Chapter Twenty-Nine
Shocking Revelations
Sookie felt her jaw drop in shock. She hadn't known what she had expected when Godric and Eric had brought her to such a beautiful restaurant, but wanting to get her involved in a threesome was not what she had predicted.
"Together?" she squeaked.
Despite the trust she had placed in Godric she couldn't help but momentarily doubt his honesty. It was the nervousness coming off him in waves that had her rethinking her doubt. She had never witnessed a vampire so nervous, especially the two sitting in front of her.
"Yes, Sookie."
She believed him.
Leaning back into her chair she breathed out a sigh, all the air leaving her in one puff. Despite their feelings of nervousness she had no doubt that they were confident that she would except them, and while her Christian values screamed at her to reject them the words just wouldn't come.
Gosh, was she actually thinking about it?
"We are not joking around with you, Sookie" Godric continued. "You must understand that we feel protective over you."
"But protective doesn't mean affection, Godric." Sookie rubbed her face, her carefully applied make-up momentarily forgotten. She had never been that girly anyway. "Being with you and Eric like that…is that even possible?"
Sookie would have given anything to have been able to get inside Godric's head at that moment, his shock obvious even to her. "You are not completely adverse to the idea?"
She should have told him yes, that she was very much adverse to the idea. It should have been a ridiculous concept to even consider and yet at the same time Sookie couldn't lie and say it didn't seem appealing. Eric and Godric were linked by a thousand years, they were close. It was tempting to become part of such a strong bond despite how it came to be.
But was it love, or was it something else.
Sookie had been around vampires enough to realise that they were very protective and possessive beings. It had taken Bill taking her to Fangtasia that very first time to reveal that they were creatures who instinctively laid claim to people as if they were furniture. They were jealous, and while she didn't like to stereotype, it was in their nature. There was no escaping that.
Swallowing, Sookie stared at the two beautiful vampires in front of her. She understood that it was something she would have to accept, something that she had in fact come to terms with, but by entering into a relationship with them it would change everything. The question was whether or not she was willing to or not.
"I don't know what to say. I didn't expect this." She really didn't.
Godric's expression was soft and reassuring.
"Is it a possessive thing?" Sookie blurted out. Her manners took a beating but she needed answers, she needed to understand what they wanted from her. "Are you wanting this just so no one else can lay claim to me?"
While the added protection would be nice, she didn't want to be alone for the rest of her life, and she wasn't about to make a major decision for selfish reasons.
Godric frowned. "We care very much for you Sookie, please understand that. The difference between a pet and a human companion you are aware of, yes?"
Cringing, "if a human is a pet the vampire views them as more of a walking happy meal than a partner." Godric nodded. "And a companion is like a boyfriend?"
Godric chuckled at her terminology. "We are a little old to be using such modern terms, älskling. While sharing a pet amongst our kind is a common occurrence, especially in the case of nests, to share a companion is exceedingly rare."
"Why?"
"Our instincts make us naturally possessive creatures, Sookie. When we desire something we become protective over it to the point of violence. It cannot be helped. While a human pet can be easily disregarded, a companion is highly respected and is to be treated as such, you would be our equal."
Sookie frowned, rolling her eyes at Eric's fangy grin. "So you don't see me as an equal now?"
"You misunderstood me, älskling" Godric was quick to correct. "We do indeed see you as our equal, you are very important to us. Other members of our kind, however, would still view you as a very sweet smelling human."
She guessed she could understand that.
Feeling her eyes drawn to Eric's movements as he lightly traced his middle finger around the rim of his glass she shook her head, bewildered. The moment both Eric and Godric had ordered a glass of trublood each it had been surprising considering how much they detested the stuff.
"Why is it rare? For a companion to belong to two vampires I mean."
"Two vampires sharing a companion would create intense jealously, fits of unplanned rage, and conflict in concerns to the human involved. Many have died as a result."
Sookies eyes widened, "and you want that?" she demanded. "Why?"
Briefly sending his childe a scolding look for his use of terminology in his explanation Godric quickly calmed Sookie to the best of his ability. "That would not be the case. We are maker and childe, Sookie, too ingrained in each other's lives and emotions for it to be a volatile situation. We may fight at times, yet our bond would make it possible for this to work. It could be a beautiful thing."
Sookie couldn't stop herself from breathing out a sigh of relief. "This is a lot to take in."
Godric nodded in understanding. "I understand, and we have no intention of rushing you into anything you are not ready for. But we would not hurt you, Sookie, emotionally or physically. That will never be our intention."
That Sookie believed.
Eric may be a crude bastard at times but it had never crossed her mind that he would physically hurt her. Thinking back it probably should have.
"I don't know…" she trailed off, cheeks aflame as she thought about the intimate side of things. Two lovers meant four sets of hands, two sets of mouths…was it wrong for her to be ok with that aspect of the relationship. She couldn't deny that the idea of being with both Godric and Eric was appealing despite her lack of experience, but the shame that filled her as a result left her feeling cold.
Her flush deepened.
It felt right, but she couldn't help but think she would be sinning.
It only increased in its shade of pink when she caught sight of Eric's smug expression, his eyes dark with lust as he stared at her with fangs. She shuddered visibly at the realisation that it would also meant two sets of fangs in her neck. Godric's had felt incredible.
