Chapter 10: Dark Pasts Revealed: Sabo

"What kind of things yoi?"

"You'll see." She answered solemnly. "Alright time to continue from where we left off with Sabo." She continued and Sabo flinched knowing what was coming. This movement did not go unnoticed by those around him so everyone started to prepare for the worst.

"Alright Ren, you feeling a little better now?" five-year old Sabo asked a now bandaged a clothed Ren. The teen was covered from head to toe with bandages. Even his cheeks and forehead and his eyes were colored in dark purple, while his actual eyeballs had some red in them.

"Geeze what the hell do they do to someone to 'Train them'?" Thatch asked. What Thatch and the other commanders were expecting was a "you don't want to know" from Sabo but instead they received a "You'll see from." Luffy, making the dread in the pits of their stomach grow. After all they know the kids have some messed up pasts but so far it hasn't been that bad and that makes them worry for what's to come.

"Come on then let's go to my room." Sabo suggested.

"O-okay." Came the reply. The two walked down the long hallway's fully decorated with sculptures, and paintings placed by the white walls.

"Never thought I'd see inside a castle of a celestial dragon."

"And if my parents knew they'd be so pissed off so this is so worth it." Sabo smirked.

The two finally stopped at two large mahogany doors with golden handles, which Sabo quickly opened and the two quickly went inside. The room was enormous, filled with toys and books and a huge king sized bed. On the left was a door to a large bathroom, with a tub as big as a pool and to the right was an enormous closet about a third size of the room.

"Wow Sabo just wow." Thatch said.

"I can't believe how easy you adjusted to here and life at Dadan's" Luffy giggled.

"It was easy, I despised this place."

"Yeah it smelled really bad. Even Grey Terminal smelled better than this place and it was a dump." She responded.

"True."

"What do you mean it smells… Oh that's what you mean kind of stale or something." Thatch said after smelling the air.

"Yeah makes you feel like you're suffocating." Sabo added.

"This place is huge." Ren stated in awe.

"Yeah I'll have you sleep in here from now on, so you'll be able to recover faster, and I don't like it down there, and I doubt you do to."

"Thanks, and you know you've got a pretty big vocabulary for someone who's five." Ren observed.

"Yeah well, my dad said he doesn't want me to speak like my cousin who's 13 and talks like a toddler." Sabo explained. "So he made me study."

"Wow that bad huh?"

"Yep, you can lay down in the bed if you want." Sabo offered.

"Um th-that's o-okay." Ren responded turning pale.

"Hey are you okay? You're trembling."

"I-m f-fine."

"Forgive me for not believing you. I really do think you should lay down."

"N-no." He said backing into the wall.

"What's with this guy?" Thatch asked.

"He he was…" Sabo was saying but couldn't finish.

"What?"

"No! I know what you're doing! That trainer told me what 'someone like me' would be used for." Ren yelled starting to have a panic attack.

"What are you talking about?"

"I know you're 5 but I still don't trust you. I don't want to go through anything like that again." He yelled and then slid down the wall into a seated position on the floor bringing his knees to his chest, placing his head on top.

"Hey are you okay?"

"I've never felt more humiliated in my life." He cried

"Ren tell me what happened please." Sabo begged but his voice stern.

"I was…I was…r..ra..ped." He said in a quit voice.

"W—what, what do you mean what does that mean?" Sabo asked but his eyes widened. 'What does he mean? Why do I have this weird feeling?' Sabo thought.

"No way." Thatch whispered.

"Yeah, I didn't know what that even meant back then, I didn't know how to comfort him, or help him when he told me." Sabo said.

Ren lifted his head from his knees and looked at Sabo, "I'm sorry I'm fine forget I said anything."

"But."

"It's alright I'm fine think I will take you up on your offer now. I'm really tiered." He said getting up on wobbly legs and patting Sabo on the head.

"Okay. Ren I swear I will get you out of here, no matter what the minute you finish healing your wounds. The doctor said you'll be fine in two weeks, and that's the day I'll release you and give you a boat to sail off on, but for now I'll protect you from them, all of them I give you my word. They will not hurt you again."

"S-sabo." Ren whimpered from under the covers. Before he started shaking and before he knew it tears were flowing down his cheeks. "Thank you."

"Wow Sabo." Namur said in awe 'I've never would have thought I see the day where something like this happens.

"Yeah He's a hero alright." Luffy said with a smile, making ace pout.

"Alright Ren come on hurry I've got everything planned and ready to go, it's all set up you just have to get on the ship and leave, don't look back and don't worry about me got." Sabo said as he unlocked the bomb collar.

