Chapter 9: The Beginning

"So you're finally all awake." Luffy observed.

"Were are we?" Sabo asked.

"My mind."

"Wow I always knew your mind was empty but this…" Ace was saying till Luffy punched.

"Joking, joking it was to easy I had to." Ace defended.

"Yeah whatever anyway I'm about to start. Ace Sabo you might see things you've forgotten you gonna be okay?" Luffy asked.

"Yeah." They both replied.

"And you'll probably see things you don't want to either, will you be okay?" she asked the commanders.

"Yeah." The nodded.

"Alright one more thing, what you'll be see are just memories they've already happened and there's nothing you can do but watch okay. Don't waste your energy." She said getting a round of nods.

"Okay than lets get started." She said and suddenly they were engulfed in a bright light.

"Wawawaw!" came the cries of a new born baby he was small with dark eyes, hair and freckles splashed across his face.

"Is is that me." Ace asked shocked.

"Yep. You were so cute." Luffy told the blushing Ace.

"So so that's my mom." Ace said mentioning the women cradling.

"Congratulations Rogue, but you've held the baby longer than humanly possible its put a strain on you body, you won't make it." The doctor said.

"Yeah I know." She said with a smile on her face as she hugged Ace closer to her. "But he's safe and that's all that matters.

"You have a visitor should I let him in?"

"Yes go ahead." In came a thud.

"Garp, so you've come. What do you plan on doing?" Rogue asked.

"Child should not have to be punished for his fathers sins, I will take care of him, and keep him safe. I promised Roger." Garp said.

"What Roger?" Thatch asked as he looked over at Ace who flinched under his gaze, but didn't responded he just stared at the memory with tears in his eyes. 'Mom.'

"Have you thought of a name for him yet?" Garp asked,

"I have. His name shall be Gol D. Ace." She said bringing the baby closer to her face to place a kiss on his check. "I love you Ace." With those as her final words her world slowly faded to darkness and Garp quickly but gently took baby Ace from her limp arms and into his and the memory faded.

At this point Ace was crying silently.

"You okay Ace?" Sabo asked.

"Why would she do this for me? Why did she die for me? I have the blood of a demon flowing threw my veins." Ace mumbled.

"Ace that's not true don't listen to those twisted marines, and the ignorance of the world. You are you like Garp said, a child should not be punished for his fathers sins." Thatch said.

"You're not mad, wasn't my my father you're captains enemy?" Ace asked confusion filled in those big black eyes.

"They weren't enemies they were rivals, who held a great respect for each other. They even partied together yoi." Marco explained.

"Alright to the next memory I'm only showing the ones that have significance alright so we won't see all of us being born, I only showed Ace's because I wanted him to see he was loved when he came in to this world, and I'll show you mine otherwise you won't know my family at all." She said.

"Got it." Sabo said.

"Alright Ace, I'm sorry but we can't stay long I have to get you to East Blue where you'll be safe." Garp said using his coat to cover his right arm, and baby Ace, so no one would notice him on the marine ship and with that the memory faded again.

"Hmm I've never seen Gramps, be so gentle." Ace mused.

"Yeah." Thatch agreed.

"Ace you were so small." Luffy said.

"Shut up, we were probably smaller."

"We'll see."

"So he's talking you to Dadan as a baby?"

"Yeah."

"Who's Dadan?"

"You'll see." Chimed Luffy.

The memory farmed around them again, and now they saw Garp walking to a bar in a sleepy village with Baby Ace in his arms.

"Ah it's the Party bar, we get to see Makino!" Luffy said happily.

"Hello Makino."

"Garp, you're back." Makino smiled.

"Yep just came to say hey before I head off to the mountains."

"What brings you back so early?"

"I came to bring back my Grandson, see isn't he cute." Garp said hold Ace out to Makino.

"Oh he's adorable, he's not Dragon's is he?"

Ace blushed at the comment while Sabo and Luffy, giggled.

"No."

"So you're taking him to live with Dadan?" she asked.

"Yeah, that way he can remain safe and hidden, the government won't here from him if he stays in the forest." Garp answered and the memory faded again.

"That explains so much." Sabo said.

"Alright now we can see Dadan ten years younger, do you think she looks like a women?" Luffy asked.

"I think she'll look the same as always." Ace said.

The memory came back and we could see Garp walking up a mountain path with baby Ace and stop when he came out to a run down shack.

"Don't tell me…" Thatch started.

"You lived here, and Dadan is a mountain bandit yoi." Marco asked incredulously.

"Yep and yep." Ace answered.

Garp started banging on the door and then some she man with orange hair opened yelling WHAT! But after talking one look at Garp she apologized and started kissing his feet.

