When Rin got home she saw her daughter standing at the door holding up her painting and this make Rin smile "Chiestuka, its very beautiful! How would you like it if we hung it up? I know how about you show mommy where we could put it!" This seemed to excite Chiestuka who ran quickly into the living room and seat up on the wall over their book shelves "Here!" Rin smiled and when over to the drawer that contained a hammer and nail, she returned to her daughter and tapped the nail into the wall. She then put the tools away and saw Chiestuka on her tippy toes desperately trying to reach, Rin smiled and grabbed her daughter's waist and heard a little squeal that quickly turned into a giggle. Rin smiled and held her up so she could place it on the nail easily, Chiestuka turned in her mommy's arms and hugged Rin around the neck "Thank you mommy. So you like it? You really like it?" Rin nodded smiling with so much joy and pride in her little daughter.
"You have real skills, you could be a painter when you grow up."
"Could I really?! I could be like mommy?!"
"I'm sure you'll be even better than mommy!"
"Really?" Rin smiled and sat her daughter down she walked into the kitchen and smiled cooking a dish she had learned from a cook book she bought a while ago, she was cooking steak. Turns out Chiestuka loved steak, she also cooked a few side dishes of vegetables to keep it a balanced meal. Chiestuka looked up at her mommy from the low eating table and smiled "So mommy what was all the noise?" Rin spoke softly and checked on the side dishes real quick before going back to the meat "Some people who helped mommy get from her home in the feudal era to here."
"Why did you leave your home mommy? Isn't that were daddy is?"
"I was very sick and it didn't look like I would get better, the medical treatments here work better than the ones where your daddy is."
"Oh, so why didn't you go back after you felt better?"
"Because it's dangerous back in the feudal era and it seems my sickness made me forget a lot about your daddy and some of my past. And since its dangerous there I would have to protect us, but normally daddies protect mommies and children."
"Oh, so then we can go back now and daddy will find us and protect us right?"
"It might take a while before we can find daddy or before daddy can find us. So I need to learn how to protect us, and one of the people who brought mommy here is a half demon who is good with a sword. If he teaches mommy how to protect us we can go back and be more safe, because then mommy will be strong like a daddy."
"Okay, so what are the people doing here?"
"Well one of them is Souta's sister, her name is Kagome and she is a priestess." Chiestuka walked out of the room and brought a small bag of blocks to the low eating table and scattered them to play with, she thought about what to build and decided on a palace. She focused on which blocks to use where and started to speak again "A priestess? What is that?"
Rin smiled and opened the fridge setting the milk on the counter before grabbing two glasses, and pouring some in each glass. She sat one glass next to Chiestuka and the other on her daughter's right, where she would sit. Chiestuka took notice of the glass and took a sip of milk before going back to her blocks. Rin decided to explain to her daughter what a priestess did and what she thought of them.
"So a priestess hunts and kills demons?"
"Yes, and you daddy is a demon and you are part demon too. So mommy doesn't like priestesses because they hurt demons, and humans were never nice to mommy. And your daddy I think was very nice to me, after all he gave me you. So mommy likes demons not humans."
"I don't like priestesses either, because they don't like me or daddy."
"You are very smart to think that way."
"Mommy! Look I made a palace!" Rin smiled at the blocks they were stacked in sections making a big rectangle shape and a few other blocks here and there for decoration "Very well done, now put them up please. The food will be ready shortly, so I want you to go wash your hands." Chiestuka smiled and gathered up as many as she could in her small hands which was about four or five at the most and then tossed them in the bag on the floor. After they were all in the bag she took the bag back to the living room closet and then went to the bathroom to wash her hands.
She smiled looking at herself in the mirror, she was wearing a white kimono with red and yellow butterflies all over it. Chiestuka's obi was black and she smiled an open toothy smile and noticed her fangs, as she noticed them she ran her little tongue over them testing their sharpness. Her hair was up in a pony tail with one long stand on each side of her face free and her little ears twitched on her head. She looked at her face and smiled she liked her markings she saw them as beautiful. After all no one else had them.
They ate lunch and after lunch while her mommy did the dishes Chiestuka pulled out a book that showed the alphabet and had lines where you would trace each character and then you would write one beside it. She liked impressing her mommy, and her mommy often would praise her for wanting and trying to learn to write. Her mommy knew how to read and write, and she said not many girls in the feudal era did. Chiestuka wanted to be one of those girls, she wanted to show her daddy she was smart and could do it.
Suddenly there was a knock Chiestuka looked in the direction of the door and saw her mother walking out of the kitchen to answer the door. She then stood up and realized she had to go to the bathroom, she quickly walked to the bathroom and sat on the toilet and hummed a little song to herself quietly. One song that she had sometimes heard her mother hum or sing.
Rin opened the door to see two people she had been expecting, Kagome seemed to have changed out of her priestess clothing and back into her modern clothing. She wore blue jeans and a pink sweater with yellow pat prints that went around her waist, Inuyasha however wore the only thing it seemed he ever wore. Rin noted that his nose seemed to twitch a lot and she snuck her way into his mind 'This scent is familiar but I can't place it.'
Kagome smiled as she took her shoes off and wandered in the house as if she lived there herself "So where is your little girl?" Rin ignored greeting Inuyasha and now wondered what Kagome was talking about she was in the living room only a few seconds ago, Rin walked in and looked around she then walked into a small hall and heard very quiet almost mute humming. She sighed feeling reassured and made it back to the living room to see Inuyasha and Kagome sitting at the table looking at the book Chiestuka had left out.
