins. Interact with them this time." Clary said, grabbing her daughters hand.
Lexi was 5, only 1 year apart from Elijah. Her hair was short and curly but a strawberry blond, her eyes mostly emerald with flecks of gold in them.
Many screaming children minutes later Clary and Jace had their children strapped into the car. Clary collapsed into the passenger seat.
"You alright, Angel?" Jace asked, sliding into the drivers seat.
"Just exhausted." Clary said, sliding her eyes to Jace's golden ones.
He chuckled and leant over kissing his wife softly. Clary still hadn't gotten sick of his kisses, she knew she never would. They made her feel warm and safe.
"Gross!" Elijah yelled from the backseat.
"Cooties!" Lexi yelled.
Clary laughed and leaned her forehead against her husbands.
"I love you, Angel." Jace whispered.
"I love you too." She whispered.
*11 years later*
"Breakfast!" Clary called, placing a heinous amount of pancakes on a plate.
Luna was the first to appear. She was 14, her white hair was straight and flowed down to her waist. The years that she had grown and asked constantly why she had hair as white as snow, they had finally told her she had what the doctors called a genetic mutation. Luna had processed it quietly, then smiled and said, 'it is not a mutation. It is my birthmark. I was born under the full moon and granted hair as white as snow.'
She was short like Clary, her gold-emerald eyes still huge. She wore a long, flowy blue dress with a brown belt around her waist, holding a bag full of books. She looked like an Angel, sent down to keep peace in the Herondale household. Luna had always been the more relaxed child, a complete bookworm and inheriting Clary's artistic skills.
"Mom, can we stop by the bookstore on the way home?" Luna asked.
"You've already used your book allowance from me." Clary said as her daughter took a few pancakes.
"Dad gave me some money for cleaning out the stables last week." Luna said, smiling sweetly.
"Then, yes." Clary said, sighing at her husband.
"Hey, Aussie." Luna said, patting the old dogs head as he wandered up.
Jace appeared, "children! Breakfast is ready for the last time!" He yelled down the hall to their children's bedrooms.
Lexi was the next to appear. She was 16 and tall. Her strawberry blond-dyed black hair was long with soft curls and one of those ragged looking fringes. Her emerald eyes were hidden behind heavy eyeliner. She wore her usual black clothing with deathmetal band logos on her shirt. A mere 6 months ago she used to be a lot different, actually wearing coloured clothes, but she was a teenager. She had skills on both guitar and piano and still used her artistic skills but the draw mostly disturbing pictures
Jace rolled his eyes at his daughter, "so dramatic." He mumbled to his wife.
Clary hit him on the arm, "I wonder where she got it from." She teased.
"Mom I'm a vegetarian now." Lexi said, sitting down on a kitchen stool.
Luna gave her sister an incredulous look and continued eating.
"Oh, really?" Clary asked, raising her eyebrows.
"Yes. Really." Lexi said in that bored and uninterested tone.
Jace started hitting his head on the kitchen cupboard, over and over again. Lexi was always doing stuff like this and Clary could always see Jace's frustration, this time he was showing it.
Luna giggled at her father and Lexi shot her a look of annoyance.
"Oh right, emos don't laugh, do they?" Luna said to her sister.
Lexi growled at her sister.
"Both of you, stop!" Clary said, sighing.
"The peacemaker is here!" A males voice boomed.
Elijah waltzed up and sat in between the girls, grinning and grabbing pancakes. Now Clary felt like hitting her head against a cupboard, Elijah was so like his father it hurt her head sometimes. He was tall and slender and muscular like his father. With the same golden hair and with the same golden eyes and he was extremely handsome, cocky, arrogant and self absorbed. And of course, as talented on the piano as his father was, he had even inherited Clary's artistic skills which made her happy.
Lexi scowled at her brother while Luna smiled and continued eating.
"Since you're a vegetarian now, Lexi, what are you going to eat for dinner?" Jace questioned, opening the fridge.
Elijah scoffed, "Lexi, a vegetarian? Are you shitting me?" He said with a mouth full of food.
"Eli! Don't talk with a mouth full!" Clary said, smacking her son on his head.
He grinned at her with a mouth full of food still and Jace chuckled. She shot her husband a look and he grinned back, munching on a pancake. Elijah's phone started ringing and he jumped up from the counter almost immediately, smiling.
"Rorie!" Eli said happily.