"Yeah thank you so much for everything Sabo bye." He said before leaving.

"Be safe and free." Sabo whispered before turning around to go back to his room. He was currently in the garden by a secret entrance to the outside world.

"So he got away." Namur said with a smile.

"Yeah." Sabo responded with a smaller smile.

"What's wrong yoi?"

"Nothing I'm fine." He responded but the commanders saw the pitying look Luffy threw him. 'Alright these two definitely meet before they met up with Ace or something.

BANG BANG BANG

"SABO OPEN UP!" Demanded a harsh male voice. Sabo flinched when hearing it but the five year old still stood up from his desk to open the door. When he did he started to tremble with fear when his eyes meet the cold glare of his father.

"Sabo." The man growled. "Where is that pet that I just bought you?" He asked.

"He's uh he's gone." So stuttered out.

"And WHY is he gone?"

"I let him escape." Sabo answered shutting his tightly as he was backhanded across the face.

"Do YOU have ANY IDEA how MUCH that THING COST!"

"But Father, it's not right to own people he told me what happened. He was kidnapped from his home and sold to us. That's wrong."

"Oh Sabo. Sabo, Sabo, Sabo my poor poor naïve little boy, He tricked you, he was trash his family is trash, it doesn't matter, they are here in this world to please us."

"But that's wrong, he was tortured and r-raped. He is human he's not trash! He has feelings just like us, he has a brain and hands, and and a heart just like us. His whole anatomy is just like ours! He's HUMAN JUST LIKE US!" Sabo yelled and was punched in the face. When he looked up to see his father's eyes he was shocked. He father's eyes were widened with fear and rage.

"Fath.."

"Silence! You are not to talk to me until you've been cleaned. You're mind has been corrupted and dirtied.

"What what is he talking about!" Thatch yelled.

"He can't be serious!" Namur yelled.

"Unfortunately for me he is. I was way to naïve back then, but know the damage is done, he won't stop until I'm clean again."

"What's he going to do yoi?"

"Anything he thinks will work, it's funny though he doesn't do it himself, he gets others to do it." Sabo said with a humorless chuckle.

"Gunther!" The noble yelled.

"Yes master. What can I do for you?" Came a man in a black suit.

"My son has been dirtied. You've done this before with the other children right? I want you to do whatever you did to fix them to fix my son." He ordered.

"Woah woah woah! Hold on a sec you mean there are other noble brats that know that everything their parents are doing is wrong?" Namur asked.

"Yes." Sabo replied quietly. "A lot actually."

"Then how come they all act the same when they're older?"

"Because they were broken, and couldn't take anymore 'cleaning'" Sabo answered disgust dripping off the word "Cleaning".

The commanders along with Luffy and Ace know what's coming next their about to see Sabo get tortured, in away that's completely changed the personalities of those that have suffered the same fate before.

"Understood master." He said before picking up Sabo by the back of the shirt and walking down towards the depths of the dark basement."

As he walked we could hear the screams and pleas to stop echoing throughout the hall. Sabo's small frame already trembling fearing what's to come 'I can do this I can handle everything they throw at me. It can't be as bad as what all these people are suffering now.' Thought Sabo as Gunther halted in front of a steal door and as he was about to open it…

"Wait stop!" Sabo said grabbing Luffy's arm.

"Sabo are you okay? What's wrong?" Luffy asked.

"It's nothing I'm fine just give me a minute. Please?"

"Yeah okay." She responded looking at him with concern in her eyes. Everyone watched as he sat on the ground taking in deep breaths.

"We can stop if you want you know?" Namur asked sitting on his left as Luffy sat on his right next to Marco, and Ace with Thatch.

"No don't stop. It's all right now. I'm safe. Go ahead Luffy." She nodded as Ace took a small concerned glance over to his brother before looking ahead at the memory.

The man opened the door and walked in still carrying Sabo by the collar.

"So brat have you ever heard of the impenetrable prison Impel Down?" He asked his voice was void of emotion as well as his eyes. Sabo merely shook his head no as an answer.

"Of course you haven't. Anyway it's one of the three main government bases. This one is an under water prison that's home to the worlds most dangerous men. It's literally hell on earth. I'm telling you this because a lot of the techniques I'm going to use came from that place because it's meant to cleanse Pirates, so it might work on you as well." As Sabo listened he turned paler and his eyes widened.