"She is already learning to read and write?"
"Yes, I told her not many women of our time do. Now she seems to want to fully know both."
"I see, how old is she?"
"Three, her birthday was December 11th."
"So um how has she been aging?" Inuyasha asked the first thing he has said since getting in the house, he normally was the loud one last she remembered yet he is now tamed it seems. Rin wondered in her mind if that was due to marrying Kagome or if he had finally matured.
"She ages like a normal human child, however she doesn't share even a drop of human blood."
Kagome and Inuyasha spoke in sync "How is that possible?" Rin smiled and explained the situation, "Well I'm immortal so she has immortal blood, then half demon blood from her father, and the well did something to us. Changed us somehow gave us powers and I think that is why she shares no human blood. Her blood is about three fourths demon and one forth immortal."
"But aren't immortals like mortals?"
"Yes, but my blood is different all together. It seems during the mating my blood changed, but not to a demon. So I'm neither mortal or demon."
"I see. So has anything changed at all?"
"Yes, actually it has. I remember my mate's eye color, and the powers I spoke of are physic. I can read minds and my daughter can read a few minutes into the future." Kagome and Inuyasha both seemed to not believe and yet are amazed at this news. Rin smiled reading Kagome's mind 'If you can read my mind then tell me your daughter's name I'm dying to know.' Rin looked over at Inuyasha and narrowed her eyes reading his mind 'Bored, Bored, Bored.'
"Well Inuyasha is complaining how bored he is, and Kagome if you really wanna know my daughter's name all you had to do was ask. Her name is Chiestuka." Rin smiled as Kagome glared at Inuyasha how looked away from both women and Rin smiled when Kagome spoke "Sorry about his rudeness and that is a wonderful name. Mai." Rin smiled she didn't much like that name and wanted to hear her real name again, she felt if she kept on going as Mai she might forget what her true name is.
"I've grown tired of that name, and it's been three years I you have let me and Chiestuka live here. I think I can tell you my true name now. It's Rin." Kagome smiled and nodded as Inuyasha's ears flicked and his head went to the hall where a noise came "Mommy?" Rin could tell her child was scared meeting two strangers, she probably wasn't sure if she could come out or not with makeup. Rin got up and walked over and picked her up, Chiestuka buried her face into her mother's chest hiding. Inuyasha noticed the ears on her head, they were like his and her had was similar but it was like and off white with a tint of blue like a tint of icy blue.
Rin smiled and sat back down at the table petting her daughter's head and whispered in her ear "It's okay they won't hurt you. Remember they live where your daddy lives and they helped mommy, so there is no need to hide and no need to fear them."
"But you said one is a priestess and priestesses don't like demons!"
Kagome heard the child's voice and felt shocked she was a priestess but she had many friends that were demons or half demons, and that did make her job a little difficult at times. She saw demons as people who could be good or bad and many humans only thought of them as bad. Half the calls for exterminations are on friendly and kind demons or half demons. That humans just assumed are killers.
"I'm nice, I won't hurt you. I also have many friends that are demons and half demons." Chiestuka still didn't trust her, but she wanted to see this priestess. Rin looked down and let her daughter turn around to sit on her lap facing everyone. Inuyasha watched as the ears on her little head flickered and she whipped her head to him and Kagome, her eyes glared angrily at Kagome they held these bright golden honey colored irises. That look she had on was familiar but when he saw her maroon stripes they were two on each cheek. The top one just under her eye stretched half way to her nose and then curved down wards. Under the top stripe was a shorter one that stretched a fourth of the distance to her nose and curved upwards. The last thing that caught his eye was a dark blue crescent moon, he had seen that moon somewhere before… but it was purple.
'Sesshomaru! That's what I smelt!'
Rin was engaging in a conversation about Kagome and Inuyasha's time in the feudal era, how she has become the first doctor in their village and even taught Keade the other priestess who lived there some medical basic know-how's.
"You said your name was Rin right?!"
Inuyasha gave her a chilly look and then narrowed his eyes to Chiestuka who only seemed to glare back and at that moment that glare was a glare he knew very well "Rin I know who your mate is." Rin's eyes went wide and the Chiestuka looked up at her mom, Rin came to her senses and smiled looking down at her daughter "Chiestuka, why do you go she if Grams needs some help at Kagome's house?" Chiestuka nodded she knew not to question her mother and that her mother needed to have adult talk with these people she glared at Kagome and Inuyasha both "Don't you guys hurt my mommy, or else!" Rin smiled and sighed she found it cute how brave her daughter was, she waited for her daughter to leave the house and she even watched through a window to make sure she had left before speaking.
"Tell me."
"Sesshomaru, Daiyoukai Lord to the west."
Something pulsed through Rin and she found herself excited almost in tears "Explain." Inuyasha nodded and took a breath he realized after three years of knowing nothing what he is saying must be some of the best news, so he had to be honest and not say anything too cruel about him. "He is my half brother and he used to have a little girl around him for a few years, we ran into her time to time. Her name is Rin and she was very happy by his side even though a monk had offered to take her to a village and be raised with humans she picked a life by my brother's side. By his side she was his servant and had no chances of living a normal life that would involve marriage or children, and he hates mortals so it was very unlikely he would ever try anything with that girl."
Kagome started putting the pieces together and watched Rin's face slowly turn into a smile as tears streamed down her face "But then one day we ran into him and he didn't have anyone with him, when the little girl was with him he also had a two headed dragon and a toad demon name-"
"Named Jaken."
An: SO?!
