Chapter Thirty-One
Emotional Reflections
It was around 11 o'clock in the morning when Sookie found herself waking up underneath the thick sheets of her bed, her eyes half-closed as she attempted to recall how she had managed to end up in bed after a surprisingly enjoyable night out with Godric and Eric.
Who'd have thought the Viking could be such a gentleman? she thought wistfully.
Making a move to stretch her aching body she rolled over towards her left only to catch note of a folded piece of paper sitting on her nightstand. Curiously, she reached over to pluck it from the wooden counter only to smile widely when she caught sight of the familiar scripted writing. It was hard not to remember such elegance.
Sookie
I hope you enjoyed last night as much as we did. Eric has been a bundle of joy since.
Sookie snorted at that; she very much doubted Eric was a 'bundle of joy' as Godric had worded it. She just couldn't imagine the stubborn Viking having the personality similar to that of an overly happy person. It just didn't fit.
Pamela mentioned something about taking you shopping, however, if you are unable to make it please leave a message with Fangtasia.
Your Vampires
Eric & Godric

Trying not to think too much into how Godric had ended the affectionate note she couldn't help but smile despite herself. Still, Pam wanting to take her shopping wasn't what she had planned for her evening. If she was being honest with herself she would have thought the sarcastic vampire had been joking around with her, but she had to admit she was curious as to how Pam would act during a shopping trip.
Chewing her bottom lip she mentally went through her work schedule. She wasn't working tonight. Tara had wanted to switch with her.
Rolling her neck in an attempt to wake herself up Sookie placed the note in the small draw where all of the small notes and cards she received went before making her way towards the bathroom, it not being until she had showered that she caught sight of her reflection in the mirror. She froze; her entire face flushing as she recalled what exactly had happened the night before.
She had allowed Eric to bite her!
What on earth had she been thinking? One minute she had been offering Godric to feed on her, knowing exactly how careful and considerate he was when it came to biting her, and the next she had Eric's rather than Godric's fangs in her neck!
Goodness!
She gasped as she recalled her boldness, the fact she had admitted to being afraid she would give into Eric's actions making her entire face flame with shame.
Still…
The gentleness of his actions had surprised her more than anything else. He had been soft, respectful and most of all he had kept his word that he would keep his hands to himself. It may not have been as pleasurable as when Godric had bitten her but it had been easy to tell the difference between Eric's bite and Godric's. Godric had wanted her to feel good; Eric was simply respecting her boundaries.
She had no doubt he could bring her to high heights of pleasure if he wanted to.
Curving her face to the right Sookie attempted to find the bite marks on her neck only to come up short. She frowned, positive she hadn't dreamed Eric biting her the night before, not to mention the note.
So where were they?
She knew from previous experience that they didn't just go away over night!
Confused, Sookie filed it away to ask Pam about later if they did end up going shopping before she dried herself off and pulled on some old clothes. She had some gardening to get done, and considering it was her day off and she had the entire day free she figured there wasn't a better opportunity to catch up on her chores.
It wasn't until just after she had made herself a simple ham sandwich that she caught sight of her brother coming up the drive in that rusted truck of his. Frowning, she watched him approach from where she sat on the porch, taking in his hopeful expression.
"So, did you tell Eric then?" Jason hoped for good news.
Sookie nodded. "I gave him the address you told me so I guess he'll send someone to go get her."
"Aren't you worried about him hurting her?" Jason couldn't help but ask.
Sookie thought about it. No, she didn't like the idea of Eric hurting anybody but she had made a deal that whoever's mind she read he would have to turn them into the authorities. If he asked her to scan Amy's mind than the deal still stood.
Still, "she killed a vampire, Jason."
"I know that, I was there after all!"
"That isn't something to be proud of, Jason" she scolded before pushing her plate aside. "But thank you for not trying to protect Amy, it wouldn't have ended well."
Stuffing his hands in the denim pockets of his jeans he shrugged, "she ain't worth dyin' for."
That Sookie could agree with.
"So did you want anything else?" she wondered aloud as she made her way inside, Jason on her toes as she headed to the kitchen to wash her plate. "Seems strange you would come all the way out here just to ask if I had a word with Eric, Jason. I have a perfectly working phone after all."
Jason watched as his little sister went about her business without a care in the world; it caused jealously to bubble up within his chest. Here he was panicking about getting his throat ripped out when his sister who spent the majority of her free time with vampires didn't seem to have any trouble getting to sleep at night.
He fought against the urge to comment.
"Pretty much," he shrugged.
Sookie rolled her eyes, slotting her dish against the drainer before turning around to lean against the counter, observing her brother with a critical eye. It didn't look as if he was up to anything, his thoughts just a chaotic mess of the usual everyday stuff her brother thought about. He wasn't known to have many individual ideas.
