Chapter Eight: Deep in Blue
Haruhi and Kitaru were studying in the library. Haruhi was going through law books while Kitaru was going through Art History books. It is good to have some peace and quiet once and awhile. She then turned to Kitaru who was lost in her studies. Kitaru seems to work very hard to get into this school. Even if she is a princess, she is still normal. "Hey Kitaru, what are you going to do after Ouran Academy?" She asked.
"There are a lot of things I want to do. But I would love to teach children how to play music." Kitaru said. "I am an art major and music major so I want to share my passion with the new generation just like my parents."
"With your talent, I can see that happening." Haruhi said. Seeing her so determined in her dream, it makes me want to push myself.
"Are you trying to be a lawyer like your mother?" Kitaru asked.
"Yeah, it is tough but I am not giving up." Haruhi said. Kitaru then lifted her pinky in front of her.
"Then let's promise to achieve our dreams." Kitaru said. "And we would give each other a morale boost when we feel like quitting okay?"
"Sure…" Haruhi said, grabbing her pinky with hers. "I promise…" She then checked the time. "Oh man, we are going to be late." She grabbed her hand and pulled her away. "Come on Kitaru, we are never going to hear the end of it." They made it to the music room and found all the boys waiting for them. "Sorry guys that we were late."
"It is okay because I have an important announcement. We are going to go to the beach today." Tamaki said.
"Really boss…" The twins said.
"Of course, we have a day off today so it's off to the beach." Tamaki declared.
"Since Kitaru joined the club, our budget went skyrocket to the point that we made more money that we can burn." Kyoya explained. "Since she was the reason we have this so much money, how about she chooses where we should go on our one day vacation?"
"That actually makes sense." Hikaru said, putting his arm around Kitaru.
"So Kitaru, where do you want to go?" Kaoru asked, putting his arm around her too.
"Well, I think we should just go to the beach. Tamaki-sempai is already set on it and I don't want to shut him down." Kitaru said.
"Then we are going to beach." Honey said. "We can go swimming Kita-chan." Her eyes widened and she dropped her books. "Kita-chan, are you okay?"
"Kitaru, what's wrong?" Haruhi asked. Mori was staring at her as he found her shaking. "Kitaru…"
"Oh, I am sorry. I was just shocked that everyone agreed with me that's all." Kitaru swiftly replied."There is nothing to worry about."
"You don't need to swim." Kyoya said. "It is a day off so you are welcome just to relax on the sandy beach."
"Then I would do that then." Kitaru said.
Kita… Mori thought, staring at her once more. I wonder… Mori pulled Kitaru to talk alone. "Kitaru, you should cancel this trip."
"I am fine. I can handle this." Kitaru said.
"You are still scared of the water. I don't want you to get stress about it. You don't need to do this to make other people happy." Mori replied.
"I am not doing this for that… I want to go." Kitaru said.
"You are lying." Mori snapped.
"I am not." Kitaru snapped. "We are going and that's final. Besides, everyone is packing for the trip already and I don't need to get in the water so there is nothing to worry about." Mori kept silent with her response. He is the only person that knows how I feel about the ocean. I shouldn't be so harsh towards him. He is only worried. She then let out a sigh. "I am sorry."
"It's okay…" Mori said, cupping her face. "Are you sure you can handle this?"
"Yes, so please don't worry." Kitaru said.
Everyone made their way to the beach and for the first time, Haruhi and Kitaru were wearing swimsuits. Haruhi was wearing a two piece pink bikini with ruffles while Kitaru was wearing a royal blue one piece bikini with ruffles on the bottoms that make it look like a skirt.
"Hey Haru-chan…Kita-chan…You two look cute." Honey said, circling around them with his pink bunny tube. "Come on you guys, let's go swimming."
"Thanks Honey-sempai." Haruhi said. Kitaru was staring at the ocean. Something is wrong with Kitaru. She freaked out when Honey told her about swimming. I wonder if knows how to swim. "Hey Kitaru, do you know how to swim?"
"Yeah, why?" Kitaru asked.
