This is fun. To anyone who plays and magic games, my apologies. Oh and there a reference to a scene from an episode I haven't seen in a while so forgive me if there are some errors. I tried to keep to the spirit of it.

Chapter 8:

As Reid got to his feet Garner, dressed in black robes, began to approach him. "You really thought you could get rid of me with something as simple as fire and explosives. This is the world of magic you've forsaken Agent Reid!" He shot spell at him.

Reid's tunic had already grown to a full robe and he quickly erected a weak shield spell that dispersed it rather bouncing it forward.

Garner laughed. "I thought you were a descendant of Diana Mordred. Is this all you have?"

Reid knew he was egging him on. He also knew he was ready to give the man who caused his team so much pain a strong fight, if not to his strongest. He pulled out his staff spun the tip in a circle and a tornado of wind knocked Garner off his feet.

Garner only laughed some more and slammed his palm to the ground twice. This caused the ground to split right beneath Reid's feet.

"Tell me agent Reid why didn't you answer me all those years ago?" he shouted as Reid summoned a levitation spell to get away from the ground.

"I wanted to break your delusion!" he roared back. He aimed the staff at the ground beneath Garner's feet and shot green sparks. This produced vines that wrapped tightly around him.

Garner took a deep breath and vines shattered them into daggers aimed at Reid. He barely dodged them.

"There is no illusion or delusion Doctor Reid I am the Fisher King and you have seen my devastation!"

Reid pulled out his ten-sided dice and dropped them to the ground. A red dragon with green scales emerged and began to chase him. He then magnified his voice to make sure his voice was heard.

"You cannot win this war Mr. Garner! Not in a world of full of hope and people willing to stop you!"

Garner eventually destroyed the creature of energy. "Where there is doubt the Order of the Fisher King lives! We will make our voices heard until even the mortals know and grow to fear us!"

He then spun both hands in small circles and a mist engulfed them both. Reid immediately used the charm around his neck to produce sphere of light around him but he still could not find Garner. His voice echoed through the fog.

"I don't think even you believe what you're saying. I know the Guardians are not as strong as they should be. Why else would they summon someone who hates them as much as you?"

Reid turned his staff horizontal at his waist. "Because I still feel responsible for what happened." He spun around twice with gold stunning sparks bursting from his staff.

The fog lifted, but Garner was smiling. "So you continue to feel responsible for my actions and the actions of my order. Here's a new insight into what my actions-your actions caused," he said and a razor-thin lightning bolt hit Reid straight on the forehead. Before he succumbed to the darkness he briefly wondered if he couldn't put up a defense because he felt deserved to see this.

Elle Greenaway walked into her home and collapsed onto her couch. She felt like she could sleep for a year. Then she heard a voice and realized she wasn't alone.

"RULES!" Garner shouted.

Elle was barely able to makes sense of what he was saying. "What rules?"

"I TOLD YOU YOU COULD NOT BREAK ANY RULES"

"But I didn't break any rules," she pleaded as she saw the gun leveled at her.

"BREAK A RULE AND FACE THE CONSEQUENCES!"

"What?" she gasped.

There was the sound of a gunshot and she fell back. The pain was unbearable. Just before she passed out she heard him shout again: "RULES!"

Reid screamed and realized he was on fire. The vision had lulled his defenses and now he was on the ground in engulfed in purple flames. His robes and charms were just barely keeping the pain at bay.

Garner approached him. "You still think you can save people by talking them down don't you? You keep trying to fit people into your definition of reality. You're just a spineless as the last time we met." He leered at him through the flames. "I am not going to kill you Agent Reid. I am going to let you decide whether you have enough will to live to survive the flames. Meanwhile I am going to plan my next attack and it is going to be one that your precious Guardian Rose will not see coming."

Reid sensed Garner walk away as the flames tore through his defenses. He needed to stay calm. He needed to take control of the flames like Rose had. But he couldn't. Doubt kept clouding his mind. Randal Garner wasn't a suicide bomber; he was the leader of a truly demented organization. Slowly he realized he couldn't fight the flames. He vaguely remembered how Clara Rose always seemed to be thinking at least five moves ahead of him. Withthat knowledge he closed his mind and tricked the flames into thinking they had consumed him completely.

"Reid!" Clara screamed through the filled with smoke of differing colors. She hated what that suggested. She touched one of her earrings and sensed that Randal Garner's presence was gone. She could feel no death in the in the air, yet.

She stumbled across the ground in the slippers transformed on her feet. She was able cut the constraints the outfit had put on her ability to perform magic, but she could not transform the material into something that resembled one of her suits.

When she reached to crest of the hill of and looked down she screamed. She ran down giving no care to any cuts or bruised she might be enduring as there at the bottom of the hill was the burnt form of Spencer Reid. She almost burst into tears but she held herself back as she approached where he was located. She needed to be strong for him and she sensed no death yet.

She pulled out her brooch and extended the pin into a staff. She wrote symbols around him in a circle as she tried to ignore the scent of burnt flesh. He had amulets on him. He had tools that would protect him. He was not dead and would not die. She muttered a Latin phrase and the symbols glowed yellow. In a flash of light he was gone to the nearest magical hospital that could care for burn patients.

Rose wasn't done yet. Reid could not do this on his own and nor could she. She sighed out loud. "Crud, I need to get a prophesy fulfilled."

She walked a little further away from the smoke and debris and twisted a ring on one of her fingers. Within seconds the Weiss twins appeared. They were together holding by its metal hook a small stone box. She let out a small sigh of relief.

"Did run into any problem retrieving it?" she asked.

"None," they said in unison. Fritz bit his lip. "I'm not a fan of lying to Agent Reid though."

"Where is he?" asked Greg.

"In a place where he'll need this sooner rather later," she snapped. "Could you find any info on the whereabouts of the other one?"

"None, sorry," Fritz said.

That didn't concern her as much and she had theory it had been gone for a long time. "Don't worry about that. Please give me the box."

They gave it to her and Greg let out a sigh of relief. "You know I am all for breaking rules especially for a good cause, but this is even high for me."

Rose grabbed Fritz's right arm and Greg's left and began to mark rune symbols into their arms using her right thumb ring. "Trust me if you two think you've broken a hundred rules, I'm going to break a thousand before the Order of the Fisher King is taken down."

She let go of their arms. "These spells will take you to a country with no extradition treaties mortal or magical. There are also coordinates for a friend of mine who will take you in. You should be safe if you keep your heads down until this hopefully blows over." She pulled her thumb ring off and gave it to Fritz, eliminating the magical evidence trail. "Good luck."

They both saluted her. "And to you Ma'am," Fritz said.

"Yes you were-are the best jailor-slash-employer we have ever had," Greg added.

For the first time in what felt like ages she smiled. "Thank you," she said and snapped her fingers. Fritz and Greg Weiss disappeared in cloud of white smoke.

She felt surge of magic released and another letdown.

"Time to break rule eight-hundred eighty-seven, read outside law enforcement in," she said to herself with a sigh and began to adjust her rings to teleport closer to Vegas. She wondered what time it was where Reid's team from the BAU was located.
