Author's Note:

Greetings and salutations to you all. So another chapter and Jim suddenly realises something really quite exceptional. Thank you for your continued support of this story and I hope you enjoy this chapter.

As always I do not own Star Trek.

New Record

It was calm and peaceful on the bridge of the Enterprise and things were going slow.

McCoy had ambled up to the bridge since there was little going on in the Medbay and he was actually on top of all his paperwork for once. Jim had greeted him as he came onto the bridge and since then a comfortable silence had fallen on the room which Leonard was enjoying. Jim was then of course the one to break the silence with a sudden exclamation.

"I think we've broken an Enterprise record!"

The rest of the bridge and McCoy looked at the captain in confusion, "What record Jim?"

"Well haven't you guys noticed?"

He looked around the bridge to see that the rest of them had no idea what he was talking about. "Seriously guys, isn't it obvious!?" He sighed as everyone continued to stare at him blankly, "It's been exactly three weeks since that run in we had with those crazy colonists."

Spock spoke up from his seat at the science station, "I fail to see how this fact has resulted in your previous statement Captain."

"C'mon Spock, it means that it's been three weeks since we've had anything crazy happen. An entire three weeks without space pirates, alien entities, strange anomalies, time travel, random attacks, damage to the Enterprise, crew being kidnapped, you or me nearly dying or any other such catastrophe which no other ship seems to experience."

There was silence around the room as everyone digested this new piece of information until McCoy spoke, "For once your right Jim, I think that is a brand new record for this ship."

Pavel nodded in agreement, "Da, out vith repair vork and ze re-build I can't sink of a time vere ve'we hawe gone zis long betveen insane ewents."

Hikaru looked thoughtful, "I don't think I can think of a quiet time as long as this either."

Spock spoke from his station where he'd been checking the timeline of their missions, "I myself cannot think of a time when we have had an occurrence such as this and the computer indicates that we have not had, as you have said, 'a quiet time' as long as this out with time spent in space dock, a most fascinating situation."

Jim held his arms out triumphantly, "See, this is officially the longest gap, out with space dock, that the Enterprise as had between crazy missions."

At that moment Spock called out from his station, "Captain, sensors indicate a unknown reading ahead of us."

An audible slap was heard around the bridge as Jim face palmed.

PS-There we go and please let me know what you thought and your seemingly favourite OC of my 'verse' the goose may make another appearance soon.