"Oh, well I am going to swim with Honey-sempai. Do you want to join us?" Haruhi asked. I guess she is still feeling uneasy about the water due to the car accident. I would probably feel the same way if I went through the same situation.
"No, I don't feel like swimming today." Kitaru replied. "I am going to sit in the shade for now."
"Awww… I wanted to swim with you too Big Sister." Honey said, giving her a sad look. Kitaru hugged him tightly.
"I am sorry but I am not feeling so well." Kitaru said, smiling at him. "Maybe next time little brother."
"Okay but you promised…" Honey said, grabbing Haruhi's hand. "Come on Haru-chan, let's have some fun." Tamaki and the twins were already in the water and when they saw Haruhi in a swimsuit, all of them turned red. Tamaki couldn't even control himself as they all swam and have fun the water. Kitaru was sitting on a lounge chair next to Kyoya.
"You look great in a swimsuit Kitaru." Kyoya commented.
"Thank you Kyoya-sempai." Kitaru said, blushing.
"It would be a waste to not use it in the water. Everyone seems to be having so much fun." Kyoya said.
"I am not feeling it today." Kitaru replied, staring at the ocean. That day…I can remember sinking deeper into the ocean and grasping for air. I just can't… "MOMMY! DADDY!" She started to hug her legs and hid her sad look on her face. I just can't… I can't go back there.
"Then I hope I can entertain you." Kyoya said. "Many people think I am boring."
"You are not boring. You are doing fine." Kitaru replied. "I am just happy that I am not alone."
"I am glad that you are happy then." Kyoya said, hiding his blush. Why do I feel weird around her?
"I can just relax." Kitaru said. The twins then stood beside her. "Oh hello Hikaru and Kaoru, are you done swimming?" They both lifted her up and carried her to the shore. "HIKARU… KAORU, LET GO OF ME! PUT ME DOWN!"Mori saw this and raced towards them.
"Have fun Kitaru… You deserve it." Kyoya said.
"Oh look, the twins are bringing in Kitaru." Tamaki said.
"She doesn't look happy about it though." Haruhi added.
"LET ME GO!" Kitaru screamed, squirming yet could break free from the twin's grip. The twins kept silent and walked into the water. "PUT ME DOWN!" They then let go of her and instead of swimming upwards, she was sinking. Not again…
"Kitaru, swim to the surface. I would get your mom out of here okay." My dad said, trying to breaking my mother's seatbelt.
"But I don't want to leave you." I cried.
"Don't worry, we would follow after you." My dad said. I swam to the surface but looked everywhere for my parents. I can remember how strong the currents were and how cold the water was as well.
"Mommy…Daddy… Where are you?" I cried. "MOMMY! DADDY!"
Mori grabbed her again. "Kita, are you okay?" He asked, cupping her face. "You are okay now Kita. I am here." She was shivering in fear and she was crying. "Kita…" I knew this would happen. Everyone was worried about her that they raced to her and Mori. She stood up and stared at the twins with rage.
"WHY DID YOU DO THAT?!" Kitaru screamed. "WHY DID YOU HAVE TO THROW ME IN THE OCEAN LIKE THAT?!"
"You told Haruhi that you can swim unless you were lying." Hikaru teased.
"Don't tell me that our angel is lying now." Kaoru added.
"So you think this is a game…" Kitaru said, shaking.
"Big Sister, we just wanted you to play with us. I asked the twins to bring you in the ocean. It is not their fault." Honey said. "Please don't get mad."
"Kitaru, you should calm down." Haruhi said, grabbing her. "They are just joking around. They didn't mean it in a bad way." Kitaru then tossed her hand aside. "Kitaru…" She then started to runaway. "KITARU!"
I can't go back there… Kitaru thought, crying as she was running. Don't take me back there. Mori was about to follow her but Kyoya grabbed his hand.
"Give her some time. It was difficult for her to even be near the ocean." Kyoya said. "It is best for her."
I hope you are right about that Kyoya. Mori thought, staring at her.
"Are you two insane?" Tamaki snapped at the twins. "Do you two have any idea what you guys have done?"
