At the risk of being called a conceited ass, has anyone else noticed the influx of just fucking shitty fanfiction recently? Just uninspired, run of the mill drivel and shit that somehow people think is a good idea to post, mostly in the 'Naruto Crossover' sections it's just all the same crap, Fairy Tail, Highschool DXD, RWBY, One Piece boring arse shit. And then, when there are new ones, random ones you don't expect people to try writing something different it's incomprehensible shit.
I don't know I felt the need to vent, I get annoyed sometimes and you guys always put up with my shit anyway.
Also, Destiny has sucked me in deep, so my ability to write for other universes will be strained. I apologize in advance if you all are unhappy with this chapter.
Menma lay next to the Firelink bonfire, Anastasia had took it upon her self to be his pillow, almost forcing his head onto her lap, Menma didn't mind it so much as he was a little thrown by her action, from the way she acted before to now, it was quite a large difference, Menma didn't have any great problems with it, he was tired, which was getting more and more frequent. It bothered his concious mind as to what was happening to him. Why he felt the need to rest to much and so frequently.
He felt like he was getting lazy, but in his head he could tell it was lethargy. Which in itself was strange as he wasn't ill, he hadn't performed any great feats that would require recuperation.
To say he was concerned was an understatement.
Menma forced himself up and onto his feat, leaving his collection of weapons next to the Firekeeper for now, he had to speak with Frampt. Slowly making his way into the area the serpent kept himself Menma came upon the creature snoring, slumbering peacefully.
So he kicked him in the nose with his boot.
Frampt shot up with a jolt, "Uh! I'm up, I'm up...Do not treat me like some old withering snake." Ordered the Serpent, Menma merely stared at Frampt with a low glare in his eyes, the creature seemed to rapidly collect himself, he could already guess what this was about.
"You're in the shit, you know that right?" Asked Menma, though in truth it was more rhetorical than anything, he just felt it needed to be said. "I don't know what you were trying to accomplish by luring me into an illusionary trap, Frampt. But I want you to know it didn't fucking work." Snarled the Uzumaki, Frampt felt fear rush through his veins as he stared into those dark, red eyes.
Something deep and primal stirred within the serpent, it had been something he'd not felt since both he and Kath witnessed the beginning of this Age, he felt fear. Fear for what may come, fear of the entities that held these great powers, and right now he felt fear of this creature, for it simply could not be human, this smell. The aura, the...Presence held by this creature was so crippling familiar.
"I'm not here for answers. I'm not here to waste my effort on chewing you out more than I already have. Whatever you planned. Failed. I just wanted to look at your face when I told you that...It was pretty worth it." The smirk on the lethargic man made Frampt shudder, Menma turned and trudged back to the fire side. Dipping down to grab his wrapped up array of weaponry and his shield Menma gave a passing smile to Anastasia and left off towards the Berg.
Apparently someone who knew of Ash Lake was Havel the Rock, said man was kept in the farthest tower from his position, leading down to the opposite side of Darkroot from here. Bonus is, he can finally go and wash himself off in the waterfall within the Darkroot Basin.
Tsuki hovered around his general vicinity, eager to be near her new master. Menma would occasionally lift up his hand and hold her feeler like it was her own hand, the soft trills of happiness were well worth only using one arm.
It also helped that she could blast motherfuckers with her magic.
Menma felt once more that he was going in circles, having to walk the same path as he did on his first visit, when he finally arrived at the tower he had to go down instead of up, he parted ways with Tsuki the big softie wrapped him up for several minutes before letting him go, he told her just fly down towards the Basin and he'd promise to meet her there.
As he descended into the depths of the tower he did hear the odd clinking and clanking of armour Menma stepped into the lowest section and saw a man, clad in armour the colour of stone, with several sloping edges and plates, atop his head was a helmet with a grill to provide little vision and a stone plume.
His weapon though...
It looked like a giant, tooth of some kind. It was black as midnight and seemed to be worn and used through harsh battle over the years of it being in this mans possession.