"Garp-san what can I do for you?" She asked politely.

"Take care of my Grandson." Garp said handing over baby Ace to Dadan like a sack of potatoes.

Ace's jaw went slack as he watched this, "Huh?" and Sabo face palmed while Luffy laughed the commanders looked like Ace.

"Huh? You can't be serious, you want bandits to take care of a baby!" Dadan asked/ yelled.

"Yeah." Garp said.

"Why can't you look after him, he's your grandchild?" Dadan asked.

"Because if Sengoku finds out that Ace is Rogers son, he'll kill him for sure, with you he's safe."

"He did not just tell her, that easily." Ace said in shock.

"Relax Ace it's Garp what do you expect." Sabo said.

"What do you think this is a daycare? Wait a minute he's Rogers! Gol D Roger's you want me to take care of a Demon child!" She said.

"She doesn't seem very caring, what was Garp thinking." Thatch groaned.

"Are you out of your mind!" She continued.

"Huh?" Garp glared.

"I mean we'd love to look after the little mon no angel." She said with a smile and Garp nodded before leaving.

"Can't believe it our first meeting and she already thinks I'm a monster." Ace said in mock hurt as the memory ended.

"Alright next memory." Luffy said.

"Wawawawawa" Cried Baby Luffy.

"Dragon I'm sorry but we did everything we could, but your wife wasn't strong enough to survive the pregnancy, but we were successful in saving your twins." The doctor said passing two babies into his arms. They could see Dragon shed a few tears, and the smile at the babies. "Don't worry Rose I'll make sure That Monkey D. Rein and Monkey D. Luffia stay safe. Even if it means asking for my fathers help." He said hugging Rein and Luffia in his arms.

"Woah woah woah, hold on a sec, you have a twin?" Ace questioned.

"Yeah." Luffy said with a small smile. "We were so close growing up, no one could tear us apart, we were the best of friends." She said her eyes distant.

"Where is he now?" Sabo asked.

"With my father." At the mention of her father, the commanders finally snapped out of their shock.

"You father is Dragon, the leader of the revolutionaries yoi."

"Yep. Just Like Ace I have "Demon Blood" running through my veins to, but it didn't affect me like Ace because I had Rein growing up." She said with a smile.

"Wow I never would have guessed, don't tell me you father is another big shot?" Namur asked Sabo who looked away.

"No well yes but not like theirs my father is an actual demon in human skin but he's not recognized like that by they world government." Sabo said.

"You'll see soon Namur."

"Oh Great." Sabo said voice dripping with sarcasm.

"Alright Garp It's really crucial that I complete these mission. I'll come back for them when they turn three, for now I want you to look after them." Dragon said. "And try not to kill them their newborns." Dragon added.

"So he was warned." Luffy grumbled.

"Yeah yeah I'll have Makino look after them for you, but it won't be long till the government catches wind of them." Garp warned.

"Yeah I know, I'll think of something for when they find out." With that the memory skipped with Garp back at Makino's Bar.

"Hello Garp welcome back." Makino greeted.

"Hey, Meet Rein and Luffia, my Grandkids." Garp said causing the ones watching to sweat drop.

"Oh their so cute, twins, are they Dragon and Roses?" Makino asked.

"Yep, but Rose didn't survive the pregnancy, Would you mind looking after them?" He asked.

"Sure." Makino said talking Luffia from his arms and going upstairs with Garp behind her and then the memory faded.

"Why does Garp treat Makino differently?" Thatch asked.

"We don't know." Sabo answered. "Maybe because she's nice, and he has nothing to blackmail her with."

"Alright Sabo, you next."

"Great. Just don't judge me until after you see everything." Sabo said.

"Sabo Sabo we have a present for you Sabo." Came the snobby voice of a women.

"Oh no." Sabo groaned.

"What's wrong who is that?" Namur asked.

"Sorry Namur really." he answered.

A five year old Sabo game into view, wearing a huge grin.

"What is it?" Sabo asked looking excited.

"It's your first Slave." She answered. "You're father bought it for you."

"Slave? What's that?" Sabo asked smile clearly full of innocence that the current Sabo has lost.

"A slave is something that belongs to you, and has to do everything you say." The mother explained as they walked down a very long expensive looking hall.

"A slave?" Namur asked. "Sabo?" he looked over at Sabo to see him glaring at the memory, with his fist clenched.

The pair went down to a dark, cold dungeon.

"Mother, I don't like it down here." Sabo said as he looked around. He could here sickening screams, and the smell of blood was strong.

"God! Why does it smell like blood?" Thatch asked.

"Because it smelled like blood in the memory, the only thing this technique doesn't affect is our taste and feeling, other than that, we can hear, see, and smell everything." Luffy explained.