"Oh my God." Thatch whispered as everyone but Sabo watched on in horror, meanwhile Sabo was clutching on to Namur and trembling from watching the memory and Namur moved him in to his lap to comfort him better.

"First we'll start with the cleansing that all criminals have to go through before they are placed in one of the 6 layers of hell." He said opening the first of the 7 doors in the hallway to reveal a gigantic black pot of boiling water.

"This is boiled holy water. What they do is dunk the criminal in it of a while and then pull them back out. Then they're all nice and clean." Upon hearing this Sabo tried with all his power to get out of Gunther's viper grip.

While watching this the commander's could not contain their fear and anger at the situation. They were all trembling with rage, holding the scared kids in their laps in a protective hug. All that's going through their minds right now is 'How could he he's just a kid! He's only five years old!'

"Please let me go! Please I'm sorry! Please stop! Don't Don't do this!" Sabo begged.

"Sorry orders are orders." And now everyone can see it plain as day the man had a sadistic and cruel gleam in his eyes, like he enjoyed doing this. The man ripped off Sabo's clothing leaving him with nothing, giving him a different look in his eyes as well, but at the moment it was unidentifiable. He placed handcuffs on Sabo that's seemed to have sharp spikes on the inside cutting and digging into his wrists slowly drawing out blood. He then attached a hook to it; which was attached to a chain; which was attached to a pulley; which would lower him into the water and back out with the push of a button.

"Please stop!" Sabo begged as tears gathered in his eyes as he looked at the boiling water beneath him and before he knew it the he was being lowered into the water.

'Nonononononono Breathe Sabo You'll be fine, He won't kill you, he can't kill you, It'll be alright.' Sabo thought.

The commanders all stared at Sabo after hearing his thoughts, and couldn't help but respect him, they've seen grown men who've cried and screamed from something smaller than being dunked in boiling water.

"Have fun!" Yelled Gunther before pushing the button completely submerging Sabo in the water; while under Sabo's body violently thrashed around in pain, as the water scorched his skin. He screwed his eyes shut, refusing to open them no matter what. He tried to do the same with his mouth but failed as it opened in a silent scream. It may have only been 1 minute just 60 seconds, but to Sabo and those watching it felt like hours. When he was finally pulled up his body instantly went limp. It was completely red from the burns. His eyes which finally opened were rolled to the back of his head. The pulley that was holding him up moved him over to another tub of water, and he was instantly dunked in again and held their for another minute. This time the water was freezing to the touch turning his burned skin blue. When he was pulled out his entire body was shaking from the cold and he was pulled up and grabbed off the hook by the cuffs that were still around his wrist and thrown into the room next to this one labeled one on it.

"Welcome to Level one, "The crimson forest" you will stay here for two months time." He informed before throwing Sabo's naked lifeless body into the spiked pits of hell.

"That bastard, ever see him I'll kill him!" the Commanders growled in unison, clutching their charges in their arms protectively.

"Thank you, but that won't be necessary. My father had him killed when he found out about something he did to me." Sabo said nervously.

"You mean besides torture you like a criminal, on death row." Thatch said.

"Yeah, that my father was okay with because he thought he was helping me, but this man… did something that crossed the line." Sabo answered still trembling and clutching on to Namur. The commanders wanted to ask more but let it slide for now.

The memory returned and we could see Sabo slowly start to wake up. The spiked ground was digging into his skin releasing a trickle of blood from his pale skin.

"Wh-where am I?"

"In the crimson forest of hell, it's called that because it's covered in blood." Came a small high pitched voice, one that belongs to a female.

"Who are you?" Sabo asked.

"Just a slave to the world noble's, apparently they couldn't break my spirit the normal ways so, here I am, going through the long process of hell, I just got out of my bath as well and thrown in here not even a few minutes ago I woke up, so looks like we'll be going through this together." Said the girl you could hear the smile in her voice.

"That sound nice, I'm Sabo by the way, I'm a world noble my father through me in here because I don't believe in slavery."

"Hmm, if that's the case then … I Like you." The girl chirped and Sabo chuckled.

"Enough to tell me your name."

"My name is Jewelry Bonney."

"It's a pleasure to meet you. Once I get out of here I will help you escape, I swear." He said.

"That's nice and all but you're stuck in here to."

"Yeah but eventually my punishment will be over." Sabo said.

"Hmm hey is your family the only one is this castle?" She asked.

"Why do you ask?"

"I was wondering who I belong to now. Your family or someone else." She asked her

voice void of emotion. After a long silence Sabo finally answered.

"If you're in this dungeon, then it's my family that owns you." Sabo stated in the

same voice.

