Rin smiles looking at Inuyasha as he is waiting for her in the spot they had agreed on. Not too far behind her house is where they will start her training. However he warned her, he wouldn't go easy on her for just being a girl. She would be treated the same as a man who is training. This fact made her feel happy. She didn't want to be trained differently she needed to protect her child and herself. She didn't have the luxury of taking training easy, Chiestuka was very excited to go to a time where she could be herself. Not hide and truthfully so was Rin she was more than happy to go. She longed to go back, Chiestuka could walk and talk now she could keep up while they were traveling, so now it was up to Rin to train and then home would be just a few minutes of packing away.

Inuyasha smiled as he has his arms on his hips with his sleeves rolled up. Rin was wearing a miko's uniform for training because she refused to wear a modern work out outfit, she hated both outfits. The miko outfit was at least an outfit from her home era, so she picked it for that reason and that reason alone. Rin looked into his eyes and before she read what he was thinking, he spoke what was on his mind "Okay, today is day one of training. So I want you to run once around the shrine then walk a lap, and after that another lap of running. Then meet me back here once you are done with that."

She smiled and nodded with determination 'Running has never been a strong suit of mine, I remember running from those wolves and tripping over my own feet. I was running for my life and I still failed. Even running from the bandits when my parents were killed I barely made it and that was because I hid. Then there was that time I ran from bandits after Jaken was killed, I ran but Sesshomaru saved me in the end. This time has to be different, I won't… no I can't fail. I will do this on my own.' Rin stared at the starting point and then at the path ahead and heard Inuyasha yelled "Now!"

Her feet pushed off the ground and she was started off running at a good speed as she remembered her time with her mate. Inuyasha and Kagome had said her name was a daiyoukai lord who goes by the name of Sesshomaru. That name did sound elegant and beautiful she smiled 'A name befitting a lord, I'm happy I can remember everything. Well almost I still can't place a face with his name. She took a deep breath and kept her new found pace as she ran making it to the first corner, she had to run three more to make a lap. Rin stared off into space remembering a more pleasant time.

~Flashback~

Rin smiled happily her arms spread out on both sides of her as if she were a flying bird, she smiled and ran with the youthful energy of a child. Lord Sesshomaru was leading his small group up through the peaks of a canyon, told Jaken to stay behind Rin and watch for anything to take note of. Ah Un was flying in the sky and he would let out a roar if he saw any danger. Rin was kept in the dark of the danger around them. Canyons were often full of small demons and sometimes even noteworthy demons. However Rin's childish antics did but, some light into their dull situation. Sesshomaru would normally think of traveling as boring however it did offer freedom, Rin made traveling entertaining.

She hummed as she started skipping; her attention was changed to another object all her joyful skipping and running halted as she stopped and crouched down to see a small object on the ledges path. Jaken was in deep thought as he was walking 'Was this place really a good idea? The path they walked on was hugging a cliff side and was big enough for ah un to walk on, but it probably wouldn't support his weight. Why not us all fly? On the right side of this path is a cliff and on the left is a fall straight down into the canyon, and we are so high up if I fell I would surely die. Let alone that little mortal brat.'

He kept walking and then he paused 'Little brat…What! Where did she go?! She isn't in front of me!' He stopped and whipped his head in all directions searching even over the cliff and he heard humming and cranked his head to look behind him to see the girl crouching and staring at something on the path. Rin starred turning her head from side to side and then heard Jaken's voice "Rin you little pest, quit being in a daze! You are causing our lord trouble!" Suddenly a shadow loomed over her and her eyes remained on the flower "Rin if you don't come on I will-."

"Jaken!" Sesshomaru raised his monotone voice to a slightly different tone that invoiced his dislike of threatening Rin. Sesshomaru had noticed his companions stop at first he continued believing they would follow when they didn't he decided to see what the reason was. It was a flower no big surprise, Rin often stopped for flowers. However this was no ordinary flower, this flower was one that most mortals never saw in their lives. He now understood why his young ward had stopped for her this was a once and a life time experience she would most likely never see it again, however he had seen it several times.

This flower was a rare demon flower that Sesshomaru deeply hated. This was a flower that sprouted in an area with very specific environment a place of little water and lots of sun, it had to have a strong demonic aura in the region to activate it. Sesshomaru and his group had been in this huge canyon for a day so it must have sprouted then, it sprouts in minutes. The part he truly hates is the seed is not a real seed like a normal flower. The seed is a drop of blood of a dying half demon. However the seed created by a drop of blood, from a dying demon that mated with a mortal. 'A love that is doomed is what makes this flower bloom.'

