Everyone gathered in the hall waiting for the next match which is between Hanzo and Gon. Gon and Hanzo walk towards the center of the hall. Once in the center they face each other, and prepare themselves.

"My name is Masta and I will be the referee for the second match. It is an honor. Best of luck" Masta seriously states. I will forget his name later.

"Hey, good to see you again. You were tailing me during the fourth phase." Hanzo obnoxiously states, trying to divide those with less experience to those who have.

"You noticed?"

"Naturally… I'm assuming that each applicant was assigned an examiner for the fourth phase. Well I'm sure that everyone else noticed." Ok maybe he's just weird.

I know Killua did and Killua knows that I did. I look up at Kurapika and Leorio.

Kurapika merely looks up to Leorio, oh my gosh I've gotten used to calling him Leorio and not pervert. "I thought it wasn't worth mentioning." So those two teamed up together in the fourth round.

"Y-yeah…" He panics a bit, he didn't notice. He suddenly see me looking at him and turn his attention to me "Did you notice?"

"Yeah, we played hide and seek. Except they kept getting back up to look for me. They were really bad at hide and seek they even had a…" Damn what was it called, I think for a moment. "well they even had a device to help them, I won. It was funny though they were searching the area like headless chickens, one in particular. The backup he called were all yelling saying 'how did you lose a her?' 'What do you mean you can't find her?' 'Why the hell did you have to call for back up?' It was fun." Kurapika and Leorio looks at me shocked. In attempt to hide my giggles and turn my attention to Killua, he looks pissed, I guess he still angry about Gon supposedly having more potential.

"You have my thanks. My rank was higher because your reports on me was accurate. Though the outcome was never in doubt." Hanzo brags. I don't need to pay attention to this match so I turn to Killua again.

"Can you beat him?" He looks shocked for a moment, but looks at Hanzo then at me again.

"He may pose a challenge but I would at least match him though I should be above him in skills."

I nod. "I would rip his voice box out first or and least do some damage so he would shut up. You?"

"With or without killing him?"

"Hmmm… Without."

"I would aim for the ligaments around his arms and legs to disable him. I will then dislocate them to secure that he can't move. If he doesn't give up then"

"Ahh! I forgot he needs his voice box to give up or at least a voice. I wouldn't be able to attack his voice box." I mutter sadly.

Killua looks at me and chuckles. Before we can continue the match begins. As soon as it does, Gon leaps past Hanzo. Gon has underestimated his opponent. Hanzo merely looks at him for a moment then, being faster than Gon, swiftly catches up with him.

"You must be confident in your legs. You have my respect." He stops and hits the back of Gons neck.

"This competition is a force of will not really in strength. I can only assume that's why Gon ranks higher than us. His will is stronger than ours." Killua looks shocked, then he gains a thoughtful expression. He looks back at Gon but it is no longer as cold as before.

"well, this would already be over if were a normal fight…" Hanzo states coldly above Gon. He sits Gon up to awaken him, he pushes his knee into his spine. "You must feel terrible. I hit you hard enough to make your brain bounce around. Do you understand? You have no chance against me. Might as well as give up now… "

I look at the match knowing that this is Gon's fight can't interfere.

"NO way.." Gon manages to get out. Hanzo slaps his head, as if to knock that thought out. Not that it would.

"Think about it. If you surrender now, you'll still be in decent shape for the next fight." He does raise a good point. "There's no reason to be stubborn. Just surrender." I sigh at the thought.

"Never going to happen!" Gon shouts. Gon is really stubborn which he proved in the second exam. Hanzo hits him again. I sigh. Gon is going to get beat up. I sit down on the ground.

The others look at me. "This is going to take a while. Gon is stubborn. I might as well as sit. There's less of a chance of me suddenly interfering as well if I'm sat down as well." I look up at Kurapika then Leorio, after all they are more likely interfering. "This is Gon's fight. He maybe outmatched. But this is more of a battle of wills than anything." I sit calmly.

I watch Hanzo outclass Gon.

After 3 hours Leorio gets annoyed with Hanzo and goes to interfere. However the referee interfere.

"No one may interfere in a one-on-one match. And if you step in, Gon will be the one disqualified!" he sternly announce.

Leorio shakes in anger probably in with the whole tournament and feeling useless. He is friends with Gon yet he is unable to do a single thing to help Gon even though he is being beaten up right in front of him. Though the ref did the right thing in threatening by Gon being disqualified, if he threatened Leorio's then I think he would of interfered. Since he knows Gon is willing to be beaten up for something he truly believes in, he truly wants to be a hunter, this is resolve. I won't them insult his resolve.

