Edward and Roy walked in to a thundering applause. Laughing, Ed kept his grin plastered on his face—not that it was hard, considering how overwhelmingly perfect everything was—for the flashing cameras, but allowed his eyes to roam the room. It really was…stunning. Lights glittered on the ceiling, reflecting off of the glimmering blue floor. White tables lined the edges of the room, with centerpieces similar to Edward's bouquet, and the middle of the room was left open for dancing.
"Ladies and gentlemen," the DJ's voice announced from the back of the room, "thank you for your warm welcome to the grooms! Congrats, guys! Now, if everyone could make their way to the tables and be seated, we'll warm things up with the first dance before dinner."
Ed trembled, torn between extreme happiness and devastating nerves. Of course, they'd been preparing for this with all the dance lessons, but still. There were a lot of people watching this time.
Hand in hand, he and Roy stepped out into the middle of the dance floor, assuming their positions (traditional, with Roy's hand on Edward's waist and his on the man's shoulder, their other hands clasped together) as the room grew quiet. The music began, and Ed let out a tiny, anxious laugh. "All I Want" wasn't exactly a typical choice, but he and Roy liked it and that was, really, all that mattered. Besides, it was exciting, but still slow enough. They began to spin in lazy circles, Edward counting in his head in time with the beat.
What I leave,
When you go
What I see
And what you show
And what I guess
And when I don't
It's something you already, already know…
Grinning, relaxing into the music, Ed had to admit he was being kind of stupid. All that practice fighting for the military had made it much easier for him to control his body, so dancing, really, wasn't that hard. And it was so easy to ignore the crowd of people watching them, with Roy so close and staring at him like that.
I can't live without
All I think about
All I want is you
You're all I dream about
I can't live without
All I want is you
That was why they had picked this song; for the chorus. It was just so sweet, and so incredibly accurate. In the twinkling light from above, Ed spotted tears in Roy's eyes and immediately had to fight his own from shedding. It really was kind of crazy to think about…everything in the world had aligned just so that Edward could meet Roy, and then so they could fall in love. It was nothing short of a miracle.
The things I do
What I go through
And all I say
When I'm away
And what I make
The shit I take
Is something you already, already know…
Another giggle escaped him as Edward sensed the surprised murmurs of the audience. Oddly enough, that was another verse he liked. No relationship was perfect all the time, so why pretend? The whole point was that even with all the crappy fights and nonsense like that, it was all worth it because at the end of the day you were in love.
The chorus repeated itself, and Edward felt nerves tingling in his stomach again. The complicated part was coming up, now. Well, not complicated, but…balance oriented.
You're all I dream about
I can't live without
All I want is you…
Ed held his breath as Roy pressed forward, forcing Edward to bend backwards. Really, this was the fun, show off-y bit where Ed proved how flexible he was, managing to not fall even though he was past parallel with the ground. Still, it was an effort, even with Roy's assisting hand on the small of his back, and Edward was relieved when they resumed an upright position for the last round of the chorus.
I can't live without
All I think about
All I want is you
You're all I dream about
I can't live without
All I want is you
Loud applause and wolf-whistles filled the room as the music faded. Panting, Ed grinning victoriously, standing on his toes to grab a quick kiss before they exited the dance floor and made their way over to their table.
On Edward's right sat Alphonse, who smiled and clapped him on the back. "Nice one, Brother." Beside Al sat Winry and Granny, who also beamed and sent congratulations his way. Roy was, of course, on Ed's other side, and beside him were Gracia and Elicia, followed by Madame Christmas and then the team, Havoc, Breda, Hawkeye, Falman, and Fuery all in quick succession. Just as the couple sat down, a waiter came up to them, offering glasses of champagne. Edward reached for one, and Roy raised his eyebrow.
"You really think someone as naturally hyper as you needs to be drinking?
Ed stuck his tongue out at the man. "Hush up. I just got married, I'm going to celebrate. Besides, one glass isn't going to do anything serious. I won't embarrass you…anymore than normal, anyway."
Laughing, Roy let him go and Edward took a sip. Mmm. The taste was average, honestly, but the bubbling effect was quite pleasant. He giggled, which had Al elbowing him in the ribs. "Really, Brother? Show some dignity."
"Al, come on, you know I was born without that," Edward teased. "Besides, it sounds boring. Why would I want a silly thing like dignity when I can be an idiot instead?"
Alphonse shook his head, grinning as he turned to another waiter, there to take their orders. Ed didn't have to glance at the menu—considering he had approved it—and asked for the steak, while Roy decided on the grilled chicken.
It didn't take long for the food to come out, and when it did it was good. Like, really good. But Edward couldn't concentrate on it much at all, because, honestly, he was pretty damn immature and was more excited for the cake than anything.