"Okay one more question Sabo you're a noble yoi."

"By birth yes, after all you can't choose your parents." Sabo said bitterly.

"Get over it Sabo these are the screams of trash you don't have to concern yourself with them." His mother said.

"You would think like that." Sabo growled.

"And the rest narrowed their eyes in disgust as they watched the memory.

Little Sabo looked unsure but continued on anyway. Till they saw a man up ahead wear a smile on his face.

"Ah Sabo my boy I got you something fun to play with."

"Father." Sabo replied.

"Come look in here we're almost done training him.

Luffy trembled as she looked at the memory.

"Luffy you okay?" ask Aced.

"Fine." Luffy stuttered.

The commanders noticed Sabo look at her with pity before he continued to glare at the memory. Seemed he knew something that Ace didn't.

The memory continued and the family of three walked into the room where the smell of blood grew stronger, making little Sabo gag. His eyes widened when they landed a boy that looked about seventeen years old. He was stripped naked and he was covered with gashes, and bruises.

"Mother, Father he's injured!" Sabo said alarmed and his parents just chuckled.

"You don't need to worry Sabo he's just worthless trash he'll be fine. In any case this is your new toy, he's eaten a zoan fruit and can turn into a lion."

"Zoan fruit? Lion?" He asked tilting his head to the side. A small whimper came from the boy as one of the guards, released him from his shackles but kept the collar around his neck.

"My God." Thatch said as he watched.

"It gets worse." Sabo said.

"What's that collar around his neck?" Sabo asked.

"That is a bomb collar. It'll explode if it goes against us." Sabo's mother said. "Now why don't you take your new toy to the garden and play, for a while." She said leaving Sabo in there all alone with the slave, but not before clipping a leash on to the collar and handing it to Sabo.

"A leash? Hey are you okay?" Sabo said dropping the leash to the ground and kneeling next to the boy.

"What do you think it was you people that did this to me!" Came the bitter response.

"What?" asked a confused Sabo.

"I was forcefully taken from my home shoved into a steal cage, where I was bought by your parent, and tortured in this prison, to be you pet." He answered venom dripping off his words.

"So you aren't trash right? You're a human right? After all you look like one?" Sabo asked. "Maybe mother and father are just confused. Maybe that's why they keep calling you trash.

"Are you sure you're a noble." Asked the boy.

"That's what my parents say." Sabo answered.

"Listen nobles don't care for anyone but themselves. Especial world nobles like you." He said.

"World Noble!" Shouted the commanders. "You've got to be kidding." Even Marco wore a look of disbelief.

"Yeah yeah I'm nothing but scum, I know."

"What do you mean?" asked Sabo.

"I mean, they all go around acting like they're better than everybody else and they go buying other people, and killing them like it's some kind of game. I swear you make me sick." He said.

"I don't get it why? Why are they doing this? So everyone here was kidnapped." Sabo asked a looked of horror came across his face.

"Yep, pretty much."

"That means my family is evil." Sabo explained. "You're saying they know what their doing is wrong?"

"To be honest I don't know what's going through their head, they might not think they're doing anything wrong at all, but what do you think? Do you think what they did to me and everyone else here is right or wrong?"

"It's wrong of course! Don't worry I'll do everything I can to get you free." Sabo said.

"What?" The boy was obviously surprised. "What's your name kid."

"I'm Sabo." Sabo smiled.

"I'm Ren it's nice to meet you."

"Hmm?"

"What?"

"Let's go get you some cloths." Sabo suggested and the man blushed. "And I'll also take you to the nurse.

And with that the memory faded.

"Wow I would never have guessed." Namur said.

"Yeah, but that's impressive Sabo you didn't get corrupted at all." Thatch said.

"Yeah well, I'm not an idiot like the world nobles, but I was way to naïve back them, and because of that I kept getting hurt." Sabo said.

The memory came back and this time there was a five year old Ace, he was fighting a boar.

"Why are you fighting a boar?" Thatch asked.

"Lunch." Ace answered with a shrug. "Kids gotta eat to.

"Doesn't Dadan feed you yoi?" All he received as an answer was a snort.

After Ace killed the Boar, he picked it up and brought it back to Dadan's hut.

"How strong are you?" Asked Thatch, "You look five here."

"I am five here." Ace replied.

"Dadan I brought dinner." He said before walking about into the forest he was jumping over crocodile's and climbing up dangerous mountains, all to get to a dump.

"What is this place?" Namur asked.

"Grey Terminal, it's where all the nobles in Goa Kingdom dump their trash." Sabo explained.

"What are you doing here?" Thatch asked.

"I'm going to Low town." Ace answered monotonously.