Everyone rolled their eyes.
"Love makes me sick." Lexi groaned.
Eli scowled at his sister and continued talking to his friend. Aurora had been his best friend since kindergarten. Eli called her Rorie and damn near rips anyone else's head off who tries to call her that. She's a sweet girl. Small and delicate looking with her long blond hair and pale, porcelain perfect skin.
"They're not dating." Luna said, imitating what her brother would usually say.
Lexi scoffed, "isn't that how mom and dad's love story started?"
Clary chocked on her drink and Jace started cracking up.
"So long as he doesn't get her pregnant at the age of 21, he can have the time of his life." Jace said, patting his wife of the back.
"Dad!" Luna exclaimed.
"Jace!" Clary exclaimed at the same time.
He shrugged, "what? I'm kind of regretting this whole kid thing." He teased.
Lexi muttered something under her breath while Luna smiled sweetly.
Clary chuckled and leaned into her husbands warm, hard, strong chest. He smelt sweetly of horse and Jace. His arms encircled her waist and held her tight.
"Angel-"
"Oh, god! Still with the pet names! You're not lovesick 17 year olds!" Lexi exclaimed, glaring at her parents.
"Oh shut up, Lexi. It's cute. I want a marriage like theirs when I grow up." Luna said, smiling sweetly.
"Your sweetness sickens me. I'll be waiting in the car...trying not to roll it off a cliff." Lexi said, stomping past her brother who was still on the phone and out the large front door.
Clary sighed and pulled away from her husband, but he pulled her back and planted a soft kiss on her lips making her legs melt underneath her.
"Mom and dad are at it again." She heard Eli mumble.
But Clary didn't care, she still lived for Jace's kisses, wrapping her arms around his neck, rising herself onto her toes. Jace smiled against her lips, placing soft kisses on her nose and eye lids.
"We better go or I think Lexi'll start the car and drive off without us." Jace whispered.
Clary sighed and opened her eyes to find Eli and Luna had left them.
"Okay. But we're continuing that tonight." Clary said, smirking at her husband.
Jace growled and slapped her butt, "count on it."
Clary giggled and grabbed her handbag.
"Now I don't want to be in here for hours like last time. All we need to do is grab school supplies, it's not an hours long trip. Jace and Eli behave yourselves. Lexi, don't slit anyone's throat. And Luna...don't get caught up reading." Clary said.
Everyone piled out of the car.
Jace and Eli grabbed the trolley as soon as they entered the huge shop. Eli jumped on the front as Jace ran down aisles and spun in circles.
Clary groaned, "why?"
Luna laughed, "your husband." She teased.
"Your father." Clary pointed out.
Luna grunted and giggled. Lexi seemed totally unimpressed, typing on her phone.
Clary finally got ahold of the trolley and banished both Jace and Eli from touching it again. They went to run away and disappear but Clary stopped them.
"Don't even think about if. You're staying with us. Now focus!" Clary said, hitting them both on the side of their heads.
They both groaned and sulked beside her. Soon enough they became interested in sword fighting with metre long rulers.
"I can't win." She muttered.
Luna and Clary were the only ones actually doing anything, grabbing the things they needed as Lexi was too preoccupied with her phone. Jace and Eli started pelting erasers at each other and one hit the back of Clary's head.
"Seven hells! Stop it, the both of you!" She yelled at both of them, turning to look at them.
They both slunk back and Jace slunk up to his wife's side, grinning at her.
"You're impossible." She said laughing and shaking her head.
"Clary!" Jace said, grabbing the trolley just as she ran it into a guy.
"Oh, fuck!" Clary exclaimed.
Lexi cackled behind her and Luna giggled while Eli snorted.
"You three are really unhelpful children." Jace muttered but he snorted as well.
"Are you okay?" Clary asked the guy as he turned to her.
All sympathy left Clary's face as it hardened and she stood up straighter. Jace stiffened beside her, and she could practically sense the growl in the back of his throat. The three kids quietened down as soon as they sensed their parents drastic shift in moods. Eli came up beside his mother, clasping her hand.
"You okay, mom?" Eli asked.
Clary looked up at her son, he was nearly as tall as Jace and gave him a sweet smile before turning back to the man in front of them.
"Oh. Clary. Jace." The man said, his face falling.
It was Sebastian. He'd grown only a little taller and muscular but Jace could beat him in a fight any day. His white hair was cut short, his black eyes weary.