Speaking of which…
Ed turned his chair slightly so he could get a glance at the cake, standing unobtrusive in a corner. It was traditionally tiered, but had sweeping arches of silvery, edible glitter bouncing down and bursting into sapphire stars that surrounded the main body of the cake. It would almost be a shame to eat it…almost.
Finally, finally dinner was cleared away, and Edward and Roy made their way over to the cake, the former almost skipping there. Roy came to stand behind him, wrapping his arms around Ed as together, they cut out the first slice. The inside was a beautiful, crisp white…and delicious, more importantly. Again, camera after camera (both professional and those of the guests) went off as Roy and Ed linked their arms, pushing forkfuls of the cake into each other's mouths. Damn that stuff was good! Edward could hardly wait before they got back to the table to snag another forkful. And another. And another.
"Don't eat too much, Ed," Gracia advised. "You don't want to be too full to dance. I remember at my wedding, I was out of commission for a solid hour of dance time because the food was so good."
Vaguely alarmed at the idea of not being able to enjoy the killer playlist he had put together, Edward nodded, and made the next bite of cake his last. After all, there were bound to be leftovers…Ed could eat those before their flight tomorrow afternoon.
Satisfied, Edward leaned against Roy as, from the middle of the floor, Alphonse called for attention as he prepared to make his speech. "Hello, everyone, can I have your attention? Thanks."
He paused, shaking his head. "I can't believe my brother is trusting me to get up here with a microphone. Namely because his relationship with Roy has been, for me, nothing short of terrifying."
Everyone in the room laughed at that, and Ed couldn't resist yelling out, "You're welcome!"
Rolling his eyes, Al continued. "Anyone who has been around these two for a while since they got together knows what I'm talking about. They're constantly together—and not just together, but always touching, even in little ways. Ed and Roy are the classic example of a couple showing way too much public affection. And that drives me up a wall. Trust me, it's not fun to walk in on your brother. But…despite all the emotional scarring I've suffered, I realized recently that the very things that annoy me the most are why these two are such a good couple. When Ed and Roy are together, they're off in their own little world, not oblivious to everyone around them, but occupying a happier state than most of us. They're content in the fact that they have a companion, and neither one is about to let common decency stop them from celebrating that. I guess that's cool…I guess." Again, laughter from the audience. "In all seriousness, it is. Because I can put up with their behavior so long as I know they're happy. So…congratulations, guys."
Ed clapped along with everyone else, chuckling as Al passed the mic off to Gracia. Poor Alphonse, so abused.
"Hello, everyone," Gracia began, smoothing her dress out. "And, obviously, congratulations to Roy and Ed. I almost feel bad coming up here, after Alphonse has made everyone laugh…I've got something a bit more serious to say."
Edward knew where this was going, and scooted his chair over so that he was pressed to Roy's side as Gracia went on. "I've known Ed for a while, now, and I've known Roy for much longer. I met both of them through my late husband, Maes. And now that I'm standing here, at their wedding, I feel like I'm not only speaking for myself, but for him as well. Personally, I was shocked when I heard that Roy and Ed were together, and even more so when I got the wedding announcement. But Maes…somehow, he knew. He had been betting on this for a long time." She paused, and turned to address Roy and Ed. "I know and care for both of you deeply, but Maes knew both of you better. It's a shame that he couldn't be here today to witness his best friend marrying someone he loves, to see how right he was…but I'm sure he's here in spirit. So, from the both of us, congratulations."
Eyes watering, Edward wiped at his face impatiently and turned to Roy, who had tears trailing down his cheeks. Worried, Ed pushed those away as well, only to have Roy catch his hand and kiss his palm. "It's okay, Ed. I'm alright. I miss him, but I'm alright."
Well, Roy could say that all he wanted, but nevertheless Edward kept a tight hold of his husband's hand, rubbing it lightly with his thumb as Granny Pinako stepped up.
"Edward always surprises me, and nine out of ten times I don't like it." The crowd, which had sobered up during Gracia's speech, let out a muted laugh. "When he and his brother became orphans, I could have adopted them. The process would have only taken a few months. But they chose to take their chances with the military rather than spend any time in an orphanage. I can't say I blame them, entirely, considering the state of those places…and the fact that the nearest one was in Central, anyway. But I wasn't happy about the decision, either. When Ed called me up and told me that he had found a boyfriend, I regret to say I wasn't overly excited. What can I say? I'm old. The idea of homosexuality is a rough one for me to get used to. Meeting Roy didn't actually make anything better—he's a snide little bastard. After a while, though, it came to make sense to me. They're both asses. I suppose that's why they fit together so well. So by the time I got the call, and Edward was shouting to me that they were getting married…that was a decision of his that surprised me in a positive way, for a change." The old woman grinned craftily. "Of course, that dress has made me think again, but all things considered, I guess I could have had a worse kid. Take care of him, Roy."
