Author's Note:

I know a short chapter. It might be couple days before I update again.

Chapter 10:

Rose pulled out a small stone box. "When they took away Diane's powers two rings were formed. A black one for powers of darkness that according to my contacts has been missing for some time but the council refuses acknowledge the fact would mean admitting to losing what amounts to weapon of mass destruction. In other words a typical a government oversight.

Rossi groaned, "Government ineptness in universal."

Rose agreed, "Which is why it was harder to get ahold of this ring that contains of Diane's pure and joyful magic."

She pressed the hinges on the case and the gold ring appeared a pillow of purple velvet. She carefully picked up the ring and showed it to the agents. "The ring has no power unless it is being worn by someone. I honestly am not entirely certain how this will work but my studies suggest that it needs to be worn by the person who carries a similar amount of responsibility as King Arthur and in this case that would be you Agent Hotchner."

Hotch was both taken aback and mildly embarrassed. "I am not King Arthur," he sputtered and turned to Rossi "you're the most senior agent."

Rossi shook his head. "I may appreciate the finer things in life like gold my friend but you are far more suited for leadership."

Hotch took a deep breath. "Then what happens?"

"You all join hands in circle with two people touching Reid. Touching the bandages won't hurt him; they are already at least two inches deep."

Garcia raised her hand slightly. "Um do any of us play specific roles? Like there no female knights and I think Morgan would make a terrific Sir Lancelot-"

"There is no specific text that thoroughly defines the roles of these characters. They are not like gods who only possess a certain set of traits. Some stories about the knights are false and others are true and-"Rose stopped and sighed. "-Reid would be so much better at explaining this than me. Basically it doesn't matter. You will be given some of the power Diane Reid possessed, it will provide you with the tools to apprehend the Fisher Kind and save Reid."

Hotch took another step towards Rose. "Then there is no point in further speculation. How do we begin?"

"Agent Hotchner will stand at the foot of the bed that I'd like the two women who have known him the longest to be the ones holding hands with him. Then I don't have any preference for the rest of the order."

"That's an even number," Hotch said. "What of you Agent Rose? Will you be joining?"

She looked taken aback. "I already have magic and I am not a member of the round table."

"But as King Arthur I can invite you to the table can't I?" Hotch said with more authority than he thought possible while referring to himself as a king. "I am inviting you to DC to join us at the round table to consult on cases as I respect your opinion as a distinguished agent."

Rose turned red. Morgan and Emily looked like they were trying not laugh at how well Hotch was taking on the mantle of king.

Rose gave a half curtsy. "Yes your majesty," she said. "Doing this will help bind the spell," she added quickly as brief smiles were exchanged among the team.

They all arranged themselves around Reid. Rose was at Hotch's side and Rossi was on the other. Hotch looked at the ring in Rose's hand apprehensively. "Is there any chanting required?"

She shook her head "none to my knowledge."

Hotch picked up the ring and put it on his left middle finger. He gasped and nearly fell to the floor. The magic was deep and intense it was as though his entire body engulfed in ecstasy. He felt couldn't hold onto the power and then remembered what he needed to do. He reached for the hands of teammates.

Rossi wasn't as deeply impacted as a result of age but still found the experience overwhelming as he saw the form of a beautiful young blond woman dressed in a white Grecian dress with flowers in her hair. She was smiling as she produced more flower from her fingertips and blew them into the air. It filled Rossi with inspiration.

Rose was genuinely terrified of the experience she didn't expect to have been joining them. But her vision of Diane was serene and warm. Her hair was knitted with flowers and she looked into her eyes and Rose could have sworn she said "you've done well."

Morgan met encountered Diane as a fierce ball of energy. She flitted through the trees and dared him to chase after her with her smiles. It filled Morgan adrenaline.

Emily found Diane to be contemplative. She sat on a rock braiding her hair and smiling as she produced flowers to tie the ends. Emily felt a kindred spirit within her and it filled her with fierce resolve.

J.J. found Diane dancing in a world of her own. She kicked up her bare feet as she performed elaborated spins. It almost reminded her of sister but for some reason she found it to be soothing. It filled her with compassion.

Garcia saw the most of Diane's magic as she was the one who always been inclined to believe in fanciful things. Diane showed her all sorts of magic involving forest creatures and dancing plant life. It filled Garcia with radiant hope.

Reid experienced all these sensations and enjoyed the visions of his mother. He felt as though he was becoming more alert. Like was waking up and swimming through a vast ocean to see the light. The bandages on his face began to dissolve away. He opened his eyes and for a brief moment they were a clad in traditional knight attire. Reid felt a burst of joy upon seeing them in real life. It hurt slightly but he managed to smile.

With a great final effort he looked at all of them and said: "My knights," and drifted into a peaceful sleep.