"I see. Then when you get out of here can you be my master?" She asked.

"What?" Sabo asked completely shocked at the request.

"Can you be my master?"

"Why?"

"Because if I'm going to be a slave I'd rather be a slave for someone like you than someone like them." She answered.

"How old are you?" Sabo asked.

"4. I just turned four last week."

"How long have you been here?"

"…I was born here." She responded.

"What!" Sabo yelled in shock actually forcing his body out of the spikes to face her falling back into the spikes after turning his body around. "What! You've endured four years of hell and…." He stopped mid sentence when he finally met her eyes and saw a smile on her face. He then took in her appearance and saw she was stripped of her clothing as well and her blooding dripping off the spikes beneath her where she laid. The girl was starved that was for sure you could see her bones through her skin but she still had long pretty pick hair and blue eyes.

"You have really pretty blue eyes." She complemented Sabo sighed and smiled.

"So do you." He responded. "You're a year younger than me, and yet you speak so well. Care to explain?"

"I'm a genius, though my devil fruit helps."

"Devil fruit huh?"

"Yeah they forced me to eat it when I turned four, so I could be more entertaining." She explained. "It tasted bad, and I'm not a picky person." Sabo laughed before asking what it did.

"It's a Parimecia type. It allows me to shoot a beam that turns me or anyone it hits into any age I want." She explained.

"That's interesting, but how'd it help you learn how to speak?"

"I turned my self into an adult and since adults can speak, I figured it out." She answered.

"Hmm interesting."

"Is something wrong, you don't sound interested." She asked.

Sabo sighed before answering, "Sorry I'm just worried about you, with a power like that they could make you turn older and well…" Sabo stopped with a blush.

"Yeah I know they could also make me turn other slaves into the right age as well."

"Don't tell me they already…"

"No, well not exactly, um you know that man who threw you in here?" she started hesitantly.

"Gunther?"

"Yeah him, I grew up here so I know him very well, from watching him interact with kids and from the rumors."

"What did you find out?" Sabo asked hesitatingly.

"That mans preference." She stated.

"What is it?"

"He doesn't like adult women or men, hell he doesn't even like teens, what he does like is kids of the age of 12 and below. All kids any gender."

"That sick bastard!" The commanders yelled.

"Yeah that's why he was killed. He is also considered trash, yet he touched me, so my father had him put to death."

"He should consider himself lucky he's not alive then." Namur growled.

"Thanks."

"Well Sabo is this the start of a Love story between you and Bonney or what?" Thatch asked.

"A tragic one." Sabo whispered but no one heard.

"Great! Wait he hasn't done anything to you has he!"

"…Yeah he has, but just t-touching nothing else rumor has it he's never r-raped a child before just… m-molested them. But hey you should stop worrying so much about me you know, we may have to stay in here for two months before moving up in hell, or should I say down, but that doesn't mean we'll be left in the room the whole time."

"What do you mean?"

"Just like in Impel down, they have sadist that pull prisoners out of their cells to torture them, well Gunther here will be doing the same thing."

"Perfect." Sabo grumbled.

"Yeah, oh he really likes to hear our screams it….turns him on…but before he begins each session, he asks if you want the easy way out, which is submitting to him."

"Like hell I'm going to lay down and be his bitch."

"You know you've got a big vocabulary yourself, a colorful one at that."

"My dad forced me to study English everyday."

"That sounds boring."

"Mind numbingly so." He responded and the both giggled.

"Alright Pause, We'll break from Sabo and move on to Ace now." Luffy said.

"Or we could do you." Ace replied.

"Sorry but if Sabo's five here than I'm three and nothing interesting besides Garp's training happens."

"Okay than show that it'll be a nice break from all this torture." Ace said.

"Oh it starts at five for you as well?" Luffy asked. "Okay than but if you laugh at me, Ace, I'll show the commanders you're training sessions with Garp, they're the same ones he pulled on me and rein. And I'm only showing two, no more."

"Thank you." Ace said.

"You better be prepared when its over, I'm sure even you'll need a minute like Sabo." Luffy whispered to Ace, who nodded his head and looked over at Sabo that had tear stained cheeks and was still hugging Namur. He gulped knowing he'll probably end up in a similar state soon.

"D-did we lose em." A small girl with black long hair asked a boy that looked just like her but shorter black hair.

"Maybe." He responded when suddenly it got darker all of a sudden. Thinking that was weird even if it was the new world the twins looked up to see their crazy grandpa grinning down at them.