He had first seen one at the palace where his father had been killed, the flower was blooming through the wooden pile of the palace. Rin looked up at the shadow over her and she smiled up at her lord "My lord, please forgive me for stopping. It's just…" Her attention returns to the flower "This flower is…" Sesshomaru's voice was soft as he spoke "A rare beauty." Rin nodded and Sesshomaru bent down and plucked the blossom from its spot and placed it in her hands. Suddenly the flower that had its petals each holding all the colors of the rainbow together in a beautiful swirling mix of colors.

The petals all curled to the red center and hardened into a beautiful glass like jewel, Sesshomaru's eyes widened and he thought to himself. 'This is problematic. It only forms a jewel when the holder has a pure love for the demon whom cause the flower to bloom…Rin. You are still a child, so I shall see this as love for your lord and nothing else.'

~Flashback ends~

'Sadly I lost that jewel not long after,' She was now on her walking lap thankfully her legs were burning already and her breathing was heavy. Rin thought about having a drink of water, but having water in her belly as she ran the next lap didn't seem smart all the swishing would make her ill. It would be a setback if she got sick while training.

She thought about that flower 'How old was I when that happened? I think we were still pursuing Naraku. So seven?' She decided to try and remember something else she liked her memories, she had finally had them back. She thought of her and Jaken in the village it was a less pleasant memory because lord Sesshomaru was no longer in her life at that time. Even though he was no longer being in her life physically changed nothing, he never left her mind. The simplest things could make her remember her him, like flowers, the colors he wore, his hair color, phrases he would speak, the moon.

Rin smiled happily looking at the new house Jaken had built was finished with a fence keeping Rin safe and protected even though they were in the center of the village. She had a new leather ball that was dyed a purple, and had fine threading to keep it together. Rin smiled holding the ball she wore a light yellow yukata with little yellow blossoms all over it, she favored flowery prints. They reminded them of him and she had always loved flowers. She smiled and bounced the ball to a little girl a few years younger than her, named Mai. Rin's friend wore a yukata of just a plain blue with ice blue stripes and a yellow obi. She smiled happily as she passed the ball to her friend "Your turn Mai!"

Jaken watched sitting on the porch pouring himself some tea as he had rice balls near him "Rin come have a snack, you two have been throwing that ball for some time. The summer heat may take its toll, mortals are fragile beings." Rin smiled and grabbed Mai's hand walking her towards the porch as the ball lie on the grass under a tall tree. Mai looked at Jaken and hid behind Rin, this caused Rin to turn around and smile "Mai, it's okay."

"But… He is a demon." Mai spoke hesitantly.

"Yeah, and I'm a human." Rin grew slightly angered and countered her.

"Huh?" Mai didn't know what to say, so she just made a confused sound.

"So what?" Rin smiled looking at her friend "Why does it matter, he is kind none the less." Jaken huffed and looked away angered by Rin's comment 'I'm not kind, I'm a demon and my heart is cold. I only care for her because it was what my lord wished.' He sighed looking at Rin and the other girl smiling and giggling chasing each other around the garden 'Or that's the lie I tell myself.'

Rin smiles at her friend as they sit panting under the tree, Mai speaks quietly "Rin, so what did you do before coming here?" She smiled and looked at her friend's face "Oh well, I traveled a lot. We were never in one place for more than two days at the most." Mai spoke picking a few clovers as she started to make a little woven tiara, "So why did you travel?" Jaken had told her they never stayed in a place long because Lord Sesshomaru never stayed in a place long. Rin nodded she remembered when she woke after being killed by wolves she saw his face, and she wanted nothing more than to be by his side. Some would say he was cruel or cold, but he was kind compared to everyone else she had met in her life. Only her family was kind like Sesshomaru, he protected and provided for her and he even carried conversations with her.

"Because my lord never stayed in a place long, Jaken and I are his wards for the remainder of our lives. He cared for me when no one else did, he was kind." Rin happy smile from speaking of her lord changed as her mind continued with thoughts of him, her expression was filled with sorrow as she looked at her lap "But one day my lord left Jaken and I, it's been four months and he has not returned. Jaken said I am to live here for the remainder of my life." Mai's head turned from her flower weaving to Rin hearing the sadness in her new friends voice and her eyes widened seeing tears fall from Rin's eyes "Mai, I miss my lord terribly. I want to return to him."

"My mother told me that if you truly love something to set it free, and if it returns it was always yours to keep." Rin stopped her sniffling as she looked at her friend "What do you mean?" Mai smiled standing up and with a look on her face that Rin hadn't seen before "Well, maybe he loved you and set you free thinking it was best? Or Maybe you should let him be free and stay here, if he comes back then there you go you got him back! So um in the meanwhile just stay here with me, I'll be your friend until he returns."

"What you think he will come back?!"

"Yea I'm sure of it! You talk about him with a good heart, so you should believe in him too."

