Chapter Twenty-one:

Rose got to her feet first.

"Reid no!"

Reid held black clouds in his hands. He drank in the power.

"Rose, I can see everything! I am the son of Diana Mordred" he shouted. "I can find a cure for her schizophrenia. I can save lives. It is all so beautiful!"

Hotch stumbled towards Reid.

"You can't do this Reid. You know it is wrong."

Reid willed the clouds around Hotch.

"Hotch, I can save Hailey. I can save Hailey and you can be a family again!"

Hotch only moaned as tears fell down his face.

Morgan hobbled forward and raised sword.

"Snap out of it kid!"

Reid used the clouds to knock the sword out of his hand.

"Don't you get it Morgan? I can do anything! I can prevent Buford from harming you."

Morgan fell to his knees and let out a howl as the clouds consumed him. Reid turned next to J.J.

"Your sister doesn't have to die."

She tried to run but was pulled back. Rossi ran towards him while was occupied with Prentis. Reid spun.

"Prentis you don't have to wear that tattoo. Rossi I can save your late wife. I can save everyone!"

Lefay turned his attention to Garner and grabbed sword from the ground. He aimed it at Garner's heart but he only fell to the ground. Garner smiled.

"You're no ancestor of Le Fay."

Reid's snaking clouds grabbed Lefay. "I can even save your little baby Angeline."

Rose watched in horror and felt in her mythical sense that he was acting upon his word. Reality was warping. What Reid couldn't feel was how much damage his actions were causing the world. Garner was winning. She needed to try something drastic.

Rose sliced her throat with her sword. Reid instantly healed it and wrapped her in clouds of darkness.

"I can give you what you want too Rose," he said happily. "I'll get you the respect you deserve."

Rose could see a big office with a mythical phone and the next room resembling secretary's office. She felt tears come down.

"But that isn't what I want."

"Then what do you want Rose? I can find it for you."

"No."

"Then I'll find it myself," he said with a hint of anger his voice.

Rose realized the meaning behind Merlin's gift. Her fresh alertness gave her the strength to put up mythical walls.

Reid roared with rage but Rose remained still. She concentrated on the blackness of the clouds. She could hear whimpering and realized it was Hotch.

"Somebody help me!" he cried. "I want her back so much but I know I can't."

"Hotch!" Rose shouted still focusing on the clouds.

"What do I do Rose?"

Rose kept thinking of how Arthur was Merlin's champion. She could feel the walls around her desire weakening.

"Be King Arthur!" she shouted.

The walls fell around her deepest desire. Her desire was something that had mostly eluded him: True love. Rose could feel him floundering as he tried to discover a suitable match.

It gave Hotch the opening to come to his senses.

"Reid you can't do this," Hotch said authoritatively.

"I can do anything I want," he shouted as he pulled away from Rose and she was able to see again.

"You can't anymore. Reid you're fired."

The clouds fell and the team rose from their stupor. Reid's eyes filled with tears.

"Hotch no!"

Rose realized Reid's greatest desire was to be part of a family. Without that he was powerless.

Reid pulled of the ring threw it to the ground. He fell to his knees.

"I'm so sorry," he whimpered.

Hotched stepped forward and tapped on him on both shoulders with Excabibur.

"I forgive you so long as you don't it again."

"I promise as your knight."

The team breathed collective sigh of relief and rushed to hug him. Rose waved her hand over the ring and it returned its original vault except this time with a mythical lock only Rose had the key to.

Lefay was watching Garner. He had witnessed the whole scene with a look of disgust on his face. Garner suddenly let forth a sound of pure rage. It mural cracked the ground trembled. The battle was far from over.