As Menma walked down the steps the mans ceased all movement and turned sharply to stare at the Uzumaki, right through his helmet grill, revealing none of his facial features, only darkness. "Havel...?" Spoke black haired male, he spoke slowly and steadily to avoid startling the man.
Who knows how long he's been down here.
The half-holder merely paused all movements, waiting for Havel to make a move. "…." The dark, husky breathing of the plate-wearer was the only thing that made any noise for a few moment. Havel seemed to wring out all tenseness in his body and loft his hammer onto his shoulder.
"Speak." Ordered the Ex-Bishop, his voice hollow and void.
"I need to find Ash Lake. I was told that you could tell me where to find it..." Spoke the demonic armed male.
"Why?" Queried Havel, lowly.
"I just do, there's a reason for me to go down there. I'm not exactly going to share it out to you for no reason as it only involves myself." Replied the brunette, sharply.
"Hm." Scoffed Havel, "Ash Lake..." He began, his voice sounding quite far away, like he certainly wasn't here, "...You will find a great hollow tree, deep within the fetid swamp of Blighttown. Through the tree you must go, before you can reach that miserable place." Informed the Bishop.
Menma merely nodded and continued down the steps towards the door. "Where are you going?" Asked Havel, idly.
"To the Darkroot lake." Replied the Undead off-handedly, opening the door being greeted by his faithful companion, "Hello, Tsuki-chan. Didn't keep you long I hope?" He asked, a smile on his pale face, Tsuki warbled quietly as her feelers ran over his face. "Yes, yes. I love you too." He chuckled at the touch.
"Why is this abomination not dead before me?" Questioned Havel, loud enough for both teen and creature to hear it. "You dare bring a machination of Seath before me! You dare!" Howled Havel, Menma unwrapped himself from the butterfly's love-hug and produced his blade, the BKS and the Bloodshield were prepped and ready.
Havel rushed Menma, bearing his hammer with two hands and preparing to crush the teen beneath his boots. With a powerful vertical swing Havel made the first move, Menma ducked to the side and dashed to the mans side, with a powerful thrust into the mans side Havel rapidly shifted himself and smashed his hammer into the open ribs of his opponent Menma gasp as his ribs were crushed upon contact, his armour buckling and denting, causing him more pain.
Being knocked onto his arse Menma tumbled down the hill into the Darkroot Basin, Havel produced a length of white cloth hanging off a golden idol, Menma pawed at his wounded frame and began attempting to move out of the way from the incoming assault, it did little though as he was hit with a fully powered Wrath of the Gods, he was propelled back even further, sliding down the hill and slamming head first into a tree cracking his skull with a sickeningly loud noise.
The Uzumaki gasped as his vision immediately blackened, though he remained concious, he simply could not see, with as much coordination as his shattered body had he attempted to fish out his saving grace, Havel would still be far away enough that he could get it into him if he moved quickly, when unbuttoning his pouch didn't do anything he simple burnt through it with his demonic hand and grasped one of the flasks, slamming it down like his life depended on it, and it did his vision rapidly returned to him and his body began healing rapidly, bathing itself in the golden light of the Flame.
Rising to his feet Menma tore out the dented section of armour from his chest allowing him to breath properly, "Alright motherfucker. You're dead." Havel wasn't in the mood for speaking as he once more was upon the red-eyed male with startling speed, he swung his hammer down only finding purchase upon the tree behind his target as said target dashed out of the way, his sword was no longer in his hand instead a black orb with spinning white rings. "Rasenringu!" Roared Menma as he slammed the orb into Havel's side, the man was flung in the direction of the lake, towards a...
Giant.
Fucking.
Hydra.
It was currently asleep. But Menma had no idea how long that would be the case. Looking at the hammer that was relieved of Havel's grip he quickly produced a scroll and sealed it within, better to remove the chance of being killed with the damn thing now instead of later.
Menma called over Tsuki and mounted her, gesturing her over to the crash zone in the lake, Havel was rising to his feet, his tower-shield in his off-hand now, his Talisman clutched firmly in his other hand. The noise of his crash and his rising seemed to stir the eight headed serpent that sat within the lake, it's eyes turning from a calm blue to a raging red.