~End of Flashback~

Rin smiled a tired smile as she thought about how in the modern era she had used the name Mai for a few years, the name Mai seemed nice. But then she smiled remembering her old friend that was stolen by bandits before her eyes, Mai probably was a slave if she was still alive or she was dead. Both ideas made her sad, however her being alive even if she was a slave the thought of her living made Rin happy.

She made her way to Inuyasha and he smiled looking at her "Good, now go have lunch and then you will do fifty pushups, twenty squats, three minute wall squats, fifty jumping jacks and then one last walking lap around the shrine. Then we will repeat this tomorrow. Rin was in panting breaths as she breathed "When will we spar? When will I learn to wield a blade?" He crossed his arms and threw his head to the side and in the air "Feh! I'm your teacher and you will learn when I say, but first we need to make you strong. Mrs. Higurashi said she made a very healthy lunch with lots of victims and other things like that to help you."

Rin huffed and she went into the main house since it was closer, she made her way to the bathroom and washed her face and even barrowed some scented oils that Kagome called perfume. Chiestuka smiled and ran through the hallway and looked at the bathroom door she smiled from ear to ear seeing the door open "Mommy!" Rin felt something slam into her legs she smiled looking down to see her daughter hugging her tight, Rin let her hand drift to pet her daughter's soft hair. Chiestuka smiled and looked up at her mommy, she raised her arms and gave a cute begging face. Rin sighed and then giggled as she picked up her daughter and resting Chiestuka on her waist "Let's go eat."

Chiestuka smiled and nodded hugging her mommy she had really missed her, Chiestuka had watched her mommy train but she missed her all the same. They would normally paint or read books at this time of day, sure she played with Souta but he was boring. She just sat in his room as he looked through a magazine and blasted rock music, That was until Chiestuka said it was too loud. Chiestuka frowned with a glare as her mother set her down at the table, she was not in a sour mood for being out of her mother's arms it was from remembering her time with Souta. He couldn't hear her so she yelled louder, but she wasn't heard. Chiestuka smiled thinking of what she had done next, she had done something she never did before. Anger grew in her and she stood up and glared yelling at Souta, out of anger she flung her right arm and a soft blue glowing light that took the form of an almost like whip form flew from her fingers and made the large stereo crash.

The stereo melted in the places the whip thing had made contact with the music machine, 'I'll tell mommy about it when we go home.' Chiestuka was quiet at the meal eating her meal quickly if her mommy was training then so would she, she watched her mother eat. Whatever Rin ate Chiestuka ate, Rin noticed this and it warmed her heart 'I promise I'll train hard and make you proud.' After the meal was done Rin got to work on her hard work out and Chiestuka smiled running into the storage house where gramps was, she stopped in the door way and spoke "Gramps?" The old man holding a big jar straightened up hearing his name and he wasn't able to see over the huge jar so instead he set it down.

"Oh Chiestuka, its you."

"Gramps I had a question I wanted to ask."

"Sure ask away."

"Do you have a sword I can use?"

The old man's face molded into a surprised expression a child of three asking about using a sword? He thought about the best way to approach this subject, Rin from the feudal era and they did train children young however three was far too young even for back then "I have a wooden sword you may use, however I will not give you a true blade." Chiestuka pursed her lips in a pout and narrowed her eyes dangerously at him, one thing that Rin, Uncle Inuyasha and Aunt Kagome all said was Sesshomaru's gift to the child. Chiestuka smiled she knew these mortals were her family and she felt better in knowing that, before it felt like they lived with strangers and it felt weird.

"But I need to train too, I want to train with mommy."

"In the feudal era even at your age they didn't use real blades, I stick with my idea to give you only a wooden sword." Chiestuka sighed nodded she would give up for now, she saw the future and there was no possibility of her getting a blade. 'I'll show mommy I can be a good fighter too, I want to show daddy when I meet him too!'

Chiestuka smiled as she saw him get on a step stool and reached for a long box on a high self and he smiled "Here this practice sword was passed down from generations ago, carved from a tree of the shrine based at mount Hakurei." Chiestuka couldn't help but sigh out of annoyance she was thankful, but she really didn't want to listen to a two hour story about a wooden practice sword. She quickly got the box and ran out of the storage house, she smiled opening up the box she made her way to clothing line. An idea sprouted in her mind and she quickly ran into her house grabbing some paper chain link origami and hung it on the line. She then took the sword in her hands and took a deep breath, as she raised the sword behind her and thrusted it forward tearing the paper links from the line. However something felt wrong like she was doing it wrong, but what? She had never held a sword before so how was she supposed to know how to do it? A shadow loomed over her and Chiestuka turned around to see the threat only to see "Uncle Inuyasha." He smiled folding his arms across his chest "Trying to wield a sword?"

"Yea, I want to protect mommy and show daddy I'm strong!"

