Author's Note:
I kind of needed to write today as I was stuck in waiting room all day. Nothing to worry about. I was just bored.
Chapter 15:
They met in the map room with pen and paper out at an oval table. Hotch stood at the head.
"So let's review what we know about Garner's plans" he said. "We know from our recent confrontation he needs power. Something we didn't know before."
Reid spoke next. "He also thinks we don't respect the rules of chivalry."
"Which I don't understand," said Rose. "You guys know magic is real and the knighthood alone should have given you the ability to speak the 'tongue of the knights'"
Reid stared at the table. "Maybe he thinks we hadn't learned from Elle"
No one spoke for a moment.
"But we have," Hotch said authoritatively. "We know we need to either play by his rules or find better ways to subvert them."
"What is his next move then?" Morgan said.
"We make the next move," Hotch said. "We find a source of magic that he wants. Rose, I believe you said something about there being a black ring. Could the black ring be his grail?"
"That is a definite possibility," Rose said. "But I have been looking for that thing for ages."
"Let's see if we can try together," Hotch said. "Do you know of any ritual we can perform?"
Rose thought for a moment. "Nothing comes to mind that doesn't involve animal sacrifice."
"Then maybe Garcia can come up with something," Hotch said. "That will be your task."
"Yes sir," Garcia said, "I shall begin my search for the ring of Mordor"
"Actually that is actually heavily guarded in New Zealand. It was the first place I looked," Rose said.
Garcia worked hard to suppress a grin.
"Next we need to find out more about his followers," Hotch said.
Rossi spoke next. "They sound like a group of wizards who don't like the way things are being run right now."
Rose rolled her eyes. "Half the wizarding population has qualms with how the council is running things," she said "but I see your point."
"Are there any specific groups or gangs that come to mind?" Hotch asked.
"You should start with the Serpentine Sorcerers," Rose said. "Pull some people in for interrogation and it will get out that you are the Knights hunting the Fisher King."
"Then you, Morgan, and J.J. can go down to their location and pull some names."
Rose shook her head. "Not a good idea, my agents and I are too well-known down there."
"Then Reid you go instead and Rose you can help with the geographic profile."
"How many 'Serpentine Sorcerers' should we be expecting?" J.J. said.
"Not many," Rose said. "The headquarters I am sending you is a bar where the least demonic rituals are performed during the day."
Prentis rubbed her arm "Could this be another trap?"
"No because the bigger target is the Blood Leviathans but you don't want to fight them as they use the hard-core drugs to boost their powers. Going after them would be suicidal even for knights. There are also the Fire Chimeras who are weaker but you're better off going after a group in the middle," Rose said.
"Prentis you're still slightly wounded so you'll stay with me and we'll supervise the raid from here. And Rossi I want you to head up to field office to ask about any other missing person cases that might fit a similar profile to Emerin."
"And I'll have a team on stand-by," Rose said.
"Thank you. Let's get to work."
…
As they prepped for the raid Morgan asked about something that had been on his mind for a while.
Morgan checked his gun and flipped it into a sword to polish the grip.
"So Reid where you'd learn to fight like that?"
"It is called compulsory training for me," he said checking his own gun. "I gave up my magic but I still have some in me that will emerge if I have to defend myself from a purely mythical being. So one day a year I am summoned to the DC office to brush up on my skills."
"So during the days you when you said you were out and I thought that was your way of saying you had a meeting," Morgan said slowly.
Reid finished the sentence. "I was actually participating in training exercises."
"You really are good with this magical stuff."
"I don't regret giving it away at all." Reid looked Morgan in the eye. "Never. I am helping people by working at the BAU using my best skills. While I love my mother's magic, I love how her intelligence lives on in me more. Right now I can dissolve a door with my mind but I prefer to see you kick it in."
Morgan looked at him. Trying to get the words out.
"That means a lot to me kid," he said, patting him on the back.
"Thanks."
…
The Serpentine Sorcerers was located in the outskirts of the city. It looked like a biker bar from the outside with a snake theme. There was a 'closed' sign in the entrance.
When they knocked on the door it opened and spells shot out.
Morgan easily shielded the team and some of the spells bounced back harder at them.
"We are the knights, and you're under arrest," Morgan said.
A bald man with snake tattoos that move around his face smiled. "And I'm the queen of England." He shot out another spell with his wooden wand."
Rossi used his sword to angle the spell at glasses hanging from the ceiling. The glass shattered like rain. Three more men appeared with guns and wands.
Rossi, J.J. and Morgan raised their swords and shields but Reid walked through with his hands in the air.
"Guys we can fight and my team can apprehend you or we can talk and we will only take the person who shot at Agent Sir Morgan into custody."
The bald sorcerer stepped up closer to him. "Why would I agree to that Sir Twig?"
"Because the Blood Leviathans are already members of the Order of the Fisher King and a knight bringing you in would make you appealing to the order."
"What makes you think I want part of that Order?"
"Because I am going to make this same offer to the Fire Chimeras and you don't want the Chimeras to be associated with biggest most dangerous order in town."
The snakes danced around his face as he smirked. "You win," he said. "I could use a break from the heat."
Morgan pulled out special handcuffs and fitted them on him. "What's your name?"
"Morgan Lefay."
"Seriously?"
"I'll tell you more once you pull me out of here," he said with a smirk.