Smiling, now, Roy raised his glass as a promise, laughing at the pink flush on Ed's face. Granny just had to joke at him…that was Pinako, for you.
Last but not least, Madame Christmas walked up. It was almost comical to see such an…intense woman take the microphone from Granny Pinako's tiny form. She coughed, once, and started. "I've been trying for years to set my little Roy-Boy up with someone. In my line of work, I get a lot of girls in, always new faces, and I sent each and every one his way. Why not? I wanted him to get married, and I've been getting up there in years. Only now does it turn out I wasn't only sending the wrong people, but the wrong gender! You'd think he could have told me that he swung both ways. I had this conversation with him one day, and he explained it to me. Without his permission, I'd now like to pass on what I learned."
Raising his eyebrows, Edward glanced over at Roy to see what his reaction to that was. The man was shaking his head, but his smile hadn't faded, so he must be fine with everything. Curious, now, Ed directed his attention once more to Madam Christmas. "Roy-Boy told me that he was bisexual. Well, obviously. But as he described it, his spectrum was not fifty-fifty, but more ninety-ten. Ninety percent of the time, he was interested in girls. So, of course I had to ask him, why he involved with Edward if that was only ten percent of his preference. And he said the sweetest thing: 'Because Ed was the one who made me realize I had a ten percent at all.'
Edward froze, a smile slowly growing on his face. He looked to Roy again to see the man shrugging helplessly. "You never told me that," he accused.
"You never asked."
Rolling his eyes, Ed pressed a kiss to his husband's cheek, grinning the whole time. He turned Roy at least a little gay. How cute was that?
"Edward's a cheeky one," Madame Christmas went on, glancing their way. "But how could I not see that he was the right one for my Roy-Boy after a comment like that? Now I'm just glad they've made it official with each other. Congratulations to the both of you."
Ed had barely gotten the chance to clap once before Roy was pulling him up. He stood, grinning as music suddenly blasted through the speakers and almost everyone made their way to the dance floor. "Shall we?" his husband asked.
"Obviously!"
He had to laugh—cackle, really—at the thought of the playlist he had cooked up. Edward hadn't been one to avoid shirking decency, so some of the lyrics were a little…questionable. Amongst his favorite, dubious additions were "Freak" (Klass and Bodybangers), Bubblegum Bitch (Marina and the Diamonds), and "Candyland" (Blood on the Dance Floor). Of course, he had more normal songs as well, but it was the ones that would make Pinako frown that he was looking forward to.
At the moment, one of those was playing: "Bruises and Bitemarks" by Good with Grenades. Really, it wasn't that bad…and most importantly, it was exciting.
This kind of dancing was something Ed had never done with Roy. The opportunity had just never come up, and it was definitely thrilling to be jumping around, surrounded by an upbeat crowd, pressing against Roy in time with the beat.
Two single hearts on fire
Currently on the wire
As inhibitions fade
A focused moment made
Bruises and bitemarks say
It takes one to bring the pain
Passion lies in screams
Of ecstatic dreams
Having the dress was definitely a huge advantage while dancing. Sure, its length gave Ed some scares and he had to be careful to keep it pulled down far enough to cover his ass…but it was great in terms of teasing Roy.
You're in a place for fear
Lips are for biting here
Let's make this moment worth the while
Let's kill the night and go down in style
Feel the magic rise
We're plotting our demise
Of perspiration and alcohol
As I introduce the bedroom brawl
Edward squeaked as Roy copped a feel, hand cupping his ass only briefly. On the one hand, he had half a mind to chastise him…but on the other hand, with the music and his heart pounding, Ed wasn't at all opposed to the touch.
You bring the ropes and chains
I'll bring the pills and games
I can show you pain
And make you say my name
You will believe my lies
That I'm not like other guys
That sparkle in my eyes
Is just part of my disguise
As the chorus came around again and again, rounding off the song, Ed gave in just a little and pulled Roy to him roughly, kissing his new husband with a hungry smile. A few people immediately surrounding them wolf whistled, but Edward ignored them, concentrating instead on Roy's fingers again creeping just a little too low.
The song was over, but the music just kept going. One dance blended into the next, on and on and on until Ed had to submit to his growing exhaustion and slip away from the crowd, a grinning, panting Roy following him as he walked over to the bar.