"It's okay…" Gon shakily lets Leorio know. I watch him slowly stand up. he looks like a deer who just found its legs. "Leorio. This is…" he wheezes. "nothing…" he struggles to lift his head to look at Leorio. "I-I can still fight…" Hanzo easily knocks one of Gon's legs out from supporting him.

Hanzo looks annoyed and inpatient. He bends down grabs Gon left arm and places his other arm on Gon's back. I dig my nail into the floor.

"I'm going to break your arm." He calmly states.

"I'm not joking around, so give up. Surrender." Hanzo's eyes are cold.

I look at Gon's eyes which look conflicted, panic, and finally see them harden in resolve.

"Never!" He shouts to show his resolve. I watch as Hanzo breaks his arm, my nails clench tearing into the floor. Though I do notice that he broke it cleanly. That's nice of him, not only will it heal easier, but it will become stronger.

Gon holds his arm in pain, he holds in any pained screams or any tears.

"He really broke his arm." Arrows says, did he doubt him?

"There you go. You can't use your left arm anymore." Hanzo tells Gon.

I notice Leorio's clenched teeth and tight fist. I calmly stand up ready to interfere.

"Kurapika, don't try to stop me." Leorio seems to want to interfere. I glance at Kurapika and sigh in disbelieve. His eyes are red, "If that bastard does anything else to Gon… Sorry, Gon, but I can't stop myself."

"Me? Stop you? Don't worry. There is no chance of that happening."

"Me however, I will." I stand in front of them. I stance is relaxed and I'm standing sideways so I can watch Gon's match and keep an eye on them.

"I won't let you insult Gon's resolve." I calmly but threatening tell them. My eyes darken with my mood. "Don't worry if you interfere I won't kill you. But keep in mind there are worse things than death."

"I'm sure you're in too much pain to listen, but hear me out." He places a hand on the floor, right in front of Gon. "I am descended from the shinobi, a clan of covert agents." He lifts himself up, doing a one handed handstand. He is straight, his free arm is folded on his back as to not disturb his balance.

"From the day I was born, I was forced to endure harsh training in order to master the art of ninpo. For eighteen years, I have trained my body and technique without rest. By the time I was your age, I had already killed a man."

I look back at the others, head tilted in curiously. "Is that normal?"

"No." Is the calm response from Killua.

"Oh so people have their first kill sooner?" I ask innocently.

"It isn't normal for people to kill people!" Leorio yells.

"Oh. Is his training supposed to be impressive? It hasn't amounted to much. "

"Nah." Killua has his hands crossed behind his head. "Though it is intense to some, but compared to my family's training it weak. Yours?"

"Physically, he is strong. A bit slow though, strength not sure, all his stances and moves are committed to muscle memory. However he is predictable. He is also lacking in other areas. For a human he isn't that bad, but wouldn't last three days amongst my Sensei's. He would be tasty though, maybe I should bring them a snack."

Killua looks sick at the thought. Leorio laughs nervously and Kurapika is staring at me. I blink and tilt my head.

"Did I say something wrong?"

"Yes!" Leorio, and Killua shouts.

"Oh." I tilt my head again. I think for a moment. "What?"

"You can't talk about dragging people to your sensei's! And them giving their body to them to EAT!"

"Ohhh. But I don't like him. But Gon wouldn't want me to kill him, so I thought I could give him to sensei. After sensei killed him he would eat him. After all waste not. Its good food why not eat it?"

Leorio and Kurapika stare at me horrified, whilst Killua slaps his face. What did I do? I tilt my head.

"I wasn't supposed to say that out load was I?"

"No." Killua groans, he sounds tired.

"Oh...Ok."

I turn back to the match just in time to see Hanzo now doing a handstand using only his finger. And to see his mouth open to say something, was he talking the whole time we were? I then see Gon suddenly kick Hanzo's head. Knocking him away.

"Ow…"Gon whimpers. Damn Gon must of knocked his already broken arm. "Damn it! My head's cleared a bit, after all the pain and that long explanation."

"Yes!" Leorio cheers "Gon, go! Kick him while he's down!" he's still pissed I see. Kurapika brightens next to him, obviously cheered up after witnessing his two friends.

"If you're eighteen, you're only six years older than I'm." Why do I get the feeling that he has been around a lot of older woman. "Besides, this isn't a battle to see who's stronger. It's to see who surrenders first."

Hanzo pushes himself up and "I let you kick me on purpose." He makes a fool out of himself. Saying that with a bloody nose is not convincing.

"Liar!" Leorio voices out my thoughts.

"You don't understand. This isn't a warning. It's a ultimatum." He clears the bloods from his face. With eyes closed but senses sharp. "Was it too hard for you to understand? Then I'll make it easier for you." I notice his hand reaching for his wrist. Damn, not good he's reaching for a weapon. This means this fight is drawing to a close. One way or another this match will end soon.