"I see the physical aspect doesn't concern you," Eric purred.
She tried to scowl but she knew it must have come across as a pout. She kind of hated how they had that effect on her, how she could never stay mad at them.
"Eric!" she scolded.
It only seemed to amuse him further. "There is nothing wrong about wanting to explore your sexuality, lover" he purred. "What better way to explore it than to have two very willing lovers?"
"Are you sure all your after isn't just sex?" she scowled.
Eric shrugged. "I am no longer adverse to the idea of allowing myself to get more attached to you, älskare; however, there is nothing wrong with having a healthy sex life."
Sookie quirked a brow, "so if I told you I would be up for this but never wanted to have sex you would be ok with that."
Eric didn't seem alarmed in the slightest. "I find that impossible to believe, Sookie. You are a very beautiful woman; sex can be extremely intimate and rewarding with the right partner."
That had been the last thing Sookie had expected his response to be. "And you know this how?"
He shot her a look. "I did have a human wife who I did very much adore, Sookie."
Oh, now she felt bad.
Strangely, it did settle some of her worries though. From how it sounded Eric was very loyal to his wife, something she hadn't expected from a Viking but clearly she like the rest of the human world had gotten many of their facts incorrect on their attempt at studying history.
Was she seriously considering this?
One look at Godric and Eric told her that yes, she seriously was.
"Thank you for tonight, it was lovely" Sookie thanked them as she opened the door to her home. Despite the shock of their proposal she had had a really nice time, especially since she got to witness someone's engagement.
It had turned out that the reason why their hostess had been so unhelpful when it came to them switching their reservations with another couple was all for moneys sake. Godric had confirmed her thoughts that they received tips and bonuses on commission. The more money their customers spent the more they earned by their employer. It was obvious when Eric had requested the best table that she had seen dollar signs flashing in front of her eyes, so the request to switch to a less expensive table would have put her out of pocket had Eric not covered their tab as well.
She hadn't realised restaurants worked in that way.
Eric had informed her that only few did, that it was to keep the place considered high class rather than letting just anyone in. It kept the places reputation intact.
Frankly, she preferred how Merlotte's worked. At least Sam didn't judge.
"Do you want to come inside?" she threw over her shoulder as she entered her house, pulling off her jacket before hanging it on the coat rack positioned near the door.
"Of course, we would love to" Godric replied as both he and Eric made their way inside, Eric making sure to close the door behind him.
"I'm just going to grab a glass of water, do you want a trublood or anything?" she offered as she made her way into the kitchen, her small heels making a slight noise as they tapped against her floors.
"I am fine, thank you älskling."
Sookie frowned, unconcerned as Eric disappeared somewhere in her house. Her focus was on Godric, her concern for him coming through as she stared at him somewhat disapprovingly.
"You have been drinking, right?" she asked, refusing to look away until she had an answer.
Godric's lips quirked, "I do not require as much nutrition as Eric does, Sookie."
"But it can't be healthy for you to go without for so long, Godric. You know if you ever want to feed from me all you need to do is ask, right?"
His visible shock told her that he did in fact not know.
"Accept Godric," Eric's tall form made an appearance as he entered the kitchen. "Why you feel the need to hesitate I do not know" he leered at her neck. She flushed. "Perhaps I should starve myself if it means I get to nip at your neck, lover" he purred, fangs peaking through his gums.
Sookie flushed, but managed a scowl. "Don't you even think about doing such a thing!"
"He was joking, älskling" Godric's lips quirked.
"Damn right he should be!" she narrowed her eyes. "But I'm serious Godric, I trust you not to hurt me or take too much."
Godric visibly paused, guiltily not wanting to even protest at her offer. Still, it didn't feel right. "I feel as if I am using you."
Sookie scoffed. "You are far too nice to be using me, Godric" she turned to grab a glass from her cupboard. "If you prefer I can pour you a glass of trublood, I have all the flavours."
Eric pouted, "don't I get an offer?"
Sookie did pause at that. She trusted Eric not to physically hurt her, but it was him getting carried away that concerned her.
"Can you promise me to keep your hands to yourself?" she finally relented and asked. It was almost worth it to see his eye brows raise in a picture of shock. "Your silence tells me you can't" she moved to fill her glass.
Eric was standing behind her in the next second, larger fingers lightly tracing her bared neck. She shuddered. "Are you teasing?"
Sookie paused at the emotion Eric had allowed into his voice. She couldn't deny the fact that he was trying, for her.
"Can you keep your hands to yourself?" she repeated, her voice shaky.
"Are you worried you won't be able to say no?"
"Yes."
Her response caused them both to be silent until Eric spoke again, this time his tone curious "with Godric?"
"I know Godric will respect my wishes."
And she did. If she told Godric to keep his hands to himself because she wasn't ready than she had no doubt he would do as she wished. He wouldn't push, wouldn't test for more. She adored that about him, respected him for it.
She turned to face Godric, her expression displaying her fondness.
"If I give you my word that I will not touch you, you will allow me to feed from you?" Eric murmured against her neck.
Sookie took in a deep and trembling breath, her fingers tightening on the glass as she closed her eyes at the sensation of Eric's breath on her neck. She shuddered, asking herself whether she was really going to allow Eric to do this.
Clenching her eyes shut, "don't break my trust, Eric."
I know, I'm mean leaving it there ;)
