Bellatrix felt slightly conflicted over spying on those who she had known practically from birth. It was different from telling Tom what Dumbledore was up to or which blood traitors were siding with the old man or which ones were just staying neutral.

If someone close to her family or even a member of her family itself was having doubts about siding with Tom she would have to tell him and Bellatrix knew that what Tom would do to them wouldn't be a pretty sight.

The conflicting thing about the whole situation was that Bellatrix didn't want to do it and she didn't want to let Tom down either, but as usual her loyalty to Tom won out.

The only thing that made spying on those around her easier was that she was ninety nine percent sure that they were loyal to Tom and everything he stood for.

When Bellatrix lay in bed at night she wondered if all of it was a test from Tom to see whether he really could trust her. A part of her felt a bit insulted that if it was test that Tom felt the need to see whether he could trust her or not and another part argued that she had felt conflicted and had to talk herself into so Tom doubts wouldn't be completely unfounded.

Bellatrix often had those type of arguments with herself and unlike the arguments she had with other people she could never manage to convince herself she was right.

When Bellatrix wasn't arguing with herself or struggling with having to spy on those around her, she was studying harder than ever before.

The more Bellatrix learnt the more powerful she felt. That feeling of power reminded her of the feeling she got whenever she was in the same room as Tom, Safe and strong.