He pulls out a thin blade. "I'll cut off your legs, so that they can't be reattached." He swings his blade once it is at its full length.

"A permanent injury should help wake you up. But first, I'll ask you once more. " He brings up his blade and look reasonably scary. It is a good threat I admit. "Surrender." He isn't expecting to go through this threat. He is threatening in a similar manor to when he broke his arm. Since he kept up to his last threat it seems serious to most. He doesn't want to remove his legs he is just tired of this exam and wants it to end.

Gon looks determined. I sigh yeh, I feel sorry for Hanzo. I look at Hanzo in apologetic manor and step away from Kurapika already knowing what is to come. Gon is stubborn and innocent. That is a mix that is terrible in such a competition.

"I won't accept that!" Right on cue, Gon's outrageous declaration. I look around to see everyone shocked to the core. Even Hisoka and Gittarackur. I snigger at their faces. Hanzo's face is the best.

I start laughing at them openly. "You're faces. Killua look." I start pointing at them. He looks to and sniggers too.

"I don't want my legs cut off, but I don't want to surrender." I notice Hanzo has sweat dropped at this. "So let's find a different way to fight!"

Hanzo's anger erupts. "Hey… Do you understand your own situation?!" everyone's starts chuckling now at the sudden release of tension and finding the whole situation humorous. "You don't get to make demands! Are trying to insult me?! I'm seriously going to cut off your legs!" his blade swings as he talks. Yeh Gon has really pissed him off.

"But I still will not surrender. Besides, if you do that. I'll bleed to death. He'll be disqualified if that happens, right?"

The referee looks put out but answers anyway. "Oh, yes."

"See? Neither of us wants that to happen. So let's think of a better way." I have my head in my head in hands this situation is too weird. I half expected but still it is so odd.

Hanzo makes his move. He places the tip of the blade at Gon's forehead. "You really don't get it… If you die, you'll never get another chance. If I kill you here, I need only try again next year. We are not on equal footing!"

Hanzo is pissed he has spent the whole challenge trying to show the difference between the two in strength. Gon has been weak. So he's annoyed but the sudden change in atmosphere that he had created, the atmosphere he is used to fighting in.

I notice Kurapika and Leorio tense. I look at them and tense also. I won't let them interfere.

Gon's bright resolved filled eyes stare into Hanzo's. His eyes must crack the resolve left in Hanzo since he asks "Why won't you concede? It's easy to do." This signifies his defeat so I relax. "You can try again next year. You value your pride more than your life?!" The last statement is an attempt to gain his resolve again but knowing Gon he will break him now. "You willing to die for your pride?!"

"I'm going to find my dad."

"You're dad?"

My dad is a hunter. So I'm going to become a hunter and find him! I believe that I will find him one day. But I feel that if I give up now I'll never find him! So I won't surrender."

"If you don't yield you'll die…" he threatens. But I can tell it is empty.

After a moment he removes his blade from Gon and places it back where it belongs.

"I give. You win." Hanzo declares. Gon looks speechless actually so does Kurapika and Leorio. I turn to Killua who looks equally speechless.

"I can't kill you. But I can't think of a way to make you surrender. I'll take this loss and take my chances in the next battle!"

"I can't accept that." I sigh. Stubborn. "That's not fair!" I notice that Hanzo is pissed again. "We both have to think of a way to settle this fight!"

"Heh, I knew you would say that." I see him angry again and faces at Gon to yell at him. "You fool! There's no point, because you'll never surrender!"

"But I don't want to win like this!" Gon shouts back.

"What am I supposed to do?"

"We can work together to figure it out!" Hanzo stands back up and look down at Gon again.

"In other words, I've already given up this match, but you want me to try to win again, while helping you to determine a way to make you feel good about your victory! Is that right"

Gon visually brightens, oh this isn't good. "Uh-huh!"

"You moron." Hanzo pissed off, I can't blame him. He punches Gon so hard he is knocked out, he deserved that. "Hey, ref. I lose. Let's move onto the next match."

That would be me. I look at Hisoka, to see that he is looking at me as well. I look at him in the eyes and see he wants to fight but also not looking forwards to it.

I notice Killua looking at me. I then feel the added looks of Leorio and Kurapika. I then feel the glances of everyone else.

"Don't worry. If it get too much to handle I will give up." I look around and see the disbelieve on everyone's faces. I roll my eyes. "I don't really have a motive to want to be a hunter. So I will give up if it does become too much, if I don't want to be a hunter why would I risk my life. I just want to have a bit of fun after all."

We get dismissed to have our break again. Once we come back, I get to fight.