"Trying to run away huh? Is that anyway to treat your Grandpa after he came all the way here to see you!" He yelled slamming a fist into their heads."

"Ow! That hurts Jichan!" Luffy pouted.

"Yeah cut it out!" Yelled Rein with a pout Garp laughed after looking at them.

And surprisingly so did those who were watching.

"You two are so cute." Laughed Thatch.

"And so alike, you even look exactly the same yoi." Chuckled Marco.

"Well yeah were twins." Stated an annoyed Luffy but she smiled when she saw Sabo feeling better.

"So Luffy was it your devil fruit that changed your hair and eye color?" Namur asked.

"Yep. And your actually going to laugh when we eat our devil fruit, but I swear it's some kind of freaky coincidence or something." Luffy answered.

"Can't wait." Sabo and Ace said with a D grin.

"Alright time to train I brought you two something very special." Garp said picking them up by their shirts and carrying them to the top of a hill, where two groups of balloons flocked together.

"Balloons!" Luffy cheered.

"For us!" Rein followed.

"Yep." Garp said as he tied one group of the balloons to Rein and the other to Luffy causing their smiles to fall into one of pure fear.

"What are you doing!" Rein yelled.

"Training you to become a strong marine."

"I don't want to be a Marine! I want to be a Pirate!"

"And I want to be a Revolutionary!" they yelled as Garp severed the rope tying them to the ground.

"What! I will beat those ideas out of your heads right now!" but it was two late the two already began to float up into the sky.

"Those balloons have enough air to last you the whole day. Stay up their for as long as you can." He yelled up, as they stared at him with a look of pure horror on their face.

"Ahhhhhhhh were going to die!" they yelled. "You crazy old Jiji!"

Ace and Sabo burst out laughing as they saw this and the commanders adopted a look of horror. "He's insane yoi"

"Totally and completely insane." Thatch added.

"He forgets how quickly the weather changes in the new world that's for sure." Namur added.

"Oh you aint seen nothing yet." Ace said with a smirk. "This isn't even the worse one."

"Well it's not so bad up here." Luffy mumbled as she watched Rein Float next to her.

"Luffy Promise me you won't die." Rein said looking at her with a serious look.

"I promise, if you promise me you won't die either." She said with a smile which he returned and said you bet.

"We have to live…" He started.

"And give the government Hell!" She continued. Slowly but surely there balloons were starting to drift away from each other. Rein heading toward the middle of the island towards the mountain, and Luffy toward the sea.

"Oh no Luffy!" Rein yelled.

"Don't worry Rein, I'll come back to you, I promise!" She yelled but then as she was now directly above the sea a gust of wind pushed her farther out.

"Oh no!" Sabo yelled.

"Luffy!" Ace followed it was purely brotherly instinct whenever their little sister ended up in these predicaments.

"Great I can barely see the island." Luffy mumbled. "No what should I do? Ah a ship." Luffy exclaimed happily. "A pirate ship." She cheered with stars in her eyes.

"You do know not all pirates are nice right yoi?"

"Yep." Luffy replied.

"Now how do I get there?" She was pulled from her thoughts when a loud pop came to her ears. She slowly looked up at her balloons not wanting to believe what she heard, when her eyes widened. "You stupid birds cut it out!" She yelled. Only to get more popping noises.

"Oh no." Ace and Sabo groaned.

"Relax you'll be laughing at this in no time." Luffy said.

"Ah man! I bet the waters going to be cold, and I can't swim, and and I'm hungry." She whined not looking like she was about to die.

"Of course you're hungry." Ace grumbled.

"How can that be what you're thinking about now of all times!" Sabo added.

Bonk. "Ow." Luffy complained catching whatever hit her on her head. She looked up at the birds and realized one of them must have dropped it. She was about to yell when she realized that they dropped a fruit on her head, a weird-looking fruit but a fruit none the less. "Thanks." She smiled her D smile and gobbled down the fruit in one bite before sticking out her tongue in disgust. "That's gross, stupid bird, that's not going to be my last meal." She complained.

The on looker's jaws slacked. "That's how you got your devil fruit!" They yelled.

"Yep, must be fate." She said. "Just wait till you see Rein when I get back."

Her hair slowly started turning white and her coal black eyes turned a bloody crimson red and the bird's finished popping the majority of the balloons keeping her afloat in the air, and now she's plummeting to her doom. straight down into the icy cold unforgiving water of the ocean.

An: I decided to stop it here for now, otherwise this chapter would get way to long but I hope you like it so far. Please R&R and let me now about suggestions.