"Sebastian." Jace growled.
Eli stiffened beside his mother. They'd told their children about Sebastian as a type of warning of how cruel high school could be. Lexi all of a sudden appeared at her mothers other side, looking as fierce as ever.
"Do you revoke my term that I can't slit someone's throat?" Lexi asked, reaching for her back pocket.
"You remind me too much of Emma sometimes, Lex." Clary said rolling her eyes.
Sebastian looked highly alarmed like he was facing a pack of animals. He relaxed a little at the sight of Luna, the softest, sweetest looking of them all. Luna walked up the Sebastian and stood in front of him.
She smiled sweetly, "you must be, Sebastian." She said in her soft voice, holding out her hand.
Clary could feel that Eli and Jace were about to lunge forward but Clary held them back.
Sebastian wearily took her hand. Luna's smile stayed on her lips as she spoke.
"The dickhead that tried to ruin parents. It really is a fucking pleasure." Luna said before nailing Sebastian right between his legs with her knee.
Clary was too shocked and proud to up her daughter for her language. Sebastian fell to the ground and Luna let go of his hand and walked back to her family, her light blue dress flowing around her.
Jace laughed, "that's my girl!" He said, sweeping her up in his arms and hugging her.
"Have to put those free defence classes to use sometime." Luna said, smiling.
Lexi was actually smiling, "that was actually pretty fucking awesome."
"I agree 100%." Eli said, laughing.
"Lexi! Language!" Clary said.
"Hey, she said it first and she's 3 years younger." Lexi said, shrugging.
Clary laughed and shook her head, "Come on, kids. Let's go." Clary said, turning around with her trolley, leaving Sebastian groaning on the floor.
Clary found her husband in the piano room. He sat on the stool in front of his piano, running his fingers softly over the keys. Clary walked over to him and sat next to him.
The photo of the day that Jace proposed was sitting beside his sheet music, making her smile.
"Angel." He said, smiling and kissing her forehead.
She lent her head on his shoulder and greeted his warmth.
"Where are the kids?" Jace asked.
"Eli is out with Aurora." Clary said.
Jace chuckled, "of course."
"Luna went over to Jacobs." She said.
Jace grunted, "I don't like her going over there for the night."
"He's sweet and harmless. They're 14. He calls her his moon goddess, it's really quite sweet. His kind of like Simon was." Clary said, smiling softly.
Jace made another grunting sound.
"And Lexi's off at one of her demonic, satan worshipping rituals." Clary joked.
Jace chuckled, "oh, she frightens me sometimes." He said.
Clary kept her head on Jace's shoulder as they sat there in peace and quiet. None of Eli's video games or he and Aurora laughing. None of Lexis heavy metal music wafting through the house. No Luna in the library, the soft sound of her turning a page or on the phone to Jacob.
"Play something for me." She whispered.
Jace smiled down at his wife before placing his long slender fingers on the keys. Clary closed her eyes as the sweet music danced through her ears. Jace swayed softly beside her, his eyes closed and lips parted.
As Clary looked as him she noticed he hardly looked a day older then the day they met. His soft golden locks and bright golden eyes so full of life, love, desire and safety. His honey-golden skin still soft and smooth, only a few creases on his beautiful face. Clary could still hardly believe someone so wonderful had fallen in love with her.
Clary hadn't noticed he'd finished playing until he spoke.
"You alright, Angel?" He whispered.
"Our whole lives changed when we met each other." She whispered.
Jace smiled softly, "and I don't regret one second."
"Don't you wonder how different our lives would be if we didn't? I would probably still be with Sebastian even if he did end up getting away with-well you know. My father wouldn't be in jail. I probably wouldn't have a good relationship with Jon. I probably wouldn't have Izzy, Emma, Simon, Jules, Alec or Magnus-"
"Angel. Stop." Jace whispered.
She looked up into his eyes, the only eyes she's ever loved and will die loving.
"I don't ponder on those things because, I did meet you. I have you right by my side. I married you. I had 3 beautiful children with you. I'll have grandchildren one day. And I'll grow old and die loving you more and more each day then the day I met you." Jace whispered, kissing her lips softly.
Nothing had ever felt so perfect. Clary had never felt so safe. Never felt so happy. Never felt so loved.
"I love you and I will love you until I die, and if there is a life after that, I'll love you then."
So...there you go.