"We just wanted her to come in the water." Hikaru said.
"It is not like we did something wrong." Kaoru said.
"Kitaru is still troubled about the ocean. You know very well that her parents drown and died because of it." Haruhi snapped. "Did that ever came to mind that she was still languish or afraid of the ocean?"
"You're right, that thought never came to mind." Kaoru said.
"We just wanted to have fun with her." Hikaru said.
"Now Big Sister is mad at me..." Honey cried. "What have I done?" Then gray clouds devoured the blue sky. It then started to rain. "Oh no, I think a storm is coming."
"Haruhi, please look for Kitaru. The rest head back to the resort." Kyoya ordered.
"Okay…" Honey said. "Wait, where is Usa-chan?" He looked all over the place but there was no sign of him. He then found Usa-chan, floating away in the ocean. "USA-CHAN!"
"I'll get him." Mori said, jumping in the ocean and swimming towards it. The currents grew stronger and it was hard for him to reach the stuffed bunny. I am almost there…
"TAKASHI, BE CAREFUL!" Honey screamed. Takashi got Usa-chan but a huge wave swallowed him whole. There was no sign of him. "TAKASHI!" Then all of the sudden, a coconut tree was about to fall on top of him.
"HONEY-SEMPAI!" Tamaki screamed, grabbing him in the nick of time. "Honey-sempai, are you okay?"
"Thanks to you…" Honey said. Tamaki carried him and raced to the resort. "How about Takashi?"
"Don't worry about Mori-sempai, he can take care of himself." Tamaki said, racing away to shelter.
"KITARU, WHERE ARE YOU?!" Haruhi screamed. "KITARU!" She then found her standing on top of the cliff. "KITARU!"
Mori, where are you? Kitaru thought, looking for him in the water but there was no sign of him anywhere. Not again… I am not going to lose anyone close to me again… Haruhi then grabbed her hand. "Haruhi…"
"What are you doing here? We have to get into safety." Haruhi said. "Come on…"
"How about Mori, I can't leave him like this?" She asked.
"He is going to be fine…" Haruhi said. Kitaru then knocked her hand away. "Kitaru…"
"I am not going to lose anyone else anymore." Kitaru said. She raced to the edge and leaped into the water. Mori, I am coming… Please keep breathing.
\"KITARU!" Haruhi screamed. What is she thinking? Then flash of lightning appeared and Haruhi froze in fear. "Oh no…" She then sat on top of the cliff, scared. "Why now? Why now?" Mori and Kitaru are gone and now I can't go home. I can't… Tamaki, where are you? Tamaki pulled her into his embrace. "Tamaki-sempai."
"I am here… I would protect you from the lightning." Tamaki replied, carrying her. "Let's get you inside. Kyoya already called in a marine search team to look for Kitaru and Mori. So there is no need to worry Haruhi." Haruhi was crying with fear that her cousin might be in trouble. Tamaki just kissed her on the lips to calm her down. Kitaru… Mori… Please stay safe for our sake.
Kitaru dove deeper into the ocean. This coldness… I remember… I am not going to sink deep in the cold blue anymore. I am going to find him. Kitaru then spotted Mori and swiftly swam towards him. She carried him to the surface and forced her tired legs to paddle to the shore. "Mori, stay with me." Kitaru said, grasping for air. "I am not losing you." She fought through the harsh waves and made to shore. She pulled Mori further away from the ocean and checks his pulse. He is not breathing. "Mori, don't die on me." She pressed his chest with her palm but there was no response. She then started to cry. "Please don't die on me. Please don't leave me like my parents. Please… I love you…" She pumped air into his lungs by mouth. I hope this works. He then coughed out seawater and he was breathing. "MORI, YOU ARE OKAY!" She hugged him tightly. "Oh Mori, you had me worried."
"Kita…" Mori said, cupping her face. She grabbed his hand and smiled. She then helped him up and placed his arms around her. He fell unconscious and Kitaru tried her best to keep him on his feet.
"Let's get you to the resort. Everyone is probably worried about us." Kitaru said, carried him to the shelter.
