Author's Note:

Thanks for the support! I have an actual book on the legends of King Arthur so I don't expect readers to get all my references. Excuse any missing words as I am writing this late.

Chapter Fourteen:

"Get down!" Morgan shouted as they approached them holding their guns.

J.J. Rose, and Prentis took cover in the kitchen. They could hear gun shots.

Morgan and Rossi joined them and suddenly their guns became swords.

The two men with short blond hair dressed in dark pinstripe suites appeared. "You are knights therefore you shall fight as knights." Their guns turned into swords also.

They began to fight through the open floor plan of the house. Five against two seemed like impossible odds. But the two men were highly skilled swordsmen and they cut Prentis hard so she had to run for cover. The match became two against four.

The rack containing cooking utensils slammed down on the island and nearly turned Rossi deaf. "Why are you doing this you? You maniacs!"

"We must defend our Order and you are intruding on his territory!" One them said imperiously and used his sword the swing a pan at Rossi.

J.J. intercepted it and swung it hard back. "Life is not territory!"

"Fisher King Values honor above all else wench!" the other one said and threw his sword at her heart.

Rose intercepted it and swung it into the ceiling. "No name calling!"

Morgan jumped and caught it and sliced it into the throat of the assailant. The other one aimed his blade and Morgan's neck but Rossi tackled him to the ground and his sword fell. J.J. grabbed it and aimed it at the man's throat as Rossi pinned him down.

"I will die before I surrender," he said and made a choking noise.

Rossi started resuscitation but the man's life quickly faded. He turned to Rose "Mythical poison pills?"

She nodded. "Basically."

Morgan was searching through the other man's pockets. "There is no ID on him"

"I doubt there is with the other one," Rose said.

"Soldiers for the Order of the Fisher King," Rossi said.

J.J. appeared Prentis. There was a gash across her arm. "It stopped bleeding a couple minutes ago. Is this the magic also?"

"Yes," Rose said. "It was akin to getting grazed by a bullet in this world."

Morgan just stared at them. "But they were chasing us with guns at first," Morgan said. "They wanted to lure us here. They killed a man just to trap or test us."

Rose was adjusting her bracelets. "There is little else to be done here. I am calling in a cleanup team. You don't want mortals to walk in on this."

"What about Emerin down stairs?" J.J. asked.

"Emerin is dead?" Morgan said.

"I'll leave a note for my M.E. about the body but we're taking the head."

"Why?" everyone else asked in unison.

"Well I think the Green Knight's statement might be useful," she said nonchalantly.

If Hotch had any concerns about bringing the deceased's head back to conference room for a statement he didn't let it show. Reid and Rose were only other ones in the room as the rest looked over what Garcia learned in the regular offices.

"How do we get it to speak agent Rose?" he asked as the bearded head was placed on the conference table for lack a better idea of where to put it.

"The Green Knight will talk when he is ready," she said.

Reid approached the head and bowed. "Oh Green Knight of the Wilderness of Wirral, holder of honor at the Green Chapel, I beg an audience."

The knight's eyes were green like emeralds. "I only speak to those who regard me with respect and not an oddity."

"Forgive my friends your lordship," he said. "This world is new to them and I shall see to it that they learn the right manners."

"I shall hold you to it young knight."

"We have some questions about how you came to this fate."

"It was by the way of the coward! From behind during my travels."

Hotch got on the level of the knight.

"You remember anything about the perpetrator?"

"It was a member of the Fisher King! They announced it at the top of their lungs upon slaying me!"

"Do you know why you were returned to your place of residence?"

"Because I refused to speak with them. I do not honor the requests of dark beings and cowards."

"We believe you were set there as a trap."

"Oh yes it was a trap. But they didn't expect so many of you I suspect. They also thought I would not speak with you."

"Why is that?"

"Because he thinks you do not take him or his lot seriously enough to abide by his code of honor."

Rose sighed. "So the Garner thinks we don't have manners."

Hotch looked to Emerin "Is that all sir?"

"He killed me to drain my energy as a medieval entity in your world."

Hotch looked mystified so Reid jumped in. "Every legend exists in some form because people believe it is real. The Loch Ness monster is real because people believe it is real. It takes a magical practitioner to kill an entity of magic. The legend will remain but the killer will absorb some of the energy."

"So Fisher King is killing representatives of magic built strength in his army."

"He has amassed a great deal but the scales are relatively even with you being knights with Dianna's ring," Emerin said and then he sighed.

"My own energy fades," he heaved "but I bid you luck in your quest to defeat those stole my life without honor for fear of failure."

The Green Knight breathed his last breath and died in front of them as his eyes rolled.

Hotch looked to Rose. "What will you do with his head?"

"Reattach and make up a story about a home invasion gone wrong," Rose said sadly. "A story is better than the truth in this case."

"As much as I dislike hiding things from the public I am afraid I have to agree with you."

Rose procured a case from thin air and placed the head in it. "I'll be back in few minutes," she said and left the room.

Reid approached Hotch. "What next?"

"We build a profile."