RAAAAAAAAH
The beast raged at it's sleep being interrupted, Menma ordered Tsuki to blast the ever-loving shit out of the beast whilst he dealt with Havel, the creature acquiesced with little reservation and allowed her master to fall to the ground, landing with a soft thud.
Menma allowed all his weapons to spill out onto the ground, they all stabbed into the soft earth as he touched the ground looking like a bad-ass motherfucker, such was his aim. Menma grasped his Claymore and Oscar in his right and left hands respectively, watching as Tsuki began pelting the Hydra with her powerful magic he allowed himself to focus soley on Havel.
"Your cursed Magic will do little to help you now, filthy monster." Spat Havel, he brought the talisman to his chest and was shrouded by a white cloak of his Miracle, Great Magic Barrier. Menma merely snarled at the man and charged forward, the ground splitting apart as he did so, charging his weapons with lightning he unleashed a wrathful flurry against the man who constantly seemed disgusted by his mere presence.
Havel ducked and weaved before lunging forward with his shield and opening Menma's guard up, snapping the lightning off his weapons like a switch, before slamming his talisman into the young mans chest, once more releasing a Wrath of the Gods, Menma was throwing back to his weapon circle on the shore his ribcage was almost open with how much force was put behind that assault, Menma once more fished out an Estus Flask. He only had 3 left so he needed to finish this now.
Menma staked his blades into the ground and slammed his hands together, "Rai Bushin no Jutsu." He announced creating three clones from lightning strikes that seemingly appeared out of the clear, dreary but clear, sky. "Keep him busy." Menma ordered, getting nods from the clones, each grasped a weapon, one taking Ocar and Bloodshield, one taking the Claymore and the final taking the BKS.
Menma closed his eyes and concentrated, slowly his form was taken over by Bijuu Chakra the faux fox forming around his body.
Tsuki saw her master become shrouded in red and grew concerned at the powerful, feral magic resonating from his covering, but she needed to keep the Hydra distracted, this was a must as her master had asked it of her, the only thing he ever asked of her beside the occasional ride. And she really didn't loose when it came to that, he was quite light.
Menma kept his hands in a circular motion as black and white Chakra began forming in his palms, gritting his teeth in concentration Menma kept drawing out energy, as the cloak melded with his form and his body became a raging river of red chakra, his form becoming that of a skinless fox with a cricular head, long ears and glowing white orb-shaped eyes. In place of blood was Bijuu chakra that seemed to race around his form with such haste it was almost impossible to notice it shifting.
Slowly but surely during his time in this form Menma shrunk down onto his haunches and raised the now purple-black orb to his mouth, biting it and swallowing it hole he released a powerful, ferocious grin, his mouth and teeth glowing white, much like a jack-o-lantern, as smoke shot from his nostrils, "Bijuu...DAMA!" Roared the beast his cheeks bulged as a powerful beam of white/red power shot from his gaping maw, it shot right through Havel like he was mere paper and with a turn of his head decapitated every head on the Hydra without any problem.
With nothing left to strike Menma merely rose his head skywards and continued releasing his power until the concentrated blast dimmed. It was only a few moments but it was quite the display. The whole of Darkroot were witness to the great pillar of light from the lake.
Menma's form flickered as the red chakra retreated into his body, revealing him as he usually was, he fell on his arse and panted heavily as the rush of souls from both his defeated opponents flooded his form. Tsuki fluttered down to his side, worriedly touching his face with her feelers.
"I'm fine Tsuki...Just a little out of practice with that one, it's been a while." Assured Menma raising his hand to rub the side of her head with his demonic arm, only to notice that said appendage seemed to have gotten a growth spurt, his natural armour seemed to have shot all the way up to his shoulder now, decorating it with a wicked looking pair of spikes that looked more akin to demonic horns.
Menma had only one thing to say to this.
"Fuckin' Sweet."
End of Chapter.
