Silver's POV

Silver arrived at the site of the explosion. Sweet Apple Acres. The barn and farmhouse were totally destroyed. Police were arriving on the scene, and firefighters were desperately trying to put out the flames. She ran to one of the police officers. "I'm Silver Lookingglass, I'm a detective at the PPF. what happened here?" She said, hastily. "I don't know, miss. There was some kind of magical explosion and it engulfed the entire farmhouse and barn. Everyone inside died." Silver turned to look at the flames. "How many were inside?" She asked. "Three. We can't determine who, yet. Once they put out the flames we can tell." He said, shrugging. "THanks." She said. A few minutes later, the flames were out. And D.E. Tector had showed up. Silver was looking over the bodies when he muscled his way in front of her. "The eyes are gone. This is my killer, Lookingglass." He said. "Hey! Get away! I got here first!" She cried. "Oh, stop whining! This is my case." He said, and examined the body closer. "Young mare. Probably Applejack." He walked over to the next body, equally burned, but larger. "Big Macintosh, eyes also removed." He finally went to the last body, more shrivelled than the others. "Granny Smith. Eyes removed like the others." He said. "This is my killer's MO." He said, and walked away.

Silver was even more mad than before. She got here first and now he was taking her case! How did he even know it was the killer?! It could be a copycat! Explosions didn't fit his MO! She was so mad, she walked up to him. "Hey, Tector!" He turned around, and she punched him in the face. He shoved her over and tackled her. "The chief is gonna hear about this." He growled, his face close to hers. "Tector, you asked for it. You took my case." She spat back at him. "You're dedicated. You know I lied when I said you were the worst detective on the force, right?" He said, smirking. He was still holding her down. "Tector, stop hitting on me." She said, and tried to push him off. He snorted and got off her, walking away. She left. Walking the path back to her home, she came across a cabin. The door was closed, but she saw a figure lying in the kitchen. Oh no. It could be another victim! She opened the door and walked into the kitchen. A pale yellow pegasus with a pink mane lay on the floor. With her eyes removed. The killer had claimed four people that night.

Two Days Later

The chief had officially made Silver a partner on the case. She was the happiest she had ever been in her life. Except that she was working with Tector. He hadn't reported her hitting him, though. He had started acting nicer to her, also. He definitely had a crush on her. It was kind of endearing. The police had searched Shadow's house, but she hadn't revealed she knew who he was yet. She wanted to catch him on her own, and finally show everyone how great she was at her job. Shadow was an Alicorn. She assumed that he was darkly coloured due to his name. He was probably disguising his appearance some way because there weren't any alicorns that weren't royalty.

Shadow's POV

Shadow knew the police were investigating him. He was leaving a trail. But it was so close to Nightmare Moon returning. His love would return. He had moved to his backup house in Canterlot after the police searched his house in Ponyville. The house was 1000 years old and it showed. It had been renovated several times since he had last been there, but he still owned it. He stepped inside. It was well cleaned. He had snuck back to his house in Ponyville a two days earlier and taken the portrait of his true love, Luna. It hung proudly in his bedroom now. A fresh start was what he needed. He just needed to return to Ponyville and destroy all the evidence of his connection to Nightmare Moon. Once she returned the world would be plunged into beautiful darkness once again, and he would be reunited with her. For now he could only wait, cloaked in the illusion he had created of a normal earth pony. No one would suspect him until it was too late. His next target was the lead detective on his case: D.E. Tector. Then he would go after the newly appointed detective on his case, Silver Lookingglass. She was an interesting one. He would then have to destroy the evidence at the police station. That was the hardest part. He needed information on the police station. Perhaps he could get it from a source he could kill, later. Two birds with one stone…

Silver's POV

Where was she? It was dark, and there was a gag in her mouth. She had been at home that night and heard a strange noise. When she went downstairs, someone had knocked her out. Oh no. It had to be the killer. She was terrified. Where was she? Whatever she was in stopped. She was pulled out and magically carried somewhere. A blindfold was over her eyes. She was set down and tied to a chair, then the blindfold was removed. A handsome, dark alicorn with red eyes stood in front of her. "Hello, there." He said, menacingly. He was so… Attractive. But he was a sick criminal. And he had kidnapped her. Oh god, was he going to kill her? It didn't seem like it. He stepped towards her. He was dangerously close. "You are quite beautiful. Too bad I need to kill you. You just know too much." He sighed. "Please, don't. Please no!" She began to cry.

Shadow's POV

Shadow was torn apart inside. She was so beautiful. He had made her cry. What was he thinking? Kidnapping her, threatening to kill her. He wanted Luna back, and yet, he needed to stop his rampage. He had killed six people. It was too much. He had to stop. He looked at her, and was immediately reminded of her beauty. Her silver fur was so brilliant, even in the dark. "Don't be afraid. This is all a mistake. I'm not gonna hurt you." He whispered. She opened her eyes, her tears beginning to stop. "W-what? You…" She looked at him. He looked back. They drew closer, and their lips met. He pulled away, and untied her.

She stared at him. "Shadow, y-you… You kissed me…" She said, aghast. He turned away. "No, I can't be with you… Luna is… My one true love…" He began to cry. "Shadow, I don't know why you killed those people, but you had to have a reason. You can't stay hung up on Luna. She may come back but Celestia will just banish her again. Please, Shadow." She said. His tears stopped. "I… I need to wait for her. Before I decide. The police are still after me." She turned away. "They don't know who you are, and I can get them off your trail." She said. Was she really going to betray the police? For him?