Just as he said it we saw Ace sneak his way into the lower levels of Goa Kingdom.

"Hey why are you going into a bar, that's dangerous especially when the sun is setting and it's filled with drunks." Thatch said.

Ace walked into the bar and walked over to a group of drunks.

"Oi what would happen if Gold Roger had a kid?" Ace asked

"Huh? What would happen if Gold Roger had a kid? Ain't It obvious? He'd be beheaded, no doubt about it!"

"Nah just beheading him wouldn't be enough for me! How about sticking one needle in him for every person in the world with a grudge against Rodger?"

"No why don't we burn him half to death first? Then we can make all the criminals in the world see what he looked like before he dies?"

"Great Idea!" The drunkards cheered.

"And then everyone'd say "Serves you right!" They laughed.

"His last words should be something like this: I'm so sorry I was born! I'm just garbage!"

"Well it's not like he could have a kid anyway!" The onlookers watched at Ace glared up and them, clenching his fists before going to beat up everyone in the bar.

"Those jerks!" Namur sad.

"They don't even know Roger and they keep on talking. Don't listen to them Ace!" Thatch said. Making Ace smile a little.

"You okay Ace?" Luffy asked.

"Yeah."

The scene then skipped to Ace staring at the ocean on the side of a cliff, all bandaged up.

"Ace you caused another incident in town?!" Dadan yelled from behind him. "Man! Don't go causing trouble for me all the time! Hey are you listening to me Ace!"

"Shut it, Dadan!"

"What?!"

"If was strong enough… I would have slaughter them all!"

"Dark thoughts for a 5 year old." Thatch muttered.

"They deserved it." Ace retorted.

Time skipped again and Ace was sitting at the same cliff this time Garp came up behind.

"What are you doing here Gramps?" Ace said.

"I heard you've been causing trouble in town." Garp answered. "Don't worry I can't stay long this time." He continued taking a seat behind Ace.

"Gramps?"

"What?"

"Was it good that I was born?" little Ace said with a blank stare.

Garp looked thoughtful before answering, "Well as long as you're alive you'll figure it out someday."

"Ace." The commanders whispered.

"So did you find the answer yet?" Sabo asked. "If you say no I'll kill you." Ace chuckled before responding, "Yes I have thanks to you and Luffy, I found it awhile ago." Ace said with a smile.

The memory came into view again and we could see a three year old Rein and Luffy sitting next to each other smiling a talking with Dragon behind them. They seemed to be on a ship that just docked on an uninhabited Island.

"Alright Rein, Luffy we've arrived go and get your stuff I'll take you over to the island." Dragon said and the kids did as they were told.

The memory skipped to the trio walking through a dense forest.

"I trust Garp has been training you how to fight?" Dragon asked and the kids paled and nodded their heads yes.

"Sorry shouldn't have asked, I remember exactly how he's like." Dragon paled and shuttered.

Ace and Sabo burst out laughing at Rein, Luffy, and even Dragons pale faces.

"It's not funny, and you know it." Luffy pouted.

"Sorry sorry, we know but it's just so funny you three have the same expression."

"Even the mighty Dragon!"

"Hey what do you mean Garps been training you how to fight? You're three here yoi?"

"So I started out at three too, how else are we going to defend ourselves from the forests we get thrown into?" Ace asked them like what was going on was normal.

"I give up yoi." Marco sighed.

The trio stopped at a small cabin in the middle of the forest.

"You will stay here, until I come get you alright. It was getting to dangerous for you to stay with Makino, and here should be safer. No one come by so you shouldn't have to worry about outsiders. I'll also be coming to check on you once every month to make sure you're doing okay and bring new supplies. I'm sorry it's my fault you have to live like this." Dragon said.

"Don't worry daddy we understand." Luffy said.

"Yeah Daddy's really cool when I grow up I want to join daddy." Rein said.

"That's my boy? And you Luffy what do you want to do?" He asked.

"Hmm, I want to be a pirate and be free! But I'll help you too daddy I'll be sure to give the world government Hell!" the three year old said. 'Seriously what's with these kids; they're way to old for their age and at the same time their not.'

"Were you seriously just left there yoi!"

"Yep."

"By yourselves!"

"Yep!"

"What is wrong with you D's acting like that's normal." The commanders sighed.

"I can't believe I'm saying this but why couldn't you stay with Dadan?" Thatch asked.

"At first they thought it would be a bad idea to raise us together." Ace explained.

"But then things happened and they changed their minds." Luffy continued.

Alright that was just the calm before the storm, nothing to bad happened, but it starts in the next chapter! So R&R!

Oh if there is anything you want to see let me know. I do plan on showing Shanks so don't worry.
