Rin smiles looking at the webpage from the device Kagome had in her old room, it was a laptop. The webpage listed many fine judo and sword teachers, Inuyasha and Rin hadn't made up and she refused to be taught by him. Kagome suggested a teacher who lived in Kobe, it was far from Tokyo and would be a long journey even by train. Rin's new teacher was a man by the name or Ryuu Yamakashi. He lived in a small dojo that was able to house students however currently the master had not taken on any students. The webpage had said it had been five years since his last student whom had been twenty; Rin wasn't near that age yet. She was only sixteen or seventeen Rin had forgotten her true birthday when her parents whom had known the correct date had died when Rin was only five.

Sesshomaru had gifted her the birthday of June twelfth, however he never gave her an exact year only told her that her scent was that of a eight year old. That was the last birthday she had celebrated and it had been some years since then and she figured she had to be sixteen or seventeen, however she would settled for the younger age.

'I am sixteen.'

Four days after calling the dojo, faxing messages, leaving emails, sending letters, and even texts to the master's personal phone. Kagome had told Rin they still hadn't had any word back from the master and asked her what she wanted to do. Inuyasha had suggested him teaching her only to have her shoot him down again in an instant. Kagome happily thought of another idea to simply find another teacher from the list of masters in judo and in the sword. Rin being suborn wouldn't settle for anyone other than Ryuu Yamakashi.

So thanks to Kagome's mother how had been pasting by hearing the trio's conversation added her suggestion "Why not all three of you going to visit the dojo and ask him face to face. Perhaps the master will decide to take you on as a student." Rin nodded and Kagome had bought the tickets and packed their bags, Inuyasha complained he hadn't wanted to go. He hated having his ears covered and being around that public dojo would mean he would have to for the whole time, only freedom was him in the bath or him in a private bedroom.

Rin smiled at the thought of being one step closer to her goal, but the thought that pained her was Chiestuka. She didn't want her daughter to come with them to the dojo it was risky if she were seen, and she didn't want her daughter to become used to hiding her true self. Her daughter didn't need to come along anyways, so she could stay at the shrine and be safe with Kagome's mother, brother and grandfather.

Chiestuka had been painting with her mother shortly after they had planned their trip. Rin smiled looking at her daughter's canvas it was a big pink round thing that seemed like petals, with a yellow center. Rin smiled with pride as she looked at her own canvas her daughter was copying the blossom Rin was painting.

"So talented."

Chiestuka jerked her head to Rin's face and glared "Mommy I said no looking!"

Rin smiled she forgot her daughter hated it when she peeked before Chiestuka said it was time to look. The young mother sighed and thought about how to tell her daughter the news of the trip including herself, Inuyasha and Kagome. Chiestuka would surely protest and throw a fit. That night Rin had been right Chiestuka pouted and didn't speak to her mother at all that night, the next morning when Chiestuka woke…

Rin sighed thinking of her plan 'I'll be gone, before you wake.'

Kagome and Inuyasha were waiting at the gate for Rin at six am, Chiestuka woke normally at nine. Rin thought about how it would have been easier if Inuyasha was her teacher he was a half demon and he would be a more worthy teacher than a mortal. But he had done something unforgivable.

He had insulted her mate and she refused to even acknowledge him until he apologized to her daughter. Rin knew Sesshomaru was no heavenly angel in white. Sesshomaru was a demon lord and he was raised to be cold hearted, having a cold heart made it easier to be a lord. A demon lord had to be a killer, he had to make hard decisions and couldn't let his heart or conscience get in the way. That was what mortals did and many times it led to their down fall. But then again Rin remembered how kind he was, when they first met he let her do as she pleased. She offered him food and water even though he refused he needed help, he asked of her bruises. He gave her a new life twice, and provided her with companionship, clothing, and protection. The best gift was Chiestuka, he had been cruel at times.

But he was raised to see humans as weak and he thought of her and him, Rin knew being a mortal and a mate to a demon would be hard on both of them. Many times demons would attacked the mates of demons and half demons for no reason other than the fact that they carried human blood, and if the mare of a demon was killed the demon would perish as well. It was very risky business to mate with a mortal and she couldn't blame him for being confused and angered by it. He had hurt her emotionally and physically, however they had spoken and made up. The times after that were happy and blissful, she hated seeing him go and something told her he hated to go.

But the last encounter with him was odd, he was cruel and almost evil. Something was seriously off like he wasn't himself, and he didn't act like a mate did. Rin felt as if that Sesshomaru had not been her's after all she had been poisoned and he was the only one able to go through the barrier. But if she died then so would he and Sesshomaru was not one to commit such a dishonorable act.

'I can't wait to find out the truth of our last encounter.'

Rin stared out the window of the train seeing the reflection of Inuyasha who slept laying on the bench, her eyes shifted to see Kagome who sat on the same bench as she did. Kagome had busied herself with a magazine, Rin sighed and stared at the country side imagining it the village she had originally resided in. The place she hated every day when she woke to the dawning of a new day, however one good thing came from her life there. She met her mate and had an exciting life, that was where her path and his intertwined and led them down their current path.

Her in the modern era as an immortal with his child.