"Well then need to grow strong, you daddy is strong." Chiestuka face broke into a large ear to ear smile and she nodded, however Inuyasha ruined the moment with his words like usual "But I beat your daddy a lot, so he isn't that strong." This made something in Chiestuka boil 'My daddy is strong, and amazing!' Inuyasha had closed his eyes and turned his back to her "Yea, I even cut his arm off once-." That was it in an instance Inuyasha found pain surging on his back, he turned around to see Chiestuka and her small claws glowing light blue and the sword in her obi. She narrowed her eyes and Inuyasha in that instance saw a flash 'Sesshomaru.'

"So you can use your poison whip even though you're nothing but a little kid. So you don't like me talking bad about your daddy."

"Don't you ever talk bad about daddy!"

"I also I had to save Sesshomaru when Naraku was around."

"My daddy would never need a half demon's help!"

"You're a half demon."

"SHUT UP!" With that Chiestuka launched herself at her uncle, Inuyasha chuckled and dodged 'What a child, she could never land a hit on me while I am paying attention.' In just that moment it seemed Chiestuka wasn't fazed by her uncle's dodge instead she met him head on her wooden sword landing a blow on his head. Inuyasha threw a punch that Shippo was too familiar with, however she dodged it with ease and used her sword to hit his arm he let out a howl of pain. This was making the half demon mad he then launched himself to grab her only to have her use the sword to hit his shin and make him fall over in pain.

Suddenly Chiestuka heard her named called out, she jumped away from her uncle and saw him running towards her. She smiled seeing the future and knowing what was to come next, she jumped away "SIT!SIT!SIT!" With a loud sound of her uncle's body slamming into the stone courtyard she was able to made it to her mommy's side "Mommy! Did you see me?!"

Rin had and it surprised her Chiestuka who had never picked up a sword had been defeating Inuyasha at the age of three "Yes, and I'm proud... but-" Suddenly before Rin could speak her whole thought she stopped knowing that Kagome was about to yell, she read Kagome's mind and it was a question she was also wanting an answer too.

"INUYASHA! HOW COULD YOU FIGHT WITH CHIESTUKA?! SHE IS ONLY THREE! YOU IDIOT!" Inuyasha picked himself out of the dirt crater and glared at his niece "She attacked me!" Rin looked over at her daughter and spoke before Kagome could "Is that true?" Chiestuak nodded her head hung down, but something seemed to light her courage as she took a deep breath and glared at Inuyasha she pointed his way "But he spoke bad of daddy! Saying daddy was weak and not good!" Rin and Kagome whip their heads to Inuyasha giving him icy glares that meant his death, Kagome turned away "You sleep on the couch for a month!"

"What no way!"

Kagome didn't waste a second for anyone else to speak and took the moment to chew out her boyfriend "Yes, way! How could you speak of her father to her in that manner?! Inuyasha you are the worst uncle ever!" Rin smiled and looked at her daughter "But you were very good, your father would have been so proud of you. How did you fight him without getting hurt?"

Chiestuka ignored her mother and glared at Inuyasha "Uncle! I'm not like you! I have no human blood! I can see the future! So remember I will not lose!" Rin's eyes widened she smiled 'Yes, those powers of ours will come into great use into battle. I can read my enemy's mind to know his next move, and Chiestuka can see their planned attack…perhaps home isn't far away at all.'

"Chiestuka, lets go home its past your bed time."

"Okay mommy."

Kagome and Inuyasha were heard yelling as they walked away, Chiestuka was holding her mommy's hand and she frowned looking at her mother whom smiled "Am I in trouble for attacking?" Rin shook her hand and smiled happily "No, I'm glad you defended your father. Inuyasha was in the wrong to speak of him that way to you. Your father is very strong; however some say he isn't nice that he is cruel. Others even go as far to say some even say he is evil."

Fear spiked in her daughter and she could feel her daughter's hand shake "Don't worry; your father doesn't let many see his true nature. I'm sure it's because he doesn't ever want to appear as weak, your father never shows emotions to others. So people misunderstand him for cruel, cold or evil… but he is deep down kind, he was to me and to my adopted father for a short time Jaken."

"Oh…Mommy I have a blue light that comes from my nails."

"That is a poison whip, and it comes from your claws. Your father has a green one he uses in battles."

"He does?!"

"Yes. I am surprised you are able to use it at your age."

"My age?"

"Yes, far as I knew most demons are not able to use their demonic powers until they are around the age of nine. I'm so proud of you, Chiestuka."

"You are?!" Rin smiled seeing her daughter's bright smile, it warmed her heart and she decided to add onto her praising " And I'm sure your father would be very proud of you."

Chiestuka nodded and hummed as they made their way home.

AN: Partly inspired by my father, we have been separated for five years. This fall I will see him again, in a way Chiestuka and I are in the same spot right now. But don't worry she will get to meet her daddy before the fall I won't make you guys weight that long ^-^