They sat down, Roy dragging Ed in for another breathless kiss and scooting his stool close so that their thighs pressed together. Edward looked at the little cocktail list propped up on the bar, giggling at what he saw. This had all been Roy—Ed didn't know enough about drinks to handle the bar—and the man had aided the barkeep in concocting some drinks tailored to the occasion. "I have no idea what to get," he admitted.
Rolling his eyes, Roy turned to the barman. "Two Shooting Stars, please."
Nodding, the man went to work, pouring and mixing and shaking…Edward was completely lost. But when two drinks, gradient blue and bubbling, were pushed towards them, he was perfectly eager to take a sip. When he did, he wasn't disappointed. The drink had a zingy, fruity taste followed by a slightly sour aftertaste that was anything but unpleasant.
"You like it?" Roy asked.
"Yeah!" Ed giggled. "If I knew anything about this stuff, I'd ask what's in it, but it's kind of pointless."
"So oblivious." Roy took another drink of his cocktail, humming appreciatively. "So, you having fun?"
"How could I not be?" Edward replied, beaming. "We just got married!"
"I know," his husband murmured, leaning in until their foreheads were pressed together. "I love you."
A quick kiss—but it wasn't enough. Setting down his drink, Ed hugged Roy tightly, smiling ever harder as the man embraced him as well. "I love you too."
"You know, it's almost midnight…so we don't have much longer before we get to leave…" Roy murmured, pulling lightly at the bottom of Edward's dress.
Ed shivered as the man's hand slipped up under the fabric to rest on his thigh. "Hey, behave. I told you, I have a surprise. You're going to ruin it for yourself if you keep this up."
"But I'm curious."
"And you can stay curious until we get to the hotel," Edward whispered back, leaning forward until their mouths were just so close and resting a hand on Roy's chest. "Right?"
"It's like you're trying to kill me here," Roy groaned.
"I'm pretty sure it's only two more songs. Then I'm all yours."
That being said, Edward pulled Roy away—if he only had two more songs, he was going to enjoy them, damn it!
Two songs went by incredibly quickly, possibly because at this point Ed was anticipating his ride to the hotel (and what would follow) more and more every second. As the last note of music faded, everyone cheered (half of them drunkenly) as Ed and Roy walked out. Those that still had their wits about them tossed glitter at the couple on their way. Yeah, it was a bitch to get out, but let's be real, it was also flipping gorgeous in the way it settled on his dress and even in his hair. Fuck cleaning it, Ed would probably keep it as it was.
They climbed in the limo and waited impatiently for the driver to start on his way. The second he was sure they wouldn't be interrupted, Edward jumped onto Roy's lap, straddling his new husband and pressing a passionate kiss to his lips.
"How long is it to the hotel?" he mumbled, pushing himself forward as Roy's arms locked around him.
"Too long."
"I'm serious."
"Maybe twenty minutes."
Ed whimpered at the thought of having to wait that long. He hadn't had Roy for two weeks! And as cool as he had tried to act through the night, those lovely, tight pants of Roy's were driving him absolutely up a wall. He ground down on the man beneath him, making Roy gasp at the contact. Even such a tiny touch was enough to make him feel warmth pooling in his nether regions. "Roy, we have to wait."
"I know," the man growled, biting at his neck and making his breath shudder. "Just be ready."
Those words were almost threatening the way Roy said them, and it was everything Ed could do to not start unbuckling Roy's pants then and there. They spent the whole, agonizing ride lip locked, desperately trying to contain themselves.
But the time the limousine stopped, Roy wasn't nearly as presentable as he should have been, with his tie partially loosened, hair askew in the loveliest way, and shirt wrinkled. Edward was hardly better off, and it was with some measure of embarrassment that he left the limo. At that point, Roy scooped him up—despite his protests—and walked into the hotel.
Thank goodness they had reserved their room early.
Almost running despite his burden, Roy made it to the room in record time, finagled the keycard into place, and kicked open the door.
Edward only got the barest glimpse of the room—pale green walls, a couch and TV off to the side, kitchenette, closed bathroom door, and plenty of windows—as he was flung onto the bed (large and wonderfully soft). Ed landed with a huff, propping himself up on his elbows as he watched Roy approach, heart hammering.
"Alright," his husband said, grinning as he loosened and stripped off his tie. "Let's get to it."
Just a note on the music...sorry if it is not to your taste/you haven't heard of any of it! I have a RoyEd playlist on my phone and it ranges from sad to pornographic and I was just kind of picking through the songs. Not all of them really even fit the pairing, but I heard them while reading RoyEd and so I associate the songs with them even if it doesn't make sense. Long story short, sorry if that part wasn't to your liking-feel free to imagine your song picks instead.
Otherwise, hope you guys like this one! Took a while to write hehe
