(Author's Note: This is reeeeaaaally short, but it was cute, and at you're getting an update, so consider yourselves lucky! Haha! Also, I just want to mention that Rose will be refered to as Rosie for most of this. It's not that big of a deal, but since she's technically an OC and she was introduced in the last chapter as Rose, I wanted to clarify that.

Standard disclaimers apply. I own nothing but my own imagination.)

The crying almost didn't wake Katherine that time. She'd spent the last three weeks waking up to the crying of the twins, sometimes several times a night, sending her trudging to the makeshift nursery that they had set up in the only spare room left in the apartment; those cries hardly even registered anymore. She swore, the first time both of them slept through the night would be a miracle. She sat up slowly, only really half awake, but Jack stopped her, having already gotten out of bed.

"Go back to sleep Ace," he murmured, and pressed his lips to her temple, "I've got it." Without even giving Katherine a chance to argue, he was gone, off to calm whichever child had decided to begin screaming their head off in the middle of the night. She breathed a sigh of relief, and closed her eyes, listening to the wailing getting softer and softer until it subsided completely.

She might have fallen asleep again, but she started to get worried when Jack remained absent for quite some time after the cries had been quieted. He hadn't been very successful in getting either one of them to sleep in the past few weeks, so the fact the he was still gone worried her. She hoped he wasn't having any trouble, but she didn't want him to think she didn't trust him either, so she waited. A good ten minutes later, Katherine gave up and got out of bed to go see what the matter was. She stopped herself though, just hovering in the doorway, when she saw her husband cradling Rosie in his arms, looking prouder than she'd ever seen.

"You're a wonderful father." He turned around to face her, beaming.

"I got her to fall asleep! I thought I was gonna have to come get you, but I did it." Jack was like a child who had just tied his shoes for the first time. Katherine draped her arms around his shoulders, and peered down at their sleeping daughter.

"Our Rosie is a lot like you, ya know," Jack whispered, a lopsided grin spreading across his face.

"Really?"

"Yeah. She's headstrong. And persistent. And she's cute even when she's angry," he laughed quietly. Katherine tried, unsuccessfully, to hold back a fond smirk.

"Shut up Jack."

"What? It's true!"

"I'm serious, you're going to wake Rosie again," she chuckled under her breath. He shot her a look that constituted an apology, keeping his mouth shut. The last thing they needed was for Rosie to wake up again and start crying.

Probably with that thought in mind, Jack put the sleeping child back in her cradle, and the two of them stepped out the door, relieved. The latch hadn't even clicked shut before suddenly, Michael woke up and started screaming. Katherine and Jack just looked at each other in disbelief.

It was going to be a long night.

(Please leave some reviews, and hopefully that will inspire me to get some more chapters written! Seriously, your reviews and ideas motivate me to write and update so much! I'm also trying to work on a couple of prompts tht have been sent in recently, so if you proposed an idea to me, and you haven't seen it yet, don't worry. I might be working on it now.

Sorry this one was so short!

Much love,