A few minutes later she sighed, "do you want something to eat?"
Grinning, "sure Sook" Jason quickly took a seat as he made himself comfortable. He may not live in Gran's old house but he still considered it partly his own. It still stung that he hadn't been left at least partial rights to the house in her will but it wasn't like he could do anything about it other than sulk.
He hated to admit it but Sookie kind of did look after her in her older years.
At least Sookie was still willing to cook for him, and as a full breakfast was placed in front of him he grinned. Life was good when vampires weren't involved. If only his sister could understand that.
It was an hour before sunset that Sookie found herself dialling the number for Fangtasia. Why Eric hadn't simply given her his own number she didn't know, chalking it up to him being a private man.
"Good evening, this is Fangtasia, the bar with a bite. How can I help you?"
Sookie simultaneously rolled her eyes and smiled. It wouldn't put it past her to the greeting to be Pam's doing.
"Hey, it's Sookie. Can I leave a message for either Pam or Eric, please?"
There was a long sigh. "If it was important enough to need a message taken you would have called Mr Northman directly."
"Well, can you make an exception please Eric knows-"
"I cannot take messages from patrons of the bar. If you'll excuse me I have work to do."
Staring at the phone blankly Sookie glanced at the clock before deciding to leave it for a few minutes before trying to call back. She didn't want to give Pam the impression she was too rude to contact her, but getting through to Fangtasia was proving to be more difficult that she would have thought.
After Jason had left it hadn't taken her long to feel excitement over having a girls night out with Pam. She knew it wouldn't be the same as when she had once gone out with Tara and Arlene, and while that had been nice it didn't change the fact that they didn't find her both weird and strange.
At least Pam didn't judge. Well, not on that subject anyway.
Half an hour before sunset Sookie debated whether to just wait or to try again before shrugging, figuring it couldn't hurt to try.
"Good evening, this is Fangtasia, the bar with a bite. How can I help you?"
Sookie breathed a sigh of relief when she recognised Gingers tone. "Hey Ginger, it's Sookie."
Silence.
"Hello Sookie, what do you want?"
Did they have to be so rude? Sookie couldn't help herself thinking. It was strange how well she got along with Fangtasia's vampires and yet when it came to the human staff their conversations were frosty at best.
"Can you take a message for when Pam rises, please?"
Silence.
"What is it?" she grumbled.
Trying not to take it personally, recalling the last time her and Ginger had spoken Sookie was asking her whether or not she was a thief, Sookie bit her tongue.
"Just that I would love to meet up with her later, and-"
"Couldn't this have waited until after she rose?" Ginger snipped out, "we do all have work to do."
Gritting her teeth Sookie didn't comment. "Just tell her I said yes."
With a huffed "fine" she hung up, leaving Sookie both annoyed and frustrated. What was wrong with manners now-a-days?
Shaking her head she glanced out the window before guessing that it was going to be a warm night out like usual. At least that was one good thing about Louisiana, the hot weather. Heading upstairs it didn't take her more than a few minutes to undress before slipping on a soft blue dress, and just to please Pam, a pair of white heels she found stored in the very back of her wardrobe.
Brushing out her hair and applying some lip gloss she glanced in the mirror before shrugging. It would do. Whatever she wore she was positive she would appear underdressed in comparison to Pam anyway.
Ring Ring
Figuring it was Pam, Sookie quickly dashed into the kitchen. "Hello?"
"Was Ginger a bitch?"
Yep, definitely Pam.
"Did you get my message?" she deflected instead of answering.
Pam didn't seem impressed, but her mood significantly seemed to lighten. "Oh yes, I am very pleased you decided to come willingly. Eric will take us, he has business to take care of."
"Oh. Where are we going?"
"There are many places to shop in Shreveport so that will have to do for tonight, however, our next trip to Dallas will be an opportunity we will not waste. I heard you did no shopping. Shame on you."
"You're going to Dallas?" was Godric, she couldn't help but wonder.
Pam snorted. "We are sometime in the near future. Godric wishes to check on Isabel and frankly I refuse to stay back once again. It's unacceptable."
Frowning, "I have no plans to go to Dallas, Pam."
"You will," she all she said before changing the subject, "we will arrive in half an hour, Eric is just making sure his things are in order. Be ready, please."
Sookie stared at the phone in shock, not knowing whether to be more surprised at Pam's eagerness to spend time with her or in stunned silence that she had actually said please. In the end she decided both.
Placing the phone back in its cradle she ran a hand through her hair before deciding to throw it up in a loose ponytail. She had a feeling shopping with Pam of all people was going to be an experience she wasn't about to be able to forget any time soon, though honestly, she was genuinely looking forward to spending time with someone who actually liked her company for once.
Would you go shopping with Pamela?