Him in the past with no idea of their child nor where they currently reside. Rin sighed and closed her eyes thinking about her daughter as the humming of the train tracks and the small movements of the train rock her to sleep. She drifted off into a dream state and what she dreamed about was a happy memory. Rin smiled in her sleep as her eyes drifted from side to side hidden under her heavy eyelids, Kagome smiled looking at her a girl she thought of as her friend. She let a smile leak onto her face as she went back to her task and let Rin sleep soundly, unlike Inuyasha.

She looked over at the half demon who had twitching ears and limbs in his sleep. Kagome wished she had power so she could see what he was dreaming about, it had to be something Inuyasha loved. He loved a few things. Kagome went through the list in her head of what Inuyasha loved. 'He loved ramen, his friends, his parents, her she hoped. Then Kikyo…' She sighed and shook her head ridding herself of her old jealousy, her focus back on her magazine.

"K-Ki…" Kagome looked up at her man to see what he was doing 'Talking in his sleep? Wait Ki? Don't tell me."

"Ki…Kikyo."

Kagome got up and stood over him with her fist raised and she smiled wickedly, she let out a growl of anger 'I guess since he is in the dog house already I'll let it slide this time.' Rin nuzzle closer to the train window resting her right check to the cool glass window. A few hours passed and Rin woke with Kagome standing over her, Rin stood up squaring her shoulders to present herself with the most noble image of herself. She remembered she could not act like a child she could not act like some normal mortal, after being Sesshomaru's mate she wasn't able to be claim to be either of what she once was.

Inuyasha stood up far to carelessly and hit his head on the top compartment where they had stored their luggage. Rin had packed a few kimonos and nothing else but her paints, after her training she would need something to unwind with and a way to relax. Exiting the train was pretty easy a little crowded it was a short walk to the dojo, Inuyasha was persistent on eating at a real ramen shop before going to the dojo. Kagome had been trying to reason with him that this was Rin's journey and they should accompany her.

"Well if it's her journey then she should go alone, I didn't sign up for this!"

"Uh yeah you did when you came along!"

"You dragged me here!"

Rin was leading the group her lips had formed a thin line and her eyes were closed and she could stand it no more their pointless bickering "Just leave me, I can go on my own." The bickering couple stopped their arguing and stared at the teen mother, Kagome was the first to speak "But Rin." Inuyasha shrugged and walked away to the nearest ramen shop "Alright then come on Kags lets go!"

"But," Kagome shifted her head from her love to her friend and then back again.

"Its fine go, I prefer to go alone."

The half demon and his lover let the girl go, he turned to see Kagome watching her go up the stone path to the dojo on the slope above. Rin walked with her small yellow pack Kagome gave her, she stared off into space as her mind was off in deep thought. She didn't pay attention to much around her other than the sound of her shoes touching the stone path, a gentle winter breeze blew by making her shiver and come back to earth. Somehow even though she was out of it she had somehow come to her destination, she looked at the stone fence surrounding the dojo before walking up to the gate.

Rin saw a man sweeping the dead vegetation carried by the wind from the dojo courtyard. The man had long dark brown hair in a high ponytail and he bore a scar on his left cheek, his eye color was hazel color. He also had a tan complexion from hours of being in the summer sun, however this was winter and this tan has dulled a bit. This man wore modern day grey jeans and a white sweater and he wore black slippers that looked like the ones of the feudal era. She walked through the gate and into the court yard to see the man stop sweeping and look up at her.

"May I help you?"

"I have come looking for Master Ryuu Yamakashi."

"I take on no students. Get lost little girl." The man looked at the young girl in front of him she wore a light pink kimono with red blossoms flowing freely on the material, with several yellow butterflies fluttering from blossom to blossom on the material of her kimono. White little specks that were snowflakes were sewn into the material along with the butterflies and blossoms. It was tied with a nice red obi, she wore tabi socks with nice wood sandals. She wore a white scarf to warm her neck and her hair was up in a nice bun with decorative golden combs, she had two sections in front of her shoulders. He turned away as if saying she were of no importance what so ever, the man went back to his sweeping as if he had never been interrupted.

Rin glared at his back and read his mind 'Some child who wants to waste my time, I have no time to be wasted.' This made her glare at him even harder wanting to burn a hole in his back with her gaze if she could, she then took another step toward him "I will not let you waste my time, you will teach me!" The dojo's owner turned hearing her raise her voice "I said leave." Rin glared at him and put her hands on her hips and formed her lips into a thin line "Teach me."

"I don't take on students!"

"And I cannot leave."

"What?"

"I will not leave until you teach me." Rin stared at him her glare never faltering from its cold hardened gaze one she had been used to seeing work on others. She smiled to herself thinking 'You used it many times. You never lost to the one you pointed your glare two. And I won't lose to this foolish man, I will be taught by his hand alone!' He irritation radiated off of him as he spoke "Why are you so persistant? To brag to your friends? To beat up some bullies? To protect yourself? What selfish reason could you have little girl?!"

"To protect my daughter!"

"Your daughter?" He grew silent and seemed to ponder the idea, before Rin could say anything else he spoke again "A young girl like you? Surely you have others to do that. The child's father?" Rin glared at him and stepped forward anger rolling off of her, her gaze only became more icy and it now truly rivaled that of her mate's "I am the only one she has. I must be able to protect her!" He stared in her eyes and then let a smirk cross his face, "I see, I will teach you. Young immortal."
